People seriously underestimate the long term effects of constant loneliness
"why are you so weird?" Idk, maybe because being completely isolated while growing up has destroyed my brain and now I'm nothing more than a human-mimicking creature that bases all of my actions on what I think is normal human behavior rather than just doing things naturally

this is by design. this is why they tortured and tormented him and forced him to film this video - dictated to him by a fellow Israeli hostage who spoke Arabic, who they later murdered (Yoram Metzger z”l).
it’s the same reason they force the hostages to write thank you notes and have paraded them across stages with “gift” bags commemorating their captivity.
while I appreciate Yashar calling this out, let’s be honest now - they are not idiots, they are not uninformed. they are filled with unabashed hatred and revel in the slaughter of Jews.
the people online cynically exploiting this sick propaganda don’t actually believe that it’s reality. they know what it is. they know those children were murdered. they just don’t care, and have sacrificed their morality to ceaselessly defend men who strangle babies with their bare hands.
do not let them do this to Yarden. he has suffered too much. do not let Ariel’s and Kfir’s memories be desecrated in this way.

A lot of leftist accounts are suspiciously quiet on the section 504 lawsuit, proposed medicaid cuts, and the "make America healthy again" executive order.
I know other leftists are not the enemy but if we don't have able bodied allies and general population support, there's no hope of pushing back against these ableist policies. These big accounts ignoring a massive minority at risk is scary. The current admin is the problem but there's no hope of a solution without allyship.
We need visibility. We need allies.

Hi if you ever find yourself in a relationship saying anything along the lines of "well I can't leave cause I would never be able to find something better than this because I'm trans/fat/aging/antisocial/unlucky" I beg of you to run. Please. You can find and build better but in order to do that you have to take the first step out the door. You do not have to endure abuse, mistreatment, or just plain incompatibility for the sake of a fraction of happiness. You don't.

My new Congresswoman had her first virtual town hall (over 9500 people joined the call), along with our Attorney General (both Democrats). They confirmed the Democrats are hearing a lot of complaints about the South African, and they're also hearing from a bunch of people about the immigration crackdowns.
They emphasized that the last time Trump was in office, they had over an 80% success rate in court with him.
Confirmed that Trump's anti-trans laws are in conflict with states with laws that force insurance to cover trans healthcare. OR/WA/MN are the states leading the charges in the courts and they feel pretty confident they will win.
Brought up how the Congressional Dems tried to bring up the Stop Musk Act, the Saving Civil Service Act; and the Veterans Affairs Committee is pushing back hard against the firings. Democrats are trying to get a formal hearing on DOGE, and said if the Republicans don't cooperate, they'll try to hold their own hearing.
Confirmed the courts have been agreeing that Elon and Trump have exceeded their authority with unlawfully cutting spending.
They encourage federal workers who have been fired or are in danger to whistleblow to the Democrats so they can help them sue. They recognize the fear of people worried about retaliation but emphasized the Democrats cannot help if people do not come forward.
AG said that certain states have more power to fight in the courts than others depending on how much Trump's EOs affect their individual states. So states with more federal workers (VA/MD/etc) are the ones who are holding the microphones, with other states that don't have as many federal workers backing them up.
People in the town hall overwhelmingly said "protecting democracy" is the most important issue.
Emphasized that Congress has the power of the purse and no funds have been approved in Congress to detain immigrants at Gitmo. Our state Democrats are not deputizing local authority to work with ICE and will not work with the Trump with anything that violates sanctuary state laws.
Said massive numbers of people were calling in when Elon and DOGE were messing around with our security data.
Democrats are overwhelmingly hearing from constituents to be bold (altho they're also hearing people demand they do things they can't, like arrest Elon). They emphasize that the definition of "bold" depends on the district you're in; deep blue district Democrats can be bolder than purple or especially red district Democrats, so be understanding that not every Democrat can get away with what deep blue Dems can.
Admitted sometimes Democrats hold back too long because they want to know what the "right thing" to say is before they respond to something, but they said that the Dems are working on a rapid response team to get over this hurdle.
Their messages going forward will be short, simple, and basically at an Eighth Grade reading level.
Emphasized they are not going to help the Republicans with budget votes without concessions.
Emphasized Democrats are even more unified now than the first Trump admin, which will make them more efficient.
Emphasized that Republicans control both chambers. Democrats will do what they can, but there's only so much they can as the minority party. Putting pressure on Republicans - especially on bipartisan issues like FEMA - will help more than dragging Dems.
Said the most effective thing individual people can do is be active and loud at all levels of government (they confirmed it's having an impact; it helps that Dems can say "Over 2,000 constituents told me to take a stand against Elon"). Make sure people know their rights.
State laws exist independent of the Trump admin. Get involved in contacting your local and state governments.

honestly the concept of sending a body of an unknown palestinian woman is sickening by itself. like who is this woman? did they even know who she was? did they know her name? why was she not buried properly instead of being sacrificed to torture israel? does her family know she’s dead? do they know that she was literally shipped to israel like a piece of meat as a sick psychological torture game? is her family looking for her? did she have babies like shiri did? this is all so dystopian, i’m almost finding it hard to believe it’s happening irl and not on an episode of black mirror.

