i'm far too busy with life stuff to finish this but after three years I finally managed to draw a version of Orym that I like so here's this. A decade on and Liam O'Brien continues to strike me through the heart with unerring accuracy with his characters.

I am at work and cannot concentrate and started thinking about CR, as one does, and while I do understand the cast wanting to wrap everything up with a happy ending after the trilogy like campaigns, I do feel bothered by how Orym's fey pact got handled.
I've already talked a bit about how I feel about the vaxleth happy ending and might talk about it more at a later time, maybe also in connection to the Imogen and Laudna happy ending.
But the happy Orym pact ending bothers me, because it got wrapped up very weirdly, seemingly to have no consequences and to make it happy, while that was not necessary?
When I first watched it I didn't think much about it. Mostly that for Nana Morri watching it like this was an easy way out. Helping Fearne's friend, giving him more power could only help bring back Fearne safely and probably makes Fearne happy. And we know Nana Morri cares a lot about Fearne and her being happy. If they all come back alive, good and Nana Morri can see what she does with the pact. If not well she did what she could and move on. Easy as that.
But Nana Morri in the finally said she had no power on Ruidus, which fair but also not necessary. Her part of the pact was helping Orym, and she did, she gave him some spells. That is her influence and control on Rudius in making Orym stronger.
And it wasn't enough, they didn’t all come back, FCG died. You want to wrap it up happily with no consequences? The pact is broken, Orym loses his fey pact powers (or maybe not), Nana Morri couldn't help enough and Orym doesn't need to follow up his end of the deal.
Want to make it more challenging (which they could) there could be some rolls or persuasion attached to getting out of the pact. Pointing out that FCG died on Rudius. Pointing out that the first time they went noone died (cause they were there for like 5 hot seconds?).
But ultimately it bothered me that they handled it so weirdly because as I pointed out above, they didn’t need to, FCG dying could have resolved the fey pact without further consequences. And they also could have had consequences and still made it a happy ending. Orym could help Nana Morri, serve her in a way without necessarily being trapped in the feywild. As said before, Nana Morri cares about Fearne and what she wants too, there could have been a different resolution that has more consequences of a fey pact and handled the fact that Nana Morri couldn't protect everyone.
So yeah, in conclusion, why the weirdness?

The Whispered One/Vecna’s POV of the past 30 years of Exandrian history is incredibly funny. He went from immortal lich, to a god, to a regular mortal in the blink of an eye for an immortal beyond age.
In less than half a century, he goes from Immortal to Immortal + to regular ass guy. Funniest shit I’ve seen.

"Orym looks waaay up Caduceus's body." | Campaign 3, episode 111
Point of view: You are three apples tall and you are faced with something so big that your halfling body can barely grasp what it's looking at.
Orym and Caduceus are canonically the smallest and the tallest people between Bells Hells and the Mighty Nein, and I had way too much fun drawing my interpretation of Orym's perspective next to a giant-kin.
Also, there is this video going around of a tortoise being gently nudged by a giraffe as it is fleeing in terror, and I want you to think about that for a sec.
