I’ve been trying to think of how to word this for a couple days now because I didn’t want this to seem insincere or callous or anything like that, and I wondered if I should say anything at all at the risk of sounding patronizing, but I’ve decided to post this with the hopes that my good faith will be felt and hopefully offer some relief to someone in this difficult time.
I want to say to my Jewish brothers and sisters and family during this time who do not support this genocide, who do not support this careless violence, who do not wish for any of these atrocities to be happening, that I love you and I’m sorry for this difficult time with Palestine.
I’m sorry that your faith, your culture, your people are being used in a way that you do not agree with and that will only do more damage than good, and is not even for just reasonings. I’m sorry that this conflict will make antisemitism rise even more during an already scary time and you have little control over how people will perceive you and your people once again.
I’m sorry that you will be misunderstood, attacked, harmed, fearful, grief-struck, likely traumatized, and more because people will always want an excuse to hate Jewish people and this is just the next “reason” they’ll use, many of them not actually caring about any of the people involved in this in the first place, wanting anything they can to fuel their awful hate.
I’m sorry that the people you may have once looked up to have disappointed you and you must wrestle with this grieve while also still loving them.
I’m sorry that so many people will do their best to misunderstand you, will write you off before a word even leaves your mouth. Will leave you to fend for yourself when you are also struggling.
I said this for people who directly oppose this genocide, but my heart is also open to those that are just confused and hurt. I will not massage any feelings of violence you may feel but I sympathize with your anger for what you and your family have experienced on your side of things and I hope you will come to realize what is truly right at the end of the day and be met with open arms when you try to do the right thing.
I truly hope this doesn’t sound condescending but I wanted to extend some love and grace to the many Jewish people who are unfortunately once again getting involved in a mess they wanted nothing to be apart of, especially since I know so many people will not do the same and will actively do the opposite. Even if you are pro-Palestine I know you and your family will still experience harm for just being who you are and it’s not right and has never been right and it will never be right. You also deserve grace and love during this this.
If anyone, Jewish, Muslim, Palestinian, unrelated but have a lot of feelings, if anyone needs somewhere to vent their feelings my inbox is open. We must support each other during these difficult times and i will help anyway I can. I cant promise I’ll be able to do much or be the most useful but my door is open

In case people missed it, here’s what’s been happening in my city of Melbourne, Australia this weekend.
A TERF rally had literal Nazis turn up, escorted by police up the stairs of Victorian Parliament. Salutes and all. The state of Victoria banned the use of swastika images in recent years however even without the symbol on display there was no question about what these people are. The government is now discussing banning the salute as well, however the legislation won’t be passed for months and clearly the problem already runs deeper than making laws against imagery will be able to protect. Victoria Police is irreversibly corrupted, and so are the people who showed up in support of this rally.
I’m beyond disgusted. Australia is rife with shit like this. ACAB. Fuck Nazis. Protect trans people. Protect Jewish people. Protect every fucking person these disgusting pieces of trash want to harm.

When my dad came out in the 90's with having bi-polar, the only family who invited us to things, who spent time with us and reached out was a Jewish family. Everyone else thought you could "Catch" depression (or Mania as we called it back then). For long time my family only had one other family friend. I will always stand up for the Jewish community. They were there when the world turned it's back on my dad, and subsequently my mom and us. They treated us like family when our own extended family refused to see us or help us.
hey friendly reminder cause it's always good to remember to support jewish people, protect jewish people, call out antisemitism wherever and whenever you see it, encourage jewish voices, and stand up for the jewish community

seven years ago in the name of tolerating free speech from all political perspectives my nasty ass evil university let an army of tiki torch wielding nazis shouting jews will not replace us march through grounds threatening the lives of students and community members with zero police presence. and today they retroactively changed campus policy around tents so they could send in the cops to bust up the gaza memorial vigil. genuinely fucking stomach turning

As bad as US racism is, at least we acknowledge and talk about it and try to improve as a society. So many terminally online holier than thou dipshits from Europe, Canada, Australia, etc, meanwhile refuse to believe they've got a problem at all because they like to think it's either all in the past or they just think ignoring it makes it go away.
"europeans are soooo much more enlightened and anti-racist than americans" haha sooo true, quick question, how do you feel about romani people?