If safety in your ideal society is entirely based on care by networks of affinity, and does not provide care for people who are not liked by anybody, then your society is actually even worse than the situation we are in now.
Pissing off people close to you or over-exhausting your social network or isolating yourself is often an inherent part of many mental health problems, addictions, etc. By the time people need care the most, they have often lost all their networks of affinity, and with some bad luck, any of us could find ourselves in that situation.
There has to be unconditional care available for the more unlikable of us, or there isn't really a safety net for any of us.

The act of promising to send back a person's corpse and then switching it out with an unidentified person as an act of psychological torture is something I've only seen from my worst cases as a forensic scientist.
I've seen it from organized crime outfits, typically Russian mob and cartels, and from serial killers. This reminds me more of the latter rather than the former as the outfits tend to behave in a certain manner and abide by various rules. Serial killers, however, often delight in the psychological torture of their victims, victims' family, and community.
There's a number of cases I've been brought in on to help ID corpses that were not who the killer said they were. Causing pain and anguish for the families and community to their delight.
In this instance, making a big show of returning these hostages and then pulling the rug out from underneath Israel and the greater Jewish community only serves one purpose; to cause psychological and emotional harm. And make no mistake, the people justifying Hamas and their actions up until this moment and beyond are acting like every True Crime Serial Killer Girlie that has come up to me in my career to try and justify the actions of people like Dahmer, Gacy, Gein, and so on. "They're just misunderstood." "What did you think they would do? They had a rough life. It's not their fault they did these things." "They're just fighting back against the system that made them this way." All of this is to take the onus of responsibility off of the serial killer, just as all these anti-Israel activists take the onus off of Hamas and its violent terrorism. And just like a True Crime Girlie coming up to me with their binder full of notes about why their serial killer blorbo is good, your opinion that Hamas is somehow justified in their action is worth nothing. You've presented yourself as lacking the moral and ethical stand point that condemns such actions as taking families hostage, promising to return them, and then pulling a "switcheroo" last minute to be cruel. You're not good people, and no amount of mental gymnastics to somehow blame Israel for this will make you a good person. And if somehow you're a fellow Jew? Well, I think you've burned every bridge with the community as of this moment.

the news from last night really went under the radar in the jumblr tag, but i want to emphasis that hamas wanted us to start the morning with the absence of shiri's body, then have at least 5 buses explode at 9 and 10 am with bombs planted by hamas' tulkarem brigade (from the west bank), which probably would've killed dozens of people.
those buses exploded empty, in their parking lots, last night, by complete fucking luck, because the timers were set to 9-10pm instead of am. (to be precise, 3 exploded and burnt completely, and 2 were found parked with bombs in them.)

Jewish pediatricians have faced antisemitic abuse in private online forums for AAP members starting soon after the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, and they have been alarmed to see colleagues take to those online communities — which are meant to be used for discussion of medical issues — to share sharply anti-Israel messages. More than that, Jewish pediatricians are left wondering why the leaders of the AAP, a beloved organization to many that has been critical for their professional advancement, are at best sluggish and at worst derelict in responding to their growing worries about bias in the medical community.
“They appear to be taking a different approach to issues that involve Jews and Israel than they do in other areas,” Dr. Daniel Rauch, a pediatrician and professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine in New Jersey, said of the AAP, an organization with which he has been involved for decades. “To be so blind in this area is frightening and speaks to structural antisemitism.”
It isn’t so easy for Jewish pediatricians concerned about antisemitism within the AAP to simply leave the Academy. While being a fellow of the Academy, or FAAP — a distinction that many pediatricians list in their official titles, alongside the vaunted MD — is not a requirement to be board-certified in pediatrics, active membership in the AAP is sometimes required by employers, and it’s an important professional development tool for pediatricians who want to advance in academic hospitals. The AAP also publishes must-read medical best practices that guide the care children receive in the United States and around the world.
“Anyone speaking up for Israel was shot down. I posted, ‘I’m Jewish and I have trauma,’ and we’re supposed to be trauma-informed. And they responded with, ‘Nobody cares. Your trauma is irrelevant,’” Dr. Michelle Elisburg, a pediatrician in Kentucky and a member of Hadassah’s physicians council, told JI. “You would never tell your patient their trauma is irrelevant. They’ve completely lost their medical ethics of how to treat each other, in a way that you would never do to your patient, and it was tolerated. No moderator stopped it.”
“In the health care world, professional associations can have a lot of power and authority over people’s lives,” said David Goldfarb, who works on health policy at the Jewish Federations of North America, which has worked to garner congressional attention for the issue of antisemitism in medicine. “The American Academy of Pediatrics makes recommendations for children’s behavior. So these are important institutions in themselves.”

the unsung and too often unacknowledged medics, first responders, ZAKA volunteers, medical examiners, forensics experts, and anthropologists should have our support and prayers too. they have the most unenviable and difficult tasks, have witnessed what has happened up close in a way that none of us could bear, and they do that with compassionate professionalism and integrity. they are readying for another unbearable day in this stretch of gruesome days, and they will do it while restoring dignity to the fallen hostages and their loved ones. I don’t know who provides them solace once their work is done, but they deserve appreciation.

Jewish indigeneity to the Levant is like. The one fact on Earth that is universally supported by all relevant scientific and religious evidence. It’s proven by historical records and archaeology and genetic studies, and it’s detailed in the Torah, the Christian Bible and the Quran.
I tend to agree with people who believe scientific evidence over religious texts, and I can understand why some people agree with religious texts over scientific evidence. But if you outright dismiss both in favor of propaganda you found online then I really don’t know how you help you
