excerpt from my h2o inspired mermaid history book pt.1

We do know that merpeople are social, aquatic mammals. They exist in pods, similar to dolphins. These pods congregate near shore but often refuse to go on land. The vast majority of pods center around a “moon pool” (see Chapter Three: Moon Connection), a geographical land formation that merpeople tend to worship as temples. There are many of these across the globe, with varying features. Most pods, like the Hawaiian and Mako pods, revolve around a single moon pool. Other, bigger pods like the Guinea pod have more than one moon pool they seasonally migrate to and from.

As social creatures, democracy has been found prevalent in their communities. On a similar level, communication between pods, even those a great distance away, has been observed. Several pods have joined in a grander, united government. These are the Northern pod, Caribbean pod, South Pacific pod, Scotia pod, Southern pod, and the Mako pod. Each pod has its own council of appointed elders and influential figures. Among these councils, they will elect a single leader once a year. This leader travels to a congregation with elected leaders of the other pods. They will meet and discuss survival, politics, and amenities. Their meeting location rotates from each pod's main moon pool. Even pods that are not directly a part of this treaty, such as the Hawaiian pod, North Pacific,  and Mozambique pod, will work in alliance with these leaders and occasionally attend these meetings when matters are urgent, like the Great Merman Uprising (see Chapter Six: Global Political History) or the current climate crisis (see Chapter Ten: Modern Affairs and Survival)

A March-Bracken, named March. Lol. Got swooped up by a company rogue esque crew and put in a suit. U got a set of hands start scrapping and scrounging, boy!

He has a little translator box that turns that rumble speech into fairly simple coherent words, usually not more than 4 to 5 words at a time.

essentialy each member of this crew has rheir own little special way of excecuting ambushes and apprehending items, namely of which, March is very good at stalking other opposing crew members, keeping an eye on them when theyve delved into the facility and keeping tap on it for the others ! And hey, each body snatched is 5 company credits closer to the quota

In the progress of making an opposing crew to my main lethal company character group, it's a 4+ man crew, all consisting of more-so alien like species, who disregarded the company's rules and took more people aboard for efficiency but more importantly : Pirate ish behavior

They have a lot of individuals aboard disregarding the space ships crew limit, i thought it would have been an incredibly fun refrence to modding where you have more than 4 people and get silly customization options etc. also the mod where u can BE the entityies, thats a great inspo to this crew being majorly alien

They follow other crews about and swoop in last second to get that sweet sweet scrap that they didnt have to work for, whose gonna stop them anyways, the two remaining interns that are dragging their crew members bodies back that were horribly mangled by a thumper?

I'm knitting in the corner at a party

and guys my age stop by to tell me I remind them of their aunt, of their grandmother. This is a compliment and I take it as such. They confess to having tried crochet once, and I smile. They get back in line for the bathroom.

I'm knitting in the corner at a party and a queer woman sits on the floor next to me, arranges her skirt, and smiles up at me. (I try not to blush.) She asks me all the questions on her mind about my craft and I answer them, hands still moving. We swap yarn sources. She doesn't stay, but she knows where to find me.

I'm knitting in the corner at a party and everyone knows where to find me when they need a minute, when socializing is too much and the music is too loud and they need to catch their breath. They pretend to be checking in on me, which is sweet, but I can see the relief in their eyes the moment they stop performing for a house full of people. They sit down and tell me things and all the while they never take their eyes off my hands.

The party has wound down and I'm still knitting and the hosts, two guys in their twenties, thank me for "helping to curate the vibe." I had no idea that's what I was doing. I leave the party having forgotten to drink anything and without that woman's number but with many rows added to my top-down raglan sweater. I call it a night, and a good one.
