Some days prior to the Poughkeepsie Regatta, a few of the boys decided to make an impromptu visit to Franklin Delano Rooseveltâs mansion, conveniently located on the river. They had been hoping to meet the President, but were instead eagerly ushered in by a young man about their age. He introduced himself as Franklin Roosevelt Jr., insisting they call him Frank.
Frank rowed on Harvardâs JV team, but had just returned from Connecticut where they lost in their annual race against Yale.
âHe ushered them into the president's library and sat them down and began talking rapidly about rowing and about coaches. As he talked, the boys gaped at the room.â
While the boys gaped at the room, looking around at all the books and knick knacks and such, I bet Bobby was gaping at Frank like I mean come on, just look at himâ
And Bobby suddenly finds himself very flustered because this very hot, 6â 4â man who happens to be the Presidentâs son is openly flirting with him. Frankâs so charismatic and charming that Bobby canât help but get all shy and bashful because how often does someone show such blatant interest in him. And Frank is leaning into his space a little as he asks more about Bobbyâs personal life, and his eyes light up and then very quickly darken when Bobby mentions wanting to attend law school.
And Don is Not a Fanâąïž like heâs suddenly bottling up all of this intense amount of jealousy because how dare this man touch Bobbyâs arm like that. But he canât do anything about it because he hasnât worked up the nerve to talk to Bobby about his feelings yet, so heâs forced to watch Frank and his bedroom eyes subtly try to coax the coxswain to go somewhere private.
#bobby always the one flirting and never knows what to do when someone starts flirting with him#obviously probably movie!verse but still#obviously movie verse not based on the real people#I was NOT ready for Frank to be that hot like goddamn#I need more âjealous Don in my life#the boys in the boat#bobby moch#boys in the boat#boys n boats#someone write this please đ#Bobby and Don#FDR JR#Poughkeepsie

When talking about Boothill's drink order in 2.6, like. Hoyo could have just glossed it over and described it as "a few" or "several" drinks. They didn't bother to program in the actual glasses or anything- it's not like any of us were gonna count them and notice if they put in the wrong amount.
But they specifically chose the number seven, and if it IS just coincidence, it is a very very fun one.
Hsr is also known to make tarot card references- we had the online event shortly before Penacony's release, I'm pretty sure there's at least a couple simulated universe occurrences and a curio, and then Black Swan's Everything.
The Seven of Cups is a card about dreams and making choices when you have multiple options it front of you. It represents resisting self-deception and false dreams, and not letting yourself be charmed by hallucinations. It is a warning to carefully consider what is real vs what is not, which is very important in Penacony as a whole, being the land of sweet dreams, and it becomes relevant to Boothill later, when Primon starts to fuck with his head.
It can also represent someone who is "deep in their cups," which is a more polite way to refer to someone who uses alcohol as a coping mechanism to an unhealthy amount.
I hate that this could be a serious comment on Boothill being an alcoholic to cope with how much horrifying trauma he's experienced...and I have to discuss it looking at Primon's ridiculous fucking face fjkdslajldk
The overall message of the card is to stand fast, keep a clear head, and make your decision. Which suits Boothill beautifully even outside of this patch, since he is the very picture of ruthlessness and straightforwardness- he is able to see that bright clear line between action and result, and he follows it doggedly! Everything he does, he does wholeheartedly and decisively! And we see it especially well when he fights through the partial regression Primon leads him into!
Straight and clear and sure as a bullet, baby!!!

In defense of Gwen in Across the Spider-Verse
Okay. First of all: This post is gonna be super long and have tons of spoilers so if you donât want to get spoiled for Across the Spider-Verse then donât read this post. I have seen way too many people hate on Gwen because of her actions and her behavior towards Miles in Across the Spider-Verse. Iâll show you why that hate completely misses her arc in the movie and her true intentions/relationship with Miles. This post will also delve into Gwiles/Ghostflower since that is a big part of what shapes her intentions. Many people say Gwen betrayed Miles and doesnât really care about him. They say Miles shouldnât forgive her and that she is a snake for what she did. Iâll show you why the opposite is true by going through the events of the movie in cronological order: The movie literally starts off with Gwen talking about Miles. She is drumming away, which is, mentioned by herself, a way for her to cope with her feelings. That opening from Gwen is a small glimpse into her head. We see how she feels and what she thinks. The interesting thing is that itâs basically Gwen broadly narrating the events of the entire movie. We even see glimpses of future scenes in that intro. The line of narration that is most important here is Gwen saying âI didnât want to hurt him. But I did. And he is not the only one.â This shows us IMMEDIATELY that Gwen did not intend to hurt Miles AT ALL. Quite the contrary. It also shows that she is AWARE she hurt Miles. She knows she fucked up. That is going to be important later on when she needs to make the tough decision regarding Miles/The Spider Society.Â
We then follow her as she goes home, still thinking about Miles and then, of course, her Peter. Note that this is roughly 1 year after Into the Spider-Verse. 1 year after she met Miles she still thinks about him daily. âI havenât really made any friends after that [Peterâs death], except one. But there is no way to get there.â She misses Miles and wishes there was a way to visit him. Obviously she still very much cares and thinks about him.
At Gwenâs home we are first shown what her conflict with her father looks like. That conflict is obviously one of the main aspects of her arc and what drives her actions later on in the movie. You can see it is strained but you can still see that they obviously love each other very much. Gwen struggles as her father is basically hunting her down without knowing its is actually her. What pains her the most, though, is that her father is convinced that Spider-Gwen killed her best friend, Peter Parker. That way he, without knowing, makes Gwen feel guilty about the death of her best friend. Gwen is trying to get over Peterâs death but is held back by her dad, unbeknownst to him.Â
Gwen caring and missing Miles a lot is brought up again when she sees the picture of her and Miles that they made in Into the Spider-Verse (which she had made into a polaroid so she can actually have it on her/in her hands). Her eyes look on with sadness and her color is dark blue. The colors in Gwenâs dimension are used to portray her feelings. Dark/blue tones for sadness and light/pink tones for happiness/comfort. At this point, seeing Miles again is probably one of her dearest wishes. Miles understands her and knows who she truly is. This is going to be important later on.
During Gwens fight with Vulture at the Museum we are introduced to Miguel Oâhera, Spider-Man 2099, who saves her from Vulture. He introduces himself but Gwen seems unimpressed and uninterested. What she is very much interested in, though, is Miguelâs Dimension Watch. âYou can go to any dimension you want with that watch?â She just met an entirely new Spider-Man and all she is interested in is his technology that might allow her to go and visit Miles. That is how much she misses him.
As the duo fight off Vulture Miguel calls for back-up and they are joined by Spider-Woman Jessica Drew. Her and Gwen have an immediate bond which will be very important later on. Gwen immediately looks up to her and sees her as a mentor from who she can learn a lot. Gwen impresses Jessica so much that she asks Miguel if they want to recruit her for Miguelâs Spider-Society. âWhat about her?â âNo.â âWhy not?â âYou know why.â Miguel and Jessica studied the entire Kingpin collider event. They know who was involved and they know that Gwen and Miles are friends. Miguel doesnât want to recruit Gwen because she is too close to Miles. Why that is a problem we all know. (Miles being the original anomoly) From the start they knew Gwenâs relationship with Miles might end up jeopardizing their goal of protecting the Spider-Verse.
We then go on to this scene. Gwen confronting her father and her father finding out that Spider-Woman, the vigilante he was dedicated to catching and locking up, is actually his daughter. This is a key moment in Gwenâs arc throughout the movie. Her father accuses her of lying to him. All Gwen wants right now is support from her father. She doesnât get that, instead her father wants to lock her up for the murder of her Peter Parker. At this point she is immensely conflicted. âI donât know how to fix this.â Jessica Drew notices that and convinces Miguel to let Gwen join the Spider-Society.Â
Gwen seeing no immediate solution to her problem decides to accept the invite. She is not yet ready to confront the problem and walks away from it, despite being conflicted. This will be at the back of her head throughout her entire arc and throughout the entire movie. Until she is ready to confront her dad who, remember, wants to lock her up, she CANâT return to her home dimension. Her going back would mean her having to confront a problem she is not yet ready to confront.Â
The next time we see Gwen is after we are introduced to Miles again. This is Gwen seeing Miles again for the first time after 1 year and 4 months. Her immediate reaction is to tightly hug him. You can, in that hug alone, see how much she missed him. You can also pick up all kind of little things in this scene. One is how awkward Gwen is. She is cringing at herself for telling him he had a growth spurt. There are obviously some unresolved feelings between the two.
Gwen then goes through his sketchbook and finds Milesâ drawings of her. She is surprised to see so many drawings of her but plays it off smoothly. âMissed you too.â Itâs obvious that both missed each other immensely. But we havenât even seen the entire extend of how MUCH Gwen ACTUALLY missed Miles. We only find out about that a bit later.