I won't be able to finish this drawing before the convention, which will take up my next 5 days.. But I want to talk a little about him.. I've been thinking about golems and Frankenstein, and the trans body, projection and misunderstanding, villainization and death.
The concepts of Frankenstein's monster and the golem have been swimming in my head for a while, and their lore intertwining.. The tragedy of existing being seen as a monster no matter how you try,.. And the Golem, a protector of his people and a servant whose only flaw always rang a bit close to home as an an autistic person-- being too literal in execution of his orders. He's tired and struggles with a yearning for death. His havdalah candles will be out.. The first flame of the week, a spark of starting over again-- The flame brings him fear. As much as he's kept himself together he doesn't know how much longer he can keep doing it, he fears failure- but the fear of what may happen if he's gone is even more terrifying. He's lived a long life, and over time the one who formed him has sculpted him to the golem's own wishes.. From nothing to the man he is- but even with that effort, to outsiders he's still a monster. His skin is different shades of clays from varying riverbeds as his people have travelled.. Golems are unformed, imperfect.. but even as outsides can be polished the insides can still be broken

I guess this might be why the UK seemed to go so antisemitic so quickly
I'm researching the 1947 pogroms in the UK. (Actually, I'm researching all the pogroms and massacres of Jews in the past 200 years. Which today led me to discover that there were pogroms in the UK in 1947.)
From an article on "The Postwar Revival of British Fascism," all emphasis mine:
Given the rising antisemitism and widespread ignorance about Zionism [in the UK in 1947], fascists were easily able to conflate Zionist paramilitary attacks with Judaism in their speeches, meaning British Jews came to be seen as complicit in violence in Palestine.
Bertrand Duke Pile, a key member of Hamm’s League, informed a cheering crowd that “the Jews have no right to Palestine and the Jews have no right to the power which they hold in this country of ours.” Denouncing Zionism as a way to introduce a wider domestic antisemitic stance was common to many speakers at fascist events and rallies. Fascists hid their ideology and ideological antisemitism behind the rhetorical facade of preaching against paramilitary violence in Palestine.
One of the league’s speakers called for retribution against “the Jews” for the death of British soldiers in Palestine. This was, he told his audience, hardly an antisemitic expression. “Is it antisemitism to denounce the murderers of your own flesh and blood in Palestine?” he asked his audience. Many audience members, fascist or not, may well have felt the speaker had a point. ...[The photo of two British sergeants hanged by the Irgun in retaliation for the Brits hanging three of their members] promptly made numerous appearances at fascist meetings, often attached to the speaker’s platform. In at least one meeting, several British soldiers on leave from serving in Palestine attended Hamm’s speech, giving further legitimacy to his remarks. And with soldiers and policemen in Palestine showing increasing signs of overt antisemitism as a result of their experiences, the director of public prosecutions warned that the fascists might receive a steady stream of new recruits.
MI5, the U.K. domestic security service, noted with some alarm that “as a general rule, the crowd is now sympathetic and even spontaneously enthusiastic.” Opposition, it was noted in the same Home Office Bulletin of 1947, “is only met when there is an organized group of Jews or Communists in the audience.”
The major opposition came from the 43 Group, formed by the British-Jewish ex-paratrooper Gerry Flamberg and his friends in September 1946 to fight the fascists using the only language they felt fascists understood — violence. The group disrupted fascist meetings for two purposes: to get them shut down by the police for disorder, and to discourage attendance in the future by doling out beatings with fists and blunt instruments. By the summer of 1947, the group had around 500 active members who took part in such activities. Among these was a young hairdresser by the name of Vidal Sassoon, who would often turn up armed with his hairdressing scissors.
The 43 Group had considerable success with these actions, but public anger was spreading faster than they could counter the hate that accompanied it. The deaths of Martin and Paice had touched a nerve with the populace. On Aug. 1, 1947, the beginning of the bank holiday weekend and two days after the deaths of the sergeants, anti-Jewish rioting began in Liverpool. The violence lasted for five days. Across the country, the scene was repeated: London, Manchester, Hull, Brighton and Glasgow all saw widespread violence. Isolated instances were also recorded in Plymouth, Birmingham, Cardiff, Swansea, Newcastle and Davenport. Elsewhere, antisemitic graffiti and threatening phone calls to Jewish places of worship stood in for physical violence. Jewish-owned shops had their windows smashed, Jewish homes were targeted, an attempt was made to burn down Liverpool Crown Street Synagogue while a wooden synagogue in Glasgow was set alight. In a handful of cases, individuals were personally intimidated or assaulted. A Jewish man was threatened with a pistol in Northampton and an empty mine was placed in a Jewish-owned tailor shop in Davenport.
And an important addendum:
I've read a whole bunch of articles about the pogroms in Liverpool, Manchester, Salford, Eccles, Glasgow, etc.
Not one of them has mentioned that the Irgun, though clearly a terrorist group, was formed in response to 18 years of openly antisemitic terrorism, including multiple incredibly violent massacres. Or that it consistently acted in response to the murders of Jewish civilians, not on the offensive. Or that at this point, militant Arab Nationalist groups with volunteers and arms from the Arab League countries had been attacking Jewish and mixed Arab-Jewish neighborhoods for months.
I just think the "Jewish militants had been attacking the British occupiers" angle is incredibly Anglocentric.
Yeah, they were attacking the British occupiers. But also, that's barely the tip of the iceberg.
Everyone involved hated the Brits at this point. If only al-Husseini and his ilk had hated the Brits more than they hated the Jews, Britain could at least have united them by giving them a common enemy.

