Find A Song about unity and solidarity
Calebo - Breathe
In 2020, the world was shaken by the tragic killing of George Floyd. Like so many, I was heartbroken and outraged by what I saw unfolding in the U.S., and I turned to the words of powerful voices—Daryl Davis, Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, and Akala. Their wisdom inspired me to listen, to reflect, and to empathise.
I felt the weight of anger and sadness on social media, but I wasn’t sure what I could say. I knew I needed to stand with my black friends and the wider community, even when words felt inadequate. So, I turned to what I know best—music. And out of that silence, "Breathe" was born. A song that speaks when words fail.
Music has the power to inspire change, to help us work towards unity and equality. I hope this song can have a positive impact and help keep the conversation alive.

Find A Song that is a panic attack transformed into glorious light
Dylan Rippon - Sunburn
Dylan explains this recording as follows, “I started work on ‘Destroy The Now’ around the same time that I was asked to write the music for a new documentary about Andy Warhol called ‘The Warhol Effect’ (dir. by Paul Toogood and Lloyd Stanton). I wanted to make sound in the same way Warhol made images, at the speed of light. Andy was the first to repeat, repeat, repeat. He could paint in code. He was his own algorithm. Marshall McLuhan, my only spiritual guide, understood the digital human as a spirit, disembodied by light itself. He said, ‘everybody at the speed of light becomes a nobody’. And he knew what this separation of the body and soul would do to our lives. ‘Violence whether spiritual or physical is a quest for identity and the meaningful. The less identity, the more violence.’ I started thinking about the violence of digital life, the way it ‘destroys the now’. Warhol spent a lot of time thinking about the violence of car crashes and electric chairs, teenage kids dead on the sidewalk but all over the evening news, violence as a destiny. Maybe that’s why Valerie Solanas tried to murder him. After that, it didn’t take long for the songs to manifest themselves. It was automatic. I didn’t even have to try. ‘Listen!’ was the Universe telling me to wake up, to be aware. ‘Futurismo’ was for Antonio Sant’Elia. He imagined skyscrapers and futuristic city-scapes but was killed in the First World War before he ever saw his dreams come true. ‘Mobius Trip’ is the ‘eternal return’, Nietzsche’s horror concept that we are all destined to live our lives again, every thought, decision and action the same as the first time around. ‘Forever/Eternity Song’ is a love song. It may be the greatest love song ever written. ‘All Too Human’ borrows its title from ‘Human, All Too Human: A Book For Free Spirits’. The robots are already more human than we are. They feel, we scroll. The digital human is all too human to be real. ‘Divider’ is a song about memory, about losing love long ago when you could feel the streets and breathe the night. ‘Sunburn’ is a panic attack transformed into glorious light. ‘Momentum’ is a prayer. I mastered the album at Abbey Road. Richard Bull created a beautiful painting for the sleeve. I had the feeling that I’d made something really special.”

Find A Song about different paths in life
Stillwater Blackball - Hiraeth
I wrote this song a couple of years ago when I heard my childhood friend had won Miss Wales. I couldn’t believe that we’d started out in the same place but were on such different paths. I hadn’t seen her much since I moved away age 7, but I always wondered if I’d be different if I’d stayed. This kaleidoscopic song talks to her and that other version of myself. Where I lived was right next to Fernhill, from the Dylan Thomas poem about childhood and time, so the lyrics borrow a lot from that. It’s also got a huge hook.

Find A Song that is the anthem of an adventure on the great trails
Dead Chic - Paris
Dive into the Morricone-esque universe with this brand-new track from Dead Chic. “Paris,” the lead single from their upcoming album, is an epic romp through a vast, barren, wild landscape. It starts with an exciting rumble, a distant guitar, a simmering vocal… then the gunshot fires! The horde bursts forth, with fuzz and choirs escalating to a climax. “Paris” is the anthem of an adventure on the great trails, no matter the vehicle.
To visually represent this western-style soundtrack, the band enlisted director Anastasja Black along with producer Rowan Biddiscombe, known for the band’s previous music videos. Filmed in the Tabernas Desert in southern Spain, the music video captures the iconic settings of Spaghetti Western cinema. In a spiritual quest, the characters seek their paths, confronting their own limits and those of their environment until they come together for the final climax. (source)

Find A Song about deep reflection and stillness
Juanita Stein - Carry Me
Juanita recalls: "One of the most fluid and magical songwriting experiences I’ve ever had. Whilst escaping the hard lockdown in England, August 2020, myself and family, who were in France at the time, decided that instead of returning home, we would keep driving in the direction of Italy and take our chances. 14 hours later, we ended up at an isolated house in the middle of Tuscany. It was one of the only houses left to rent on Airbnb that day. It was situated at the top of a huge vineyard, it was the kind of dry, scorching heat that is described so beautifully in escapist novels. There was a constant soundtrack of cicadas, birds, and distant boars burrowing their way through the twisted vines below. After a couple of days exploring, I grabbed my guitar one afternoon and went to sit on a lone bench away from the house, overlooking the vineyard. It was about 35 degrees I recall, but there was still a slight rustling of the trees around me, of which the scent of figs and pines emanated. With the surrealism of the pandemic and the recent sudden death of my father lingering in the background, I was strangely at peace with my surroundings and myself in that moment. It was one of the few times in my life when I picked up a guitar and played a song without thinking about intent or process. It babbled out of me like I were rehearsing something I’d played a hundred times before. When I play it live I’m able to evoke the spirit of that moment in time. It’s about deep reflection and stillness. When recording it in the studio, the chorus of birds that just happened to be chirping in the background made it onto the track. The words, “carry me” are not so much a call to be carried by anyone in particular, but rather a call to carry oneself in the present moment".
The single is accompanied by a video Juanita put together "using all the holiday footage during that period, including the moment my daughter led us on a trail to the vineyard".

