I did start this whole blog with the dreams of one day being able to draw better equines. So Yes. I did need this.#The true benchmark of my art progress is actually the quality of how I draw Little Apple.#(no seriously go look back at my little apple tag. Then come back here).#Hey welcome back! I know right! What was I even doing at the start? That was *not* a donkey!!!#That aside - I really am thrilled that I can draw her more. Even if she's only *really* in two more comics for season 2.#I wish I had more thoughts here. I'm so distracted by the donkey rotating in my brain. I missed her so monch.#Oh! Yeah I really like the parallels here between WWX and Little apple.#Specifically the sense of how we get a nod to how he's changed.#Little apple and WWX have both grown a little less lean and hungry (one literally the other metaphorically)#This whole episode is basically about WWX's desire for something peaceful and domestic in his life.#and here is little apple - his first companion from the start of his new life - changed to something softer.#Very much a 'look how far we have come moment' that is rather subtle but enjoyable.

I convinced myself to watch the first episode of the live action atla series. Some thoughts:
I REALLY liked that they recreated some shots from the cartoon, like the opening. I wasn't excited for this show, but that got me amped
I didn't like how brutal the Air Nomad's genocide was :(( I liked that we got to see more of the Air Nomads but I felt like that was over the time
The cgi and acting was,, really not great but tbf I was expecting that going in, especially with a show so heavy on magical fighting and child characters.
I don't mind that the show feels a bit more serious - the og atla fanbase are now all grown up and the show reflects that
Zuko's scar ..... why. It looks like a weird birth mark
I didn't love how overt Iroh was tbh. Outright telling Zuko that the task his father set him is impossible... where are his cryptic sayings and "accidental" diversions??? Iroh is smart enough to know that Zuko wouldn't be responsive to that
Sokka being the leader to his people!! I love that they showed how much responsibility he has on his shoulder
I also love Zuko's room, strung up with notes and drawings. It's very much giving pepe silva

I enjoy that he is very flawed and volatile.#This episode of the audio drama has a lot of great breakdown scenes featuring JC - and they all deserve a feature.#But underlying this comic is a small meta comment of 'ah man I have too many comics of JC just wailing sadly'#My goal is to draw 6-8 comics per episode - I sometimes have to truncate and cut good scenes out.#Especially when a large majority is just different flavours of trauma and toxic relationships to your self-worth.#I would also like to make a note here that just because you lose the ability to do something that is very tied to your core identity-#-does not mean your life is over. It will feel like the end of the world. It will send you into a spiral of grief. It will hurt so badly.#Sometimes we do not realize how tied up our identities can be in certain things until we are cut loose.#You don't lose yourself. I promise the pain will fade in time. I promise you will find other things to tether you. I promise you will be ok#Life moves forwards. Time moves forwards. You move forwards.#Ego death just means an opportunity for ego rebirth. You are never committed to being the same person forever.#To wrap this around to JC: Yeah I love the twist with the core transfer but man I would have loved to see JC accept the loss.#Obviously it happens for a reason (story) but I can have my AUs. #pjo#pjo tv#riordanverse#sally jackson#this shall be my non-spoiler only review of the show so far#just watched the first two episodes - they were good!#i might make a post about Percy's char so far cause i am very pleasantly surprised so far with the adhd experience vibes#my compliments to the writing team for the good good disabled character rep in this script#very pleased with almost all the characters and plot so far#my only one i'm iffy on is Sally as mentioned ^ they girlbossed her#like. book sally is most defined by her kindness and perseverance. this sally is just kind of. tough. she's tough. girlboss.#which is not necessarily a bad thing? she's still a fine character she's just different#also only semi-spoiler in my review: Chris is there! Love that Chris is there#he's just there! but i am a rogue demigod enjoyer#so his presence alone is appreciated
