Kep did a demo run of the CGC test yesterday, he did really well and only failed on 1 step (1.5, kind of), which was the distance stay. that was actually where I expected he’d fail, he struggles a lot with stays (combo of poor impulse control + FOMO). and he half-failed the “greet a stranger” part because he did try and jump up at first, and then the person we were using was like “oh I just ate a bag of chips” and used her other hand to pet and he stayed sitting, so we’re not sure if he was jumping bc rude or bc he smelled snacks.

he gets a final run opportunity next week, so we’ll try and work on practicing his stays more and see if we can make enough progress to get it done. if he still can’t do it I’m not too pressed, I think at that point it’s just a matter of letting him grow up a bit and regain some brains. he did really well on everything else (no barking! what an experience) so I’m still pleased overall!

and in a song full of double meanings, glinda isn't asking that question (only) to the ozians. she's asking it to elphaba, who has always been that other half of "you and i." even though glinda has promised not to reveal the truth, she's still hoping that it will come to light someday for her and elphaba. and it's also a heartbreaking call-forward to defying gravity, because just like that moment where glinda almost gets on the broom, there can't be a "you and i" here--it's cut off by the world they exist in.

So I was looking at your fan art guide and character sheets (which I love, I definitely want to draw any of them soon!!) and I saw on Cassius’ that he’s aromantic. So what going to happen with the knight and him? I’m not to knowledgeable on aromantic but know that it’s no romantic feelings. I’m sorry if this seems like I’m disliking the fact that he is in any way, I’m just a little confused is all since I don’t know much about that.

well that's up to you to research aromanticism if you want to learn more about it.

yes cassius is aromantic, and he still loves his knight. you can love someone without being able to feel romantic attraction. platonic love exists. and i don't need to explain how that works for him as he's already done that. there's an entire audio of casisus realising his knight is in love with him, and explaining that he himself is aromantic and while he wants to be together with his knight he worries about not being enough because he's aromantic, to which his knight assures him that isn't the case. I can't explain him better than he does. and while cassius is aromantic, he is not asexual and is very much sexually attracted to his knight.

but it's not my job or responsibility to explain aromanticism. and not all aromantic people want platonic or qpp (queer platonic partner) relationships. and not all aromantic people are allosexual like cassius is, some are aroace. cassius does not and cannot ever represent all aromantic people as not all aromantic people are the same. and aromanticism just like asexuality is a spectrum with various labels around it. i myself am not aromantic and do not want to speak for aromantic people, i am demiromantic and repcipromantic. and i do not feel like i can explain any identities better than people already have. there's lgbt+ identity wikis out there, there's a whole aromantic tag on tumblr. are lgbt+ wikis always the best source of information? no. but it took me two seconds to google 'aromantic' and get a page for 'aromantic' and the' aromantic spectrum' and both tell you everything in much simpler and better terms than i could.

i guess that this is coming from a place of ignorance/not being knowledgable and not maliciousness. but someone being aromantic doesn't mean they can't have a partner or close relationships or love people. there's more than one way to love someone. you can easily go and find out more about aromanticism yourself and i'm not qualified nor want to be someone who's answering asks about what a sexuality or gender label means. you could have just googled aromantic rather than come to my ask box and wait hours for an answer and i think you'd get a better answer that way.

After many years, guess who decided to try their hand at bookbinding again?

That's right, me! And of course I chose I giant of a fic, because I am nothing if not ambitious XD. I think it's 3 inches or more thick, and came to a whopping 1088 pages! The fic is Count Your Blessings by @madmothmadame , a Founders Era Tobirama centric fic and I cannot recommend it enough <3 <3 <3

My cover fabric and end paper are pretty simple, one part because I thought it suited the story, one part because I had them on hand, and one part because I'm a raw beginner and that's about as good as I could manage XD

It took a lot of waffling on my part (graphic design is NOT a great skill of mine) but overall I ended up really happy with how the title page came out - if I had the artistic skill to paint/draw it or the supplies to transfer it, this would have gone on the cover as well. Alas, for now it shall remain inside only.

A little detail that gave me some grief, as I waffled on font style and size a bit, but ultimately I'm really pleased with it - I used a plum blossom branch as the scene break throughout the book. If you've read the fic, you probably know why I picked that particular image for this and the title page ;)

I realized after printing that some of my paper had gotten a bit aged, even though it was stored in the printer. I wasn't about to waste the paper, ink and time for a reprint though, so I left it. Since the book is for me, little things like that are no bother. I was just glad I didn't fuck up in the printing or signature sewing order X'D

I included the authors notes from the end of each chapter as a bonus section at the end, so they'd be preserved with the story but not breaking up the flow of reading the book ^_^

Final view, this time from the spine - think I left the gap a little to wide between the cover boards and spine but eh, again this is just for me and only my third binding ever (and certainly the largest! XD) so I'm still really pleased overall.

A very fun experience, and I'm looking forward to my next re-read of the story, where I'll be doing it with my very own chonky boi version held in my hands :3

...Cora is a genuinely lovely person. But as casual as they have set out to keep things, it's seeming like she might be investing more of herself into this than Dawson realized. And Dawson is maybe feeling a teeny bit more into things with someone else?

(And besides, helping out with sourcing medicinal plants and books about herbalism doesn't just automatically get you a 50% stake in profits. Where'd she get that idea?)
