LEE HEESEUNG

You set your phone on a makeshift camera-holder made from books and candles, then press record and shuffle back to your boyfriend. 

“Okay, close your eyes,” you instruct him and smile when he obliges, additionally turning his head to the side, looking straight into the camera as you apply the first chapstick from your little stack. After a couple seconds, you call out to him again, “You can open them now!”

His eyes instantly drop to your lips, the subtle glow of the chapstick already making him impatient to kiss you. 

“You can go n-”

Your words are rudely interrupted by his greedy lips. They move with yours, starting with a simple peck, then going a little deeper, to taste you better. The sweetness is a little too much for him but he’s having too much fun teasing you this way to pull away right away. 

But once he finally does, he’s met with your expecting eyes.

“Watermelon,” he guesses.

You nod your head with a wide smile. “Yeah!” 

A small grimace makes its way on his face. “I fucking hated this one.”

“Yeah, I’m not the biggest fan either. Now, turn around.”

You wipe off the chapstick before carefully applying another one. Your fingers barely touch Heeseung’s shoulder to catch his attention, when his mouth is already latching onto yours. 

He savors the taste of your lips, slowly and sensually and you feel more lightheaded with every next second. He captures your bottom lip, sucking on it repeatedly until you can’t breathe anymore. Suddenly reminding yourself of your surroundings, you pull away abruptly, ignoring your boyfriend’s cocky smirk.

Clearing your throat, you fix your hair. “Great. Now I can’t post it anywhere.”

Heeseung grins at your pout, hand reaching up to pinch at your cheek teasingly. 

“It was coconut, by the way,” he answers your question before you even get the chance to ask it, and damn, he’s right again.

PARK JAY

Jay watches as a grin spreads onto your lips. 

“I picked that one just for you,” you say sweetly, shuffling closer on the bed until your knees touch. “C’mon, give it a try.”

He snickers slightly when you close your eyes and obnoxiously pucker your lips, waiting for him to make a move. Leaning forward, he gently cradles your cheek in his hand before pressing the softest of kisses on your lips. You let him suck on your lips for a moment before he pulls away first and flicks your nose.

“Oh, that’s honey.”

You nod with enthusiasm, pretending as if his kiss hasn’t flipped your insides out. “Yeah. Good guess!”

He closes his eyes, his hand blindly reaching out for yours to rub circles on your soft skin as you apply the next chapstick. You smack your lips together to even out the product, then move closer to your boyfriend again. 

His pretty eyes find yours again and he closes the space between you two, pressing your lips together lovingly. Your fingers clench on his t-shirt, and you tilt your face to the side to deepen the kiss slightly. And, fuck, you just can’t help yourself. 

It’s Jay who has to pull away again with a small giggle, thumb wiping away the smudged chapstick from under your bottom lip. 

He licks his lips, tasting the waxy residue you’ve left from your kiss. Then he thinks for a second. “... Peach?” 

You nod with a satisfied hum. “One more?” 

This time you’re not gonna fuck around. You pick the most bizarre chapstick flavor in front of your eyes, then call Jay over to you, waiting for him with a soft smile on your lips.

“This one’s a little more difficult.”

Jay grunts then kisses your pink, now slightly swollen lips. A content sigh escapes your lips at his tender touch, shivering when the cool ring on his finger brushes over the skin on your thigh. The kiss lasts a little longer than the two previous ones but Jay breaks it after stealing all of your breath away.

“I think it’s like… pear,” he guesses, a little unsurely this time but this expression melts away when your face lightens up again. 

“Yeah! Holy shit, babe, how are you so good at this?”

SIM JAKE

He didn’t even need a second to think to agree to your game. Now, with you sitting across from him on the living room floor, he presses your lips together to try the first chapstick.

What he never expected was for you to taste so damn good, so with a low hum in his throat, he pulls you closer to him by your neck and takes in all the sweetness of you. His other hand lands right under your jaw, gentle fingers tilting your face up for a better access to your lips.

After another second or two or five, you drag your face away from his and wait for your boyfriend’s guess. 

Jake licks his lips and tries his best to look as if he actually has a clue of what he’s doing. It’s not like he got completely fucking lost in your lips – not at all, what a stupid thought.

