I'm fully obsessed with how willing some people are to take things at face value. I did some reading to find out the best star trek TOS novels and on so many of them (interestingly enough it's usually for the ones written by women, but I digress), people leave bad reviews specifically with the same complaint, time and again. "Spock is too emotional in this. Spock is purely logical you can't write him with emotions like this." And every time i read that complaint i am fully fucking flummoxed, because of COURSE Spock is emotional, what the hell are these people talking about. Spock is shown over and over again in the show to be a deeply emotional person. This is something he vehemently denies, granted, but it is obviously intended to be clear to the viewer that he is LYING when he denies having emotions. Jim and Bones have very specific Looks reserved for when he tells this lie.
There is a very specific reason Spock tells that particular lie, of course. A pretty emotion-based one at that. Spock has a very complicated relationship with his parents and with his human versus his Vulcan culture. Growing up on Vulcan of course Spock wanted to be less human, and be more like his peers. But the fact is that even Vulcans are not naturally emotionless/logical, and they actually have very specific historical reasons for so deeply valuing logic over emotion. So it is absolutely baffling to me to see people just take what Spock tells us about himself entirely as truth. Spock is a bitch and a liar (affectionate) and he is so deeply human in so many ways. That's why people enjoy his character in the first place, imo.

like look i know im a dsmpolo but it is genuinely really interesting to me to see people talk abt the dsmp like, "oh it wasnt meant to be that srs and mc roleplay just isnt that deep and" like no, it was? dsmp was lighthearted in a lot of ways, yeah, but it definitely had its more hard-hitting moments? it wasn't just written to be haha funny meaningless jokes all the way through? dsmp is a sum of all its parts, the fooling around and the scripted story and the improv roleplay and the carefully-constructed-months-in-advance plot beats. like dsmp was absolutely a very special server with a very special story that was, yes, minecraft roleplay and full of stupid silly moments and dick jokes but ALSO was absolutely meant to hit on some heavy topics and dark themes! like theres no need to give the fandom this much credit, lol, they didn't just hallucinate a story from a bunch of minecraft lets play content--they managed to hallucinate a self-contradictory, much worse story from the existing story that was literally right in their face for the sake of their personal biases and projection and then got mad at the dream smp for staying true to the story it was actually trying to tell instead of acting like a lesser conduit of the fans' wishes and sacrificing a cohesive plot for popularity points and views. like, don't get me wrong, the dsmp is far from perfect, there are parts of the story that i enjoy far more than others, and it definitely has its own flaws and weaknesses. but god damn if it's not still a story that affected a HECK of a lot of people (even if people might be desperate to act like they dgaf nowadays) while being, yes, a minecraft roleplay server

Fuck, just had a hell of a Holland realization, which everyone else probably realized years ago but indulge my horror: The Danes have their stone statue garden of traitors. And the only thing we've ever seen in WL that can turn people to stone is As Staro. The command Holland used to kill his fucking brother. The idea of him having to replicate that kill over and over with the traitors the Danes wanted to make sharpest examples of, and then walk past those kills every fucking day? I have nothing else to say except it's a fucking crime Holland didn't get the same sort of triumphant, bloody fight against the Danes Lila got against the earth mage who tried to kill her in the tournament, because to say he deserved it so much more is the flimsiest possible understatement.

The gang, as they say, is all here.
Left to right it goes Albafica (red hair), Southern Star (orange hair), Pale (green, yours truly), Lugonis (also red), Dohko (the dragon), Sailor Kazuma (kneeling), Nyazu (on Kaz's tail), Mask (loafing), and Edgeworth (curly brown-silver hair).
Now... shading.

