(Not so) Hot Take
if the only jews you listen to are ones who give you a get-out-of-antisemitism-free card for either…
1. Hating 90% of Jews
2. Calling for the death/displacement of 50% of jews
3. Calling for the destruction of the only jewish state on earth, which is located in the jewish homeland?
…you don't actually "listen to jews.”
Stop acting like you do.

Over the past two months, where I live in Australia, several synagogues were graffitied, including the synagogue my father and grandparents attended in Sydney, and one synagogue was Firebombed in the city I live in. That synagogue was a haredi place with no connections to Israel too.
Last year, a Jewish community centre was graffitied, Jewish schools had bomb threats, and several other things happened here.
And the labor governments envoy on antisemitism even urged the government to take more action. Have they? No. They have bragged about how they were the first government in Australia to do this, yet they haven’t actually done anything.
It pains me to say this, because of how much I supported them throughout my life and specifically last election, but I will not be supporting labor or any leftist parties this election.

It has come to my attention that the results of the poll about Jewish queers are shockingly bad, (I haven't seen the results since I don't vote on my own polls but the comments/reblogs give away that the result is anything but good), so once I see the results, I'm planning on making a few posts on Jewish queers or Jews in general cause antisemitism is wrong on so many levels and y'all deserve love after everything that has happened to you and other Jewish people in the past. I hope that's alright if I do that. If you have any suggestions on what you want to see in those posts, let me know

Hamas is a heinous, murderous, vile terrorist group that’s intent on killing Jews.
But you can’t say they haven’t been honest about their intentions. Their manifesto, the interviews they’ve given, and the way they try to brainwash children through schools and media content have all been quite blatant in showing their modus operandi.
However, despite their very brutal honesty, why do Hamas-sympathisers try so hard to make Hamas look like good guys by defending literal crimes in the most insane ways?
It’s worrying and also shocking as these hypocrisies are such common sentiments coming from college campuses, which were once institutions that honed critical thinking.
Do they think that “kill all Jews” is a code phrase for “we want our territory back”? How do you possibly interpret open calls for the annihilation of Jews in any other way than what it is?
Do they not think that kidnapping women, raping and torturing them, and parading their naked, mutilated bodies around town to sexually humiliate them while men cheer is sexual violence against women? Isn’t this a feminist issue, part of the MeToo movement?
“Think about the children!” Yes, but when babies are beheaded and burned, when 4 year olds are kidnapped and orphaned, is claiming that these are AI-generated images and ripping down the posters of the hostages thinking of the children?
They cry out about war crimes but ignore that raping women and taking hostages are literally war crimes.
They scream to boycott companies for their ties to Israel using devices with technology designed in Israel. Will they give up their life’s pleasures because of their ties to Israel? My money is on no, because it’ll affect them personally and heaven forbid they take up activism that actually would inconvenience them in the slightest.
They claim to be experts in geopolitics after watching one TikTok video and claim that this is about territory and not antisemitism while also saying that Israelis can just “go back to whichever other country they also have citizenship in”. While turning a blind eye to the multiple antisemitic attacks around the world, and calling Israelis “white colonisers”.
They also claim to be champions of mental health awareness, experts in the psychological mechanisms of mental illnesses and take cautions to avoid triggers and micro-aggressions so as to not offend those who have psychological conditions. “We should let those who actually have these conditions speak up about their experiences!!”
But then when it comes to actual psychologically stressing situations like being kidnapped and taken hostage, they suddenly can speak for the hostages and know exactly what went on based on the most vacuous, flimsy evidence? “Oh she’s in love with her captor, she’s smiling at him! They’re smiling and waving, they must have been treated nicely by Hamas!”
How do they sleep at night with these competing ideologies in their heads? What do they achieve by making all these seem like the actions of good people?
They’re like Hamas’ PR team and defence attorneys rolled into one.
No matter what crime Hamas commits, they’ll come up with justifications and make it look like some kind of beneficent act of humanitarianism.
It’s so exhausting trying to reason with people who don’t see reason.

Can we all just give a round of applause to all the Jewish lawyers and lawyer adjacent types who donate their time and expertise to argue discrimination cases? Especially as a Jewish college student, it means a lot that there are Jewish professionals out there who are looking out for us.

Do not allow yourselves to stoop to the level of antisemitism. This harms not only Jewish people, but Palestinians as well. The atrocities committed by the State of Israel are not attributable to all Jewish people. Likewise, violence committed by the religious extremists in Hamas does not reflect on every Palestinian Muslim.
Judaism is not the problem. The problem is the Israeli settler colonialist project, of which not every Jew supports. Zionist Jews are opposed by both secular and religious Jews in Israel and abroad for many reasons. The conflation between Zionism and Judaism only serves the interests of right-wing extremists on either side of the conflict. Do not allow far-right Zionists and antisemites to conflate Zionism with Judaism. Antisemitism is inexcusable.
Antisemitism reinforces Zionist rhetoric, inciting further hatred and violence against the Palestinian people. Oppose racism and bigotry of any kind. Reject antisemitism. Stand against apartheid. Reject Islamophobia. Stand with the oppressed people of Palestine. 🇵🇸

