The Disney fairytale movie that we COULD have had #releasetheroseredcut

By now, unless you've been living under a rock, you would have heard about Disney's live action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and how it is going to be a disaster, possibly even worse than Mulan in 2020 (and that was REALLY bad, even with the pandemic going on and everything).

However, what you probably DON'T know is, that there was another movie, an original one, but still related to the Snow White fairytale - a spinoff based on her sister, Rose Red.

Now Rose Red is such a cool fairytale, which I highly recommend that you look up and read for yourself. It has cursed bears, princes, dwarves, the power of kindness and love, all that good fairytale stuff. It is connected with the Snow White fairytale because one of characters, Rose Red's sister, shares the same name as the main character of the eponymous fairytale.

Don't get your hopes up though. According to the Disney wiki, the spinoff has been cancelled. Disney? Creating an entirely original live-action movie, but still pay homage to a classic Disney movie? Might be too much to hope for in this day and age.

While it is unlikely that we will get a live-action Snow White movie that actually respects the fairytale and the classic Disney movie (Cinderella is often held up as an example of a Disney live-action done right, and I agree), but there might be a chance for Rose Red.

The article says 'joining forces with the dwarves to break her curse' - that sounds like a cool adventure to me! And LOOK she's breaking the curse HERSELF! That's kinda of proactive and 'girlboss-y' if you want more princesses like that, Disney, instead of altering an old character's personality so that it fits with your unnecessary 'modern' twisting of beloved classics. And Snow White having a sister? Imagine the possibilities! Imagine the dynamic between the two! How did they deal with the evil queen as their stepmother? How did Rose Red deal with her sister disappearing and being poisoned? And where did she get the curse from? Did the evil queen curse her? Romantic interest-wise, in the fairytale, she ends up with the brother of the prince Snow White marries - a new Prince Charming! BUT what about the Huntsman? Here's a little headcanon for you - childhood friend of the sisters, forced to work for the evil queen, his guilt about how he almost killed Snow White, wants to help Rose Red undo her curse to atone for the past, bit of friends-to-enemies-to-lovers friction with Rose Red angry at him but eventually forgives him after realising he was forced to serve the Evil Queen, Rose Red and the Huntsman defeat the big bad (probably the Evil Queen who turns out not to be dead) together. Happily ever after!

Keen yet? Wishing this was... well... in production and not scrapped like it has been, unlike the cash-grabbing, girl boss-ified Snow White we are getting? Yeah. Me too. Disney, #ReleaseTheRoseRedCut

I will like actually never get over the choice to have marinette break adrien's rings in werepapas. without trying any other options. without any hesitation except for a slight look of concern on her face. and seeing her visually express concern/relief communicates to us that she knew there was a risk of her hurting/killing adrien there. and she just. did it anyway? without even trying to help millie break the akumatization herself? makes it hard for me to even like. understand marinette's characterization at all. she's committed to doing All This out of love for adrien but is also willing to quickly gamble his life in a situation with no other clear path forward? this decision, from the girl whose defining character traits are love, creativity, intelligence, and determination? she couldn't think of a way to navigate that situation that didn't involve risking her boyfriend's existence? most baffling writing choice of all time. borderline character assassination. to me.

Okay wait I’m suddenly 100% bought in on Moiraine and Siuan being Birgitte-Gaidal Cain style soulmates, meaning that Siuan is right now in TAR waiting for Moiraine. The promises of “in this life or the next” and “I’ll find you/I’ll wait for you every time” are not just about the cyclical turning of the wheel, but come from the fact that Moiraine and Siuan literally do this over and over and in between they wait together in TAR. Siuan is in TAR, she knows who Moiraine is, and now she just has to wait for her to return to her. Siuan Sanche does wait for only one woman, after all!

That reconciles Rafe’s comments about us seeing Siuan again (and maybe even the angel emoji??) and his comment that you can already tell how they set up their endgame, without it being reduced to flashbacks and a brief epilogue moment which feels really trite and glib and not meeting the moment. He also calls them soulmates in that Q&A 👀

Plus we’ve already seen them in dreams together. Siuan clearly has a connection to the dream world. Even their ter’angreal hut was a world of their own creation that they visited at night. The roles that they play in the narrative are roles that we need over and over if we are to defeat the dark - they are the instigation, the inspiration. They don’t just show us a beautiful love story of dedication and sacrifice, but they are the very water that turns the wheel and thus a cornerstone of every age.

