Not many people are aware of this tiny gated street in Manhattan, NYC, called Greenwich Mews. There are only 7 residences, they're rarely for sale, and this one was put on the market, then taken off. It was built in 1989, has 3bds, 2.5ba. They priced it at $6.49M. However, Zillow thinks it's worth $4,215,200. Maybe that's the problem. Let's have a look.
Well, it's been completely renovated. Walk in the front door and there's a living room with a bay window immediately to the right.
It has a fake fireplace now, and I must say that it's not very large, but it's cozy.
The dining area is between the living room and kitchen that share the main floor space.
This is small. I wonder what it looked like originally.
The family room is a very large space, though.
1/2 bath on the main floor.
There are 4 floors.
This is nice- the primary bd. is very large and has a terrace.
Pretty terrace overlooking the Mews.
Renovated bath. Everything gray and white, b/c "that's what buyers want."
Bds. 2 & 3 are good sizes.
Renovated bath #2.
There isn't any room for private yards, so there's a communal space on top of the garage. I realize that NYC home prices are out of control, but as unique as the street is, I'm just not seeing $6.49M here.

Apartment of Apryl Miller - designed by Apryl Miller and unnamed architect - Manhattan, NY (1990s)
Great example of the wild & wacky 'Whimsicraft' aesthetic popular in the 1990's, with touches of the 'Googie' revival as well.
Scanned from the book, 'Artist Interiors: Creative Spaces, Inspired Living' by Laurie Dickson (2003)

Everything in New York City is so stupid expensive that I'm forever relegated to NJ. Gorgeous 1899 neo-Georgian townhouse on the upper east side of New York, NY has 5bds, 6ba, 8,000 sq ft, $14.995m.
Beautiful large foyer.
From there you pass through another foyer with a large niche to the main entrance hall and sweeping stairs.
This home is a study of elegance and sophistication. Look at the murals going around the sitting room.
There's a lovely bar in this hall with a beautiful blue marble counter.
These may have been service stairs, especially since they're so narrow.
So you move from the sitting room, to the bar, then to the large, elegant dining room. Perfect for entertaining. The fireplace looks like it has an inlaid vine pattern.
Large renovated eat-in kitchen is tastefully understated.
The den has a lovely fireplace and rich wood paneling.
Large, light bedroom with a marble fireplace. could be the primary.
But, this one is beautiful enough to also be the primary. Love the teal moldings.
This bedroom is also so big, that the new owner can choose any one to be the primary and this one has a view of the gardens.
Very nice home gym, too.
Wonderful sun room has built-in furniture and a fireplace.
From here, you walk out to the courtyard patio.
The statuary and metal gates are gorgeous.
Lights up beautifully at night.
Even the front of the house looks lovely.

Chorus girls snappily load scrap metal onto a truck at one of the theaters at Radio City, October 14, 1942. About 30,000 pounds of scrap metal were collected at the theatre in support of the war effort.

hi i’m back to share a kindness i received today and some somber words:
a jewish tenant just came into the office and gave me a honey cake and prosecco to say thank you for helping her with rosh prep (getting her balcony cleaned up and some paint touch ups before the holiday) and to bring me some positivity and love on the one year anniversary of the October 7th Massacre.
i wasn’t going to say anything at all today because it’s just too much and there are far more eloquent people out here but this moment reminded me that even in our darkest times we have each other so why would i not share my thoughts with all of you.
today as i think about the last year, i am reminded of the strength of our bonds and the lengths we are willing to go to stay together. i am in awe of my community and how we have come together in the twelve months to fight for our ongoing existence in so many ways. i see how we have all been affected by this war so differently and yet we each take responsibility to stay true to our values in the face of hate and violence.
judaism isn’t just an ethnoreligion, we are a family. when one of you hurts i feel it too. when so many of us are hurt, we grieve together. we build back together, we grow together.
a year ago today, October 7th 2023, my friend evyatar david was kidnapped and today, October 7th 2024, is still being held in gaza as a hostage.
if there is ever a day to cry am yisrael chai, today is that day. i need to believe it.
i need him to hear it.
we will dance again.
we will bring them home.
am yisrael chai.
i love you all so fucking much.
please take care of yourself, be safe, and be proud of who we are.

3. ‘Britain’s wildlife safari’: baby boom in Norfolk as seal colonies flourish
“More than 1,200 seal pups were born […] in November, and 2,500 more are expected to be born before the breeding season ends in January. […] “Mortality seems to be much lower than in other colonies[….]””
4. Barcelona's metro trains are helping to charge the city's EVs each time they brake.
“[…T]he energy from the underground trains' brakes is used to power the trains and the stations themselves, while the remainder is sent snaking through cables to the surface to power plug-in stations for privately owned vehicles.”
5. Scientists thought this whale could only live for 70 years – turns out it's double that.
“The data [from repeated “photo identification of individual”s] revealed that Southern right whales can live for more than 130 years, with some speculated to reach the grand old age of 150.”
6. Rural Power Co-Ops Gain $4.37B in Latest US Clean Energy Funding

8. These Brooklyn Homeowners Couldn’t Afford to Go Green. Then Help Arrived
“The program aims to repair and retrofit 70 two- and three-family homes […] in the span of two years. […] EnergyFit staff work as case managers to help homeowners navigate the complicated technical and bureaucratic processes, coordinate with tenants and set them up for further upgrades down the road.”
9. 2024 was a fantastic year for energy storage
“[… California] became the first state to pass 10 gigawatts, back in April. [… In Texas and California,] when extreme weather events hit, batteries were able to shore up the grid and lower energy costs for customers.”
10. Amid concern over microplastics, a Maine company creates a kelp-based laundry pod alternative
“"The slurry we're creating is similar to that of paper milling, and […] with Maine there's a lot of old infrastructure from the paper industry [… which] can be applied to our process here[….]” If all goes to plan, Dirigo Sea Farms' first batch of 10,000 kelp-based laundry pods will be ready for online sales by next spring.”
