I also don't feel like the book overly 'demonizes' Curlfeather.

Curlfeather isn't who Frostpaw thought she was at the beginning of the arc, and she also isn't exactly who Frostpaw thinks she is now.

I feel the need to point out that Curlfeather is dead. Frostpaw can briefly speak to her (though i've seen people question whether she really speaks to curlfeather or just her own perception of curlfeather), but at the end of the day, Frostpaw will never really get to have a genuine unbarred conversation with Curlfeather. Frostpaw has to live with memories. Make sense of memories.

Maybe it's not entirely true that Curlfeather's affection was conditional, but that's Frostpaw's interpretation, her rage, her grief, her way of coming to terms with the fact that her mother used her. Frostpaw can't ever know whether her mother only loved her because she was useful. How could Frostpaw ever know? Curlfeather's dead, and Frostpaw's the one who had to live with the consequences of what she's done. The book isn't demonizing Curlfeather, it's showing the ways her actions impacted Frostpaw, and unfortunately, Curlfeather isn't alive to set the record straight about anything Frostpaw's traumatized mind may not know.

It’s finally happened.

After almost a decade on this site, I found another Tumblr user in the wild. I stopped to tie my shoe with rainbow laces this morning outside the silversmith at Colonial Williamsburg, and I heard it.

“I like your shoelaces.”

Oh. Oh no.

I responded the only way I could. “Thanks.” And then I reluctantly added, “I stole them from the president…and if that makes sense to you, I’m very sorry.”

The poor man, in full Colonial dress, stared at me for a long moment. And then burst into laughter. And said, “I haven’t thought about that in YEARS and this has never happened to me before.”

Yeah. Me neither. Not until today.

still so charmed by the way rose tyler is so unapologetically lower class without the narrative like. consistently telling you that. it’s all stuff you see between her flat and her bottle blonde hair with roots poking through and and her clumpy mascara and her clothes that don’t fit quite right and her passion for looking out for the underdog. it’s just so refreshing to have the protagonist of a show not be so squeaky clean and polished or a complete antihero but just some completely normal girl shaped by the way she grew up

My fucking cat has figured out how to gently dig his claws into my eyelid and pull my eyes open while I'm sleeping. He does this. It does not hurt. He is remarkably precise and gentle. I however am asleep when it happens and do not appreciate being clockwork oranged by a needy clingy goddamn animal who thinks he needs attention.