Well, to be honest, I ship waycest because they're my top two favorite of the band members. In all fandoms I'm in, most of the time I ship my two favs together. And I ship all of the mcr members together.

I also got introduced to mcr through waycest fanart, not that I knew they were related at the time, of course. I was like "Waow these ocs look cool."

But the biggest part of it, I suppose, is that I don't really get how sibling incest, especially between people who can't make kids together, is that big of a deal. Maybe that's just me being an only child showing, but I just don't get it? Like the power dynamics between a parent and a child make it realistically impossible to have a consensual relationship, but those power dynamics don't really show up in this scenario, especially considering them as adults.

Boss/employee relationships aren't seen by the majority of people as bad in fiction, even though if the employee wanted to break up, they could risk getting fired for "unrelated" reasons. Imo that's a much larger power dynamic than between two siblings. And yet no one deems those problematic, even though irl, you're often banned from dating in the workplace unless you were beforehand (though this seems to be mostly an american practice)

Also Waycest shippers haven't called me a slur and told me to kill myself.

TLDR: I'm an only child and I don't understand why it's such a big deal because Mikey and Gerard are both adults who can't get eachother pregnant. I don't feel the need to justify it to myself, I just ship it because I like it.

I think people need to understand that 'fakers' are a much smaller issue to disabled people than 'fake claimers'

First of all a lot of people who 'fake' mental illness/neurodivergance are not 'faking it', they may not be neurodivergent/have a specific mental illness but most of the time they think they have do.

Faking normally implies a degree of awareness or malice but a lot are just relating to things that they are not fully informed of and coming to the conclusion that they are neurodivergen/disabled. Who/what does this effect?

Not a lot. There may be some misinformation (which obviously isn't good) but nothing overtly harmful to disabled people. To access any degree of accommodation you need a diagnosis so people aren't taking anything away because they will be denied.

And yes there are those select few people who do have awareness and malice in what they are doing, often to illicit sympathy and get money. It is these types of people who fake a physical disability in addition to mental and neurodivergence. But these are very rare.

Fake claimers however, are far more common and pervasive.

They are everywhere, they do it to actually disabled people. It is very disturbing to see in real life.

I have genuinely had strangers come up to me and say that I don't actually need my cane and try and take it off me. My own family members have taken my cane away from me and left me until they brought it back. I have had people tell me that when they push me and I fall that I made myself fall over. I have had people tell me that because I was able to hold onto my cane as they tried to take it away from me that I am lying about needing pencil grips. This is actively harmful.

And it not only happens with the people around you but with those there to help disabled people.

Due to personal bias there are professionals who say that you dont look disabled/autistic/neurodivergent/etc just because you do not present in a certain way (particularly with neurodivergent people who are denied for not being a 6 year old boy because that's how they think its 'supposed' to look).

Women and people of colour have been denied and misdiagnosed with conditions like hysteria, Bpd and anxiety disorders or, if it is physical, stress, hormones, periods, etc in place of the disability they actually have all because their conditions research was focused on white men/boys.

Ambulatory wheelchair users are told they don't need a wheelchair because they are not paralysed. Ignoring the fact that people use the mobility aid that suits them instead of being denied because they don't 'suit' the mobility aid.

If disability does not look how people initially imagined suddenly its not a disability at all.

It is a systemic and social issue that persists and is made worse by people getting upset over some random girl on tiktok saying she has Adhd.

If you do not like people being ill informed then advocate for education.

Fake claiming is a big part of abelism that we ignore and that needs to change.

kieran thinks that he looks like a painting, a muse, a love letter so heartbreakingly full of adoration that the only language it could be written in is bright swipes of pigment on a canvas. as he makes eye contact with the silk squinting around the red of a necktie, he thinks that javier may be right, if ‘girly’ could sum up ’poetry written in effeminate reverence’.

kieran always did think women made better art, wrote better books- found a better way to love. softer. warmer. prettier. like javier.

the world sounds like it’s underwater.

earnest to a fault, the look in kieran’s eye dances gingerly with javier’s internal voice. it dips and sways him, and javier, despite his instinct, finds himself charmed by its rhythm.

morgan and elle's friendship is so severely underrated and i wish we'd gotten more of them. they go on vacation together! there are also some lines in the first episode that, at least to me, imply that they knew eachother before. morgan is introduced talking to/quizzing trainees, so that seems like the most likely way, but. i don't know. i love them and i would have been curious to see how it would have been elaborated upon had lola glaudini stayed on.