Miles and Gwen then swing through the city and catch up. Their chemistry is on full display here. I absolutely adore this scene. Gwen tells Miles that the Spider-Society is really strict about where she goes otherwise she would have come to visit him sooner. Whatâs important here is that at this point Gwen KNOWS about Milesâ âconditionâ. She knows he is an anomoly and she knows that his father dying is a canon event. And at this time she BELIEVES in these canon events. She thinks they must be upheld or the multiverse collapses. Thatâs what Miguel told her.Â
During their swing Gwen uses a moment in which Miles is distracted to place her surveillance device for Spot. You can see, even with her mask, how much it pains her to keep the truth from Miles nd having to leave him in the dark. We find out: Gwen is not here because of Miles but because she is supposed to catch Spot since Spot is an anomoly.Â
What follows is one of the biggest Gwiles moments in the movie and also a very important scene when it comes to Gwen and her feelings towards Miles. They sit down at the Williamsburgh Bank Building and have a heart to heart.Â
Gwen tells Miles that it is always so great to talk to him and that he is the only friend she ever really made since Peter died. Miles, knowing about Hobie, says âOther than Hobie, right?â and Gwen answers âThatâs different.â This shows us that Gwenâs relationship and feelings for Miles are different from the relationship she has with Hobie. Thatâs because she literally has feelings for Miles, and she knows that Miles, in some way at least, feels the same. âWeâre the same, in the important ways.â Gwen then says a line that literally shows she has fallen for Miles, otherwise there would be no need for her to mention it. âIn every other universe Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man.â This is Gwen telling Miles that she has feelings for him.Â
Hearing that reassures Miles and he moves his hand closer to hers.Â
This is important: Gwen sees this!Â
And then closes her eyes and flinches. She flinches because she wants to take his hand so bad that it literally pains her that she canât. We find out why she canât with her next words:Â âAnd in every other universe it doesnât end well.â Gwen knows about canon events and knows they need to happen. She was probably being told that Gwen Stacy falling for Spider-Man and it not ending will is a canon event.Â
She then gives Miles a look that I can only describe as âlovingâ. She would probably love to tell him more about canon events and everything regarding the Spider-Society. But like she said: She doesnât know how to. She doesnât want to hurt him and she wants to protect him.
Miles then tells her âThereâs a first time for everything, right?â which makes Gwen chuckle and smile at him. Itâs the first time where Gwen is confronted with Milesâ philosophy of going down his own patch and not bending to the rules of canon. Even if canon dictates something, Miles believes there is always a way.Â
This rubs off on Gwen as she affectionately leans on Miles, enjoying the sunset with him. Not only is this overall scene incredibly beautiful and masterfully animated but its purpose is to show us that these two indeed love each other. They want to be together but Gwen, at this stage, feels like canon is against them.
Miles and Gwen then enjoy some food in quiet and keep talking about the Spider-Society and how Miles wants to be a part of it. Gwen, without being able to tell him the truth, shuts him down and lies to him. Again, she is not ready to tell him everything, the same way she is not ready to confront her father. These 2 conflicts go hand in hand as they are her 2 biggest conflicts that she has to overcome. Gwen then snaps at Miles because he was about to find the surveillance footage of Spot which would therefore uncover her true reason for being there. Gwen obviously doesnât want that to happen because she doesnât want to hurt Miles. She wants to keep him away from the Spider-Society because she knows he is an anomoly AND because she knows he wouldnât be safe there.
After she snaps at him she immediately apologizes though. They both get REALLY close after that, closer than I had remembered from my first viewing. They also lock eyes. Iâm pretty sure if not for Rio, Miles and Gwen would have kissed here. Rio interrupts them and they have an awkward talk. Rio and Jeff obviously think there is something going on between Miles and Gwen which is the source of the awkwardness.Â
Gwen then gets a signal from her dimension watch which is caused by the explosion that Spot caused. She missed her time window to catch him because she was having so much fun being around Miles. Gwen quickly leaves after that, having to lie to both Miles and his parents.Â
You can tell she doesnât want to leave Miles. She wants to stay, but she canât. She is conflicted. And she is conflicted throughout the entire movie. That makes her arc so interesting.Â
What follows is one of the most important interactions in the movie that show Gwenâs motives. She arrives at the explosion and realizes Spot escaped. Jessica Drew, who Gwen looks up to, remember, calls her and asks her where Spot is. Gwen tries to play the whole situation down, not wanting to be seen as a failure. That has one big reason: Since Gwen is a liability to the Spider-Society because of her connection to Miles she has to constantly prove her worth, otherwise Miguel will send her back to her universe. That is one of Gwens biggest fears. Having to confront her father again. She is not yet ready for that so she basically does everything that is asked of her, even if she doesnât necessarily agree with it. Jessica notices that Gwen is nervous and asks her if she visited Miles. Gwen again tries to play it down but eventually admits she went to see Miles. Jessica gets angry with her and Gwen tells her she will never see Miles again. Her voice noticeably breaks when she says that. That interaction tells us one very important point: Gwen was not allowed to visit Miles. AT ALL. Miguel has forbidden Gwen to see Miles. He probably also told her why. Miles is an anomoly and him getting entangled with the Spider-Society might end up badly. And Gwen, knowing all that, knowing she might risk the multiverse, knowing she might risk getting sent back to her own dimension and having to confront her father, STILL decided to visit Miles. That is how much she cares about Miles. She literally risked the stabilty of the multiverse for the opportunity to see Miles again. Even if its only for one evening. This alone should end the debate about how Gwen âdoesnât care about Milesâ. She obviously does. A lot.Â
This can be taken even further. âYou never made a mistake? Never got too close to someone?â This is literally Gwen telling Jessica that the reason she went to see Miles is because she has feelings for him. Jess replies by saying she did but that she got over it, prompting Gwen to do the same. We, of course, know that she canât.Â
This is one of the most emotional scenes in the movie for me. After Gwens dialogue with Jess she knows her only chance to stay on Miguels good side is to follow Spot to Mumbattan and catch him. She has to leave and knows she will never see Miles again. She longingly looks towards the rooftop she and Miles stood on just moments ago, not knowing Miles is invisible and right in front of her. She whispers a last âGoodbye Milesâ as she heartbreakingly decides to leave. As much as it pains Gwen, she thinks leaving now without explaining anything to Miles might hurt him, but it does keep him safe and away from the Spider-Society. Itâs a lose lose situation for Gwen. She is fighting a losing battle. On one side she has Miles and the desire to be with him, on the other side the entire Spider-Verse and the conflict with her father. The fact she is even contemplating shows how loyal she is towards Miles.
Miles follows her through the portal and catches her off guard. Gwen didnât know he was listening and thought she would never see him again. Miles, being in another universe without a dimension watch, glitches and endangers both him and Gwen. Gwen then says that she ânever should have visitedâ Miles. She obviously meant the fact that NOW Miles is involved and they canât go back now. She didnât want Miles to be a part of it and now regrets that she pulled him into this. She is more angry at herself than at Miles here.Â
When the canon event approaches Gwen tries to stop Miles from disrupting it. Again, a lose lose situation for Gwen. She knows (or at least thinks at this point) that disrupting canon events can cause universe to unravel. She also knows how dangerous canon events are and that there is a good chance Miles might die if he tries to intervene.Â
Miles, not knowing about canon events at all yet, intervenes anyway. (Because he is Spider-Man, duh) While trying to save Captain Singh and the little girl he gets covered by rubble. Gwen and Hobie go down to the scene and while Hobie immediately helps Pav to pull up the bus Gwen literally makes a dash for the rubble and tries to find Miles. All the while screaming his name, her voice breaking while doing so. The relief in her voice when she finds him alive and well is very noticeable. (Great voice acting by Hailee Steinfeld)
After disrupting the canon event, Miles asks Gwen what she thinks of the situation. Gwen, almost affectionately whispering to him, tells him that she always thinks that he is amazing. Another moment that makes these two get closer and it shows how much admiration Gwen has for Miles. Even after disrupting a canon event, Gwen thinks the world of Miles. This highlights her conflict again. While still believing in these canon events, Miles is slowly but surely changing her mind about them. He is not quite there yet but itâs coming.
We then go the Spider-Society HQ where Gwen introduces Miles to Miguel. Miguel immediately becomes hostile and blames Miles for disrupting the canon event. Gwen knows that Miles did in fact disrupt the canon event but still defends him. âHe doesnât know any better:â Miles has no knowledge about canon events or anything related to it so he canât be blamed for what he did. Gwen knows that, which is also a reason why she tried to stop him.Â
Miles then finds out about the structure of the Spider-Verse and about canon events. Miles also finds out that Gwen did not only try to save him but also stop him from disrupting the canon event.Â
When Miles finds out his fathers death is a canon event that has to occur you can see Gwen frowning. She knew this and now Miles knows it. There is no easy way to tell that to someone. Not if youâre close friends and not if you havenât seen each other for a year. It pains Gwen that Miles has to go through that, and on top of that she can relate to it as well, because...
