his obsession was obvious — tired eyes steady on the sizzling pan in front of him, casual as ever even while you hounded him over a dish you’d eventually realize you forgot to put in. cursing under your breath and apologizing to the cook who seemed unbothered apart from the scolding glance in your direction.

he’d argue over it with anyone else, call them some mean name unapologetically and borderline torment them for the rest of the shift, prioritizing other orders just so their tables would stiff them, ignoring every qualm or complaint they’d run in with. it wasn’t like they could really do anything about it anyway. he’s organized, fast, calculated, all results of a well-seasoned history in the business of burns and cuts and smoke breaks. too good to find a replacement for even if he was an asshole.

in the same way he kept his station clean — focused mind evident by the knives sharp and gleaming, sleeves neat and rolled up under the contrasting apron littered with the marks of hard work — he held out a sort of reverence for you. whether it was letting fries cook for a few seconds too long to pass them off to you after an offhanded comment about ‘not having time for breakfast that morning’, or just the subtle reassurance that someone was listening to you, he was warm in his own ways.

the cold air hitting your skin after standing and serving for hours felt like both much needed relief and a slap in the face. catching yourself not un-pleasantly surprised to see Scott taking a break himself, finding respite on an old milk crate, cloud of smoke drifting away from him as he looked over.

“bad day?”

“bad week.” you corrected, hesitating for a second before shaking your head when he held out his hand, cigarette held loosely between his middle and pointer. a gesture he wouldn’t think to share with anyone else, the same one you’d declined times before.

you smoothed yourself down the wall behind you, sitting on the cold concrete and listening to the slow, quiet breaths of the man across from you. it was easy to talk to him about shitty customers, easy to get pissed off at him over something you’d forget all about at the end of the night, easy to watch him cleaning up from the spot he reserved for you on the counter, and even easier to sit with him and say nothing at all.

you sighed when you checked your phone, the time telling you your break was just about over. you let your head fall back and watched as Scott stepped on the remnants of his peace and walked over to you, hand outstretched for you once again.

“hungry?”

i don't think it would even comprehend with all four in the beginning, they'd just start drifting to you sort of naturally without realising what they were doing

price would definitely try and find ways to be closer to you like training or isolated missions just so he can hold you without it being weird or without you trying to catch on. it's been years since the familiarity of that feeling settled in his bones and he doesn't want to let go so easily especially when your touch just soothes a deep part of him. will find every excuse to try and touch your shoulder/hand/back during briefings/missions/training just so he can savour the feeling for more the second but its always so fleeting barely giving him a chance. it almost aggravates him how much you seem to have control and it isn't until you give him a gentle hug that he's made his mind up, he's not going anywhere especially not without a fight

simon trying to fight for your attention and failing miserably at the fact that he claims he doesn't need it. he's not the most subtle guy, not the most emotional so he finds it a tad confusing that he's feeling so strongly especially when you touch him. especially because he doesn't let another soul to do the same but you feel safe. he just kind of claims your touch, manhandles you gently to take you away from prying ears and eyes so he can hold you to his hearts content no questions asked. the type to remember how your hand had touched his arm, his finger slowly drifting over his skin in the same place relieving every emotion flooding his body, his heart aching for more. your touch is a drug and he's heavily addicted

gaz's got about 1000 things brewing on his mind, why would touch be even on that list. so the first time you touch him, he's just in shock for the first couple seconds. not used to your hand feeling so incredibly soft and warm on his calloused skin. you can bet he's constantly fixing and basically becoming your handyman so that you have ample chances to touch and be close to him. just so he can feel the sensation again. and everytime he promises himself to stop but he only falls further each time

and soap, it's like the puzzle piece that he so desperately needed to complete him. it's the first time your hand gave him the gentle squeeze and rub that he finally understood why people chased that feeling. he was hooked on to it the second you gave it to him. the chaos of his daily life ceased, the calmness washing over whenever he felt your skin press against him. it's a feeling he always managed to suppress way deep down but those back rubs you give him, he could swear he'd go to war for. practically begs for them every chance he gets whenever he's free

*Well, there is a door here.

It seems... odd. It doesn't have a handle, but seems like it'll open on its own when some kind of condition has been met. There's no note on it, but upon closer inspection, it appears to be the kind of automatic doors seen on subway trains. Though there is a window on it, the area beyond it is completely dark and impossible to discern.

The sound of people can be heard when near the door... as if the other side is connected to some sort of public area... perhaps a train station?*
