Sorry for serious post
But you may have heard the UK is massively cutting disability benefits, which is really bad for me, a disabled. I know a change.org petition is, like, the cliche of ineffective activism, but this one was made by a labour MP during a labour rebellion so it might have more effect. Even if not, it's at least doing something. So please sign and share, if you're able to.
Sorry again, back to the funnies soon.

I don't care if your 9, 20, 35, or fucking 50. Your patents can go to the doctor with you. It's called your patient advocate.
See I have bad reactions to medications and sometimes those conversations with doctors go
"so what was your reaction?"
"Honestly I cannot remember"
Sometimes it's symptoms like brain fog that causes me to not remember. Sometimes I lose time. Sometimes I just sleep so much. There's a lot of reasons why I can't remember. But I always remember it was really bad the doctor should know I had a really bad reaction.
And I do not have a partner that can go to appointments with me.
So I bring a parent.
Why? Because when the doctor asks "What was the reaction" the parent actually remembers.
But the number of doctors that have infantilized me "You're a grown adult you don't need your parent."
And the thing is. I know what the doctor is doing when they do this. My parents won't let the doctor dismiss my symptoms because my parents are the ones that have to drive me to the emergency room when they get too bad. But if the doctor refuses to let my parent in "You're a grown adult" the "diagnosis" I get is always "Oh, it's just anxiety".
And I feel like doctors know when I'm having brain fog and therefore they can take advantage of me like that because I'm too confused to argue with them. "Oh. Why do you let your doctor talk to you like that". YEAH THAT'S A SYMPTOM OF MY MIGRAINES. THAT'S KINDA WHY I'M GOING TO THE DOCTOR.

Oh noooooo. Did my disability remind you of your own mortality and now you feel a little scared, Nancy? That’s not my problem.

help tiktok kids want to try come at you with a seam ripper at shows for wearing an anti swastika patch.
[video description: begins with a tiktok of a young person holding a seam ripper. video transcription: why would i need to bring a seam ripper to a concert? So that if you see someone with a crossed out swastika on their jacket, you can rip it off. video description: Then a stitch video of a new speaker who is using a filter that makes them look like a face on a lemon. Video transcription: TikTok is the only place that I've seen anyone saying that they don't want Anti-Swas on the scene. I have only seen this on TikTok. The majority of the people I see sharing the sentiment are young, or, they are people who are clearly not in the punk scene. Sorry! Gonna have to call you out a little bit, but you know what? Calling people out? Especially posers? Is a time-honored tradition in our community, so, get used to it!
Anti-Swas is not as commonly misunderstood to be something that came into the scene to show Jewish punks that they're safe. It came into the scene to show white "mm" (representing redaction of supremacist) and Neo-"mm" (Nazis) that they are not safe in that crowd, in that group, in that event. That is why it's worn. And the people who wear that symbology, in my scene, historically, they wear it because they are about that. Meaning that they are going to enforce. That those individuals are not welcome.
I am a punk of Jewish heritage, I wear the symbols. The Anti-Swas. I have a shirt with a huge one on the front, I love wearing it. Patches, buttons, I love it. It makes me feel proud and happy. So let me tell you if you come at me and you rip a patch off of me, or a button off of me, with that symbology I am immediately going to assume that you are a white "mm" or a Neo-"mm" and I'm gonna hand your butt to you. Very quickly. And as hard as possible. I am going to focus all of my rage on that entire subgroup onto your face. So im gonna have to break it to you to break it to you! And also if you do it with a seam ripper which is like, the fuck? A seam ripper? Don't come to a scene with a seam ripper, that is so bizarre, you can't even rip a patch off with your bare hands? And you bring a seam ripper- (laughing). But anyways, when I realize it's a seam ripper and not a small weapon, I'm going to mock you mercilessly as I beat you.
White "mm" and Neo-"mm" would like nothing more than for us to get rid of that symbology. 'Cause then they blend in better. And then they can say that they're welcome. Or they can argue that. And we don't like leaving room for them to argue. Not in my scene. Also, getting rid of the Anti-Swas symbology is a little ableist, don't you think? A lot of white "mm" and Neo-"mm" can't read. End video transcription]
i understand why people dont agree or feel comfortable with anti swastika patches, but i want to allow this jewish person to say their opinion on the matter. They personally like it and think its effective at keeping nazi fucks out of the scene and are very proud to wear it out
just the mental image of a small lil tiktok kid approaching a guy in the pit like uwu lemme seam rip off ur patch for u

Fuck it.
*said by the same person who said the last one. She had lots of ideas like this but considered herself a hardcore progressive
*ie. Maternity ward.
* this is, in fact, not how it works
*yes, this person was an old timer. She also said that in retrospect, the switch was a "christofacist" conspiracy theory.
*and I quote, verbatim, because this was so absurd I had to write it down, "When they (parents) have a kid that young they can always just have another
People already know that the medical/health fields have issues. But oh fucking Lord, it's so much worse than the average person thinks

semi verbal person here:
stop trying to read people’s AAC while we’re crafting a sentence.
for context, that’s essentially the equivalent of reading someone’s mind while they’re trying to figure out what to say.

