“It’s not a big deal. Dalinar Kholin is friends with one of the worst murderers I’ve ever met. So? Dalinar is lighteyed. He’s probably friends with a lot of murderers.”
Oh, honey. Let me fix that for you.
Why do I have the feeling that this reveal isn't going to be as big a deal as it absolutely should be? Because I know from the grapevine that at the very least Adolin gives a fuck that Dalinar killed his mom and he had to learn about it from his tell-all book. But I haven't heard anything about Kaladin's reaction, and that worries me.
I think I will bet money that it will come down to
But he's changed/he's trying/he feels bad.
and/or
But I know he's a good man with a good heart.
As that seems to be the version of bs.exe that Dalinar's OS runs. Which is some motherfucking Protagonist Privilege, I'll tell you what. Normal villains trying to do the Redemption Arc Run would kill for cheat codes like that, but they can't, because it would set them back too many points.
And wtf is this Dalinar stan shit Syl is pulling? Is that you, Brandon, or does she have a reason to be like this about Dalinar? Even if she does, I'm still calling it bigtime Character Shilling. I mean, I kinda figured that Dalinar would win Kaladin over way, way, way too easily, to the point where I included it in my WoR drinking '''game''', but I didn't expect to be yelling at Tinkerbell over here for trying to force it.
“Dalinar’s not like Amaram,” Syl said. “You know he’s not.”
Syl zipped out into the air in front of Kaladin, coming down like a storm. Literally like a storm. She stopped in the air right in front of him, a cloud boiling from beneath her feet, flashing with lightning. “You can honestly say,” she demanded, “that you think Dalinar Kholin is only pretending to be honorable?”
“No, Dalinar gave up his Blade for us. He’s a good man. I accept that. Amaram has him fooled. He had me fooled too, so I suppose I can’t blame Kholin too much.”
Actually, you super can! There is no excuse for how gullible Dalinar is (No, I will never get over being dragged though that "Does Sades is trustworthy?" plotline, only for the answer to be "No, just like you immediately guessed.") at his age, with as many people around him who should be able to fill in that glaring blindspot. Also? Dude did the bare minimum for the guys who saved his and his son's lives (and also, you know, thousands of other people), so he's gets instant Good Man status, no questions asked or allowed?
And why do I also have the feeling that, if Kaladin gets pissed at any of the shit that I'm told Dalinar will be pulling on him, he's going to be framed as the bad guy?
#the stormlight archive#words of radiance#dirtbag dalinar#<- block that if you're not in the mood for like 40 more of these#all saying basically the same thing#dalinar's bitch-ass baby-mode redemption arc#dalinar is a lot of murderers#this motherfucker gets so many doubt-based benefits#he is an affront to every character who deserved a redemption arc but didn't get it#or got an aborted arc#or that redemption = death bs#aka a lot of my favorite characters#i hate dalinar but also i don't#it's more the way he's written#and how other characters are written re: him

Propaganda
Ava Gardner (The Killers, The Barefoot Contessa)— She's so goddamn hot. Her and Frank Sinatra could've sandwiched me and I would've thanked them for the privilege
Jean Seberg (Breathless, Saint Joan)— Some of us watched À bout de souffle as a lil French undergrad and had the trajectory of our lives changed by Jean Seberg. She IS French new wave!! She is the moment!! She sadly had to work with a lot of shitty directors in her career but even so, she has this magnetic energy whenever she’s on screen. In her personal life, she was also very supportive of civil rights causes, and was even targeted/harassed by the FBI for financially supporting the Black Panther Party.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Ava Gardner:
Ava Gardner is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Although a lot of her roles in movies are about her being beautiful and nothing else, there are some films where her acting truly shines.
