Torn between being:
- rather upset that the Secret History is viral and therefore not written for solely me to think about and base my personality on, and
- extremely delighted at how enraged the greek class would be upon learning that their gorgeously aesthetic classical tragedy (which depicts how their lives were marred by hubris, illusion, and excess, inevitably leading them down a path to madness and death) has become mainstream

something that I think the “have fun and be yourself” discourse tends to miss is that it’s all very well saying do whatever you want and don’t worry about what people think because the people who judge you aren’t worth your time, but sometimes you choose to act normal because you have a task to do or you’re in a conversation that you care about, and having to stop in the middle for your interlocutor to say bewilderedly “but why did you do that in such a quirky way” would be wasting time and getting off topic. choosing to act normal to avoid that is not being inauthentic out of unhealthy fear of censure. it’s just prudence.

i had a lot of issues with s4 but i genuinely believe that max’s arc in s4 was one of the best things they have ever done in this show and i don’t think the graveyard scene nor her death scene will ever leave me. the way that so many people have connected to her and her story is incredibly moving. you don’t need to have experienced 1980s indiana or battles with lovecraftian horrors to wrap yourself in max’s pain, her quiet distance, her panic when she finally realizes she wants more time just as her clock is running out. i just. i don’t know. the duffers got that really, truly right.

hi it’s almost 1 am but i was talking to @blindbet about the divergent universe in relation to dr ratio and it got very introspective.
so we know that veritas collaborated with screwllum to create this program , and it is plainly obvious as you play along. since even though it is surrounding mortals and aeons both , we all know how screwllum’s fascination lies with humanity. so it got me thinking about who is the most human character out there : dr ratio. which is who he models a lot of the equations around , you just need to read some of the descriptions.
okay with that in mind , even veritas himself emphasises how he is a mundanite and a mediocre in an arguably excessive amount. despite this , there is no denying his celebrity status and how the people of his homeworld have thrust expectations upon him with such heavy weight.
i’ve already written posts about the volatile balance of dr ratio and his pursuit for nous’ gaze , so i won’t elaborate here , but i think the rejection and failure to acquire it is a large reason why veritas turned away from this ascension to what his people had praised him and hoped he would be — the saviour of their world. it’s why he continuously states he is just an ordinary man — as if he’s trying to convince himself this is fact , instead of being this prophesised salvation. but of course , if he is the most human , he must ache from how nous refuses to glance to him.
it might be a stretch but i wonder if this is why he ( or at least mine ) avoids returning home until he is able to fulfil or bring back good news. whether he attained nous’ blessing or can restore what has been lost.
even so , he is still bombarded by almost everyone about his mastery and genius and intellect and i think it is almost as if they are rubbing salt into the wound. though , unintentionally. fortunately , veritas is resilient and able to push past this but for how long ? no one knows. with enough pressure , anything can snap.
anyways i just wanted to dump that down it doesn’t really have any cohesion but consider this a small study.

i changed my mind about my actual drag au if i ever wrote one my instinct is to make things joey centric because i'm Like That but actually a version of average salaryman seto kaiba (or at least, Not CEO) being pulled into the drag scene (potentially by duke i really want to write them being friends) and discovering the world and wanting to excel at it in his usual way, breaking down the barriers he puts in place for himself and expressing himself creatively, that's the story i'd probably want to write

USJ Shigaraki is kind of comical. He’s basically going “no fair” because a pro hero is fighting the common villains that he brought into a pro hero training school with pro hero teachers.
Like in his mind, ordinary villains vs inexperienced teenagers is a fairer fight

If the teaser picture with misono and some tweets by japanese fans are any indication it sounded to me like misono stops just listening to lily and goes on the attack (in a metaphorical sense) in the newests chapter and I'm so here for this.
He has been mostly sitting there with a shocked expression as lily revealed the depth of his manipulations for several chapters and I'm excited for him to finally turn this around one way or another.