... Gwenâs father is also a Captain whoâs death is a canon event. This adds another layer to her inner conflict. She believes in these canon events and therefore also believes that her father has to die. Gwen, in that aspect, is similar to Miguel. She accepts it, runs away from it. Similar to how she runs away from the conflict with her father.Â
Miles confronts the other Spiderâs and tells them he canât sit back and let his father die. He then tells Gwen, referencing her earlier statement, that she was right and that she never should have visited her. Miles does NOT say that because he hates Gwen. He says that because he is distraught and because of the fact that if Gwen hadnât shown up heâd still be in his dimension. (Where he wants to be to protect his father) Gwen starts to cry because this is OBVIOUSLY not how she wanted it to go and how she wanted Miles to find out. The fact is: There was never a right time or way to explain it to Miles. Gwen isnât an emotionless puppet that never struggles or is perfect. She loves Miles and she simply couldnât bring it over her heart to tell him that his father will die and that he isnât supposed to be Spider-Man. She wants him to be happy and to be safe, and from her perspective the best way to do that is to keep him away from the Spider-Society.Â
When Miguel traps Miles to stop him from going home Gwen and Peter get really agitated. âThatâs enough.â âStop it Miguel.â They donât want to be on opposite sides to Miles. They want to talk it out. Of course the chance for that is now gone. You can still see that both still very much are on âMilesâ sideâ. Gwen is put into a situation where she is forced to choose between her friend or the Spider-Society.Â
While they chase Miles, Jess confronts Gwen and tells her that even though Miles is Gwenâs friend, capturing him is the only way. Gwen then tells Jess that thatâs not what her gut says. This, again, shows her conflict. She KNOWS she is supposed to be on Milesâ side. Itâs what her gut is saying. Itâs what her heart is saying. Her head is still thinking that the multiverse must be protected, and that canon events must be stopped from being disrupted.
She then listens to her head and tries to grab Miles with her web. The look on her face says it all. Itâs pain, love and an apology all in one. Miles destroys the web, symbolic for their trust. Miles breaks the net, he is saying that he doesnât trust Gwen anymore. Gwen knows that, which is why after Miles breaks the net her look is one of complete sadness and disbelief. Not disbelief because she couldnât imagine Miles not trusting her but rather diesbelief because she canât believe it has come this far.
She continues the chase for Miles because she doesnât know what else to do. When Miguel calls for every Spider-Man after they found out Milesâ location you can see Gwen having a look of dread and defeat on her face. She didât want it to go this far. She still wants to talk it out and make up with him. She feels sorry and is slowly starting to regret her choices.Â
While on the train Gwen and Peter keep calling out to Miguel, telling him that he should stop and to take it easy on Miles. Miguel doesnât listen.
This scene is where the trust between Miles and Gwen is broken completely. Miles finds out that Gwen knew all along that he is an anomoly and that his father is supposed to die. He finds out that Gwen didnât know how to tell him that and that thatâs one of the reasons she didnât come to visit him.Â
Gwen then tells Miles that its for his own good, a lie she told herself to make her feel better. She full on regrets her choices by now. She knows she made a mistake but feels too distraught to really do anything about it. Her world slowly comes crashing down on her.
Miles is able to overpower Miguel and sends him flying down the train. The way Gwen looks down at Miguel is really interesting. Its a look of pride and relief. She is proud of how far Miles has come that he is able to escape from Miguel and reliefed that he was actually able to.
While Gwen thinks that now the way is free for her and Peter to get to Miles and explain everything to him, Miles just gives them a look of hurt, sadness and betrayal. He then says âGoodbye Gwenâ, again mirroring Gwenâs goodbye earlier in the movie. Both were sad but for very different reasons.
The change of expression from Gwen says it all. This goodbye from Miles, in his eyes, is final. He feels betrayed and hurt and just wants to get home to save his dad. While Gwen and Peter probably want to just talk to Miles and explain everything, Miles may think they want to capture him, too. And Miles canât take that chance.
After Miles decides to jump Gwen, again, has an expression of relief on her face. This time the relief is because Miles managed to really escape Miguel and the other Spiders. She knows Miles will be safe, for now.
Miles manages to escape and Gwen is furious with Miguel. Furious as to how he treated Miles and how he managed the whole ordeal.Â
She speaks up and Miguel blames Gwen for the Spider-Society losing Miles. This is where Gwen starts to see that she actually doesnât have the Spider-Societies back and that she should have taken Milesâ side from the beginning. She slowly realizes the true extent of her mistake.Â
Gwen then proposes to talk it out with Miles, on her own. Miguel refuses, saying they tried that already.
She goes on to tell that Miles is her friend and is starting to question the whole âCanon eventâ topic. âDo you know for certain what happens when he breaks the Canon?â She is starting to fully side with Miles.Â
Miguel tells her he knew from the beginning that her relationship with Miles was a liability. Gwen looks to Jess for support but doesnât get it. She is now on her own, same as Miles.Â
Gwen gets sent to her home universe, the thing she dreaded most. The last thing she tells Miguel is that they are supposed to be the good guys. That shows where she stands in regards to the conflict inside herself. She now knows that what Miguel and the Society does is wrong. She was on the Societyâs side, now she is on Milesâ side.Â
She immediately tries to go to Milesâ dimension but she is locked out from using the dimension watch. Miguel denied her access. Gwen is furious and now trapped in her home dimension.Â
She returns home and wants to collect the polaroid of her and Miles. She doesnât want to confront her father yet, but we all knew it was inevitably coming.
Gwen confronts her dad and opens up to him. She pours her heart out and tells him how she really feels. Remember, Gwen is a 16 year old girl. She carried the burden of her rensponsibility and the conflict inside her while still always trying to do the right thing. But she says it best in this scene, âShe doesnât know what right or wrong is anymore.â The entire time she believed these canon events to be absolute and followed through with the Spider-Societyâs plans because she thought it was the right thing to do. In the process she hurt and betrayed the only real friend she had. And that was the straw that broke the camels back. Her intentions are now clear.
âI canât lose one more friend.â She doesnât know whats right or whats wrong, all she knows is that she canât lose Miles.Â
During her speech her father decides to quit his job as captain, freeing him from the canon event. This is when Gewn realizes that canon events might not be absolute and that they can be disrupted without dooming the dimension. She realizes Miles might have been doing the right thing all along.Â
After making up with her dad the only thing left to do for Gwen is to go and find Miles. With the help of Hobieâs watch that is actually possible now.
Gwen arrives in Milesâ universe and finds out that Miles is in the wrong universe. She overhears Rio and Jeff talk about Miles. They mention Miles lighting up when he is around Gwen and that they hope she doesnât get him hurt. This is where the full realization of her actions become clear to Gwen. She hurt Miles and didnât help him when he needed her the most, and she hates herself for that.
She blames herself for what happened to Miles, even though it is not her fault entirely.Â
Gwen tells Rio and Jeff that she is going to find Miles and bring him back. She also tells them what she learned from Miles. âAll is possible.â This is the lesson Miles gives Gwen in this movie. It is a lesson she needed to learn. She now fully believes that anything is possible. This will come into play in Beyond the Spider-Verse when they are going to try and stop canon events from happening.Â
She resolves the conflict with her father, parts ways with the Spider-Society and has only one goal left now: To find and make up with Miles. In her arc Gwen faced the conflict of choosing her friend or the greater good. On one hand is Miles, who she obviously has feelings for. On the other hand there is the Spider-Society who tell her how the multiverse works and how dangerous Miles and other anomolies are. In the end, her friend won, though it was a harsh process that damaged their trust and relationship. Gwen is not perfect and isnât always right. She is a 16 year old girl with tons of complex conflicts going on. She fights a constant battle with herself and her feelings. She makes mistakes, as do Miles, Peter, Miguel and the others. The important thing is that Gwen learns from these mistakes. This also shows that she doesnât hate or not care about Miles like some people have said. If anything her actions show to which lengths she went for Miles to be safe. She knows she hurt Miles and is going to make up for it in Beyond the Spider-Verse.Â

(These are my ACTUAL notes from my friends birthday party full of people who absolutely did not know who the fuck Itachi and Kisame were or how pairing names work or what a ship is.)
Writing kisaita (on and off) for 15 years
Never get tired of the ship
Excellent, friendly people in the fandom to keep making content (Cynni)
Presentation is less about the specific ship and more about the general qualities that make their ship S-tier. You may find this echoed in your own OTP, IDK.
Powerful, badass characters who can kick anyones asses no problem, as depicted where they are casually taking a stroll after Kisame (who still has his little fo-hawk) casually takes down the four-tails
Kisame is noted as the âtail-less jinchuurikiâ
Itachi is clearly a fucking powerhouse, we donât need to debate that
Working with strong characters means you are more easily able to portray their weakness and explore that side of them since that rarely gets screentime
Auxiliary, not main characters
Main characters are harder to write because they spend a lot of screen time accomplishing their goal and doing Plot
Auxiliary characters are more malleable, and morally gray ones especially so
Depicted here are Itachi and Kisame, separately, being ordered by their villages to kill their own people. They carry this order out, but do not particularly like it. Nor are they particularly loyal to their own villages, despite carrying this order out. Itâs hard to say where their loyalities lie.
The answer is WITH EACH OTHER OBVIOUSLY
Any ship that has a timeskip has LOADS of canon-verse material you can work with, especially if it feels like the characters have changed or their dynamic has changed.
For Naruto especially, WTF are Kisame and Itachi doing for three years? Clearly neither of them are out capturing jinchuriki. They arenât seen lounging around Amegakure or Akatsuki headquarters. They are just traveling the world. Probably doing hits. Probably hitting on EACH OTHER WOOOOOO
Long time skips mean a few thing: 1) Canon divergence, 2) Canon compliant, 3) pre-time skip, 4) during time skip, 5) post time-skip; and thatâs not even the AUâs
They clearly havenât made any other friends during this time either so lots of relationship to explore
The Naruto franchise is notorious for retconning. Probably because Kishimoto (the writer) was pushed to create at a pace that was impossible for any sane or healthy man to keep up with.