Gifset: https://www.tumblr.com/pelopides/721438308726603776/ava-gardner-as-pandora-reynolds-pandora-and-the
Gifset 2: https://www.tumblr.com/portraitoflestatonfire/731899355804598272/if-the-loustat-reunion-doesnt-look-like-this-then
HER FACE. LOOK AT IT. Also was a life long supporter of civil rights and a member of the NAACP, had lots of fun love affairs with other stars, bullfighters, married several times but was also happy in between to just have lovers and was unapologetically herself.
I literally gasp every time I see her.
Between 1942 and 1964, Ava Gardner was credited in no less 50 films, and is still considered by some to be the most beautiful actresses that ever graced the silver screen. Despite life-long insecurities regarding her talent as an actress, she weathered public scandal, industry hostility, and outright condemnation by the Catholic Church with fearless grace. She would later in life talk candidly about the reality and pain of living through two (studio approved!!) abortions during her short marriage to Frank Sinatra, and while the two of them could not make their relationship work, they remained in each other’s lives for nearly 30 years. She would forever describe herself as a small-town girl who just got lucky, but always felt like a beautiful outsider.
Really genuinely one of the most beautiful human beings I have ever seen. An autodidact. Had amazing chemistry with Gregory Peck to the point where I do think about watching On The Beach again sometimes because they're so good together even though that movie did destroy me. Was a great femme fatale in many movies.
Jean Seberg:
anyone who plays Joan of Arc is kind of hot by default tbh
she's gorgeous, she's cool, she has the original blond pixie cut
She donated a lot of her money to civil rights organizations such as the NAACP and the black panther party as well as Native American school groups, as a result of this the fbi ran a smear campaign against her and a surveillance campaign which is thought to have led to her suicide tragically.
idk if this is propaganda but the COINTELPRO and the FBI are widely blamed for her death. If the FBI was after her for supporting the Black Panther Party you know she was good

Hi!
Happy 8x06 day :D
I recently got into 9-1-1 (read: binged all seven seasons and five episodes in two weeks) and I can honestly say no other fandom drew me in this quickly - that being said I love the color theories surrounding our boys, however I am still a bit unclear on what the significance of Eddie's yellow / Buck's blue is and how do they play into eachother?
Hi!! Welcome to the madness. I will link my main posts about the blue and yellow but a lot happened this season already, so I'll do an overview here too (x x x x x)
Basically, Buck's coming out arc is blue and yellow coded and Buck is dressed in shades of blue through the whole thing.
The culmination of Buck's coming out arc is the coming out scene in 705 because it is the only moment Buck chooses to come out. So this is Buck's blue.
While Buck was doing all that, Eddie was in the sun, or surrounded by gold/yellow.
So in the coming out scene, we have Buck settled into his blue and Eddie in front of his yellow.
But the blue and yellow coding of Buck and Eddie actually started in 201. Down to the way that "Practice rounds have blue caps. Gold caps are live." with the blue and yellow lights on the ambulance ceiling. If you pay attention while watching they have a lot of scenes with blue and yellow elements.
Some more blue and yellow coding.
But the main thing here is the will reveal.
For all intents and purposes, this is an aborted love confession, and Buck is in yellow, Eddie is in blue. But more importantly, Buck is in the yellow that we have behind Eddie for the coming-out scene.
And interestingly enough, the blue of the wall, is the blue of Buck's hoodie in the hospital when he comes out to everyone. So they are switched.
Also, during the 601 dinner, when they establish the couch thing, they are blue and yellow, like, Buck's grey is blue in the same way Eddie's beige is yellow.
So the idea is that Eddie will be sandy yellow beige the same way Buck was navy blue while figuring himself out. One example of that is the sandy shirt Eddie is wearing while talking to Bobby on 804. Also the general blue and yellow coding of Eddie's arc that episode.
Something else that happened is that Eddie was wearing Buck's blue at the hospital in 805.
Which leads us to today's clip. I color-corrected the clip because @stagefoureddiediaz thought that it might be the same shirt, which would put Eddie firmly in the yellow category while talking to the priest, and tie things to that conversation in 601.
