Basic lineup, without taking into account abilities, moves, and held items. My team would have some trouble with dark types, and I got nothing for fairies, but otherwise it seems like it would do alright.

More extremely specific rules in my PokeFEH AU world building:

You can SEE. Whoever lives here, ADORES LITTEN. They have two pet Littens. Neither of them shiny. Like beyond what I was saying previously, shinyness is SO RARE that it would take insane luck or Purpose to find one. This person seems to be an avid Litten enjoyer, but an otherwise completely normal person. So they have merch!!!! They have a little picture OF a shiny Litten!!! They even have an Incinaroar plush, which makes me imagine if they are an average person (not a serious trainer!) -- maybe they don't have the space or resources to care for a whole ass Incinaroar. But they still like it! So they have a plush of it!

So back to Moe, the Mimikyu it has, and its hoodie, the story goes: Moe loves the SHIT out of that fucking thang. Extremely fucking passionate about that thang, both the (un)living (un)breathing(?) Mimikyu that rides on its shoulder and The Concept of Mimikyu, the Pokemon. Fanboy behavior. Okay!!!!! NEXT!

And an excuse to match Moe's outfit to shiny Gogoat's color pallette. *LIKE YEAH we have Arceus as a creator god Pokemon who's even goat-like in design... but there's like. Not at all the same connotations I don't think... and Moe's whole deal is less about the religion itself, and more about how it was hurt by the flavor of it that it was brought up with. I DON'T WANNA INVENT RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY IN POKEMON WORLD............... this DOES beg the question of how the hell did Moe get here as it is today BUT. IT'S FINE I CAN WORK WITH THIS...... it's a creative exercise. And tbh given some of the evil teams we've had maybe there's something in there I could work with. Pokemon has planey off options for oddly specific doomsday cults... it's Fine.... and shitty family situations exist in Any universe ☺️💖

did you guys know that in pokemon amie, when you pet a honedge with low friendship on the sash, it will react positively, but once your friendship with it is high enough it will react angrily to that instead

the reason i say this is because 1. honedge is a sword who can love you and it makes it obvious when it does and 2. i think wikstrom and his aegislash had mutual respect when they first met so not only did wikstrom never try to grab him by the sash or the hilt, cali in return never attempted to kill him

Muriel: many of Muriel's pokemon are from lines that evolve with high friendship! as 37th scrivener, they probably don't have much practice with the battling side of pokemon training, but once on Earth, they meet so many new pokemon to befriend!! <3

Announcing: Tumblr's Strongest Pokémon Tournament!

It's been one year since Mimikyu was crowned Tumblr's favorite Pokémon, not only on this blog, but independently by a bunch of different Pokémon tournaments across the site. One question still lingers: who would win in a one-on-one battle tournament?

I will be again running a tournament on this blog, but instead of answering the question "which Pokémon do you like more?" we are asking "which Pokémon would win in a battle?"

This tournament will again follow a 1v1 knockout format, and it will be seeded according to base stats.

Arguing why your fav would win the battle is highly encouraged. Both joke voting and seriously considering how each battle would play out are encouraged.

FAQ:

Why are the polls all coughing baby vs. hydrogen bombs? That doesn't seem fair!

That's because the polls are seeded by base stats. This way, we ensure that the very strongest pokémon don't face off until the last few rounds, AND if a weaker mon causes an upset in the early rounds (defeats their much stronger opponent), they have a good chance to make it further because they have to face relatively weaker opponents, keeping the tournament exciting!

Why is X form included/not included? Why do some male/female pairs get separate polls?

Forms are included if a) they have different stats or b) they have different types. The exceptions that aren't included are the forms of Aegislash, Minior, Eiscue and Palafin, because you can expect both to occur in the same battle, and the forms of Arceus and Silvally, because there's too many and they, especially Arceus because it's the 8th strongest, risk overwhelming the tournament. The exception that is included are male and female Meowstic, because they have such different movepools.

I found a poll with a wrong image/images in the wrong order/set to only 1 day/something else wrong with it.

Please bring it to my attention, I will fix it asap! The existing poll will be declared invalid if the poll time is wrong.

What happens in case of a tie?

We go into a one-day sudden death poll where the winner moves on to the next round.

What happens if there's an odd number of pokémon in a round?

The three last pokémon in the round will each face off against the 2 others. The one to win both polls will move on to the next round. If each only wins one poll, the one to win by the largest margin will move on.

How should I vote?

Anything that makes you think that the Pokémon should win in a one-on-one. Stats calculations? Valid. They would win in the anime? Valid. They would win in smash/TCG/pokémon pinball? Valid. Vibes? Valid.