Fanficition writers can take advantage of this poor writing by interpreting the character in a lot more ways than if the character was solidly written.
There are a lot of different ways Kisame is written, and accepted as so
Itachi less so but we donât have time for that
Retconning allows you to take a writers mistake and turn it into utter brainrot that ten other people (me) will reblog every 3 years
This one is kind of specific, but if you like angst then OH BOY this ship has a lot of potential for it
Any OTP that involves an angsty edgelord and a sadistic tagalong can indulge in either EXTRA ANGST and be able to balance out the angst with humor
The KisaIta ship has 4 great themes about it:
Redemption
Acceptance
Forgiveness
And Existentialism of course
Dynamic:
Sharkboy / lava girl
Edgelord / goof
Leader / follower
Maybe old? / a touch too young
Respect for each other
S-tier OTP because of strong themes and repeatable dynamics
Kinkfest here we come
S-tier OTPs must be able to withstand an intense variety of smut writing
Powerful level = able to handle pain and dish out pain
Body things? = more positions
The Shape of Water was one of the single best thing to happen to the KisaIta 18+ fics because (even though it existed before the movie came out) a lot more readers were into it now
Also, Kisame makes this ship work more than Itachi. He is fucking DEVOTED
at this point I was running out of my 10-minutes (THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO PUT ME ON A TIMER) so i just backfilled the rest of the presentation with fanart and memes i like
Why do I like KisaIta?
I mostly write smut
Theyâre great at smut
I also like angst
Theyâre always great for angst, either character
Also look at them they are hot AF
Beefcake service-top vs. âshaped like a katanaâ masochist
Healthy dose of hurt-comfort
Theyâre extremely flexible to write and so thereâs a lot of stories you can create
thank you for not reporting me to the powerpoint police
#naruto#uchiha itachi#hoshigaki kisame#kisaita#itachi#kisame#naruto meme#despite the fact i've only been writing kisakonan for the past four years#i still have loads of old kisaita and unpublished kisaita sitting in the bank#RIP my old FFN account

What fans say:
The Lorax:
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse:
It had a very big impact on meme culture. And a really catchy soundtrack. Plus it has the silly sexy green man. What more could you want from a film.*
The Once-ler and the let it die song. This movie is glorious.
It is legit the mother of all great animated movies nowadays. From Mitchells vs the machines to the new mutant mayhem movie! The plot is so good and you can really see character development from almost all of the characters, plus the designs are BANGER.
THE MUSIC?? TOP FUCKING TIER. THE CASUAL DIVERSITY? IT ALSO HAS LITERALLY THE BEST SHOT IN CINEMATIC HISTORY (Miles rising after taking his leap of faith)
BRO THE ANIMATION IS SO SICK. The amount of sheer effort put into this movie is insane. The character growth was so amazing to watch and such a great movie to analyze. Best scenes are obviously the leap of faith. Actually gorgeous. And also the scene where aunt May sees Peter b after her Peter died. Her âyou look tired, Peterâ is just so heartfelt
Where the hell do I even start. The visuals are incredible and the plot is engaging. Every scene is perfect.
This film has EVERYTHING. Humor, action, inspirational scenes, kickass music, absolutely killer animation, an art style that is an homage to comic books, loveable characters, a talking pig, DR OLIVIA OCTAVIUS, I could go on
This is the best superhero movie ever made, the leap of faith is one of the best movie scenes of ever
The animation style is better than all the others, and makes the movie funnier too! The representation is also good, and the romantic storyline isn't too prevalent in the movie. Probably the best animation Marvel has made. My favorite scene is when the villains show up to Aunt May's house -- its my favorite fight scene!
Iâm sure this movieâs been submitted already because itâs arguably the greatest animated film of all time. I have a personal connection to it because I saw it in theaters on opening night with my late father, and we both loved it and I still do. The animation is revolutionary and itâs one of the only 3 movies that make me cry.
gsksvbsvsbsvs I love everything about it, I love the animations, the story, the soundtrack also the style of animation AAAAAA its so beautiful its art it belongs in a museum i get goosebumps everytime I rewatch it
Itâs just so good. All the characters are amazing and I love Miles dad. Itâs hilarious and sparked my love for spider-man. Itâs such a sweet movie about finding yourslef and has such a powerful message. I totally recommend it so Iâm not adding spoilers, but like. Ohhhh, itâs so good.
Interesting villains, well-developed character arcs, a fresh take on Spider-Man, unique use of animation, funny, good use of multiverse that adds to the nature of the story being told, complicated character dynamics
It's the best animated movie because A: it takes one of the most well known comic characters of all time, kills him off in the first few minutes, and then shows you every cooler version of him. B: Has a large amount of representation in its main cast, considering that they're all versions of Spiderman, and that requires a white guy by default. C: everything in it is so well done I can't pick a favorite scene, but the most iconic is the jump off the skyscraper window.
The animation is incredible, the movie has so much story and heart, and thereâs a perfect balance between humor and seriousness. And the soundtrack slaps
This is probably the best animated film I've ever seen. The animation is definitely the highlight, the way they blend comic book art styles and 3D animation is an absolute joy to look at and is so overwhelmingly creative, every frame of this movie is gorgeous. The impact this had on the industry is undeniable, as we start to see more and more movies getting more creative with their animation styles. It's not just the animation though. All of the characters are entertaining, all of the jokes land and the story is really well done. It leaves me blown away every time I watch it.
This movie kind of changed the western animation industry from the ground up. Apart from being expertly written, funny, and heartfelt, it is also stellarly animated, with a unique visual style that takes direct inspiration from the comic books it adapts and mixes 2d- and 3d-animation in a way and to a degree that hadn't really been seen before in western mainstream. Its critical and monetary success paved the way for mainstream 3d animation to open up to new and excitingly stylised movies that were like a breath of fresh air between the generic Pixar-style animation that had been the largely unchanged norm in the industry since Toy Story circa twenty years earlier**. ITSV divides the screen like panels on a comic page, it uses dots and lines for shading and gradients, doesn't shy away from lowering framerates for stylisation, and makes liberal use of onomatopoeia, both to comedic and dramatic impact. Impact frames and SFX are often hand-drawn and stunningly colourful, and even the simple dialogue scenes astonish with an expressiveness and realism in their depiction of emotions that makes me rewatch a two-second scene of Miles laughing fifteen times in a row. My favourite scene has to be the What's Up Danger scene, the emotional climax of the movie. Set to an absolute banger of a song, it is the moment the entire film has been building up to. I won't spoil anything plot-wise in case you somehow haven't seen this movie, but both from an emotional and a visual standpoint it is Fucking Dope. Conclusion: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is my favourite movie of all time and I could talk about it for hours. If you haven't seen it, go watch it. Thank you.
Have you SEEN the Whats Up Danger/rising and falling scene? it's a work of art that makes me fall in love with storytelling all over again whenever I see it. Also the impact that it's had on animated film is absolutely being felt at current, if incrementally. Incredible film.
It has an amazing art style based on comics and mixed up due to genre differences. It's really fun and the characters are great, even the side ones. The story line is great and I love Miles and his family.
*Mod note: errr, quite a lot more than memes and music actually
**Mod note: amen

The hidden story behind these few seconds.
(Originally, this post was going to be about "Meet the Parents Part 3," But I feel that since I was focusing so much in Jeff and Rio's reaction, so I decided to make a little post about her.)
I had been looking at this and thinking about it a lot, and hearing the dialogue and reflecting about the story. This moment means A LOT.
I see a lot of videos about Spider-verse, which I imagine makes sense considering how much I love this movie.
And in videos, in tiktoks and online as well, I had seen a lot of people been confused as to why Gwen tried to talk to Miles's parents instead of dipping out.
And you know what? I think the answer is in these few seconds, and what she does after.
Let's give context at this scene.
Gwen had realized that the Spider-society is bullshit, and not just because the system is corrupt, but also that canon can be defied, which means she can also help Miles defy canon if necessary. She knows she owes him that much, and she wants to make it up to him.
So she goes to 1610, wanting to talk to him to tell him the news, probably apologize and say that she is on his side.
Except, that there is no one.
But that's not the only thing, she also listens to his parents talk about the situation.
She hears them talk about Rio trusting Miles, and being her idea to let him go (something Gwen of course didn't know.) Jeff may be angry, but you can hear that he is scared.
But funnily enough, what else he says?
Look, is Jeff over his head and thinking the worst of Gwen? Yeah, and I will talk about it on the other post.
However, let's see this from Gwen's perspective.
Because she went to see Miles, she didn't look after the Spot, which went to Pavitr's dimension, and Miles followed her, then the joke villain became extremely powerful and threatened Miles. Now Miles is in who knows where, with Miguel and Spot hunting him down and his family.
Now, do I blame Gwen? No, she couldn't have predicted this, and she is a teen that is hurting and afraid. While I think she needs to apologize to Miles, I can't be mad at her (especially when she is doing all of this to MAKE IT UP TO HIM!)
But do I think the girl who couldn't had known debris was going to fall on top of the lizard, and that would be enough to make them human (because Gwen didn't know this was a human mind you,) and still feels like she failed him; would feel this is her fault?
