TBH, I am wondering if soccer is his true calling, after all.
Say, (off the top of my head) compared to Isagi who watched Noel Noa growing up, loved football, and wanted to become a striker? or even Sae, who been playing soccer with the dream to go pro since young? Chigiri, Reo, even Ness? He was top in his games through school and that's why he wanted to try out at Basmun. iirc, except for Hiori, most of the blue lockers had a dream to pursue soccer as a profession, right?
But Kaiser picked up professional football, cuz, well .... that was the only way he could be bailed out of prison? He has been playing soccer only for the last 4 years. The way he describes his initial days at Basmun, it's as if only after hitting those guys, he got to know that soccer is a team sport of 11 players. Similar to Nagi, but Kaiser is still a bit different from Nagi,
Looking at his profile:
unlike Nagi, I imagine Kaiser would have opened himself to any kind of profession without external stimulus, as long as it earns him money. He wants to explore human behavior, connections and psychology. He seems interested in meeting new people (but, ofc, study them under the microscope and never open up to anyone himself)
and outside of his resident-nuisance mask, he seems more of a quiet observant introvert who likes reading books. Philosophy and psychology, yes; but I feel he likes reading anything with human characters; he wants to know more of other's thoughts and outlook of the world, and so.
Really.
He could have become anything if given a chance. Yes, his first "gift" to himself was his ball, and his only company throughout childhood. And yes, his 'identity' was born when his ball was attacked.
But this doesn't mean his calling was particularly for soccer.
Because. What arose in his heart atm was simply the desperate desire to 'protect' his only 'friend', his 'fellow piece of shit' from getting 'hurt'. Michael was used to getting abused, but the moment he saw his 'friend' might get hurt, he lost his shit. He would have reacted the same way if it was another toy, or for a younger sibling he doted on, or if he had a human friend whom he really adored.
(Of course, Kaiser being Kaiser, understood the birth of his identity differently, though.
He thinks he got his first impulse of pleasure from kicking the cops, and not from the instinct of 'protecting his friend'-- from despair of others, and not from love of his own heart)
but I digress.
What I am saying is that I can see him fitting in any kind of profession. Going to college? Becoming a writer? Method Acting? Lawyer? Heck, he can go to managerial heights in corporate and overthrow governments? Like anything!
Nothing in his profile reflects a strong calling for soccer in particular. Just an observation.

i mean this in the like... nicest way possible, but there is no way to post your writing and/or art on the internet without running the very high risk of it getting scraped, whether you post it on tumblr, pillowfort, or ao3. sites being 'anti ai' does not mean your art cannot be scraped. it is simply almost impossible to prevent, much less guarantee that. I'm not saying this to be a pessimist or to stop people from being rightfully pissed about this. it sucks. massively so! but if the idea does in fact bother you that much, you should know that moving sites won't fix the issue. ao3, as far as we know, has been scraped/is getting scraped. you can set your fics so that only logged in users can access them, but it only makes scraping one step more difficult, and by no means impossible and the otw has stated this clearly.
which, again, this sucks! i don't have a great solution either!! but tumblr is relatively honest, at least, when it tells you that it cannot prevent, only discourage it. ao3 said the same thing. any site promising you otherwise is, to the best of my knowledge, lying to you.

@esper-aroon has enabled me, so here let me scream at y'all about The Imperial Uncle.
Okay, so I recently read The Imperial Uncle (Huang Shu) by Da Feng Gua Guo from Peach Flower House and I really loved it??? It's first person pov, mlm, about the Emperor's uncle Jing Chengjun, who is mistrusted by everyone simply because of who his parents were and his position, and so he's basically given up on trying to convince people that he's actually a nice, decent person without ulterior motives. He's super trapped by his position, and there's so much he can't say and do, and he's also a hopeless romantic, like, from his own mouth all he really wants is to sleep beside and wake up next to someone who actually gives a shit about him, and even that is basically out of reach in his life. Like, the book starts with his wife (who he has never once had sex with) storming into a meeting he's having and announcing he's a cuckold and she's pregnant.
But also, this poor bastard really thinks he knows what's going on and his very smart. Very unreliable narrator. He's actually kinda a hilarious, impulsive himbo. But the TL:DR is that his loneliness and isolation and the extent to which he's politically trapped routinely lead him to make absolutely terrible decisions.
E. Danglar's translation is absolutely gorgeous, too, and... idk, if you love political plots, melodramatic idiot main characters, a dose of pining, and a slow burn that eventually pays off, come take a look??? (some people think it's a love triangle??? idk, I never really got that vibe, I never felt it was really in doubt which of the two potential dudes he'd end up with, but maybe I only feel that way because I got it right, lmao).
Anyway, I can't stop thinking about how these two idiots end up finally finding each other and getting together, and I have an entire AU in my head (a modern corporate one) and part of another (canon divergent from like a decade before the book starts), and I just want people to love this book as much as I did and scream with me about it.
