The people saying Luke “isn’t who they thought he was” because he and Nicola were affectionate on the WT make me wonder if they are that insecure in their romantic relationships. Personally the vast majority of how they acted around one another are things I do with my friends regardless of gender. Like obviously they played up their chemistry while doing carpets and interviews to promote the show and it came across as effortless because they are comfortable and trust one another which means they have to have some level of close friendship. If I saw my SO acting like that with one of their close friends, I would think it’s cute (bearing in mind they are meeting my needs for affection/intimacy).

I firmly believe (straight) men should have women as friends because it shows a level of willingness to listen/understand povs different from their own. A diverse set of friends is never a bad thing.

Also, have any of these people ever been friends with theater people? They are so over the top with physical affection. I would frequently cuddle with my guy friends, hold hands sometimes with friends, fix each other’s hair and clothes, again regardless of gender.

I agree with this. I might be almost permanently single but I never saw anything wrong with how they behaved even if both were in relationships. I feel like those that do, are either as you said feeling insecure with their partners or the type of people for whom holding hands with another is cheating.

What I saw was literally a pair of friends that is comfortable with each other, physically close partly because of the types of scenes they’ve filmed and affectionate in how they behave.

Plus, at the end of the day, what constitutes as cheating or toeing the line in a relationship is a subjective thing. We have no right to determine what that means for them and their partners.

I do love Nicola, she seems like such a good person, and stands for things that I believe in as well, but it’s exhausting the pedestal some fans put her on, especially when it comes to Luke.

Since the Hugo Boss event the ‘he’s not the person we thought he was comments’ have been really annoying. Yes he was laughing, joking and generally being friendly with Nicola on tour whilst being with Antonia. He was doing his job, and let’s be real here it wasn’t all him. Nicola was receptive as well. She might of been with Jake then too, so why is Luke the one getting the stick for it.

This literally could serve as a reply to that previous ask I have answered. Because I agree. The double standards are insane.

If you want to say that their behaviour on the wt was wrong somehow (imo it wasn’t, even if they were in relationships with others), then that’s on both of them. Not just Luke. They flirted yes, but you can flirt with friends. It doesn’t have to mean anything.

But like you said, any dubious behaviour would go both sides. Except that we don’t know what were their relationship statuses. We literally don’t know enough to make that judgement. All those comments calling into question Luke’s character are bonkers. They come from parasocial people who think they know the whole truth of everything and are privy to strangers lives.

I think it's funny how you ALWAYS throw Nic under the bus to defend Luke and reiterate how she is not perfect and should not be put on a pedestal, but will happily share when she praises him. If you desperately want Luke to dissociate with her, don't bring her up when you speak about him. The call is coming from inside the house

I wouldn’t say I’ve ever thrown Nic under the bus, unless pointing out obvious things and discussing actual events is that. Plus well - no human should ever be treated as perfect and be put on the pedestal. I would never suggest otherwise. So I don’t really get your point.

Despite what you think, I like her. I like her acting and her relationship with Luke as work friends and mutual support.

Personally, I slept like a baby last night. We got to see Luke and his deliciously fluffy hair, the facial hair was amazing and he looked so good, I could just eat him up. He looked so stoked to meet Beckham, he's so adorable. I liked Antonia's shoes. Let's hope this outing results in a underwear campaign for him 😏 All is well in the parts that don't need a fantasy relationship between actors to enjoy and on-screen pairing and off-screen friendship.

Same! It was really invigorating to see him thriving, looking like a whole damn menu and also having a time of his life. I know my man was fangirling hard when he ended up on Beckham’s story 😂 and good for him!

The morning after Luke’s event last night and I am happily adding to my block list. The unhinged bs I am reading is cult like at this point.

Exactly anon. Exactly. Sure Nicola does get hate too, especially when she shows up alongside Jake or we know he attended the event as well. But imo what Luke gets is worse every time.

Like so far I’ve seen discourse about: how he looks unhappy with Antonia, how there’s no chemistry, how he attended a backend event because he isn’t invited to more important ones, how he dared lie to shippers (lmao), how he’s not who they expected him to be because he didn’t defend Antonia online… and so on and so forth.

I'm not trying to troll, I swear on my heart, I'm on your team, but does he look happy to you? Like, if we're being completely honest and impartial? Because he looks dead in the eyes to me and I don't know what to make of it.

I think what we might consider "dead in the eyes" is nerves. We know that settings like this aren't exactly comfortable for him. He's had a long break without this sort of publicity, but that doesn't change the fact that it's stressful.

So he might be a bit tense, but he seems confident, which is all I want.