Shouldn't you have... [weeded out the weakest pokémon first / included more information in the polls / only included fully evolved pokémon / encouraged people to vote more seriously / something else]?

Yeah probably, but I'm not going to restart the entire tournament over it. I always encourage more people to do tournament blogs though, so feel free to run your own tournament the way you want it!

SO I made some concept art for Danny and Spongebob in the pokemon world, I know i drew Danny 5 times more than SB but I like my SB design more actually LOL

Danny's trait coincide so much with pokemon hes almost just a pokemon himself.

I did hesitate with making him ghost / electric and whatnot, even maybe space gimmick but I went with this so far since it called to me. Giving Danny Aegislash and Spctrier wasnt by chance, I like pushing forward the idea of him being a king.

I like the small drawing they give u in pokemon to kinda flesh out the character.

As for SB primarina jsut screams SB for me, especially with how I draw him usually.

I DID like Lucario very much as a kid and I still think it's a great design but I do find myself not caring as much about it anymore as I used to as a child 😅 I was SUPER hyped when I saw it for the first time in "Lucario and the mystery of Mew", I still remember watching the TV premiere of it

Otherwise I don't know if GARCHOMP counts as overrated but I found myself REALLY loving the big shark dragon when I raised an alpha specimen in Legends Arceus - before that I was actually pretty neutral on the dragon. I named him Archie and he became my ace and I love him very very much

As the newest cast member of Smosh, it may feel like big, intimidating shoes to fill. We all know Trevor’s got the stuff for it, but really coming into your own comedic identity may feel like a challenge.

Gym 1: Amanda Lehan Canto - Water Type

I've never seen such a good yes-and ability in improv than Amanda, you can tell that she's always down to turn any moment into a good time. Her acting talents spread far and wide, but her life experiences beyond that baffle me. The fact she loves scuba diving was the nail in the coffin for me that she's a master of the water type.

Gym 2: Olivia Sui - Grass Type

Grass is a versatile and varied type, with the vibes of some Pokémon being serene and graceful to Rapidly Approaching Your Location, and Olivia fits that to me. She’s incredibly sweet and affectionate with her friends but is fully willing to commit to a bit and confuse the audience.

Gym 3: Chanse McCrary - Fire Type

Chanse has an edge to him that I could see absolutely light up a battlefield. He’s not afraid to flex and show off during a competitive game, which sometimes leads to his downfall, but never takes back from his intelligence and just overall confidence. He’s got the X factor, which takes perfectly to the fire type.

Gym 4: Tommy Bowe - Normal Type

Tommy had a point when he said that the Normal type is filled with a lot of Weird Looking Fellas, and I agree with that, but the normal type also calls for versatility, reliability. Having type immunities and only one weakness makes it a type that’s able to reliably stand on its own legs. With the many hats that Tommy has worn over the years at Smosh, the Normal type makes so much sense.

Gym 5: Damien Haas - Ghost Type

Damien’s appearance alone would make the hounds be sent after me if I didn’t put him into the Ghost Type. Though intimidating on the surface, the ghost type, once you get past the hesitation, is full of some of the sweetest Pokémon you’ll ever get to meet. Consistently bringing fan favorites to new games with every generation, I can’t help but be reminded of Damien’s affinity for the spooky and alternative despite everything else about him being so gentle. He deserves the ghost type, and the ghost type deserves him.

Gym 6: Angela Giarratana - Dragon Type

The dragon type is powerful, it’s dominating, but it’s also chaotic, hard to wield, and sometimes outright terrifying. Angela being a dragon tamer makes so much sense to me, personally. Her ability to command a room either willingly or by complete accident with a mistake of word-choice never fails to make me laugh and feel hooked to the screen. Just put a big dragon next to her and that’s only amplified.

Gym 7: Arasha Lalani - Flying Type.

Arasha never fails to surprise me with just how above and beyond she goes in any video. No matter how crazy it gets she’s not afraid to yes-and the vibe and enable the chaos in a room. It makes her a fantastic host. She’s going to soar. She’s going to book a marvel movie. Trust me.

Gym 8: Keith Leak Jr - Electric Type

Keith is insanely underrated in the Smosh cast, and I sincerely believe that the OG Smosh Squad would not be the same without him. He consistently bounces between being a straight-man in a lineup to the most insane within seconds. Down to just his fits every single day, and the fact that he BEAT CANCER??? He’s always got me on my toes. He’s Electric.