Oh what do you think?
And let me tell you, NONE of this is helping.
Gwen knows that Miles has a crush on her. She has seen the drawings, how he acts around her, what other people say. And now his mom, who saw them together for just a few minutes, can tell that Miles was shining around her.
That has to be a gut punch.
She knows Miles did what he did to help her, as well as because he is amazing. And she wants to be with him obviously, even if she before felt she couldn't.
And to top it all of, she is being confronted with the fact that Miles was right about his parents.
Let's remember that while Rio and Jeff assumed the worst of Gwen, she did something similar.
So she is confronted with the fact that Miles is in the right about trying to save his dad, and that his parents are probably worth telling the secret (not to mention that now she knows there was still hope with her dad), and that if she hasn't interfered, none of this would had happened.
And she says so herself.
And this, is why she is doing it.
Remember how I mentioned earlier about people tho didn't understand why Gwen did this? This is why.
She feels guilty, she feels horrible that she put Miles in this mess, and that Miles's parents are feeling this torn about this ordeal.
Sure, you could argue it may be better to not mention anything to his parents, to dip out and find a way to fix this mess before they know.
But I think she feels she owes Miles and his parents this much; she knows how much Miles loves his parents, and would probably appreciate a head-ups to them if it is necessary.
You know how I mention this was the scene where Gwen probably realized how right was Miles about his parents, and probably gained a new appreciation for them? I wonder if we would have the inverse scenario next movie.
Of Miles's parents realizing Gwen means well and adores their son, and would do the impossible and more for him.
If you like my work, please share and support me in ko-fi if you can, if not, please share this post!

My Irondad fic recs!
I thought of doing this because why not? Admittedly, I'm not reading as much fanfiction as I did a couple years ago, but some fics have changed my life entirely. In case I forgot one, I'll add it later!
I wouldâve organized this in a bullet list, but Tumblr hates me and invented a character limit for that. So this is going to be long and will be under the cut. Anyway, letâs do this!
Rare and Sweet As Cherry Wine by loubuttons â I've mentioned this one before, but this fic right here was what inspired me to write my own Irondad works. One very particular detail I like about it is how it portrays Maria, Tony's mother. It's not what I usually see in other fics about Tony's childhood, since they tend to make Howard the big bad parent. Of course, this is because I personally related to it, as I don't believe in the "bad parent vs. good parent". I also like that it praises Edwin Jarvis as the one who looked out for Tony the most. It's pretty realistic and a very melancholic character study, IMO. *TW for abuse and neglect*
You're Always Iron Man by madasthesea â a very short fic but I absolutely love the premise. Takes place after the big battle in Iron Man 2, and Tony finds little Peter again. They have a very endearing interaction. The following chapter is also very cute!
Nothing like a fresh cup of humiliation in the morning by madasthesea â Pure fluff! This one is probably a classic in the Irondad fandom. Tony kisses Peter's forehead without second thought. Shenanigans ensue. It's so adorable and funny. If you just want to read fluff without angst, this one is for you.
when my body won't hold me anymore (where will I go) by madasthesea - I think I heard about this fic thanks to @/irondadfics here on Tumblr, but I might be wrong since I already knew the Nice work, kid series. Anyway, Peter is believed to be dead, so Tony (and the rest of the Avengers team) is mourning him. In reality, Peter is astral projecting. You know, sort of like how Stephen Strange, in his first movie, was fighting a guy in the other dimension while his body on Earth was struggling to live. That's basically what happens. Strange appears, of course, and saves the day. And I pretty much LOVE the presumed dead trope. I don't know why. Maybe it's the angst of it all. *TW for grief/mourning and temporary character death*
The Reason by doctornineandthreequarters â I think I read this one when I was still writing Oh, take me back to the start. I was looking for fics for inspiration, and I found this one. During the Time Heist in Endgame, Tony remembers the reason he's fighting to bring everyone else back. It's very emotional.
Couch Cuddles by happyaspie â Classic sickfic, but with more fluff than anything. I like rereading it when I feel lonely and touch-starved, especially when I'm also sick like Peter.
Youâre So Much Like Me (Iâm Sorry) by SpaceCowboysFromMars â Irondad + Miles Morales! Peter is an adult in this, and he freaks out when an injured Miles arrives in his apartment. Tony gives him some wisdom about mentoring and parenting. I donât usually find Irondad stories featuring Miles (and not necessarily a Spider-Verse crossover), so this was a nice discovery. Peter & Miles & Tony is a very underrated trio IMO. *TW for slight gore*
I'm Glad I Have You by punkybunny â Peter has been having a rough time, dealing with loneliness as Aunt May is not home often, and with bullying at school... until he finally has the chance to spend time with Tony. However, the demons don't disappear completely. Obviously, more Hurt/Comfort, lmao. *TW for nightmare/bad dream*
I Want to Trust You by punkybunny â Actually part of a series that, admittedly, I haven't read all the other stories. But even this one is a very interesting concept on its own. This is a Hydra Peter AU, after Peter has been rescued. He gets sick but given his past in Hydra, he thinks Tony is going to get angry. Peter is proven wrong when Tony helps him get better. The ending is very adorable. I'll see if I can read the rest of the series one day. *TW for past abuse and experimentation*
what you think I've done wrong by ironxprince â I don't often read Biodad stories as you all know, but I was, again, looking for inspiration for You keep me searching for a heart of gold, and I stumbled across this one. Basically Peter, as Tony's biological son, finally meets Howard. It goes as well as you think /sarcasm. *TW for physical abuse*
i, in time, will climb my mountain by ironxprince â This one is heavy. Once again, Peter is Tony's bio son, and he's suicidal. Every time Peter attempts suicide, he buys a new plant. Tony doesn't know this, so he's confused as to why there are so many plants in their house. I love this one, but of course, I try to read it when Iâm not having a really bad day. *Once again, TW for suicide attempts*
how do you get that lonely (and nobody knows?) by parkrstark â Yeah... another heavy one. Peter attempts suicide but he saves himself before he reaches the ground. With that, he goes to Tony. This ends happily, don't worry. *TW for suicide attempt*
When You Can't Sleep by Emily_F6 â Pretty much Tony comforting a sleepy Peter, who has just had a nightmare about Thanos. Just Hurt/Comfort and domestic fluff. *TW for mention of death*
i get by (but it's eating me alive) by Livinei â Honestly, I think this is the BEST May's Abusive Boyfriend story I've ever read. For one, none of the characters are oblivious nor dismissive of Peter's feelings. May isn't neglectful and Ned actually tries to encourage Peter to tell someone. I also like that Peter isn't completely helpless. I don't usually see those things in other fics with this trope, sadly. And of course, Protective Tony is my weakness. *TW for emotional and physical abuse*
Hold Me Together by An_Odd_Idea â Post-Endgame where Tony is alive, and Peter and Tony are both trying to cope, so they rely on each other. Pure Hurt/Comfort.
A Tremendous Thing by ExpectoPatronum â Possibly one of my favorite Irondad stories EVER. Also post-Endgame with Alive Tony (though the author better explains it in the notes, it's supposed to be part of a series, but this story can be read on its own). There are a lot of references to Charlotte's Web if you're familiar with it. Basically, it's Father's Day and Peter is feeling guilty and out of place at Tony's lake house, even though everyone is readily trying to include him. It's absolutely beautiful and painful.
Hug You I Must by spiderwriting (catch_you_later) â Probably one of the first touch-starved Peter fics I've read. I like how it describes touch-starvation as this "itchy" current in your body, something that makes you anxious. Thankfully, Peter gets his hug later on. Plus there are some Star Wars references (the title probably is one, lol). *There's some minor violence here when Peter is fighting off some bad guys, but not the focus of the fic*
When You're There With No One There To Hold, I'll Be The Arms That Reach For You by Squibbles94 â Another touch-starved Peter fic. But I really like the references to Cast Away. Ironically I saw this movie in the same year the author published this fic (dare I say SHORTLY after it was posted). I also had no idea that Cast Away was entirely about isolation. Gosh, the main character's monologue at the end ALWAYS gets to me... anyway, yeah, the peak of the pandemic was awful to me, so reading fics like this one helped tons. It still does.
I am cold by N/A (orphan account) â Peter tries to visit Tony, but he gets lost in a subway tunnel on a freezing day. Eventually we learn why Peter wanted to see Tony, but overall this is mainly domestic fluff. Everything ends well.
