Now I’m tempted to do a broadway/musical movie list. I’ll have you all know that I’m unfortunately a multifaceted nerd, meaning I was also a huge theatre kid.

AAAH Okay this one is fun! So, I’ve been trying to think about this. Going off of yours, I’d say Zoro’s is for sure I’ll Make A Man Out of You. It’s just perfect for him. I think he’d also appreciate the vibes of Zero to Hero. For training purposes. Obviously.

I feel like the ASL brother’s anthem is Hakuna Matata or the unfortunate bop that is “I Always Wanted A Brother”, but Luffy’s is either “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” or “Go the Distance” (though I can see Go The Distance for Ace, too.) Honestly, Luffy would also probably just like all of the ballads that include the main character going on a journey. “How Far I’ll Go” would definitely be another contender.

Sanji is GREAT for Be Our Guest, just imagine him humming it while he cooks awjkenfawklejnfawkejfn. But I think baby Sanji stuck with Judge would have a “Waiting on a Miracle” moment. Which would make me cry actual tears.

Nami could have an “Almost There” moment with how she almost had enough money to pay back Arlong, which of course didn’t end up mattering, same for Tiana. She understands that plight.

Robin is a fun one that I can’t quite pinpoint. “Reflection” feels a little too sad, I want something more badass for her. “Let It Go” maybe? I haven’t quite decided, but I crave a power ballad for her. “Surface Pressure” might also appeal to her. She’s had to have this tough persona her whole life to protect herself, but really she’s as vulnerable and scared as anyone else. Been through a lotta trauma. Might be a good song to cry to.

Usopp would be “Friend Like Me” ALL THE WAY. Every single claim would be a boldface lie, but that’s why we love him. He’d also just rock it I’m sorry I need an artist on this IMMEDIATELY. He’d LOVE TO SING THIS SONG AND BRAG.

Franky is “You’re Welcome” ALL THE WAY. Usopp and Franky are the two I’m most confident on. I can see Franky flexing his super cyborg muscles during the rap, and “DON’T MESS WITH FRANKY WHEN HE’S ON A BREAK AWAY” i’m sorry I’m actually frothing at the idea.

Brook is difficult. I would love to disney princess him into “When Will My Life Begin” because of his time in isolation, it’s very Rapunzel. But I also want to give him something funky because - ya know. Soul King, baby. “Down In New Orleans” would just be fun to hear him sing, but obviously that wouldn’t match him unless we all agree he can be an omniscient narrator. In that case, just give him all the gospel truth songs too (with Usopp and Franky helping as other muses, of course.) OH AND OF COURSE GRIM GRINNING GHOSTS OKAY. HE’D JUST LIKE THE JAZZY STUFF.

Jimbei is TOUGH. Okay, because obviously I want to give him something mentor-y. The man mentored Luffy straight out of depression. Ugh, it’s such low hanging fruit to give him “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” if I’m allowed to include pixar. Umm..maybe he’d also like “Into the Unknown.” When you think about it, he’s had to take a lot of big leaps of faith in his life, leaving behind the world he’s known not once, not twice, but at least three times. He’d probably appreciate the themes behind the song.

Mentally insane over One Piece every day these days.

God. The amount of rants and tangets I could go on about the characters, world, themes, settings, situations, writing, designs, and and and and and and and

Honestly it boils down to how human One Piece is. Like the whole is complete fantasy but the characters themselves are relatable and realistic. I always think about how openly emotionally the main cast is and how important that is to see in literature and media. The situations are also realistic and occur in different ways in real life and history which makes the world so much deeper and interesting to explore.

It has its issues, but it also has an insane amount of good and interpretative themes and aspects that help balance some of the issues.

Notes

Zoro

- Soft features, makes him look a bit baby faced

- dark skin, many scars

- lots of creases in his brow from frowning, and dimples

- if his hair was long, it would be slick and straight

- wide nose with a slight hook to it

- wide and strong body, little to no hair

- sharp eyes that always look tired

Sanji

- angular, heavy upper eyelids and sad looking eyes

- sometimes his sharp cheek bones can make him look malnourished--kind of stayed that way after his childhood

- very few scars, all small and faded

- tattooed number 3 on his right shoulder blade

- wavy hair and strong, thin nose

- many small freckles and moles from the sun

- lean and slender body, lots of hair

Scars

Sanji

- Sanji's skin hardly ever scars due to his Germa genes. When he does scar, it's usually from a severe injury of some kind.

- There's a tiny scar on the small of his back from where he broke his back on Drum island, small scars on his wrists from a combination of his childhood and Whole Cake Island, faint burn scars on his feet from using Diable Jambe, and a well hidden scar on his forehead that hides in his hairline from the iron mask he wore when he was young. Sanji hasn't ever really spoken about his scars to anyone, and he isn't sure he'll be able to for some of them. If asked though, he might offer a little bit of insight.

Zoro

- Zoro has plenty of scars. Whether it be significant like his chest scar or eye scar, or as insignificant as faint scars on his hands from training, Zoro views each one as a promise to get stronger.

