out of curiosity more than anything is there any specificity in the fish Norway wants you to eat, freshwater fish, seafood fish, is it an industry thing, or is it just a Norwegians are all heading towards rickets thing

the norwegian fish industry is largely sea based, which makes sense considering this country is 90% coast, and salmon is one of our big exports (and also the reason salmon sushi is a thing! salmon on sushi is not traditionally japanese). the fish youre encouraged to eat are fish with healthy fats and omega 3, and i think salmon and cod are like. the two main fish you can get. fish has always been a Big Thing in norway culturally, seeing as it's probably one of the most reliable local food sources in a place that's this much coast this far north. one of the traditional christmas meals in norway is halibut.

my impression that it's always been a Health thing because norwegians are chronically low on vitamin D and other consequences of living this far north haha. we're also encouraged to drink fish oil (tran) or take omega 3 supplements. i'm actually not sure if there's vitamin D in fish? (i know they add vitamin D to low fat milk - norwegians also drink So Much Milk. there's not a lot of milk propaganda though. you don't need to propagandize milk here. edit: there's milk propaganda too)

i also want to say that the most entitled and unpleasant people i've met have been fish industry people. when i worked at the hotel i had so many unpleasant interactions - drunk fisherman on the phone telling me he was super rich and trying to bribe me for sex workers, fisherman telling the receptionists he's serving his country and working a real job unlike us (and then leaving a box of fish in the reception, demanding that we put it in the breakfast fridge even though it would go against health and safety regulations), and of course the dreaded Annual Fishery Convention or whatever it is when all the hotels in town are full of chauvinists getting drunk every night. what the fuck is going on on those boats

just saw a post by goobiestar where tigerclaw has been put on babysitting duty and they doodled him surrounded by tiny babies thinking "i cant believe bluestar is making me babysit a bunch of drooling pathetic whiny pieces of--" and with bonefall tigerstar being a genuinely good dad (at least when his babies were tiny) i have this image in my head of firepaw imagining this is what's happening and then it cuts to tigerclaw calmly playing teeterstrike with the babies

I'm telling a super different story from the other guys in my orbit LMAO, I've noticed that also. A lot of my.... fellow satellites? Companion Comets. Peripheral Planets. Lean into the comedy angle of Tigerclaw being a nasty little boy

I especially love that one comic (I think it's Blimbo?) Where he sees his younger sibs and just starts kitty-smacking them like a real cat lmao. Top tier. If the punchline is "KITTY SMACK" you'll kill me every time.

But yah BB!Tigerclaw is really important to understand as like... a guy. Just a shitty guy, has some good things about him, but ultimately the darkness within him is run-of-the-mill. He isn't special. Firestar comes to understand that any one of the dozens of assholes in his life could have become Tigerstar-- and that's TERRIFYING.

Evil is mundane and common. Goodness is complicated and unique.

You know, sometimes I wonder about him in regards to Mythal. Not only over how intensely he struck down those who slayed her (and the severe repercussions thereof, even if he didn't realize they'd occur as they did), but the sheer conviction he holds in regards to the future. He banished the Evanuris, and in doing so, single-handedly brought devastation to his people, and Mythal's, leaving their descendants scarred and 'weak', shadows of their former selves. But it's the 'and Mythal's' that gets me. He 'avenged' her and in turn, became the 'undoing' of the elven civilization she'd loved and protected above all?

Inquisitor: That's the past. What about the future? Solas: (...) My people fell for what I did to strike the Evanuris down, but still some hope remains for restoration. I will save the Elven people, even if it means this world must die.

the scene in death island when chris jill and claire are talking about how “bioterrorists sure are stubborn” sums up all my problems w modern resi from a story standpoint

because its like why do none of these characters react differently to their circumstances and just accept them

i know its because theyre video games and they need to do the same thing over and over but still

like as bad of a villain dylan was he read jill Ieon and chris for filth and im shocked at how self aware capcom was because yeah they have those three go thru the same shit constantly and nothing changes and theres only so many times it can happen for me personally before i gotta put a stop to this

and the only emotion the main guys can have is being jaded like idk i dont like re5 and up chris because his only emotion is being jaded. his character trait of always getting his team killed and how that affects him is briefly brought up at the beginning of re6 and then despite getting flashbacks of that finn guy or whoever it Keeps Happening and all that comes of chris is that hes jaded and ‘tired of this’ but they CONTINUE. WHY? SAME WITH L/EON

in a real life situation i couldnt care less about how these people react to their bioterrorism. if it makes all the characters jaded and numb, fine. but this isnt real life, this is a story, a narrative. and to me, the narrative making all the characters react the same to all theyve been through is BORING and i want MORE

No but it means SO much to me that the bgm playing in the final scene of Advent Children is called Cloud Smiles. And that one of his final lines of dialogue is "There's not a thing I don't cherish."

Seeing him going through it during FF7 (Rebirth or og, take your pick) and how detached he is, how hurt and scared he is. His friends are there, sure, but he thinks he's literally dying from the mako degredation and constantly doubts his own identity on top of that. He hurts people around him unintentionally, and he hates himself for it.

But after all of that. He comes out the other side smiling. He learns to really accept his love for the people around him and their love for him, rather than pushing them away. Whatever his doubts or his guilt, he still has it in him to cherish everything and everyone around him.

He was never meant to be the protagonist - never meant to be a hero. That was Zack's role, all the way to the bitter end. Cloud forced himself to be the one to fill that role instead, and for the longest time he didn't quite fit. But he grew into it, and then some. He became his own kind of hero, one that Zack would've been proud of and I just. Damn.

also imo a book abt haymitch’s games would not be interesting. we already know most of the twists and turns. if anything I think it’d be more effective if collins just left the story alone maybe aside from some world building or just an anthology with short chapters from various scenes from different characters lives. and even then, I’m not sure if it’s be the best idea/ending to the franchise.

stories about a journey to the edge of the world are like heroin to me. i will love it every. single. time. even if it's not good i will still love it i don't care. quality is meaningless in the face of such a hypnotic and philosophically interesting setpiece.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who doesn't dive in and make OCs of their SSeas characters. I also don't play the game aggressively? I just kind of float around and make spreadsheets and map out my routes to get me the best cargo. I don't grind sunlight. I don't grind sphinx-stone. I pretty explicitly don't turn cannibal and I usually take the game's least bad option. But I've still gotten two ambitions and I consider myself pretty adept at SSeas at this point. Maybe that's just me...? Idk. I'm a really casual gamer. A.K. takes up 0% of my brainspace.

I think that's also a reflection on me though: I play FOR the atmosphere, not for the characters written in the setting, so it bothers me less when I see weird things, and when I do see weird things, my brain goes 'oh that's bad, +1 anarchy'.