And so he shoots blankly. “Okay, this gotta be like… tangerine.”

You look at him ridiculously. “What, no! That was vanilla.”

“Oh… Yeah, you’re right,” he clears his throat, hand running through his soft hair. “Gimme the next one.”

You roll your eyes and throw a blanket across his face, knowing well his tendencies to cheating. You take one of your makeup wipes and clean your lips, eyes searching for some easy flavor. Once you’re done picking, you take the blanket off of Jake’s face and get on your knees in front of him.

Deciding on helping him out a little bit and not letting him get distracted again, you place a simple peck on his mouth, long enough for him to actually get a taste of your chapstick. 

Jake presses his lips together as he thinks for a moment. “Is it apricot?”

Your jaw slacks in disbelief. “Oh, be so for real right now! That was like the easiest guess of them all!”

“Well, what was it?” He scrunches his nose.

“Strawberry! Fuck you mean apricot?”

Jake can’t help but giggle at how aggravated you’re getting with this game. “Sorry, sorry. One last try! I promise I’ll get this one.” He places his palm over his heart.

“Fine.”

You repeat the procedure, then go in for a peck again, not wanting to risk losing your boyfriend again. 

“And?” You ask, a hopeful glimmer in your eyes.

“Cherry.”

You let out a heavy sigh. “That was rose.”

Jake snickers, finally grabbing your waist to drag you all over the way to his lap. “Should’ve guessed that. You tasted like a granny, felt like I was kissing a seventy year old.”

“Hey!”

PARK SUNGHOON

Even expecting him to actually take you seriously was your first mistake. 

But your lips are so pink and so glossy – you can’t blame him, really. It’s like you’re begging to be kissed over and over again.

And so now, sitting next to you on the couch, he has your soft hand covering his eyes to prevent him from cheating. You apply the mango chapstick generously onto your lips and return your boyfriend’s vision a moment later.

You turn your face to his unimpressed one, an adorably excited smile spread on your lips and making his own twitch up a little. 

“You ready?” You chirp, hiding the chapstick behind your back. 

He motions for you to move closer, spreading his legs to make you more place in between them. “C’mere, baby.”

With a roll of your eyes, you still oblige and settle between his thighs, wrapping your arms around his neck. Not wasting any more time, Sunghoon ducks down and captures your lips with his. The kiss is deep and takes all of your breath away when his tongue slides over your bottom lip lewdly. 

His kiss is way too intense for the silly game you had in mind in the first place, so before he can go even further, you pull away from him, cupping his chin in your hand.

“So?” 

Sunghoon shrugs, eyes hungry for more. “Dunno. Lemme have another go.”

“Hey!” You pout, puckering your lips and giving him a perfect opportunity to press another kiss to them. And so he does, surging forward and molding your mouths together again. 

He sucks on your lip like a hungry man, his caresses sloppy and without a care in the world for your game anymore. His body aches for you, for more, so he opens your mouth by tugging your chin down gently with his warm fingers, then slipping his tongue inside your mouth. 

“My god, Hoon-” You push on his chest gently, trying to pry the visibly touch-starved man away from your lips. “Wait, let me try another one.”

Sunghoon dismisses your protests and presses another kiss to your lips. “Nah, I like that one.”

“But that’s the first one I tried on!” You whine, slowly surrendering yourself to your stubborn boyfriend.

“Well, then it obviously was the best pick.”

Sunghoon’s arm slides down to wrap around your waist firmly before falling backwards on the couch and pulling you onto his chest as he goes down. He chuckles in your lips at your annoyed grunt, his fingers cradling your cheek as he deepens the kiss. As much as you want to tell yourself you’ll never play this fucking game with him again, you know it would be a blatant lie after all.

“nanami’s favorite little dessert”

(based on the vanilla eos lotion everybody should use it tbh) + i never write about this man but it came to me putting on lotion one night LMAO

nanami kento wasn’t the biggest fan of sweets, bread? sure. he’d eat a whole loaf and not feel guilty. but sweets? not a fan. the smell alone could makes his head hurt because it just smells so damn sweet.

that.. of course is an exception when it came to you, prancing around with your coconut shampoo reminding him of a perfectly wrapped almond joy, or your sweet perfumes that’d have you smelling like caramel one day and chocolate the next. it was almost like you were his personal little candy store, and as much as it’d hate him to admit… maybe sweets weren’t SO bad when you were around

the scent that was arguably his favorite out of all was this vanilla smelling lotion that he’d never encountered before, — though it was a brief introduction, only filling his nose slightly when he left the house for his early morning assignment it annoyingly stuck in his head the whole time, like a sticky piece of gum you couldn’t completely get off..