This puts more into the theory that Eddie find his way to his shade of yellow the same way Buck found his shade of blue. I think since Buck worked through darker shades of blue to find his color, Eddie will do the opposite and will be lighter shades of yellow, working up to something in this real of yellow.
And that the buddie canon will be with Buck in his blue and Eddie finally in his yellow. So I'm on high alert for them in blue and anything that could be categorized as yellow.
And this got longer than I planned oajksoaksoaks if you read this I love you 🫶
I will taglist this one (interact with this post if you wanna get tagged)

Well. I was going to post this batch of drawings the day Star came out, but uh... yeah. How we all doing fellow Americans?
I'm definitely better off than most of the country, I'm in one of the safest blue states that just voted to protect abortion rights, but I'm worried for friends and family, for minorities and vulnerable groups in general, and even with my position of relative privilege, as a woman in America I'm still fairly worried for myself too. God, I can't believe we're in this position again. I have so much I could say, but most it's very angry, and I can save that for other spaces. Let's focus on art for now.
So, I really loved Star, I felt it was a great ending to the story, and wrapped up the emotional arcs of our three protagonists very neatly - especially best girl Frostdawn. God, what a gorgeous name. :D I was on the Froststar train all the way, but honestly, getting such a beautiful medicine cat name for her has made me way happier that she didn't immediately lose it to become Froststar. As soon as I saw that name, I knew I had to draw her in a lovely dawn setting, so here it is. :D I also have been wanting a new phone case for a while, and with my birthday coming up I figured this was the perfect drawing to use for a new phone case and splurge a bit. ^^ The case hasn't arrived yet, but I'll post a pic when it does.
Here we have Frostdawn sitting by the edge of the lake, basking in the glow of a new dawn for herself and her Clan, finally happy and free from the trauma and the responsibility of saving her Clan that weighed on her for so long from such a young age. She has an even bigger scar on her throat now, since Splashtail attacked there yet again and left a pretty big gash, and she's got a pretty decent-sized scar across her shoulders now too, and a few smaller ones scattered from Splashtail's final attack.
I'm very happy with how this turned out. :D I love how the colors all came together, how the scar turned out, the background, all of it. :D

Hero Of Changing Faces
Ch.3 pt 2
Looking arround, even if everyone got out of the way of the blast, the tracks would likely fall on everyone after. Danny was running on instinct when he grabbed Biker who was furthest away and threw him into Actual Bat. He then started growing an ice shield arround everyone.
The thing about his core's abilities is that they're way stronger than his basic abilities. Yes, he could make an ectoplasam shield more quickly, but that would break on impact. His ice was more tiring, and he would have to let go of the ice on the ride, but it wouldn't break unless he let it.
The shield was paper thin at first, but then he let go of the ride and it grew to arround an inch before the blast.
The girl in overalls hugged a guy(?) In a studded leather jacket as he(?) yelped at the sound. The mother hugged her kids as they stared up in amazement, and the gentleman just watched him appraisingly.
The rails feel through the flames with a loud creak and clang. They bounced off the ice and tore into the ground.
Only once the flames died and metal stilled did danny release the ice. Three other people were running up to them. One dressed in black and blue, one covered in primary colours, and the daylight one, Signal.
As the shield lowered, the gentleman thanked both him and the bats, "I'm sorry, but i need to find my family"
"That's fine," Actually Stealthy (the one in black and blue) said "Spoiler will be at the gate, she'll help you find them, Mr. Wayne" The gentleman nodded and ran off.
The rest of the bats wasted no time getting everyone evacuated and checked for injuries. Another person who looked like a bat showed up soon after to help.
"So, you're a Meta?" Colourblind Test asked.
"What's a Meta?" Danny immediately shot back, as everyone in earshot winced for some reason.
Colourblind Test squinted at him and opened his mouth to say something before Big Bat inturupted. "Of course," he grunted, "there are no Metas in Gotham," before nodding at Danny and stalking off.
