I like the idea of the Jason’s murder investigation fic but the majority of the fic not even having Jason on screen. Like it’s cas centric- love seeing her investigate and fix problems AND I love seeing her take on a cause- she does these in canon I just love seeing them in fic too- but the point of this ask- Jason’s just like. An uncooperative witness to his own murder.

She’s able to tell when he’s uncomfortable and exactly how and what kind of discomfort but she can’t make words come out of his mouth. Is the question “did Bruce kill” or is it “who killed Jason” or is it a parallel to BG where cas “is a murderer” and Bruce refuses to believe it. Is the fic Cas seeing that Jason, though he doesn’t want to focus on it, blamed Bruce for his murder, and trying to find out exactly what happened that night because she thinks Jason is *wrong*? That he’s blaming Bruce for something that’s not his fault?

Part of her wants to be mad at him for being so self righteous about it. Sarcastically thinking something along the lines of “Poor Jason got murdered again but he can forgive, and if he doesn’t tell anyone then he doesn’t have to let go of the idea that he’s the victim who *can* forgive, and Bruce is the one who hurt him” like the idea that he’s pushing away investigation because he wants to continue believing he was hurt by Bruce, an angle from Cas motivated mostly by her feelings that Bruce is good and wouldn’t kill

Oooh yeah I love Cass being angry at Jason about it I love them being so frustrated with eachother being so confident and sure of what the other needs (they're both wrong. It's therapy.) I love Jason and Cass's relationship being messy as fuck in general. I think from the way it was brought up with Duke finding out that it was Bruce through a meta vision she wouldn't be able to tell herself Jason was trying to frame Bruce especially when she can see him lying to protect Bruce, I love this AU so much and Cass's frustration at struggling to sort Jason out between "vigilant/coworker, villain, victim and uncooperative witness", and Jason perceived Cass' investigation, which she considers an attempt to help, as a threat... Just, them being messy, disaster siblings who don't know eachother but cannot be strangers either. (And Duke in the middle lmao- I'd say "poor him" but knowing him his solution to those tensions would be more chaos). And then Rose and Cass being also very normal about eachother, Roy and Rose's relationship after Lian's death, Roy having three different mental breakdowns and trying, as the most adult of the adults in the situation, to keep the boat from sinking... And in the center of it Cass is dragging the boat forward with sheer dogged determination and the will to see this through...

Cross Stitch Musings

Is it weird that I want to make cross stitch boardgames on the plastic canvas?

Lol, like Scrabble. Cause I think the letter tiles would be so cute!

Or like maybe Clue? Cause fitting some of the long-ass room names in the finite space would be an interesting challenge.

Or like Checkers but with fun and random colors like bright pink and lime green? Cause why not, lol.

Top 5 Arthur episodes?

D.W. Goes to Washington: It's a very close race between this one and #2, but I gave the edge to this one because almost every line here is classic. It's full of hilarious Imagine Spots and great D.W. zingers.

The Rat Who Came to Dinner: Another episode that's full of great jokes. The dynamic between Ratburn and Arthur's family is comedy gold.

The Contest: The pastiches of different animation styles alone puts this one in the top five, but it's also in service of some wonderfully absurd mini-stories with classic jokes. ("My brain was on cruise control" is the Arthur quote that gets the most use in daily life).

Buster Hits the Books: The pastiches of the different books are hilarious.

Arthur's Almost Boring Day: I had a very tough time choosing the fifth episode. I went with this one because the fighting between Arthur and D.W. reaches a hilarious fever pitch that goes beyond any other episode.

also it seems like japan does have something sort of similar to ouija boards - a game called kokkuri which also involves communicating with a spirit. i still just don't see ryuji as the sort to be interested in supernatural or paranormal stuff, even if other kids are, so i feel like his knowledge about ouija boards/games similar to it would be limited as best, so he wouldn't be as wary or scared about it as others might be.

You immediately rushed to help him, he seemed to be in so much pain.

Relieved that he wasn't mad, you helped him to get comfortable with some pillows, got him a painkiller and convinced him to eat something, because "yes, you are a hellish beast, but you still need to eat before taking this medicine".

<<My name is Zephyr, by the way>> he suddenly told you.

He told you about his powers, his life in the pits. You loved listening to him talking, his voice was so soft.

As you snuggled together on the bed, friendly chatting about why were you using that Ouija board, you realised how pretty he was.

She definitely does believe in free will and that, as a whole, people are free. This is largely informed by her own life choices and her abilities. Lucy, as a human, was able to perform grand and previously impossible feats just by her own willpower. She has made good and bad choices along the way in her life, from demon pacts to making a best friend through a gift of the boons she was freely given. While there are certainly situations where all outcomes are not good, she very much believes she has been free to make those choices. In the gang's timeline she is more than certain that it exists otherwise how would there be any realm where they can stop what is threatening them?

She is hypocritical. I won't say majorly, but she definitely is. Despite preaching pacifism and extoling the virtues of not confronting beings with a lot more power, she has a habit of doing just that. Similarly, while she constantly tries to practice empathy and encourage others to do so, she rarely has second thoughts or regrets about her more gruesome acts. She does realize this about herself. It is not a constant battle, but she does her very best to employ her own advice, but she reasons it fails so often because she does have scenarios she can no longer recuse herself from by virtue of her job and if she has tried to keep you alive and you insist on trying to make that impossible for her then she has to make a hard choice. Her guilt is secondary to the peace and safety she is trying to accomplish.

Okay so?? There are lots of things that could technically be considered pop culture magic, right? Like, Tarot comes from a card game, and ouija boards are just a hasbro game right? So like? Would using those be pop culture magic, or are they too widely accepted?

Also, am I completely making it up or have you heard of a real spirit worker using ouija boards in their practice? Or is that literally just in pop culture?

Well, you've certainly come to me with some interesting questions, dear anon!

Generally, people don't consider those examples to be pop culture magic, even though they technically fall under it. Pop culture magic often has a source - usually a piece of media, but pop culture magic also covers music, public domain, and personal projects. It's not a matter of tarot or Ouija Boards being too widespread, but rather that they don't have a source in that manner.

Tarot coming from a card game puts it in the same category as, well, divination with playing cards (cartomancy, though that's used as a broad term for any card-based divination and I hate it being used as a broad term because AGH).

And as for Ouija Boards being used by actual spirit workers or whoever else, yes. Most of the posts in my Ouija Board tag are from people who use them in a magical context, which is why there's so much "Ouija Boards don't summon demons, bad manners piss off a spirit" in there.

Other than that...not much to add. I hope this clarifies some things for you, anon!