—the smell of perfectly baked vanilla cupcakes crowding his mind… so stupidly sweet but so full of you….he constantly thought “would it be weird to take a bite maybe two knowing you’d be just as soft and delicate as the fluffy cake that holds the icing? or would it be overbearing to lick every inch of you as if he was savoring the sweetness of the vanilla icing on top of such an unforgettable cupcake?” or hell would it be brazen to do both and not give a fuck?

the thoughts overwhelming him so bad he even thought about handing the mission over to gojo for a brief second.. but he knew he didn’t want another bothersome problem on top of another one. just like the icing on top of a damn cupcake. —

the sooner he finished this, the sooner he could get home to smell you, to taste you, to savor every last inch of that stupid vanilla scented lotion that’s got him so damn distracted

But his most popular one is recording his family's reaction to him saying the fuck-word for the first time. He also has a series where he asks people how babies are made to see whose response TikTok takes down first.

Duke posts subtle and wholesome pranks, like leaving Tooth Fairy money under the older batkids' pillows or gradually filling Kate's purse with Jolly Ranchers. His most popular series is when he slowly replaced Damian's furniture with increasingly smaller replicas until the 8th day when Damian finally notices.

Steph does a little bit of everything and often takes suggestions (re: dumb dares) from the comments. Her account started with her just sharing her favorite memes, but her most popular video is when she slept in a bathtub full of Mardi Gras necklaces after an audience poll.

Cass normally posts a mix of dance covers and sign language lessons, but occasionally there will be moments from her daily life that she captures at the right time. Her most viral video is at the grocery store when someone accidentally knocks a coconut onto the ground and she follows it as it rolls to the other end of the store.

Harper and Cullen do a lot of backyard science experiments where they take hypotheses from comments and test them out, like if they can cook steak with firecrackers or make a trampoline out of rubber bands. Their biggest project was turning an abandoned pool into a frog sanctuary.

Barbara keeps most of her daily videos private and her public ones are mainly book hauls, song recs, and computer tips. Her most popular video, even making news articles, is a video where she breaks down how planned obsolesce works and calling out big tech companies.

Bruce has a secret account that no one knows about. He doesn't post anything. He just lurks because he wants to be the first like and comment whenever his kids post.

Must-read Destiel fics - my superduper Nov. 5th rec list

Three years ago, on the blessed day of November 5th, 2020, I had:

never seen an episode of SPN,

only had a vague inkling of what the two pale coconuts were on about,

and I hee-heed and ha-had with the rest of Tumblr about the love confession scene and the Internet errupting in an unparalleled craze

At first I thought, that's it.

Then ... I got curious. I watched some YouTube Destiel supercuts. I read some fic (I think @andhumanslovedstories beautiful Cas/OC fic was my entry point?). I read meta. I watched some more YouTube scene packs. I read even more fic. I watched some of S4, some of S1, some random fan fav episodes. And then Destiel lodged itself so deeply, thouroughly into my brain that it took over and hasn't relinquished control in the last two years. The most tenacious, pervasive brain worm to date.

This ship got it all, and this fandom got it all, and there's such delightful, powerful, batshit crazy, romantic, expertedly crafted fanfic out there, it's like being a starving child in the world's biggest candystore.

So without further ado, here's some of my very favorite fics from this infinite trove, with all my thanks to the wonderful writers who keep delighting and awing me with their dedication and craft. There'll of course be some recency bias at play but you can browse my bookmarks over here to chose from over 100 excellent and well-curated SPN stories.

💕CATEGORY: SWOONWORTHY💕

Wildly romantic fics that warm you up from the inside.

It Won't Be Perfect by someonetoanyone (10K words) Summary: Dean daydreams about what it'd be like to let himself love Cas freely.