Finally someone writes an honest article. Thank you. Because the only "genocide" that took place was perpetrated by:
Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Popular Resistance Committees, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade (Fatah's military wing), Palestinian Freedom Movement and Palestinian Mujahedeen Movement, (Let's admit the word ANTISEMITISM is convenienty now missing from Wikipedia pages about these TERRORISTS; in fact Wikipedia seems to be being constantly edited by antisemites.)
-against the general Israeli population, on October 7th.
My head is hurting. It's a little relief to finally read an article by a journalist who isn't full of hatred against Israel, who is unafraid to challenge the grotesque narrative which blames Jews for antisemitism, and Israel for all the world's problems.

correct me if i’m wrong but doesn’t israel pervert and hide behind the jewish faith in order to commit atrocities?
i’m not a religious person so i can’t be sure but it’s just a feeling i get. again, correct me if i’m wrong.
when my mom found out that i support palestine, she said “well my jewish friend is scared” and i got very confused. what does the genocide of the palestinians have to do with all jewish people? i understand that antisemitism is a problem but it feels separate from this genocide. antisemitism and islamophobia are both equally dangerous. anyway, not all jews are israeli. a great number of jews actually condemn what israel is doing.
it seems unlikely to me that hating and killing palestinians is a pillar of the jewish faith. but correct me if i’m wrong.
EDIT: including these articles before any zionists attack me again. maybe i’m not the best judge of whether or not israel is abusing the jewish faith but i do know they’re committing genocide. and i know that genocide is bad. that’s enough for me.

I love how every pro-pals argument when they're proven wrong is "I'm not arguing with a zionist, go kill yourself."
It's like these people never learned to have a normal, civil conversation without telling people to kill themselves...

Anytime! Thank you for your kind words, and please let me know if I can help in any way even if it’s only lending an ear/shoulder to talk to. I see what’s happening to the Jewish community/people and I am horrified.

“I would’ve hidden Jewish families in my house during the Holocaust!”
Where are these same people now? Celebrating and justifying the antisemitic attacks going on around the world.
I’ve seen people try to defend the recent Amsterdam pogrom with “oh, well, it’s understandable what the attackers doing because technically they’re not targeting Jews, they’re targeting Zionist fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv.”
And that makes it okay?
1. Did you see the assailants ask and ID every single person they attacked?
2. So if they really only meant to target Zionists and violently assault them, you suddenly “get it” because physically attacking someone for their political beliefs is acceptable?
I legitimately came across someone who commented “this isn’t terrorism, it’s just some group attacking another group that deserves it because they politically disagree.”
Last I checked, that’s the fucking definition of terrorism.
The downplaying, acceptance, and celebration of antisemitism shows us that you wouldn’t have hidden us. You’d have sold us out with a smile.

What if I told you that the antidote to Islamophobia isn't Antisemitism?
CW for this post (you have seen the title.) I feel like this shouldn't need explaining, but merciful Brigid, some of the shit I have seen. It's time for Led Tasso to come out. I'm not Jewish, let's just get that out of the way first, but my position on Palestine is largely informed by Jewish people who have been protesting for decades about the horrific treatment of Palestinians being done by a settler colonial state appropriating their religion, culture, language, and trauma. Fascist governments weaponizing fear and hiding behind religion is a well known tactic, and the fact that so many people have put this readily available information from their minds, specifically in this conversation, speaks to how incredibly pernicious antisemitism really is. I'm treading lightly here because as someone who's not Jewish, it really isn't my place to explain the cultural complexities, trauma, or general experiences of Jewish people. But if you haven't seen those discussions crossing your feed, you should be looking inward and asking why. Because if you're not invested in Jewish voices right now (or in general), that's a red flag for the kind of rhetoric you've internalized and the struggles you take seriously. The position I can speak from, however, is one of being committed to challenging all forms of systemic violence and oppression. So from that stance, and I cannot stress this enough: If you are fighting for some at cost to others, you are reinforcing oppression. It is wild to me that "Nazi" has come to mean "The worst thing a person can be" without recognition of the fact that the ideology is inherently antisemitic, that this is its centrepiece, that Jews are the number one target. This separation is, once again, an example of how insidious this brand of hatred really is--blatant erasure of the way Jewish people are uniquely targeted. I know a lot of trans people follow me, so here's a fun fact: You know the "Doctors are transing our kids to damage fertility rates!" conspiracy? You can thank antisemitism for that, too! It's literally just a rebrand of the Great Replacement conspiracy, which is modernized "protection of Aryan bloodlines." The most recent chapter of "My Life as A Bigot" by Joanne Klan Rowling isn't just another gleeful display of her hatred of trans people, it's another addition to the laundry list of antisemitic beliefs and talking points she's been peddling for years. The Charlottesville "unite the right" Nazi rally was spurred on by the removal of confederate statues and anti-Black racism. What is it they were chanting, again? Anyone remember? Any of this ringing a bell? OH RIGHT. "Jews will not replace us." So many other forms of systemic violence are steeped in the poisonous rhetoric of antisemitism. Acting like this isn't the case damns our Jewish siblings who need us while weakening our understanding of the oppressive forces we're fighting. "One struggle" includes all of us. The fact that the Likud government uses accusations of antisemitism as a cover for their violence should make you more diligent about condemning antisemitism, not less. Because letting them weaponize something that is already so widespread and destructive makes it that much harder to dismantle.
Do not stop talking about Palestine. Do not stop speaking up against the horrors of settler colonial violence. But if you can't do this without throwing another group of oppressed people under the bus, you need to question where you learned your resistance tactics, because the company you're keeping there should disgust and terrify you.