Find A Song about hopefulness and resilience
Nathan Ball - Rise Up Again
“It’s a song about being on the outside of someone’s struggle, wanting to help someone you love to bring them out of the darkness and let them know you are there for them.”
“Rise Up Again” is the final track to be released from his new EP, Lost Track of Time. The four-track EP also features singles “Stateline” which was written whilst on tour in Australia, trying to capture the spirit of life on the road. Then there is “Lover’s Game”, a song about the importance of loving yourself first in order for others to love you, as well as “Cover to Cover” which paints a picture of someone reflecting on a relationship that deeply impacted them, both for the better and the worse.

Find A Song inspired by the surprise fourth volume in the award-winning 'Southern Reach' series
Tulipomania - I've Been Told - Absolution
With a pressingly mournful urgency, this single's soundscape resonates with the complex energies enveloping VanderMeer’s novel, the author having invited the duo to create music inspired by 'Absolution' while still a work in progress. Hearing that VanderMeer took inspiration for the 'Absolution' novel from their 'Dreaming of Sleep' album, the duo enthusiastically accepted the challenge.
It's an exciting development for the duo to be involved in this new chapter of the Southern Reach Trilogy with 'Absolution' being the brilliant, beautiful and terrifying final word on one of the most provocative and popular speculative fiction series of our time. An instant sensation, it has been celebrated by the New York Times, Stephen King and many others. With each volume climbing the bestsellers list, accruing awards, it was ultimately adapted in a movie - now a cult classic. The trilogy has now sold more than a million copies, securing its place in the pantheon of 21st century literature.

Find A Song that is a reflection of the human need to pause and reconnect with the simplicity of existence
Michael Lane - Live Free
In moments of overwhelm, we crave an escape, a chance to step back and breathe. The song opens with the image of a towel and a lake, which represents this yearning for peace, for a return to nature, where the weight of the world feels lighter. It’s about seeking solitude, not in loneliness, but in rejuvenation.
The chorus expresses a desire for freedom, passion, and love, evoking the drive to live authentically and without restraint. There's a hunger for a new beginning, to dive deeper into life and to embrace what’s real. Yet, there’s an underlying gratitude as well—a recognition of life’s blessings and the reminder that simply being alive is an opportunity to explore, to dream, and to be daring. There are still so many experiences and emotions left to discover, and this song captures the urgency to make the most of that journey. At its core, "Live Free" speaks to the universal desire for renewal, purpose, and adventure, with a grounding sense of appreciation for the present moment.

Find A Song that explores the sacrifices and toll of caring for another
sm^sher - heavy handed
In heavy handed, sm^sher crafts a track that is both repetitive and punchy, reflecting the emotional weight of its themes. "I wanted this track to resonate with a driving intensity, both in form and content," she shares. The pulsing synth layers, created using a Teenage Engineering OP-1, form a melodic block that loops throughout the song, while peripheral sounds and melodies weave in and out, creating a rich sonic tapestry. Lyrically, the song explores the sacrifices and toll of caring for another, capturing the bittersweet realisation that, given the chance, she would make the same choice all over again.

Find A Song that tells the story of Celtic goddess Mis
Jessie Monk - Gold Flowers
‘Gold Flowers’ tells the story of Celtic goddess Mis who attempts to retrieve the soul of her deceased father through a ceremonial act of drinking his blood before, overwhelmed by his death, she moves into a liminal state where reality becomes a distant concept.
The music video, choreographed by Lily Harding and directed by Christy Chudosnik, follows this story and sees Monk and her fellow dancers in a dream-like environment where Mis faces ten other versions of herself and must kill one in a symbolic act of loss.
'“Mis' story gives us as creatives a chance to express in a subverted and liminal way,” Monk says. “The video is a dream that Mis has the night after she finds out her father has died. You will meet her represented in various forms of herself (white figures), one of whom dies in her arms - a symbol of the psyche metabolising a great loss in a mysterious and subconscious way. This was one of the most stimulating creative experiences I've been involved in working with a supremely wondrous coalition of devoted friends and creatives, who effortlessly rode the waves of inspiration all day on beautiful Wurundjeri country and the banks of the Birrarung Marr.”

Find A Song that is a pensive anthem for the introverted
October Drift - Wallflower
‘Wallflower’ is a pensive anthem for the introverted, capturing the delicate and often overwhelming feelings of isolation. It is a poignant tribute to those who find comfort in solitude, even when it feels like the world is slipping away. The new video captures this with frontman and guitarist Kiran Roy skating alone through a bleak industrial setting and finding joy in his desolate surroundings. Regarding the single Kiran says, “I guess the theme of being a wallflower, and of being the quiet observer, reflects the time I was writing the song, which was during lockdown. The ‘wallflower’ is watching from the wings and seeing the ugliness of the world and choosing not to engage. It reflects seeing altercations but not doing anything to intervene or being in a social situation where you can’t relate to anyone there.”

Find A Song that was written as a comfort song
Joshua Woo, Avo Winter - Cut Me Loose
Cut Me Loose was written in 2020, in the midst of the covid pandemic. It was made as a comfort song. As things started to get crazy, Joshua turned to the piano and started playing the three chords that would make up Cut Me Loose. It’s repetitive lyrics and structure serving as a mantra.
This song has long been a favourite with the fans, receiving adoration whenever it’s been performed live for his community. Cut Me Loose has gone through many different permutations and arrangements. Until. Finally, frustrated with his own vocal performance for the track, Joshua enlisted Avo Winter to sing with him on the recording, providing the missing piece the puzzle needed.