Why I love it: the humor, the spot-on characterizations, and the quintessential late season Destiel-ness of being so deeply love with your best friend that it's too big to actually do anything about. Just. So warm.

Rock Lobster by Ginger Fail (13K) Summary: Cas decides that the lobsters Dean planned to cook need to get back home. Impromptu beach vacation ensues!

Why I love it: This road trip story is fresh and invigorating like a sea breeze! Fun, entertaining and full of deep, deep fondness.

Seek to Know You Better by ahurston (32K)

Summary: On a road trip, Dean and Cas play the 36 Questions That Lead To Love.

Why I love it: They’re so deliberatedly, carefully starting a relationship here. They try so hard to bridge the gaps and meet each other halfway. A very mature take on love that feels nourishing.

Fics that make you go BARK BARK BARK.

samson went back to bed by piesexuality (9k, @twoheadedcas) Summary: Cas strikes a deal with Chuck - keeping his family together comes at the price of their free will.

Why I love it: What if Cas got his revenge for the Mala'ak box? What if love came at the price of everything you've been fighting for? What if a story twisted the knife oh so sweetly? Each word of this one lands a punch. Made me insane in the best of ways (cue pinned fanart).

In sickness by @saintedcastiel (41K) Summary: S4 redux but Castiel has a fetish: giving Dean the sniffles.

Why I love it: This one is soooo. Can barely find words for it. It taps into Cas' early season alienness and psychosexual obsession with Dean, brilliantly demonstrates Casdean vs Samruby parallels, and each word is just. Perfect. ARGH!

so much smoke in a hall full of mirrors by AreYouReady (6K, @autisticandroids ) Summary: Godstiel is losing his heavenly war. Crowley provides a compliant Dean-doll for him to release his frustrations upon.

Why I love it: Urgh, this one is sooo dark. Taps into the scary, intimidating and alien aspects of Godstiel so well. Gore, consent and psychosexual issues galore. Delicious.

Special mention: In a Parked Car, Exhuming Ophelia by @an-android-in-a-tutu (17K). Still need to comment properly ;)

💣CATEGORY: EMOTIONAL WRECKING BALLS💣

Angsty fics that tear you to pieces to remake you better.

What Used To Be Mine by someonetoanyone (48K words) Summary: Dean never makes his apology prayer in Purgatory - Cas dies, Dean mourns.

Why I love it: Oh god, this is a heavy hitter. Just, straight up insurmontable grief, packaged in poetic, raw language to make you shed tears and tears. Loved it so much.

Ignite your bones By ilovehowyouletmefall (67K, @angelinthefire) Summary: Dean accepts Chuck's deal: killing Sam to save the world.

Why I love it: Cruuuuel cruel premise for a story that doesn’t pull its punches. It gets dark in Dean’s head and everyone around him suffers. Wonderfully written. The ending set my brain on fire.

Right Where you Left Me by outdean (93K, @armandgender)

Summary: Cas comes back from the Empty after 10 years to find Dean married to another man.

Why I love it: This one is a riiiide. When grief has become a part of you but your love comes back… When you return from the dead and have to carve a new space into the world for yourself... nothing is easy here, but the emotions are INTENSE. Also, autistic!Cas for the win.

Special mention: Who Ya Gonna Call? by saintedcastiel (50K) and Clear skies in spring by enochianprayer (WIP)

💥CATEGORY: EPIC RIDES💥

Expansive, wild adventures with lots of ups and downs

Spirit of the West by teen_dean (140K, @urne-buriall)

Summary: An 18y old Dean grew up on a horse farm – cue veterinarian Castiel. The summer of a lifetime ensues.

Why I love it: So this is one of my very favorite stories, ever ever, and I cannot recommand enough to immediatedly suscribe to the author’s Substack to be able to follow it in „real time“ next summer. It’s cinematic, rich, full of darkness and light, it’s everything a story can aspire to, I’m just. I just really love it.

Second Verse, Same as The First by LaLaCat1 (135K)

Summary: Endverse!Cas is sent back to the start of S1 and is determined to make things right this time round.