"we want more mentally ill/disabled characters with ugly symptoms!"
You guys can't handle lapis lazuli tony stark or hank pym! You guys can barely contain your ableism toward the hulk! You guys hate the good doctor for all the wrong reasons! You made fun of his speech patterns and his meltdowns wtf like I'm sorry the only autistic person you've supported have been the perfect non annoying type- but too many of especially as children are like shawn- they talk weird and don't understand what's so offensive about what they said
You guys keep saying Lapis should just be rewritten into a villain! I don't like how the show handled her but like your really gonna make the girl who shows ugly bad symptoms of ptsd into villain? You guys keep trying to make hank into a villain or rewrite his past- god forbid a character have really sevre ugly symptoms that causes them to make decisions that permanently effect the story but have them still be heroes! God forbid Ironman have npd and be a hero! Let's shame MCU Bruce for his mental illness for being unable to do things because of it! God as soon as a character with a mental illness or developmental disorder or low IQ shows actual symptoms and behaviors (ei: acts like how someone with the disorder in question acts- you know the main part of having a fucking disorder) you get pissy and pile on the shame- yeah jen you do control your anger better than bruce- you can also stand better than Charles fucking Xavier! Yeah your smarter than a guy with a low IQ want a cookie?
I'm never gonna be one of those people who tell others to stop writing disabled villains or that writing a character that deals with internalized ableism (disabled people like any group of people can be total prices of shit, and I'm sorry not everyone is content and accepting of their disabilities and some of us take comfort in characters that struggle with being angry because of their problems) but Jesus Christ when a heroic character with ugly symptoms who makes cruel decisions or has 'bratty' or 'immature' moments can we let them stay heroes? Can we let them have a disorder without piling on the shame that we are inferior because we can't do something everyone else can- because that's literally what a disability is! Can they still be heroes?
Do we have to use intellectual/developmental disability as a shorthand for anti intellectualism and being a gross annoying psycho
Do we have to make every heroic character with aspd or npd into a villain or change their disability to autism because it's 'more sympathetic' as if lack of empathy isn't a goddamned symptom of many disabilities like PTSD and autism- You can headcanon tony as having autism- that's cool by me but it's clear some of y'all do it to make him a 'woobie'- which is infantalizing btw but also it's because some of y'all are ableist toward people with npd
I hate that the only acceptable 'ugly symptoms' are things like forgetting to shower or brush your teeth every once in a while or being a bit irritable and not stuff like burning bridges or having explosive outburts
Also it's not a mental illness unless it effects your behavior?
Im not saying that we should just accept and allow mentally ill/intellectually disabled people/characters to get away with bad behaviors unpunished but can they stay heroes? Can they still be respectable?
"we want more characters with ugly symptoms"
Yet
You people get offended by low functioning autistic people existing! You get mad at them for being incontinent or nonverbal/making strange noises or having scary anger issues or IQs low enough that they will never be independent you get mad at them for not showing the 'appropriate' reactions to things they may or may not fully understand- you hate people with sensory issues -
You don't want mentally ill/disabled characters- you want characters with the labels of mental disabilities without any of the ugly strange or off putting behaviors mental/intellectual deficiencies/issues cause- you want a romantic tragedy!
You shame people with Alzheimer's for FORGETTING stuff and LOSING SKILLS 'yeah yeah you are superior to your uncle because you can remember stuff but can you remember it's a fucking disease! you people are cruel
Yes you are technically superior to disabled people because you are capable of things we aren't and you have better character and you can control yourself but guess what? Those people you hate for being incapable of that shit have disabilities it's not our faults! It's the fucking definition of a disability! Like yeah it is a skill issue and we're just 'worse' than nondisabled with us lacking self control and having lower IQs and bad mental processing- yeah it is because we're lacking in some capacity that's like the definition disability you can't say you support disabled people and then turn around and say shit about how your better than these people because you can talk or take care of yourself
Hank Pym and Lapis Lazuli should get called out for acting like assholes and pieces of shit but I am firmly against turning one of few heroic characters who actively struggle with psychosis and delusions into another 'psycho' villain and I'm firmly against saying Lapis is just as bad as Jasper and using symptoms of her PTSD as signs she should be rewritten into a villain- I want them to be held accountable not turned into straight up evil guys or dear god washing out their problematic qualities until they're palatable/relatable to a neurotypical audience to make them good guys when they are already good guys!
Can people who do bad things because of their disabilities still be heroes? Can they be allowed to get better or do they have to accept that having ugly symptoms means being the bad guy? Fucking hell this is why I side eye anyone who acts like mental illness/developmental/cognitive or mental etc disabilities are more destigmatized than physical disabilities (trust me they aren't)
Tldr let characters with ugly symptoms be heroes let your characters with mental disorders act like they have a disorder and let said characters be heroes inspite of it!