Signal sighed and hopped over. "Sorry about Batman "(His name was actually Batman??)" and Robin. The whole No Metas In Gotham rule is more to warn aginst going out thinking you're invincible then getting hurt."
Robin (apparently) aborted his angry squawk halfway through and stalked off to Nightwing.
"All well and good, but that still doesn't answer what a Meta is."
Signal stopped short of his next sentence and gaped like a fish at him for a few moments. "Are you serious?" He ended up choking out.
Danny nodded and gestured for Signal to continue.
"Right! Ok then, Well, I'm... a Meta"
A blank stare
"Right, doesn't help. So, a Meta is anyone with extraordinary abilities. Usually humans who've been through some sort of life-or-death situation, or exposed to some sort of compound that releases latent abilities. A prime example of the latter there would be the Flash family, or Poison Ivy."
Danny was to busy thinking about how perfect of a cover this was to think of how he knew exactly none of those names."Alright, cool cool. I need to tell my parents. And my sister... Oh Ancients, everyone nearly just died."
Signal nodded as if he were waiting for that fact to hit. "Come on, I'll help explain it to your family, and get you checked for shock." Danny nodded, so exhausted enough to forget his hair was still all snowy.

So! Who noticed the cameo beforehand! I wouldn'tv'e! (Edit, i actually didn't realise he was there at first. Wrote the first chapter and was just 'who is that?' Then i started ch.2 and was like 'Bruce Wayne?!?!?')
I should also note how I'm gonna use names before the next arc starts.
The name I use while writing will be determined by the name most characters will be using for them in the scene. Like how Duke was refered to as 'Duke' until he put the Signal suit on. Then he was 'Signal'.
This is important because for reasons to be explained, Danny has 9 of them.

I am seeing suppositions for UnSub!Reid on the revival and, as fun as the concept sounds like, I would actually hate to see it on the actual show. Why? Simple really.
I don't want my favorite character to die.
Like I think some forget this is not a shonen anime- if Spencer comits crimes he wouldn't had an redemption arc and then come back to his found family with a hot new look- he would just be killed. Point blank. Every single UnSub that was shown in CM no matter their intentions, or their motives, were either sent to Jail for eternity or killed off. And like what is the thing they constantly repeat all the time about Unsubs that already went to Jail? They won't go back. So they either kill themselves or get the cops to do it for them. You can guess what I am implying here.
Spencer was never a really morally gray character. He has his own agendas and his own way to tackle issues in manners that other members of the team never would- but he is geniuly a good hearted man. Him caring for SOME Unsubs wasn't him going full "oh yeah they were right to murder those people because... society™" he just felt bad for them. He is utterly compassionate. Being a total bitch that makes questionable decisions doesn't makes him gray- it makes him human. Even at his lowest, when he DID hurt other humans beings (emphasis on hurt, not kill) he got terrified, he insolated himself from his team and subconsciously convinced himself he was better off left to rot. He felt regret over the thought his actions could had caused fucking Cat to have an spontaneous abortion. FUCKING CAT.
Spencer was put through the ringer but his heart of gold remained, for him to go full Joker out of nowhere only to get killed off and be forevermore remembered as "that Genious cop that started up really sweet but then shit happened and he fell off the badgon." would be an fucking insult to anyone that ever cared about his character for fucking 20 years and a really weird, offending move that I hope they never ever think about pulling.

How do you think each Tsukihime girl would feel about getting pregnant?