Sorry Pedro by PinkEasterEggs â One of the first Irondad fics I read. Peter has a nightmare about Homecoming (mainly Toomes), but he avoids waking Tony for that reason. But thanks to F.R.I.D.A.Y's protocols, Peter goes to his mentor. Tony is also super soft here and it makes my heart swoon.
you are enough by diaz_evan â Another post-Endgame fic. Arguably I began reading Irondad fics only after Endgame released. Anyway, this one is short, kinda sad but it ends well. Itâs Tonyâs birthday and Peter feels very anxious about what to get him as a present. Thankfully, he doesnât need to prove his love for Tony. *TW for panic attack*
Happy Fatherâs Day, Mr. Stark by downeylove â There are a lot of Fatherâs Day fics for these two, of course, but this one takes the cake for me. Itâs simple but very endearing to me. Tony obviously doesnât have good memories of this day, but Peter changes that for the first time. Itâs really cute. Plus, Pepper is here, and I love her. I wish I could read more of her interacting with Peter. *TW for mentions of alcoholism and past child abuse*
5 Times Peter Didnât Say He Was Struggling⊠And The One Time He Did by Bladam_Shevine â Again, an old fic I read years ago. I admit I havenât re-read it in a while, but I remember enjoying it and even saving it to read offline. Itâs basically what it says in the title: Peter struggles in many ways and he initially refuses help. Tony is always there to reassure him he can count on him. Bruce is here if you like him! And MJ helps Peter on one of the chapters as well. The chapters might get heavier as they go, but it ends on a hopeful note. *TW for injury, panic attack, suicide attempt (it doesnât involve Peter), and depression*
The Good Days and the Bad by SoupGirlLovesSoup - Peter has had a bad day, now he's cuddling with Tony. It takes a while before Peter finally tells him what happened. It gets sad, but it's mostly fluff and it ends hopefully. I love re-reading it when I need the comfort. *TW for mention of suicide attempt, depression, and bullying*
Breathe Again by gwenoakley - Post-Endgame where Tony survives. He's recovering in the hospital and Peter finally reunites with him. Before that, though, we can feel the anxiety and trauma Peter feels. Definitely makes me emotional. It's the ending they deserved.
Popsicles and Playgrounds by ironfamjam - I can't believe I forgot to save this one in my bookmarks. I used to re-read this all the time! It's an AU where MIT student Tony meets a kid Peter. Eventually, Tony becomes Peter's babysitter! This is part of a series, which I still have to read fully. It's such a wholesome idea!! <3 *Howard's bad parenting is mostly mentioned*
Well, for now this is it! Again, I might add more fics here. I think I also could make a list of what particular concepts I want to read more in Irondad stories, so maybe you guys could give me your own recs. I might try to resume my habit of reading Irondad fics, because they give me a lot of comfort. Thanks for reading this far! I hope you enjoy any of the stories I included.
(I'm aware some authors here have their accounts on Tumblr, but I didn't want to annoy anyone by tagging them, so yeah đ
)
EDIT (June 4th, 2024): What Irondad fics I would like to read!

We already know the ending of What We Do In The Shadows the show. The movie told us.
Spoilers from both the movie (2014) and the show (2024)
I think itâs obvious when Taika and Jemaine set out to make an American version of their vampire comedy, they weaved a lot of the same storylines into the show. We have vampire roommates, werewolves (not swearwolves) , familiars, an ancient vampire, vampire hypnosis, and a camera crew.
All the same ideas exist from movie to show, just presented differently.
Guillermo, the familiar turned vampire hunter turned bodyguard turned vampire turned back to human, is a combination of the movieâs familiar and vampire Hunter roles. I believe heâs also the love interest, Katherine.
I think the show, while becoming itâs own thing entirely, has a deep connection to the movie. I think theyâve been trying to follow viagoâs love interest storyline since the show switched hands from Taika and Jemaine to Paul Simms.
While probably not known to most, Paul was instrumental in bringing the show over to the States, having helped to fund it.
He was already in the world of Shadows, and while I havenât agreed on the way heâs said things and some direction the show had taken (season 4 had some growing pains), I do believe heâs understood the heart of the show.
Which is why I think they took such a dramatic shift in season 4 to tell and show the audience that Nandor doesnât want to just date, but to really have a life or afterlife partner. That season had two âcoming outsâ. Guillermo obviously coming out as gay, and Nandor coming out as pansexual before he was turned.
I think this distinction was really important to build their romantic dynamic. They wanted to show Nandorâs interest in Guillermo wasnât attributed to just horny vampireness, but actual true love and affection for him.
And having Guillermo formally come out as gay was more than just the Freddie gag (or the purpose of Guillermo having a boyfriend so that Nandor sleeps with him causing Guillermo to get upset about it which encourages Guillermo to take vampire turning into his own hands, leading to the events in season 5), but to show the audience that Guillermoâs not just a hero worshipper of his boss. He could very well have a crush that could become something more.
And while Simmsâ execution of Nandermo so far has not been executed perfectly, (mostly because I think his version of Shadows uses jokes to cover or masque serious moments whereas Jemaineâs comedy often highlights and exposes the truth about life in funny situations), I think Paulâs vision is headed in the right direction.
I donât think itâs a coincidence that Guillermo has a far larger familiar role than the one in the movie. Storytelling wise, itâs expected that Guillermoâs ending will solve the lingering vampire question that was halfway resolved in season 5. Because the show is telling the audience, âWait. Thereâs more.â Thereâs more change to be had. I also donât think itâs a coincidence that a part of Nandorâs arc is finding love. And part of his ending will have to be resolving this, as well.
And funny enough, Viagoâs ending resolves both of these issues. He finds love with Katherine again and turns her into a vampire, but she got to have a full life first. Thereâs comedy there (heâs still older than her even though they donât look it) but also thereâs heart. She got to have a full life and agency of her own instead of being robbed of it.
I think Paul wants to set up this ending because itâs funny but also, to highlight his appreciation to the original. We expected from the jump that Nandor would turn Guillermo eventually and we canât just have that without growth and change and conflict in between. Itâs nice to get everything we want, but thatâs not what sitcoms do. Sitcoms subvert expectations, and Paul is highly versed in sitcom structure. (Something that I think even Jemaine and Taika had to learn. )
Paul Simmsâ isnât just a writer in the room, he is a writer familiar (haha insert lame reference joke here) with the source material in a sitcom format. The movie wasnât a sitcom. They could resolve Viagoâs relationship because movies resolve arcs at the end of the movie.
Sitcoms donât resolve anything at the end of an episode or even the end of a season. They resolve them at the end of the show. He knows Nandermo would end the show, because when characters get what they want (whatever their aspirations are) it completes the narrative. In sitcoms, the characters wants drive the purpose of the show.
And all good sitcoms donât immediately give you (the audience) what you want until the end. And yes it can be frustrating, but when done right, the payoff is worth it. When the arcs are finished, the story ends. Even in sitcoms and comedy shows. So, Guillermo and Nandor being together and Nandor even eventually turning Guillermo, would have to be arc finishers. That would end the show. Which is why I think s6 is ending here, because the lead (Nandor) finished his arc.
Now whether that means Nandor will turn Guillermo on screen or not is yet to be seen. Maybe at some point down the road when Guillermoâs family is much older or have moved on from this earth and maybe when there is a new way to be a vampire without blood, Guillermo will be ready.

Headcanons if Avatar!Grace lived and raised Kiri alongside the Sullys and adopted Spider:
"Jake Sully, I know damn well that you didn't just ground your son for recklessness! 'You wanna hear about reckless? How about the time you taunted a baby hammerhead titanothere and its mother before being chased into the jungle by a Thanator like the asshat you are."
Spider is depressed because Neytiri has yet to warm up to him. Grace gathers him up like he's still a baby and since she's a Na'vi and he's a human, it's so easy to do: "Give her some time, kiddo. Neytiri has lost more than most to the Sky People. In the meantime, go find your sister. I think she's been wanting to show you her newest verse in her songcord."
"Neteyam, sometimes you gotta just ignore your father. He's a jarhead. No. I'm not telling you what that means."
Kiri when she's vocal about her insecurities and how she feels different from everyone else. Grace silently listens before saying: "You hear Eywa? Normally, I would call you crazy from a scientist's perspective... but after what Eywa has done for me... After she saved all that I am in this body while the human one died, and after she gave me you, I don't think it sounds as crazy anymore. You're a miracle, baby. My sweet little miracle. You and your brother are so special, and any moron who says otherwise must have a death wish."
Ever watch Once Upon a Time? Remember this scene between Regina and Emma? —ïž
Quaritch: He's my son-!
Grace: HE'S NOT, HE'S MINE!
"Jake, Lo'ak came to me traumatized because he walked in on you and Neytiri."
Jake: It was an accident. But at the same time, he can't just walk in without announcing himself.
"No? Huh. That's funny. Hey, I think Norm should go talk to your son about the time you wheeled in on him and Trudy--"
Speaking of Norm, Grace has a hard time being able to fit herself in their portable biolab due to the size so Norm and Max build a large greenhouse and lab meant for Grace's new height difference. They can't change the fact that the microscopes are still too small for her hands, however.
"If my hands weren't capable of crushing the damn thing I would've done it myself instead of letting you idiots tamper the samples with your saliva AGAIN."
She still teaches all the village kids how to speak English among other human customs. A new school is built in the mountains and Tuk is her best student, obviously.
Grace vocally admits she prefers Jake in a wheelchair because he was easier to push around. To which Jake responds: "Woman, you know damn well you still push me around."
Here's some more angst: Kiri and Spider are arguing and I believe this scene comes from the live action Mowgli movie:
Kiri: You're my best friend, Spider. I understand what it's like for no one to want you. I don't have any friends neither. But we have each other and we're like the same--
Spider: We're not the same.
Kiri: We are. Because- you're special, and I'm special--
Spider: WE'RE NOT SPECIAL! Don't you get it?! We'll never be one of them! We're freaks! You're not special, Kiri! It's just something Mom tells you to make you feel better about yourself BECAUSE YOU CAME OUT WRONG!
(Side note: Wow. I just made myself cry.)