- There's obviously the scar on his chest from his duel with Mihawk, though that one isn't the only one of its kind. Zoro gained a few more from that specific duel on his chest, though they weren't nearly as bad as the big one. The scar over his eye is something he will never elaborate on, though if you ask Perona she will say he fell down the stairs and his sword caught him in the eye. He has plenty of scars on his arms and hands from training, and two rather nasty ones on his shins from where he tried to cut his legs off to escape Mr.3's wax trap.

i have to say the relationship that smoker has with the asl brothers is fucking hilarious. luffy pissed him off so badly one singular time that he followed the guy halfway into the grand line and then also into the new world just to track him down. he had to accept help from his crew in defeating crocodile and luffy did it via becoming a water balloon. and then tashigi, who he's responsible for, cried about it. he hates luffy and luffy calls him smokey and doesn't gaf. ace.... do i even have to say anything. they did it nasty sloppy style. ace annoyed the fuck out of him and you KNOW it. smoker tried to confront him in alabasta and luffy SMASHED ALL THREE OF THEM THROUGH A WALL. and then luffy escaped because ace played diversion! and smoker can't even Actually do anything because ace is a wb pirate and he canNOT afford to anger them. and sabo. i just know when smoker met sabo in movie stampede he was already like fuck me why is the ra here and then sabo was like "luffys my little brother" and smoker just wanted to straight up kill himself. he was like FUCK ME theres ANOTHER ONE OF THEM ????? and then he has to fucking work with the guy for the greater good. again.

and the rest of the family too. he can't even yell at garp because he's one of the few superior officers smoker respects. smoker's life is just a constant aneurysm and you KNOW it's bad when the one he, a marine, has the least beef with is the fucking LEADER OF THE REVOLUTIONARY ARMY. smoker i hope your blood pressure goes down because between this and the cigars you're gonna die before you reach 40

I don’t think I’ve heard people say that Luffy ruined Law’s plans, but he definitely didn’t follow the plan they had for attacking Doflamingo on the top of the castle. Thereby playing their trump card too early, which could possibly be a catalyst for Law being used as a human beanbag, having his arm sawn off, getting shot, and almost set on fire. BUT, the boys were really overpowered, and that would probably have happened anyway.

Personally, I don't think Law’s plan was inherently flawed (Doflamingo stepping down and getting arrested at Green Bit, and Kaidou then going for Doflamingo), but it did have an unforeseen flaw that scuttled it entirely, in the way COVID-19 derailed the 2020 Olympics. Like, even Akainu didn’t know Doflamingo was a Celestial Dragon, so it certainly wasn’t officials-only knowledge, but the most elite knowledge out there.

Even after this reveal, though, Law was very much in favour of the SMILE factory being destroyed, which would have brought Kaidou’s ire upon Doflamingo (Law hoped), and Doflamingo said that it had been a clever plan, Stating that weaker opponents can bring down stronger. But, also, the factory was much harder to destroy than envisioned.

I guess that Luffy encouraged Law to face Doflamingo head on, and maybe it was the only way to deal with Doflamingo, considering the chaos that had already occurred. And although Law had fought hard, buying time for the factory hopefully be destroyed, and fighting damn hard on the castle top (as acknowledged by Luffy), he wasn’t strong enough to bring Doflamingo down in a face-to-face battle (as Law and already evaluated), although, possibly if he’d been fighting side-by-side with Luffy, he might’ve been (but Doflamingo had dealt with both of them fairly quickly initially).

Anyway, unlike Bonney, Law didn’t even get to land the final metaphorical blow (although he did damage Doflamingo). And I think some people get upset, rightly to some degree, that Luffy took Law’s fight, but it’s what he does, and the main premise of the series. Kid didn’t fight Kaidou, either, and Yamato couldn’t defeat him, Bege Capone was not strong enough for Big Mom (and if not for Carrot, I don’t know how the Straw Hats would have escaped her either). Anyway, I digress. There were elements of the plan that were thrown off course, or the plan itself metamorphosed into something else under Luffy, and it had to (Kin’emon’s plan didn’t work at Onigashima either, and Oda made a very deliberate joke of Zoro and Luffy very seriously trying to stick to it.

But, yeah, maybe in smaller actions (not being stealth, going in feet and fists first) Luffy gives away some of the advantages that a well-laid plan would have. But in the bigger arena, the powers they are up against are too vast and complicated for any one plan to succeed first time around 100% (I mean there’d be no story arc, right?).

(As someone said once, maybe in tags to a post, Luffy first has to run up some stairs, and get thrown down them, and then run up them again).

why do ppl say that Luffy ruined Law's plan for Dressrosa? that plan was thwarted before they even set foot on the island bcs Law didn't know Doflamingo had the freakin World Government at his beck and call

the Straw Hats' chaotic nature was actually the reason they were able to destroy the factory and defeat Doflamingo with the help of the new allies they gathered on their side quests

so Luffy didn't ruin shit, Law's plan was flawed from the get go

Shanks is hysterical as a character concept.

He's intricately connected with so many major players of the pirate era. A link in the world's most famous chain. Essentially the oldest son of the world's most famous pirate, former best friend/life long rival/who the fuck knows to one of the other four emperors (shanks is also one of course), and the quasi-father figure of the pirate who's rapidly turning the world as it's known upside-down. Marines and criminals alike seem to respect and fear his power. His crew and civilians he protects show him immense affection and loyalty. He doesn't have a devil fruit but stands his ground against powerful enemies with off-the-charts haki abilities.

But we as an audience mostly see him getting drunk and doing fuck all, affecting the plot once every decade when avoiding it gets more annoying than dealing with it