Ok so this is what we're doing now huh
Arcueid: Can Arc even get pregnant? I'm going to go with no but even if she can chances are she knows only the vaguest of details about it. Any Arcueid pregnancy adventure is going to involve an awful lot of explaining basic facts of human biology to her while she glosses over major details in favor of fixating on small points most other people don't consider important
Ciel: Ciel is going to cry from joy not so much because she got pregnant but because the fact that she can get pregnant now means she's truly free of her curse. Her body can once again change and grow and even bear children. The next time she sees Noel she goes on and on about how happy she is and how wonderful her life has become and inadvertently pisses Noel off so badly she ruins her entire week
Noel: Noel's first thought on learning she's become pregnant is to be happy at finally achieving a little slice of a normal life, her second thought is to call Ciel and try to rub it in her face as hard as possible, and somewhere distantly in third is the fact that she is in no way ready to become a mother and oh god this is going to fuck everything up
Satsuki: I think she's just normal about it actually. Satsuki's narrative position as a love interest is to be the normal classmate, the girl next door, an ordinary person drawn into this supernatural world by happenstance rather than someone steeped in it like the rest of the cast and this means her reaction to getting pregnant is just normal too
Akiha: Getting pregnant makes all of her self-loathing and belief that she's a monster crash down on her at once. Given the blood of demons that she carries, given what her family has done, is it really right to bring any more of them into the world? Should not the Tohnos simply end with her? Also more than anyone else she experiences pregnancy as total body horror - her frame simply isn't built for it and she finds it both painful and disgusting. Combined with the extreme hormonal fluctuations of pregnancy and their emotional effects I think she tries to kill herself at least once
Hisui: She's really quiet but from the way that she smiles you can tell that she's simply too happy to express herself well. Second most normal about it after Satsuki
Kohaku: She sits staring into space and dissociating out of her mind for six hours straight and then brews herself an abortion drug and quietly takes care of it without telling anyone

(Looking to see if the Freud centipede isn't here)
GODDDDDD THE SPRINGER IMPREGNATE HIS MOM ANON has a brilliant evil mind.
The worst part for Prowl was that Springer wasn't as aggressive in sex, he opened him pretty good, he fingered his valve until he was able to take his size and then he slammed his spike in like he was home. All the nodes inside him got stimulated at the same time, and the pacing was perfect.
And holy frag his son was hot, nice broad torso, strong arms and handsome face panting and grunting making his mom overload so much it actually made him crash. And he kept going while his tacnet kept him barely online, plowing him so much that Prowl would never find a spike nor stud like that one.
Imagine if he indeed managed it, getting his own mom pregnant. Imagine the sheer horror Prowl felt, of learning the hard way the dangers of never letting his son know who are his parents. And yet he feel so attracted to the idea of being his own sparkling's carrier and grandcarrier.
After that he could feel half the tension between both disappearing. And made him clutch the secret of his progeny even more tight, in hopes his older son wanted to fuck him silly again.
hrghh god, Prowl being a pervert and keeping his secret even better now that Springer is fucking him is so much nastier. Springer's just so hot, all broad and strong and his spike makes Prowl's pussy drool, the thought of being bred by his own son makes him clench hard around Springer's thick cock, milking for its transfluid, forge welcoming the filthy coding... He could never tell Springer that he's his carrier now. Maybe he planned to, one day, or maybe he never did plan to tell him, but he can't risk letting the secret out now.
Springer Oedipus arc where Tarantulas finds him and tells him all about how Springer's been laying his seed into his mommy. If we wanna go lore accurate then maybe he pokes his own optics out. Maybe he gets angry and demands Prowl abort that disgusting bastard growing in his forge, no matter that it's almost ready to be born. Maybe he just pops a boner. oooor maybe Tarantulas doesn't find him in time, maybe Springer has many, many babies with Prowl before the secret gets loose...

ok so I saw that alicent is pregnant… and she'll give birth to Maelor or take moon tea and abort the baby…pls tell me that it’s all a bad dream :(
*Spoilers Ahead* Oh, dear anon, I wish I could tell you it’s all a bad dream 💚
I saw the leaks as soon as they came out and for days I’ve been discussing them with friends and mutuals. If it gives you any consolation, we know only that Alicent will feel her stomach in episode 4, ask the maester to prepare 🌙 ☕️ , and then drink it secretly. I’ve read all kinds of interpretations for this, but please be reminded that this is all we’ve got in terms of the leaks; the rest is speculation. Three scenarios are floating around:
a) Alicent takes the moon tea as a form of birth control. This implies that it’s not the first time she’s taken it, and it’s her regular habit to take some after she’s had sex with Criston. I think the way the scene is set up and delivered in episode 4 will determine whether Alicent has asked for moon tea before (What is her reaction? Does the maester seem to have prepared this before for her? Does he speak as if she’s asked him to make moon tea for the first time?).