Why I love it: a desperate and badass Cas, unfridging everyone, a thrilling plot, moments of awesome for the entire cast, gripping action scenes, a romance for the ages… this is a genuinely amazing story.

back road, black road by eden22 (167K)

Summary: 18y old Sam gets kidnapped by Hell on his way to Stanford. Dean tries to deal.

Why I love it: So this one’s not Destiel-centric but does have wonderful Destiel moments. It’s also very heavy on the gore and the angst (NOT for the faint of stomach), but expertly crafted, fascinating and frankly it deserves more love. Held my breath for half the read and never knew where it’d take me.

Special mention: It's The End Of The World (As We Know It) by tiamatv (140K)

Uproariously funny stories about the intricate rituals these two weirdos get up too.

Why I love it: Dean coming to Big Self-Realizations while trying to have platonic threesomes with Cas is so perfect. Very endearing, tender and funny. Also, smoking hot sex.

Why I love it: Just. Late season Dean being deranged about Cas’ sexuality while everyone watches on in utter confusion. Equally hilarious and deeply moving

bringing you the real splatoon news. live journalism. i tried the baskin robins splatoon sodie. a hodgepodge of artificial fruit flavor. vaguely citrusy soda with coconut jelly cubes. breaking the little flavor packets was fun. the ice cream is fruit punch, with the little green bits being white chocolate i think? i liked the Bits. the final image was several minutes into drinking it, having melted into a fruity slurry of green food coloring. the slop. what the media doesnt want you to see. they did a splatoon 3 BR collab late last year, but instead of the ice cream being tricolor it was just yellow and blue. i honestly liked that one more than the tricolor flavor, im not the biggest fruit punch fan. my curiosity was satiated, i got a cute cup and sticker, and something cold to drink out of it, so i dont regret it. but flavorwise? it was just. Ok. i wouldnt order it again.

it’s the way i just came across a Harvey Dent edit (played by Misha) and the scenes were so dark i couldn’t even see his face properly but from what I did see, he did not age well.

like people can have their own opinions on who they think is hot or not but Misha really? He hasn’t even heard of chapstick!!

Homie has aged like curdled milk, but I didn’t think he was attractive to begin with. He looks like a melted toad. Yeah, I’m surprised he has never heard of lip balm. Coconut oil even. Does he drink water? I don’t think so. Homie don’t even have an acting career let’s be honest… the biggest thing he was in was supernatural and he was like a guest star… I think he got bumped up briefly to “series regular” but he was never a lead, and never will be, and that will forever chap his ass and his stans asses, but who cares in the end when he only, in all reality, has a few thousand, at best, fans. Not the flex he thinks it is and he isn’t relevant at all but he tries to push himself in these spaces he doesn’t belong and bites the hand that feeds continually. His contempt and jealousy for Jared shows constantly. It must suck to be outdone by a much younger, far more attractive, man who didn’t go to an elitist school, had no formal training, and still made a better actor than him. Misha Collins is fucking gross end of story.

do you have any good suggestions for keeping humidity in an enclosure sky high (like, 80% bare minimum)? i've heard daily misting does wonders and i know some substrate helps better then others, but do you have a more specific answer?

I'm actually not the biggest fan of misting - unless you've got a very reliable misting system set up, it can be easy for misting to cause dips and spikes in humidity levels and you really want your humidity to stay consistent.

Here's how I maintain tropical humidity levels:

Picking the right enclosure is critical! You can maintain high humidity in screen-top enclosures but that'll be a lot more work for you. For small snakes or babies, plastic tubs are perfect; for adults, PVC is a good material choice.

Choose a good humidity-retaining substrate. Coconut husk is my go-to; it can get dusty when dry but you shouldn't let it get dry. It's very easy to rehydrate by simply dumping water directly into it.

Provide a large water bowl! An easy trick is to add another water bowl on the hot side of the enclosure; as it evaporates, it'll release extra moisture into the air.

Make sure your snake always has access to a humidity box! They can be easily made by cutting a hole in the lid of a food storage container big enough for your snake to fit inside and filling it with damp moss.

Once you've got your enclosure set up with humidity-retaining substrate and nice big water bowls, it's honestly just a matter of maintenance. Use a good hygrometer with a probe, and rehydrate the substrate when you top up the water. I only ever need to mist my tropical enclosures when those snakes are shedding!