Team Rocket (or any evil team) Leader: Spencer Agnew - Dark Type

How could this be possible? The chosen?!! Evil? No..I just ran out of gym leader slots and thought it would be compelling lol. Spencer is a mastermind of comedy both in front of the camera and behind it. He’s funny without necessarily even trying, but yet it always comes across as mischievous, chaos, the most out-of-pocket lines you’ve ever heard. He’s clearly such a good guy, but the dark type, at least to my belief, fits the vibe he brings to the cast so perfectly.

Before you face the champion, you must go through a gauntlet of four of the strongest trainers in the region. Who might this be?

Courtney Miller - Fairy Type

A directorial mastermind, a comedic powerhouse, and overall just slaying boots the house down, Courtney Miller is nothing short of magical. She breathes a life into Smosh that just leaves me knowing for certain that some of our favorite videos would not be the same without her influence. Her ability to sway from one comedic extreme to another, while still showing that sincerity makes her just such a good fit for the fairy type.

Anthony Padilla - Fighting Type

Our local emo boy. Our local “spent a day with everyone” boy. Someone who we were all overjoyed to have back. Not only being an absolute comedic powerhouse, he proves himself to be a jack of all stoic trades, from painting, to yoga, to starting Smosh with computer programming, his path of self-actualization is one to be admired.

Shayne Topp - Psychic Type

Without a shadow of a doubt, Shayne has shown that (even if partially for a bit), he listens, he cares, and he hopes for the best for Smosh as a company. His energy in videos and being able to match the vibe of almost anyone that he’s paired with is nothing short of miraculous. He’s psychic. Full stop.

Ian Hecox - Ground Type

For almost any cast member you could argue that they’re breathing life into Smosh. But I think one deserving of the title of keeping their feet planted is Ian. The way he showed so much resolve during the fall of Defy, carrying the company through Mythical, and stepping up and taking the operation independent again with Anthony shows nothing short of an incredible amount of dedication. Ground type fits him to me. Earthquake is always on a competitive team somewhere.

the one directly to the right of my starter is typically who i consider their second-in-command... ignix is a bit of a show-off and often bites off more than he can chew so kiel has to ground him. min is a very lazy leader who gets serious just often enough for the rest not to question his competence but it's really eurydome who handles any of the busywork. cam is more level-headed than the other two but often hesitates too much to act so rosalie acts as his bullheaded encouragement

some other established relationships are... the three starters are childhood friends from the same hometown. marielle is yongwoo's foster parent as well as former coworkers with rienne. yun is orion's senior disciple from the tower of mastery. irsha originates from the same magic academy as marielle but they're not acquainted...

admittedly i'm more interested in designing ocs than fleshing them out so most of these guys are just sort of concepts floating in my head somewhere but i do like thinking about them sometimes :)

PokéTWST Part 7

Silver's team may seem a little mismatched, but they are quite complementary with one half catering to Silver's napping needs...

Snorlax and Musharna both aid Silver when he's sleeping: Snorlax as an oversized pillow, and Musharna as a dream eater (KH references much Toboso?). Musharna will eat the dreams of others, helping them to either forget the dream or consume the nightmares.

The color of the mist emanating from Musharna shows the type of dream the host has and will inform the other Pokémon what Silver is dreaming. However, if the dream is becoming a nightmare, the mist will turn black.

Gallade and Aegislash know this. Gallade, being the "master of courtesy and swordsmanship," will guard Silver and Musharna diligently, knowing that waking a Musharna when the mist is black will bring Silver's nightmares to life.

Aegislash too will stand guard in Shield Form in order to protect Silver.

And the other half assisting with his sparring and etiquette training.

Gallade make for great knights-in-training. They are fiercely protective of their trainers and able to predict their opponent's moves. Silver loves to practice his swordsmanship with Gallade since it fights as honorably as himself.

Gallade are also chivalrous and seek to assist those in need, much like Silver. And so when Silver falls asleep in the middle of a task, or when he is preoccupied with Malleus, Gallade is there to fill in the gaps. If anything, Silver wants to learn from Gallade's example.

Aegislash, having both offensive and defensive abilities, also makes for a challenging opponent. However, Aegislash is more intrigued in Silver himself.

Aegislash are able to "detect the innate qualities of leadership" and thus are drawn to royalty. Initially, it was Malleus's Pokémon, but as Aegislash developed an obvious interest in Silver, Malleus gifted it as a birthday present as an example of what a royal protector should look like.

Aegislash are known to loyally serve entire lineages of kings, which Silver one day hopes he could do. It's a constant reminder of what Silver is training for, and the amount of faith Malleus has in him to reach that goal.