As a Trans masc I will say this. If I or my Trans umbrella or gay umbrella or jewish or BLM adjacent friends feel unsafe while out because someone is trying to harm us I will fight the person making us feel unsafe.
Im not afraid to catch a charge if someone is gonna be a jerk and try to hurt people. Equal rights equal fights, no fucks given.
I will also be going out on 4/24 and walking people who dont feel safe home or to where they are headed, the people that want to celebrate that day (if it's not their birthday) are sick fucks. (It socks cause it's my sister's birthday, we have her birthday celebration the day after for her safety)

I don’t want to ‘piss off a terf’, I want to make sure other trans people in my life are safe

some images from the cave homes of gharyan, libya. communities of jews who made their homes in underground caves have been known in the maghreb since before the 1st century. when spain invaded tripoli in 1510, tripolian jews, both toshavim and sephardic, fled to gharyan and dug out cave homes for themselves. the houses today are occupied by non-jewish libyans or rented out to tourists.

A reminder that the MfJ project is not time limited.
FIGHT AGAINST ANTISEMITISM. DON'T IGNORE IT.
REBLOG FOR MORE AWARENESS.
Tumblr media
The Antisemitism out and within the marauders fandom has been raising, so we opened this project as a reminder that there are jews in this fandom that has a hard time. We want to show our support for the jews in this fandom who feel like their voice hasn't been heard, like they're alone in this world with no one to listen. We hear you. You are not alone.
How it works:
Artists, writers, and other content creators will provide works and content that includes well-represented jewish characters with the intention to spread awareness about jewishness, judaism & antisemitism. Those who want to participate in the project can be jews or non-jews, but we would love to see as much jews as we can, so we could here THEIR voice.
For more instructions & more information:
DM @rmoony12 (ig)
MfJ collection with instructions - for writers on Ao3
If you don't have a platform and just enjoy the fandom, PLS reblog this.

Hey, to all folkskxkxkx recommending his work, please be aware that Norman Finkelstein is a highly controversial scholar, who argues that antisemitism does not affect Jews in the west and especially in the US and that Jewish people invented the cultural image of the Holocaust in order to pretend to be victims so that we can exploit and parasitize gentile industries and resources. 👍 Which is pretty much straight out of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Not going to suggest there's nothing of interest or value in his work, just to say to please be mindful of how you approach it. Here's some quotes from his book, The Holocaust Industry, with some emphasis added.
For organized American Jewry, this contrived hysteria over a new anti-Semitism served multiple purposes. It boosted Israel's stock as the refuge of last resort if and when American Jews needed one. Moreover, the fund-raising appeals of Jewish organizations purportedly combating anti-Semitism fell on more receptive ears.
And:
Beyond this, however, the Holocaust framework apprehended anti-Semitism as a strictly irrational Gentile loathing of Jews. It precluded the possibility that animus toward Jews might be grounded in a real conflict of interests (more on this later). Invoking The Holocaust was therefore a ploy to delegitimize all criticism of Jews: such criticism could only spring from pathological hatred.
Referring to fear of antisemitism as "contrived hysteria," arguing that fears of antisemitism were cynically contrived to appropriate money, that antisemitism has "real" basis, etc... So, yeah. Be mindful that these are his philosophical underpinnings and be careful about what you extract from his work.