b) Alicent takes moon tea as a form of abortion. The way “Alicent feeling her stomach” is interpreted is that her pregnancy is advanced (although idk how that can make sense given that Alicent and Criston have been having sex for a few weeks?) or that she fears she might be pregnant because she has failed to take moon tea this whole time and she might be experiencing the early symptoms of pregnancy like nausea, fatigue etc (which would make her pregnancy around 2-4 weeks, but certainly not at a stage when she can feel anything in terms of movement. Perhaps she’s touching her stomach out of concern and fear for what she has to do.)
c) Alicent takes the moon tea, but she stays pregnant nonetheless, and this pregnancy results in the birth of Maelor. The speculation gets wonky after that. I’ve read all kinds of things, that Alicent tries to kill herself by the lake as we see in the trailer (I’d hate that!) and even that she marries Larys to conceal the bastardy (since Criston’s vows as a white cloak are for life and they can’t get married, and if he’s found out to be the father he’ll be executed).
My overall reactions:
I would be fine with Alicent taking the moon tea as a form of birth control or abortion if the show does not melodramatize this moment or exploit it to give Alicent further reasons to resent herself and additional “sins” to atone for the whole season. Please, writers, let her move beyond that characterization and give us further insight into her psyche and a well-rounded portrayal of her character.
In case her pregnancy is advanced, taking the moon tea can be extremely dangerous (we know this because it almost killed Lysa) so I wouldn’t want to see this pain inflicted on her. We also know that there are religious qualms for those who adhere to the faith of the seven regarding moon tea (Margaery was convicted because Pycelle confessed he brewed her moon tea six times) so I wouldn’t want my girl to go on hating herself for something like that.
Most importantly, giving Alicent a bastard child and making Maelor a bastard would be character assassination for me. I’ve read that the writers might go down this lane for the Rhaenicent parallels and to further highlight the tragedy and her “hypocrisy” but it just doesn’t make sense to me. It also highly affects both Alicent’s and Maelor’s arcs in S3. Therefore, I am hesitant to believe that the writers would so deviate from canon to show us Alicent pregnant with baby Maelor. Does this mean they can’t if they want to? No, it doesn’t, but the chance, at least to me, is very slim.
I hope I’ve alleviated your fears somehow! Let us see what actually happens.

i reread tam lin by pamela dean this week and it's really interesting to me how this novel is the only tam lin retelling i've come across that still includes janet's pregnancy (i assume there's got to be at least one more out there, this is just the only one i've personally read*). i suppose it's because you can still make the overall arc story work if you have a romance instead of a pregnancy to motivate janet, but i think the fact that in some versions janet's second meeting with tam lin occurs because she's gathering herbs at carterhaugh to induce an abortion tells us a lot about her character and i would love to see more versions explore the themes of bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. the fact that pamela dean's novel is set during the early 1970s and roe v. wade explicitly happens during the course of the story also really threads those ideas throughout the story and i think it would be interesting to see someone tackle a version of tam lin set after the overruling of roe v. wade.
*apparently kimberly bea's upcoming novel the changeling queen is a retelling of tam lin in which the heroine is a midwife, though i believe it's actually a prequel about the fairy queen so that's a bit different (i'm definitely going to keep an eye out for it).

