CANON AND ACCRUATE

Ivan: “HA! The haters got one thing right: you ARE cringe!”

Kitty: “And what’s the point of carrying on with that plot line when the series technically did the same thing?!”

Batty: “Kitty, that was mentioned, like, once and was totally irrelevant. Nobody was gonna remember that. How do /you/ even remember that?”

Kitty: “I take the story very seriously!.. Another reason as to why THEY SHOULD’VE HAD ME UP THERE!”

Freddy: “And Ivan, why are you complaining?? You’re like practically the fan favorite of the series, apart from also me and Bats.”

Ivan: “And there, my point still stands: I could’ve saved this film from your poor ratings. The people love me!”

Batty: (under her breath) “With that haircut… heh hehe, the mainstream would tear you apart.”

kitty hates sequels, so i can see her hating 200% wolf for that reason and because she's not in it

tara duncan (2021) to me is /at best/ not that great— in not just its rushed and poor pacing, but also its painfully confusing writing choices and plot holes. like the episodes are only like 12 minutes each but they all feel disconnected from their own individual plots that make me wonder how that even happened?

..am i still gonna vaguely enjoy over it? OK YEAH. this is true probably haha. despite its mediocrity i have to admit the premise has potential for a reimagining. there’s plenty of character id say are worthy to watch the show for (honestly, tara’s friends and the cute animal characters carry the show way over tara herself. plus ill admit the empress’s is actually funny. her va overacts all the time whenever she raises her voice and it’s actually amusing). also in typical french/belgian cartoon fashion a lot of these characters feel gay and trans as all fuck probably unintentionally which is funny but awesome

because i still love and think about the addams family a lot, to an extent that still leads me to think about how much wednesday (the series) kinda does have potential in my honest opinion. i will say it fundamentally fails at being an addams family extension due to the mischaracterization and misrepresentation of the family themselves— but i do have to give it credit in some regards.

1.) the plot is actually pretty interesting to me. yeah, there is /a lot/ of corny ass shit in the show that is extremely unnecessary still (and seriously why isn’t gwen/wednesday canon, bruh. who are these dudes i can’t even remember their names). but tbh the mysterious and thrilling aspects of the story actually intrigued me a lot and weirdly worked for the franchise in a surprising way imo.

and for 2.) being, of course, the cramps as a music choice alone. like seriously, i don’t care how weird the remaster sounds, the goo goo muck scene had me autisming and is genuinely kinda rad.

i’ll even still argue that addams family /could’ve/ probably stuck with comedy and that the mischaracterizations in the wednesday series are /not good/. but tbh, i’ll still say it’s honestly worth your time if you can overlook that.

EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING FOR SO LONG. i’ve grown up on reviewers so i’ve heard just about every fair share of both awful and interesting takes on stuff and there’s like this huge problem where i feel like everyone is just chronically unenthusiastic about everything that might be cheaper or more underground than say, dreamworks or disney, and go in assuming the movies are trying way too hard to be popular mainstream stuff and i’m like. no?

however, of course i still firmly believe everyone’s opinion is fine and valid, and they have a right to speak it. i myself can often be hard on the writing of things i praise and love dearly. i just think sometimes people can be overly harsh on things in really confusing ways, and when other don’t step in with further, more focused and in depth perceptions on potentially the same flaws, a lot of people start turning it into a punching bag. and it kinda sucks. nonetheless you’re not a moron or weird for thinking otherwise on something like that. just keep doing your thing and share your own word

is this a safe enough space for me to admit i actually really love strange magic and kinda don’t think its as unbearably terrible as many others do

like, i know it has its fair share of problems: sunny and dawns toxic relationship not being regarded as such and probably marianne’s dad being the most egregious part. but tbh id honestly say its pixar’s brave levels of overhated cause its honestly the most fairly decent film you could get. maybe im missing something obvious or im blinded by bias cause it was one of my fav movies growing up, but with its overall really cool twist on fairytale love stories and cool ass world building and designs i just can’t hate it. it’s pretty fun for what it is even if some of the criticisms for it are valid enough

definitely gonna write more in depth on this but that’s what i’m saying. i’m a strange magic enjoyer what can i say ‼️

at least in some ways you can really see how the theme of insecurity is seeped into the 100% wolf antagonists as well. the most straightforward one is certainly max who is kinda more or less a reflection of freddy type of representation, while characters like hotspur and hath kinda are their own take. hotspur is the jealous younger brother who makes shitty decisions and hath is the “my life is nothing unless i do this” turned to insanity scenario. but even when its glossed over way more compared to max (especially in the series), it’s definitely a prominent thing

freddy hates truffles or anything truffle flavored bc they're hotspur's fav food and he has them a lot. even the smell makes him kinda sick

hotspur decides to be an ass one day and tries to force freddy to go find some for him (poodles have been used to hunt truffles and he feels he should make use of himself that way). so ofc freddy is indignant and bites him like he deserves 😒
