AU, where bringing Picard back from the death is against the Continuums laws so Q decides to give Picard the next best thing: He builds an entire 'reality', where everything is exactly the same and for quite some time everything is perfect for Picard. It's just some time after the latest Trial where Picard begins to suspect that things in his life are perhaps a bit too perfect.

(Picard gives Q a hug and lives to, not exactly, regret it)

It had happened after Picards first, and hopefully last, time in the Continuum. Mostly having gotten ignored by the other Qs, Picard had become witness to what Qs life there was like.

Witness that Qs favoritism, as the other Qs saw it, of Humanity and his clear help of Picard rather than just 'taking what he wants' (what exactly that meant or was Picard really did not want to know) had in fact made Qs life there even more unpleasant. Ridiculed for trying to adapt and understand a more mortal, organic, more human viewpoint.

Q had clearly not been a fan of Picard of all people seeing and knowing of this humiliation and the awkwardness between them once Q got them back to the Enterprise had been very palpabe. The entity, Q, refusing to meet his eye and wanting to snap way but for some reason unable to do so.

Captain Picard was, as most of his friends and associates wold tell you, not an uncaring person. He sometimes had just trouble knowing how to act in certain situations, situations like this.

He knew that what Q wanted and needed right now was comfort and so in the 'heat of the moment' he gave Q what was likely one of the most awkward hugs he had ever given anyone, even children. A rather human gesture for an entity that was mocked for trying to understand Humanity.

And Picard said something he maybe should have said after Q had saved his life, maybe should have said after Q had helped him in the Trial.

"Thank you, Q."

Hoping that this would hopefully set their relationship back into more known, more comfortable waters, Picard had planned to let go of Q but the entity had other thoughts.

Because to Q this gesture seemed to have been interpreted as Q now not only being allowed in Picards personal space but that Q was also allowed to straight up ignore any sort of space between them as he pleased.

Well, Picard thought as he for the fifth time tried rather unsuccessfully and not all that seriously to get a rather clingy cosmic being in human form to let go of him, at least Q seemed to have forgotten about their run-in with the Continuum.

Something in the way when I was just realizing I wasn't a cis girl I was dressing, acting, and trying my hardest to be perceived as masculine and something in the way I'm now fully comfortable with the fact that gender identity does not equal gender expression and now all of a sudden my favorite color is pink, I dress regularly in only dresses and skirts, I keep my nails painted, I wear bows and pigtails and I couldn't care less if I'm a boy dressed in all pink with a bob and a skirt

merlin rewrite where gwen finds out about merlins magic in s1. so gwen is always there with him whenever something magical happens. also merlin finally has good advice from gwen instead of just gauis and the gecko. gwen also just does things for him no questions asked.

like merlin shows up at her doorstep dripping wet talking about a serial killing merman, and she just goes and brings out a sword and says ok lets go. merlin wasn't even there to ask her to fight but at this point he'll get all the assistance he can get.

everyone in the castle thinks they're dating cause they're always together. and they both go along with it cause it gives them an excuse to wander the town or castle alone whenever theres a magical threat.

arthur finds them in an abandoned room making a salt circle and burning herbs in a bowl and they just go "we're on a date" and "this is how commoners have a romantic date arthur, you wouldn't understand".
