Idc I will continue to empathize w Stanley.. why are ppl so against writing him/imagining him in situations where he’s expressing his soft side, and as a character, we need to understand that so much of his crazy moments are comedic exaggeration. He’s a comedy relief character in a cartoon. We can’t interpret every single thing he’s ever said/done as a defining statement of who he is because that’s not what it was meant for. It’s like saying Mabel is a domestic abuser because she kidnapped a boy band and kept them in her room!! There’s multiple ways to interpret Stan and I’m not sure why there’s a reason to be upset if someone doesn’t always write him as “The Asshole” 😭

The show did a lot of work to discredit him early in the show to make his backstory even more tragic and transformative. He’s a tragic character that has a “heart of gold.” Ford literally ends his notes on Stanley as being extremely selfless, the most selfless person he’s ever known. Stan’s selflessness is less obvious, not as overt. If he were any different, he likely would’ve given up on the portal way earlier on. He’s dedicated. Undyingly loyal. And emotional.

It’s not out of character for Stan to act altruistically if he’s put in the right circumstances. Give him a loving community and a family, and he thrives. And some of us like to think of how much different things might’ve gone for him if he had that much earlier in life.

AU... Where Stan becomes Shermie's legal guardian

I like the idea that Shermie is the younger brother of the Stan twins. I think it's going well for him, given the family dynamics within the Pines and the fact that Shermie was never heard from beyond being the "twins' grandfather." (I know Shermie doesn't have much of a canon role).

And well, the AU is about Stan getting stability because he now has to take responsibility for Shermie... After Filbrick and Caryn died.
