nothing intelligent or helpful to say about it really but we had SUCH a good time at One Hand Clapping. Everyone should go if they've got the chance.

#It was just me and my baby that went #He's actually almost two now but he's still my baby #I just wanted it to be us two because we're the only ones that we know that really appreciate this stuff irl #And yes #I mean we #My little ND baby is just as obsessed as I am #I mean he's not writing rpf #But the best way I can get him to do anything he doesn't want to do (nap eat new food ot st car rides etc) is to let him listen to the Beat #So yeah he loved it!!! He got annoyed when the interviews would cut into the songs but I'd just hand him a snack and he was good #But yeah for the most part he was just thrilled #I think his favorite part was the backyard bit he was GLUED lol and just beaming #It was a two hour drive to the theater so we made a whole day of it #We went to the mall and he played at the play place and we looked at toys for his birthday #and we got chicken nuggets and french fries and ice cream #And we had little matching crochet sweater vests #And it was so sweet for me and honestly if anyone thinks I shouldn't bring my toddler to a movie theater #Paul and Linda would very much approve so you can chill #but yeah anyways

I think the most time was taken by the final panel and adding in the finishing touches since I pretty much had to change everything to the pixel level, quite literally lol (I'm serious, I did)

Welp I hope the results were worth it! And with that, another one gets a good ending!!

I kinda didn't add sleeves in the first two panels of the final page because it didn't look good and looked janky with how I was editing it so yeah please ignore that-

The thing that kills me about the Star Wars prequel trilogy and why I will die on my hill that my problem is not that Star Wars is a tragedy, its that its a badly written tragedy, is that Anakin Skywalker was at his closest to being a good Jedi when he was ten years old.

#im not an anakin apologist by any means because I get the point of his character and Im not pro or anti jedi #my only real opinion on all of it is similar to what I was saying about Peter and Tony and the MCU yesterday #its badly written. its EVERYONE being contorted into shapes that dont make a ton of sense in service to #getting characters to where they need to end up for certain things to occur #my opinion is not that Anakin is inherently bad or good or that the Jedi are inherently bad or good #its that their entire conflict was set in motion by forcing the Jedi to act in ways that felt massively OOC when they were #first interviewing him as a kid and like.....I ACCEPT that the Jedi are supposed to be for the most part kindhearted and empathetic and all #of that which is why its so noteworthy in my opinion that this does not match with how they were FORCIBLY portrayed in those early movies #in order to ENGINEER the idea that this kid in desperate need of support but already with a lot of good instincts and positive traits #came to the order of kindly supportive literal empaths and everything went downhill from there #like kindly supportive literal empaths would not in my opinion look at a kid trying his best to be brave & stoic in completely intimidating #circumstances and surroundings and be judgmental and fairly dismissive about it as though theyve never met a kid before let alone a #traumatized one and the fact that thats kinda what happened is in contrast to how a lot of pro anakin people frame that NOT proof #that the Jedi order are inherently bad its that in that key scene and multiple others #the Jedi order were BADLY WRITTEN in pursuit of one pre-determined outcome that mattered more to the script/Lucas than #being true to their core conceit and characterizations. and thats just one example out of dozens I could list and the same holds true for #anakin's side of things so thats why I always steer far away from SW discourse #because Im like the problem with the characters in terms of the most iconic arc is not really any of the characters so much #as the plots refusal to let them actually consistently BE characters rather than just fixed and contrived stepping stones on the way to #the desired endpoint

To say, as a straight person, that a queer character's queerness is out of the blue or unrealistic is to claim that they understand the queer experience to be able to identify inaccurate representation of it.

#YOU ARE NOT A BAD ALLY FOR NOT KNOWING EVERYTHING. YOU'RE A GOOD ONE. IF YOU KNEW EVERYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE YOU GAY NOT AN ALLY.#QUEER PEOPLE ARE NOT JUST YOUR TICKETS TO ELEVATE YOURSELF AS AN ALLY ON THE OCCASIONS THAT YOU WANT TO #WE ARE NOT EVEN IN YOUR PEERS OFTEN. I basically plan to have this man in love with Penelope within 10 mins (I HAVE A PLAN! It sounds crazy but I think it'll work. Plus these two are reckless and young when married. His first crush and he's not handling it well.)

This is them. Or at the very least Penelope is definitely playing it off very nonchalantly and is kind of messing around at first, thinking that the "trickster" is "not being genuine" when he's never been more genuine in his life. She can see right through all his lies and bullshit and basically forces him to be vulnerable, something he loves yet is TERRIFIED of. Especially as she "unmasked" him so quickly (and tricked HIM.😉 Won't say how. no spoilers yet) and so effortlessly and he's just a MESS. Athena isn't helping and just watches them both fumble around, even when Odysseus is asking for some guidance, Athena just smiles and is all like "I'm the Goddess of Wisdom, not of Love. Figure it out yourself." (PENELOPE IS JUST AS MUCH OF A BLORBO TO HER AS ODYSSEUS IS, YOU COWARDS!)

I won't go into huge details. I WILL write this fic someday and I need to leave SOME things a surprise. But KNOW this man will be pulling out all the stops trying to impress her and tries to show all the things he's good at and one will be his "puzzle making".

He'll bring a puzzle to her TRYING to talk all "suave" (he'll be semi-tongue tied. Something that he's not used to and is annoyed that he can't seem to think around her)

It'll probably have a little gift inside and he'll be chatting away about how he worked hard to make it and that there's a trick to it and blah blah blah

Penelope: Oh! There's (some sort of treat or gift) inside!

Odysseus: Wait, you solved it already?

Penelope,🤨: Yes. All you have to do is this.

Odysseus, falling (more like sprinting at this point) further in love but also mad his plan to woo her didn't work: Well... Yeah. That's a gift for you.

He's trying SOOOO hard but he has to stop "showboating" to genuinely impress her. Man has to be fucking vulnerable for her to be impressed by him because she already can read his "tells" on when he's pulling something. No more "tricks". Be yourself, you fucking idiot >:D