every time i open jorge lorenzo’s instagram there is some new batshit crazy stuff he posted, it’s a joy every time, the man is a motogp legend, and he decided it wasn’t enough, he needed to defeat every other corny millennial man alive by exclusively following women and posting dude bro advice
this is so funny to me because honestly I have no clue what he posts on instagram beyond what gets reported on motogp news sites or (more commonly) what crosses the pond to reddit, but can't say I'm surprised... I don't use instagram myself so I have no clue what these men actually do on there lol. these days I am getting further updates on their activities via tumblr! quite glad not to be directly experiencing a lot of it!
anyway yeah that does all sound very... him. kinda reminds me of that 2013 controversy where monster energy did this thing where they made a video of him showing off his mansion filled with bikini-clad models. the video ended up being taken down, it was seen as tasteless both given spain's economic situation and... y'know, the gender of it all. and jorge does have an... interesting approach to social media in general. also definitely the most opinionated of the retired aliens these days! casey probably comes in second and he does have a lot of thoughts about many things, but generally speaking it's not QUITE as relentless as it is with jorge. he's really missing a bit of a filter lol, there's an entire career arc here where when he was younger he was all about finding himself and establishing a character and explaining to the world who he really was, before getting burned by the world and being way more closed off for quite a few years, before retiring and relaxing a bit and sharing everything that comes to his head. for better or for worse. he may be cringe but at least he's free

You're probably not stuck at the airport anymore but 🍓 🌵🥤🍬🔪❄️for the writers ask
omg hiiiii thank you <333
🍓 How did you get into writing fan fiction?
answered here!
🌵 Share the link to a playlist you love
This is the closest I'll ever get to a Dean POV of Cell Service
🥤 Recommend a fanfic or author you love
For my beloved Samtual, I give you this.
🍬 Post an unpopular opinion about a popular character
Oh absolutely!!
I love Just Some Guy!Dean. Meaning, I love when Dean is just a regular human.
There's a lot of popular headcanons and fanon that Dean is actually psychic, or can see angel trueforms, or is able to be possesed by Cas, and I'm just not a fan of any of them (with a few exceptions-- mostly So Says the Sword lmao).
Dean doesn't need special abilities to be capable. He's very intuitive, and perceptive, but that doesn't mean he's psychic.
And I personally really like that there is this inescapable degree of separation between Dean and Castiel, but they love each other anyway.
Dean is constantly framed by the narrative as being always in the right, which I think is bad for his character. I think it's a fun character trait for him to be perceptive, but I think where the psychic!Dean fanon stems from is seeing a character trait exacerbated by less-than-stellar writing, and running with it.
There's nothing wrong with psychic!Dean or him seeing trueforms ect, I just personally don't care for it.
To me, Dean is spn's Sokka. He doesn't have any magic or extraordinary abilities, but he's still capable, important, and impactful.
🔪 What's the weirdest topic you've researched for a writing project?
Eyelash anatomy, probably. It was for a silly throw away line in AMND lmao

TOP TEN FOB SONGS (realizing i don’t know much abt ur fob preferences actually)
spi u are the one and only person who indulges me, I can’t thank you enough
top ten fob songs!!!! oh god. uhh
1.) 27. wrote an essay on this one once. there’s really not enough I can say about it— it’s kind of a masterpiece.
2.) alpha dog. it’s the way patrick sings ‘I’m a star’ and vocally this song is just STUNNING. also lyrically, too. also musically. it’s so fucking good
3.) fame < infamy. im in love with the intro. andy and joe went OFF in this one btw
4.) what a catch. it’s the emotion and the symbolism behind it. it’s the story. i have to be like, mentally stable to listen to it or else I start crying
5.) young & menace. I love the experimentation that went into mania and this song demonstrated it the best. I’ve seen videos of patrick singing it live (and I’ve tried to sing it myself) and it is fucking HARD to sing. kudos to him fr
6.) bishops knife trick. while we’re on the topic of mania. this is probably my favorite song off mania and definitely makes top ten. its the hum hallelujah parallels and the love behind it that makes me hurt soooo good. it’s also a fantastic night driving song
7.) the kids aren’t alright. I mean, what else do I have to say? it’s the meaning behind it. this was my best friend and I’s song for a long time. id do it all again. mic drop.
8.) the phoenix. it was the absolute perfect song for fob to come back with and it’s the rising up imagery that gets me. id write a whole essay on it if I could. maybe I will actually
9.) so much for stardust. the title track was the best, sue me. i must have looped this five hundred times at school toward the end of the year. it’s the perfect album ending and the strings were a great touch
10.) Bob Dylan. I LOVE this song. I think it might have actually been my introduction to fall out boy, the first song I really listened to without radio influence. i love the lyrics. it just… has a lot of meaning to me