Pierce Brown Light Bringer Q&A
I went to pierces book signing tonight and I will attempt to regurgitate everything I can remember since I didn’t take notes
When asked if there’s any characters he regrets killing off, he said Trigg. But he also said he has a different answer every time someone asks that
He talked about how he writes two different types of deaths—deaths that feel like the end of an arc, and deaths that feel like they cut off in the middle. He said the latter are more like life, and that’s why they hurt more, and why he’s more likely to regret killing them. Trigg is one of these, as is Fitchner
Speaking of Trigg, his aborted arc factored into the decision to add ephraim as a pov character—it allowed him to explore Trigg and his backstory even after he was gone
The other povs in iron gold were specifically chosen because each had a bone to pick with Darrow, and also because he wanted a high, mid, and low color pov
He was complimented multiple times on how he writes female characters, and his response basically boiled down to “I subscribe to the radical idea that women are people”. He said it’s funny that no one ever compliments him on his ability to write complex male characters
Related to the above, both victra and Aja were originally conceived as male characters, but he couldn’t quite make them work until he flipped the gender. He said that after making victra a woman, he immediately knew exactly who she was and she became incredibly easy to write
Speaking of victra (she got a lot of love, as she deserves), someone asked for a random fact about her, and he said she plays Karachi, which is a gambling game, but she doesn’t want anyone to know because she doesn’t want people to think she’s reckless. Everyone knows.
When asked how he feels about Lysander, pierce said “he’s doing his job,” both in universe and as a vehicle for the story. He also said this was always the path he’d imagined for Lysander
Some of his favorite lines are “do not fear for me, pity them” and “worthy”
He called Darrow a drama queen, and said that he often talks out loud while writing, and darrows internal monologues get weird reactions from friends who overhear (“who’s the motherfucking consequence?!?”)
Darrows experience in light bringer (in particular his reading of the path to the vale) was very much inspired by pierces own struggle trying to write light bringer. He said they both had to learn that the right path is not always forward, sometimes you have to go back
Light bringer was by far the hardest book for him to write (he said “if you ever want to know what the hardest book for an author to write was, just look at how long it took to do it) but he said it’s also possibly his favorite
When asked if any characters or relationships surprised him, he said yes absolutely. Sevro was apparently supposed to be a tertiary character, but basically hopped off the page, and victra was another surprise. He also said (light bringer spoilers) the relationship between Cassius and Lyria was also a huge surprise, but he realized on writing their first interaction that they would absolutely love each other
He also said that the snark between Darrow Cassius and sevro just flowed really easily, and that Darrow and Cassius understand each other, but that Cassius simply Does Not Get sevro
When asked about bringing the jackal back as a clone, he said it was an effort to explore cloning in a way that, in his opinion, has not been done particularly well in many other media. He also said it came about because there was more to explore with virginias relationship with her brother
Tongueless was a hat of death kill, but he told us the original backstory he had planned for him. Apparently tongueless was a high up leader of the syndicate, who was deposed by Lilath when she came in and instigated a coup
He said he tries to write using “South Park writing rules”, meaning instead of saying x and y and z happen, he always uses x happens but y happens or y happens therefore z happens. He said this helps keep things from feeling predictable or trite
When asked what he hopes people take away from the series, he said he doesn’t want to say, because he fears that would be showing his hand for red god. But he did say that what he hopes people take away from light bringer is the same thing darrow tells sevro in morning star “we keep looking for the light, but we’re it”
And lastly, in the signing line, I asked him when sevro found out his father was ares, and he told me it was “probably around the same time darrow found out”, and said a lot of that is because sevro had spent a long time hating his father, because he could always sense he was being shut out. He mentioned that children can tell when there are walls there, and it can actually have a very damaging impact on their mental stability (mental instability? I said. sevro? Never.) anyway rip to my sevro joined the sons pre series theory, you will be missed, but it’s nice to have an answer thanks Pierce
Anyway it was a very fun time, if I remember more later I will add it
#red rising#pierce brown#light bringer#$36 plus I got a signed copy of light bringer and he signed my copy of morning star#well worth the cost

so, steph in the canon text choose to carry her pregnancy to term and give her child up for adoption. this is generally understood to be bc the writer of that issue/run was pro life, but taking the text at face value, what does it say that steph chose what she chose? is it coherent with her character? could it be read as another symptom of internalized mysoginy? or is it incoherent with her character/would it be more thematically interesting to have her have an abortion?