Grace would be beside herself. She's trying to comfort Kiri after the fight and trying to figure out what to do with Spider. She knows she should ground him, but at the same time, she knows where he's coming from and why he finally snapped. With Quaritch hunting them and likely trying to take Spider back, the boy is beyond stressed on top of still trying to fit in.
Lo'ak ended up being the one who got Kiri and Spider to make up after giving each other the silent treatment for a week. Lo'ak understood them better than Grace ever could.
Grace, with Rotxo, probably: If you break my daughter's heart, then I'll break your tail.
Jake is trying to get his whole family to behave alongside the Metkayina so that they could stay there and not get kicked out. He didn't realize he'll have to make GRACE AUGUSTINE behave on top of that.
Ronal and Grace have MAD respect for each other you can't convince me otherwise.
I NEED to see Avatar!Grace riding a skimwing with the brightest smile on her face that would be so amazing.
Tsireya buddies up to her immediately, sticking to her side like glue and asking a hundred questions, usually followed by "Can I take Kiri and Spider swimming?"
Ao'nung keeps a good several feet between himself and Grace. He's suspicious and she straightens him out with one glare, ESPECIALLY after he bullied her kids around for being freaks.
Grace even got Tonowari to laugh when she came dragging his son home by the ear for talking rudely to her.
Grace is like a second mom to Neytiri when they're so far away from home.
And finally:
"I'm too old for this bullshit."
Please reblog and add your own headcanons! I need more Grace

A few thing's about the Muny's Les Mis that really stuck out to me:
Overall this is probably the first time that the interpersonal relationships really landed for me in a production of Les Mis. Intellectually I always understood that Valjean took in Cosette because he felt responsible for Fantine's suffering, but John Riddle did an excellent part in portraying Valjean's guilt. Peter Neureuther and Emily Bautista also got across Marius and Eponine's friendship really well. You felt the friendship and love between them.
The staging for At the End of the Day had Valjean up on the second level, watching the women and the foreman mob Fantine but not doing anything to intervene. In the transition to I Dreamed a Dream everyone left the stage except Valjean (still above her) and Fantine. Fantine looked up at Valjean, and he turned away and left her alone.
Valjean and Cosette both humming Castle on a Cloud while he leads her out of the woods and back to the Thenardier's inn đ„ș
Jordan Donica sang the best version of Stars I have ever heard. That's all.
Though the musical never mentions that Gavroche and Eponine are siblings, the director obviously took pains to ensure the actors knew this. Gavroche was always watching Eponine when she was on stage with him, though they didn't interact all that much.
Emily Bautista is probably one of the best Eponine's I've ever seen. She's joyful in her scenes with Marius - you get why she's in love with him - but also has a clear chip on her shoulder when interacting with her father. Her On My Own was likewise great; we love an Eponine who expresses more than just general sadness.
During A Little Fall of Rain, no one notices that Eponine's been shot at first. Marius and Eponine sing while everyone else at the barricade goes on about their business like nothing's happening. Gavroche is the one who notices that Eponine is dying, and he rushes to get Grantaire and Enjolras's attention, at which point everyone realizes what's happened. Gavroche is visibly distraught, and one of the women hugs him and covers his eyes, forcing him to look away as Eponine dies. Graintaire also comforts him, and they continue to shield Gavroche as Eponine's body is taken away.
The aftermath of A Little Fall of Rain is haunting. Even Enjolras is visibly shaken; you can see in everyone's faces that Eponine's death has brought the glory of the revolution to a halt in the face of the reality that they could all die.
During Drink With Me, when Graintaire stares to sing his verse everyone in the barricade flinches, and Enjolras and some of the others rush forward to try and stop him from continuing.
John Riddle most beautiful version of Bring Him Home I have ever heard.
In the after math of the barricade, Javert comes on stage and first sees the bodies of the men. Then the turntable turns to show the other side of the barricade, where only Gavroche's body is. Javert is visibly shaken by this; he struggles to give orders to the other soldiers afterwards. You really get the sense that this, in addition to Valjean's sparing of him earlier, is what tips him over the edge.
I saw this on Friday so I know I'm forgetting other things but this was just SUCH a lovely production. I wish I could sear it into my brain so I could remember every little piece of it always. I'll never be able to watch the movie again.

ReviveCherik2024 - Cooking
For the #ReviveCherik2024 Day11 : AU - Day26 : Cooking, based on @clockwork-stars's astonishing culinary talents !
The AU is set on a modern!Uni -verse where Erik and Charles met on a protest thanks to Raven, Charles' sister, that is in Erik's brotherhood.
Erik is fighting for mutants' rights by organising protests across the city and sometimes escalating (obviously because of the policemen, he says), and also leading riots when "It is necessary". He is not against breaking government stuff if those can be used against mutants, and have quite a group of followers (and his most trusted form the Brotherhood, which is more of the 'Hardcore rioting club' than anything hazardous) (Ps : Edie Lenhsherr is still alive!!! She also supports his son and taught him how to sew so he could make himself his Magneto suit)
Charles on the other hand can be found at peaceful protest, but he mainly persuades his scientific degree to prove to the world they are not so different and educate people. He also doubles as "TA" for younger mutant students to help them control their powers if needs arise. Charles knows about Erik's "Club" and is unconvinced by it.
~~~
~~~
Magneto was looking over his Brotherhood, quite bored if he had to say so himself. Their 'meeting' -if you could even name it that- had started what feels like hours ago -a good 15min- and they were getting nowhere.
He looked across the room and threw an exasperate glance at Mystique, who was clearly laughing at him mentally. He admittedly had been the one to insist for a weekly reunion, but he hadn't thought it would end up being so mundane and repetitive. Was it his fault if he had expected grand bravado operations, explosions, spying and all those great things we see in movies nowaday?
He could nearly hear Charles nagging about it in his mind -Probably because he had been nagged telepathically a bit too often.- "Eril we're not in a movie and I will certainly not call you 'Magneto' when you're wearing that dreadful helmet and cape. Where did you even find those??? You should focus on peaceful protest, or else humans will truly fear us!" He repressed a sigh, annoyed but quite fond of the man that had managed to somehow -and it's a miracle when we take account of all the tweed the other was wearing- steal his heart.
He was snapped out of his thought by the sudden buzzing coming out of his pocket.
Bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz
He frowned. "Who in Hell..." All of his Brotherhood were present in the room. So, no one could be calling his burner phone. And no one else had this number, except his mom, just in case of emergency (and anyway, she was more likely to call his regular phone) or....
A sense of dreed washed over him. The only other person who had this number was Charles!
As soon as the realisation was made, his phone quite literally flew out of his pocket thanks to his power and he was taking the call, speaking sharply : '- What's wrong?'
A silence answered him for a few seconds -too many already- and then he heard Charles (His Charles, thank G-d) clearig his throat :
"...Erm.... Erik? I..... I swear to God it's not my fault"
Embarassment and... Guilt(?) were laced in Charles' tone, and Eri- Magneto's face suddently morphed into a deadpanned expression, feeling all his previous worries evaporate. Because there was only one situation where Charles would speak like that. Oh L-rd.
'- What have you done?' he asked.
"I was cocking rice right? And before you ask, no I didn't add too much wa- Oh bOllOCkS"
More chatter could be heard throught the phone, and a quick glace toward his Brotherhood showed him that Mystique had too understood what her brother was up too. Unfortunately. He vagelly heard her muttered a "Is he burning the house down AGAIN???" before registering what else Charles had to say :
"WHY does it smell like burned food??? All I did was boiling water!!"
'- I told you not to cook by yourself...' was his only answer, voice as blank and emotionless as his face.
"It's literally just rice!" Charles answered cheeckily as if he wasn't burning down the house at this exact moment.
Erik had a sudden thought, imagining Charles sitting outside their shared flat burning down, with a stubborn expression that could read "I don't get it, my cooking skill are not that bad" even if the fireworkers were called on site. And then he sighed, and called off the meeting.
And yes, @clockwork-stars is this bad at cooking rice. We told them everything to know to cook better rice after that and they still can't do it- But they manage pasta so I mean they won't die of hunger any time soon don't worry

Mother and son shaped by trauma: a deeper look into Alma and Bruno's damaged relationship
Alma and Bruno's mother-son relationship seems like such a minor aspect of the movie, but when you give it some thought, despite the limited focus, it's not only a very complex relationship, but also a narratively significant one.
Obviously we don't have a lot of information on it, but let me reflect a bit on the things we do know, while trying to fill in some blanks. Long post ahead.
Back to the start - how did it go so wrong?
There's one particularly interesting detail that Jared Bush shared on a podcast some time ago. It mostly comes down to the reason Bruno's visions were usually so negative: because that's how he was taught to use his gift by his mother, who would ask him to look into the future for any possible dangers to their home.
Now, this makes perfect sense for Alma's character and gives a great insight into how her trauma affected her. It's a completely natural consequence of the tragedy she experienced - of course she would be gripped by fear and desperate to protect her home from another tragedy at all cost. And the power of foresight is seemingly the ultimate key to preventing tragedy, so of course she would rely on her child's gift for that...
...and yes, that's a great burden to put on your child's shoulders and something that clearly had troubling consequences. The particularly frustrating thing being that those consequences could have been largely prevented only if Bruno had proper understanding and emotional support.