While I was out with my boyfriend, some kid who was talking about being a gangster turned to me and went, "Look at her cane! Kick her cane!!!" 😭 Reminder that even though a lot of people who use canes can walk without them, DONT KICK PEOPLES CANES??? I thought that was common knowledge but I fear it isn't...

Do able-bodied people have any idea, do they even have the slightest f*cking clue how embarrassing it is to “just lean” on them?
like today, I was forced to walk through a museum with horrendous vertigo and tremors in my legs. my legs literally would *not* cooperate. I couldn’t walk properly. so what happened? I had to lean on not just one, but two people. and not even a casual lean. I was *gripping* onto both of them just to stay upright.
and the whole time it’s “take a seat, you need rest.”
yeah, I do. you’re right. but I didn’t come to the museum to sit on a f*cking bench. I came to see the museum. the art. the exhibits. the stuff I was excited about. not to sit and watch everyone else enjoy it without me.
“just lean on me then.”
sure. why not. that’s already mortifying enough, but okay, because my cane isn’t helping today and that’s the only mobility aid you’ll “let” me use. so yeah. I’ll lean on you. not because I want to, but because I have No. Other. Choice.
and then while I’m doing that, you’re constantly stopping to look at stuff *you* like—stuff I don’t even care about—but I don’t get a choice, do I? I can’t just wander off and go see what *I* want. it’s either stick with you or try to walk away, collapse, and make a scene.
or worse:
“you wait here, I’ll be right back.”
so now I’m standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, no one to lean on, completely unsupported. and someone asks me to move. I can’t. and I have to explain myself, again and again:
“yeah, I can stand, I just can’t walk.”
“no, really, just go around me.”
“sorry, my human mobility aid wandered off.”
and all of this wouldn’t even be a problem if I was allowed anything else. I’m not even asking for a wheelchair at this point. just something. forearm crutches, a rollator, literally anything that lets me support myself on both sides. anything but having to rely on you.
it’s humiliating. it’s exhausting. it’s frustrating beyond belief. I just want to be able to enjoy things like a normal person. I just want to walk without it turning into a whole thing
I’m so. damn. tired.

"But why are you so against mentally ill people joking about RFK Jr's wellness camps?"
This is a copy on an article adversing lobotomy in 1937.
That's 9 years before Trump was born. (To give you a timeframe of it wasn't that long ago)
It's suggested you get a lobotomy if you experience
Anxiety
Depression
Tension
Apprehension
Insomnia
Suicidal ideas
Crying spells
Delusions
Hallucinations
Melancholia
Obsessions
Panic states
Disorientation
Psychalgesia
Nervous indigestion
Hysterical paralysis
The ones in red are just what I experience. The idea of them lobotomizing me for *checks notes*.... anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and stomach issues caused by stress wasn't that long ago.
So maybe let's stop acting like threats to mentally ill people is just a haha joke and let's treat threats like "wellness camps" like the actual threat that they are, yes?
(I'm actually a high functioning anxious bitch with stomach issues. So maybe let's stop letting them dehumanize mentally ill people? Yes?)

Someone on Twitter said this much more eloquently but the regime’s attack on people with disabilities and mental illnesses is an attack on all of us. And not in a theoretical, “if everyone doesn’t have rights, no one has rights” kind of way. But in a very concrete “they will diagnose disagreeing with them as a mental illness and use it to strip their political opponents of their rights” kind of way.
Some Repubs in Minnesota already tried to get the ball rolling and get ‘TDS’ declared a mental illness. And just because they failed once doesn’t mean they won’t try again.

’Isaac Newton was a cold, rude person-‘ he was mentally ill Karen.
‘Dante would have had to be a real bastard to have written about these people in Hell-‘ he was working through trauma Karen.
‘Robespierre was creepy and never smiled, and lacked empathy-‘ he worked relentlessly for human rights Karen. He might have been autistic and even if he wasn’t, stop judging dead people by their facial expressions, ‘ya bastard.
Jesus, the way we talk about historical figures really reveals people’s ableism, now doesn’t it?