Really really good question I've been mulling this over in my head for weeks. To answer the last question first, I honestly think the issue with the pregnancy arc is less about the choices Steph makes and more to do with how clunkily anti abortion Chuck Dixon is. Like I do think it's very possible to be fully pro choice but also unwilling to abort your own pregnancy. I fought alongside my friends to repeal the abortion ban in Ireland but at the same time I can never picture myself ever getting one, because for me the second I become aware of it it's real to me, not just a clump of cells. But I know full well that's just my own sentimentality and there's no scientific backing, like logically it IS just a clump of cells and also there's a whole patriarchal society dedicated to stopping women from having bodily autonomy, which is why I'd never try and push that belief on others or discourage them from whatever choice they feel is best. So basically I would struggle hard to ever do it, but if you want to, hell yeah abort that thang! No judgement from me or moral reasoning needed from you.
And because of this I could see Steph being the same. I could even see certain story beats playing out the same if they were allowed just a bit more nuance instead of being a conservative after school special. Steph lashing out at her mom and counsellor for suggesting an abortion, not because it's a Bad Thing to do but because it feels to her like her mom is already trying to sweep this under the rug like it never happened, and Steph herself hasn't even come to terms with it. Steph feeling isolated from her peers, again highly plausible it just needs better dialogue than what we got in the original. We could even have scenes of Steph grappling with the idea of an abortion, and wondering how much of her aversion to it is her own choice and how much is internalized misogyny. I think her arc of deciding to have the baby and give it up works best, although a well written abortion au would be super interesting to read.
So basically for me the choices Steph makes in the original run are very coherent with her character, and what actually makes it fall flat is the clunky dialogue and heavy handed anti abortion writing. If Steph was written by someone other than Chuck Dixon during that time, I could see her being pro choice while also being unwilling to abort the baby herself. And it could have been written with a lot more nuance and acknowledgement of what teen mothers go through, instead of just what Chuck Dixon thought Good Teen Moms should do and say in this filthy world of liberal values.
From what we got in canon, I'd say Steph probably grew out of the anti abortion mindset as she got older. I don't think she'd ever regret her decision, but I do see her looking back and cringing at some of the ways she acted because wow the internalized misogyny JUMPED out. And if she ever came across another sobbing teenager with a positive pregnancy test, I'd say modern adult Steph would make sure they knew all their options with zero judgement. And helping that young girl would probably dredge up a million different emotions that she would struggle to name.
So tl:dr, taking the text at face value Steph has boatloads of internalized misogyny specifically around abortion. But I don't actually think her choices are out of character, more so that the entire narrative is written less as a story and more as a moralizing conservative rant on pro life where everyone feels like a caricature. It would actually be quite simple to tweak the dialogue and clunky scenes and end up with similar character choices just... better written. Where her mom and counsellors aren't evil for suggesting abortion but Steph still feels hurt and lashes out anyway. Where her peers say the wrong things and leave her feeling alienated. Where she weighs her options and gets more narrative space to mull over all the consequences. It would be my preferred way to rewrite the arc, but there are a lot of changes that could be made and I'm open to reading about all of them.
Thank you for the ask! Sorry it took so long to respond I was chewing over the whole concept haha.

Elethyn was bad enough but I'd argue the shit Lily did with Honey was worse cause unlike Elethyn who is an adult character, Honeycrisp is canonically 5. Well, 10 now cause she ages in real time but the character was 5 at the time, and Lily put her in a ship, wrote her getting hatecrimed, made joking sexual innuendo, tried to force a mating bond on her and Corazon in Madhouse before that arc got aborted cause they stopped being friends, and no one remembers this but I swear to god there was art of Honey hitting on Mags and her mother Ascentia drawn by Mikaila on stream once.