The thing is...the understanding and support probably were there for some time. Some bonus materials suggest that Bruno was not always the black sheep of the family, but quite the opposite. He was apparently once the golden child of the family - until people began to believe his gift was actually responsible for bad future events.
Which brings me to the important question: why did it go so wrong? If Alma herself believed Bruno's gift could help prevent disaster, how and why did this belief that it's actually causing disaster came to be? Didn't she try to protect her son from his gift being horribly misunderstood?
Well, I'd like to give Alma the benefit of the doubt that she did try to protect him, at least when he was a child. But I do wonder if she simply grew exhausted by Bruno at some point, as he grew older? Exhausted by his unclear visions, which were hard to control and not that helpful after all (I think Dolores' verse in WDTAB kinda suggests it). Exhausted by Bruno's eccentric personality that was so far away from the "perfect image" she wanted for the family. And maybe that frustration led to her ultimately neglecting him emotionally and enabling the negative attitude to his gift, even if it wasn't intentional on her part.
Broken trust
Again, this is all just my interpretation and I don't want to assume the worst without any proof... however, I do think it's reasonable to believe that Alma did fail Bruno in some way.
And she might have not realized it, but I think Bruno himself very much felt she failed him. That would also explain his evident lack of trust in her. I talked in one of my previous posts how Bruno not trusting Alma with the vision about Mirabel is a big red flag that something was very wrong in the family. Ideally, he should have been able to trust his mother with the vision, but we were as far from the ideal scenario as we could be - Bruno choosing to hide the vision is a clear sign how damaged his relationship with his mother was at this point and how broken his trust in her was.
Ironically, if Bruno's decision was a result of broken trust in his mother...the same decision also broke her trust in him.
Let's look at it from her (sympathetic but misguided) perspective for a moment. Bruno's gift was something she had relied on in order to protect her family. And so many years later, no matter what the present attitude to his gift was, she still went to him in a difficult moment. So the fact that he essentially denied her that help would definitely feel like a huge betrayal - for Alma it probably looked like Bruno had betrayed the family and betrayed the miracle.
Those would be the understandable feelings of a traumatized woman who probably couldn't stand losing someone she loves yet again - believing Bruno betrayed and abandoned them because he doesn't care was likely a kind of coping mechanism to numb the grief.
Regardless of how understandable those feelings might be though, this coping mechanism was deeply unhealthy and harmful. What's more, the choice to paint Bruno as the bad guy shows horrible lack of self-awareness. And that lack of self-awareness only intensified the unhealthy environment in the family.
Because in the end, Bruno leaving the family should have been the wake-up call that the "perfect" family might have some issues to work through and something needs to change to avoid driving away anyone else. Alma might have not known Bruno's motives to leave, might have been understandably angry and hurt about him hiding the vision, but she definitely should have reflected on her own mistakes as a mother that led to Bruno making this decision.
Protecting the family and understanding the true miracle
But beyond how trauma shaped their relationship, I think there's something else at the core of the issue: their love for their family and their different understanding of what it means to protect it.
I talked about how Alma went to Bruno in a difficult moment, when she feared for the future of the miracle - and that the fact he never gave her the vision and simply ran away must have felt like a betrayal to the miracle.
In some way Bruno did betray the miracle - he betrayed the miracle in the way Alma understood the miracle at that point, as a source of magic more than anything else. And ironically, by doing so, Bruno showed that he actually understood what the miracle was truly about.
Alma was so fixated on protecting the miracle that she ended up losing sight of what was truly important and hurt the family. On the other hand, Bruno saw a threat to the miracle and yet still chose protecting his young niece's well being over anything else - one "giftless" little girl mattered more than the magic.
My point here isn't "Alma bad, Bruno good", that's a huge simplification. Both of those characters were very damaged and were going to unhealthy extremes to protect what was important to them. I'm not saying Bruno's decision to hide the vision was the "right" one or something to be glorified - I mostly think that it's a decision that should have never been made and again, the fact he felt he had to do that shows the deep rooted issues within the family.
But ultimately, he did have the right priority there - of course Mirabel's well being matters more than the magic. Every member of the family matters more than the magic. That's the whole point of the movie and the core of Alma's character arc - realizing that the family itself is the greatest gift.
And one detail I particularly like is that Alma and Bruno are the two people to tell Mirabel she's the real miracle in the end - it shows their values are finally on the same page and there's finally hope for mutual understanding between them.

The bandâs all here! (WIP)
I still havenât finished their new endoskeletons yet, but I think I have their suits mostly down!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have in the inbox!
EXTRA INFO AND SCREENSHOTS UNDER THE CUT!!!
At first glance, these are obviously inspired by the traditional Chuck E. Cheese x Rockafire Explosion suits, designing them more like sports mascot costumes and having very little of the endoskeleton showing at all times (say for Foxy, of course). This was not only for more realistic world-building, but also to optimize animation, as we now have less moving parts that are actually showing, and therefore, less to render.
You might be wondering âif you wanted a more realistic approach to the suits, why not take a more realistic approach to the masks, like a more ShowBiz Pizza style?â And to that I say: everyone does that.
Okay, that isnât entirely the reason. I like the idea of basing the designs more off of the canon models than something that already exists, because I like the idea of FazEnt having their own style of making animatronics. The ShowBiz style isnât the only way to do animatronic masks, and these masks are how FazEnt would go about making them. Even when FazEnt does use the trademark ShowBiz rubber-face masks on the Junior models, they donât do it the same way that ShowBiz does it.
Something interesting I want to do with Freddy & Friends is to set narrative moments apart from the moments meant to be passed off as real footage. The designs shown above are for the latter, meanwhile the narrative will use more artistically stylized suits textured to more so resemble a comic book, sort of like Into The Spider-Verse (except instead of going for a generalized comic book feel, the Freddy & Friends style is gonna be more reminiscent of the Batman: Year One comic). The designs will be more reminiscent of how I draw them on paper, as opposed to being faithful to the canon.
Hereâs some extra info as to how I came up with the designs, as well as some extra renders and concept art!:
Original concept art from September 30, 2020.
Freddy was a little obvious to design, probably because everyone seems to design him like this when making more cartoonish versions of him. A more defined tuxedo complete with a collar and cuffs with a red stripe around his hat. It just seemed like the right direction to go in.
Bonnie was initially intended to wear a vest, though I was holding out for something else so that he could be differentiated from the evil rabbit (the evil rabbit wears a vest). I asked my friends what I could change it to, and one of them said âTry a cardiganâ. Honestly, that fits Bonnieâs personality so much better, both in terms of spirit and cartoon.
You might also notice that Bonnie was supposed to have buck teeth, as well as more squared off teeth. That was originally part of his V1 model, but when I tried applying that to the new models, literally any way I tried to arrange it made Bonnie look like so much like an insufferable asshole that I wanted to punch him in the face. Ultimately, I ended up ditching the buck teeth and just gave him his classic teeth.
Chica was a little hard to do something unique with at first. I initially wasnât really sure what I wanted to do with her, but when I modeled her V1, her little chefâs hat was a last minute addition to her design. Iâm also thinking about changing her bib into an apron, per the toon designs that Henry posted a while back.
Foxy was probably the most fun to design. Obviously, his final model has a lot of details inspired by the FNAF movie, but when I was designing him 4 years ago, I really just wanted to go crazy with his design. I wanted him to have a beard, I wanted him to have a peg leg (I really liked the idea of animating him with a limp). Unfortunately, I donât know if Iâll keep the peg leg, because it might be a little too hard for Henry to animate with the tech that he has.
As a cheeky little reference to the roots of the FNAF fandom, I wanted Foxyâs hook to resemble the hook seen on the Splinks Foxy model. ;)
Endo01 - Version 4 WIP
Iâve done a few different versions of the endoskeleton. What Iâm trying to do for this new one is to assemble him modularly, allowing me to make each component a recognizable component (theyâre also actually modeled after real components).
Iâm not gonna go into detail about the functionality of this guy, because I eventually plan to make a Freddy & Friends Instructional VHS series centered around being a mechanic for FazEnt. However, what I will say is that these designs are intended to have plausible functionality, especially using the technology of the 1980âs (which is not restricted to pneumatic technology, because making an animatronic walk with pneumatic actuators while maintaining the traditional complexity of animatronic endoskeletons is simply impossible).

you're so real about hating how gwen was written in spider-verse movies bcs i've been reading her og comics for some time now and i feel robbed. no scenes of her and hobie talking about loving to punch fascists and no gayass tention with mj but so many gwiles scenes i'm crying (tbf the comics hadn't been doing her justice either and her modern comics interpretation is actually much worse then spider-verse one imo. like why does she has og gwen's haircut. why is she so sexualised. bring my goat back)
Good morning and thank you for the ask! Sorry for the delay, I was taking a small bit of time away and also had Thanksgiving.
I know I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but Iâm gonna keep saying it; I think itâs great that the spider-verse people want to do their own unique spins on these comic book characters, but itâs really hard to keep thinking that when I am still learning about how much more dynamically they were written originally. And sure their previous iterations still exist, the spider-verse movies by no means undo that, but obviously people are going to be much more aware of and familiar with the spider-verse movies rather than the comics. Itâs just so sad to see, I really do want better for Gwen and her character, the general public deserves to know the stronger written version of her ://
