It has come to my attention that the results of the poll about Jewish queers are shockingly bad, (I haven't seen the results since I don't vote on my own polls but the comments/reblogs give away that the result is anything but good), so once I see the results, I'm planning on making a few posts on Jewish queers or Jews in general cause antisemitism is wrong on so many levels and y'all deserve love after everything that has happened to you and other Jewish people in the past. I hope that's alright if I do that. If you have any suggestions on what you want to see in those posts, let me know

I have an interesting question: what would a non-binary Jewish 13 year old celebrate: A bar or bat mitzvah? Would it be personal choice, or aligned with their birth gender, or default to one or the other, or something else entirely? I’m very curious

The Trans Halakha Project seeks to curate existing and developing resources that have been created for trans Jews, by trans Jews and engage trans & non-binary people in the creation of specific rituals and blessings. This work is expressed below in Tefillat Trans: Blessings and Rituals for Trans Lives.

We need to stop talking about how conservatives don't want their kids to know LGBTQ people exist. They do want their kids to know we exist, but we will suffer for it.
They don't want their kids to know that it is okay and acceptable to be LGBTQ, that society will allow them to exist in peace and happiness. That at times LGBTQ people will be accepted.
They want their kids to know that LGBTQ is not okay or acceptable. That if they are LGBTQ they will be persecuted, marginalized, beaten, and scorned. That if they are they will have a terrible life, so they better g-ddamn be the good little cishet Christian soldier that Mommy and Daddy wanted.
They aren't actually scared that a couple rainbow displays will turn their kids gay or an affirming book will forcibly transition them. They're scared that their already LGBTQ kid will know that them being themselves is a just as valid life and not a one way ticket to misery and then hell.
They want to not just eradicate LGBTQ from existence, they want to have everyone else watch us suffer as a warning to stay in line.
Or maybe that's just LGBTQ survivor of an entire childhood and adolescence under an extreme abusive homophobe of a parent in me, idk why listen to me on this stuff.

I’m having a lot of weird gender feelings. Like. I’m AFAB. But I’m not a woman. I’m non-binary. That’s simple.
But like. I’m also a *Jewish* woman. Which feels like a whole different gender experience than just “woman”. And I don’t know if that makes any sense?
Like when I wear a tichel, or a kippah, or even my tallit, I feel more connected to the idea of womanhood but from a specifically Jewish lens. Does this make ANY sense at all? Like I’m not a woman. But I AM a Jewish woman.

Saw this and immediately thought of your wholesome Superman rework. 🏳️‍⚧️
aaah I'm put in an awkward place when folks send other people's fanart and I...don't like it 😅 like traditionally it's fandom etiquette to just scroll away when you see fanon/fanart you don't like, but when I'm put on the spot like this and have my work directly compared to it...welp.
While it's nice to see more recognition to possible queer readings of marginalized supers, I'm wary of how mainstream queerness has been used to pinkwash adaptations of the more racialized aspects of the character in question. Superman is an allegorical analog for a white-passing Jewish immigrant, but in MAWS those themes are universalized to being just "different". There's a whole episode where Clark's marginalization is likened to that of a gay couple, and how he's forced out of the closet because having boundaries and privacy hurts his friends' feelings. Never once in the show is he likened to immigrants or people of color who experience xenophobia.
I haven't watched X-Men '97, but I do find it troubling that Sunspot- whose very origin involves him experiencing anti-Black violence- has his marginalization likened to just queer struggles. A non-Black actor has yet again been casted to portray him. Just another example of how Sunspot in particular has been gradually getting whitewashed in new takes. It's just with queerness now too.
I think this is why it kind of gets to me when people read my "wholesome" Superman-comic-about-losing-parts-of-yourself-to-xenophobia as a trans allegory. It's like whitewashing via pink kryptonite.

Thinking about how many Jewish graves are desecrated and damaged constantly and knowing that could very well happen to my grave and the graves of my family. Why can’t you just leave us alone, even after we’re gone

the more i think about it the more i feel transunity is vital. i dont mean this hatefully and theres no way to say this that wont be misconstrued by someone but. i feel like so much trans activism has been focused on aligning trans women with other women in feminism (itself not a bad goal) but that as the end all be all of trans activism intrinsically hurts other trans people. so much baeddel rhetoric relies on "there is no trans community/trans people it should only be about trans women" and i think its extremely extremely important to talk about transness as its own class, and fully embrace how trans liberationism must involve completely deconstructing cis-centric analysis of gender/the patriarchy to include the full extent of trans oppression. the idea that transphobia is fundamentally and exclusively based in misogyny & is ultimately a part of women's oppression is just fitting transness into the cis-centric binary system we've always had. transphobia has to be seen as its own thing and transness as its own class, for the better of all trans people and especially transmascs & transneutrals who are otherwise forced to choose between misgendering/detransition or being left out of class analysis/treated as oppressors even while being oppressed. transness is not just a subsect of womanhood it has to be seen as its own thing. transunity or death

Blessing for Trans Intimacy
As you touch your lips say the following blessing:
ברוכֶה אתה יי אלהימותינו רוח העולמים אשר יצרה את האדם בחכמה ובראה בנו נקבים נקבים חלולים חלולים
Transliteration:
B’ruche ateh ‘’, elohimoteinu, ruach ha’olameem
Asher yatzreh et ha-adam b'chochmah
Uvare'eh vanu n’kavim n’kavim chalulim chalulim
Translation:
Praise the Source of Life, Life of Many Worlds, who creates our bodies with Wisdom, creating holes and hollows.
Blessed is the One
For letting me see the holiness in others
The sacredness of scars on a chest
The holiness of one who has learned to love themselves
Who renew their creation
The mitzvah of my lips on their body
Gloriously exploring each other
For seeing each other is like seeing the face of G’d
