Ur honestly so right and I think you've hit the nail on the head for why I just cannot understand Wille haters. Theres this inherent reason for every failure Wille has in his communication with Simon that hes not only never HAD to communicate stuff like this, but never even been ALLOWED to, so even beyond the fact that, of course his communication isnt perfect, hes just a kid, hes actually distinctly less developed in communication than his peers because of his upbringing. Communication is a learned skill, and Simon is the first person to give Wille a chance to learn it.
thinking back to simon and wille's fight in the music room as well as when they met in the locker room post leak and i love wille but this boy is simultaneously the best and worst at communication. like in both of these situations something upsetting has happened involving them so he does the logical thing and talks to simon about it. unfortunately his way of doing this is going "here's everything that's wrong. thoughts?" and providing absolutely no insight of his own. which often leads to simon drawing the wrong conclusion about what wille wants to do.
wille isn't used to having to make decisions or statements on his own so he's not sure how to. after the club fight he doesn't choose to go to hillerska. he's simply told he's going and given a speech. when the queen visits him after the video he doesn't choose how he wants to handle the situation, she tells him he's denying the video. before simon, wille's opinion in these situations didn't matter so he never gives it. he's used to other people making choices for him and having to go along with them.
it speaks volumes that he feels comfortable enough to actually voice his opinions to simon (even if he does so after hearing simon's first). this shows that even if he's not completely comfortable sharing his thoughts when it comes down to it he'll push through his own discomfort for simon.

Literally any interaction between locklyle could be followed up with Lucy narrating "which could mean nothing" and it would be entirely in character and not out of place

I'm fully obsessed with how willing some people are to take things at face value. I did some reading to find out the best star trek TOS novels and on so many of them (interestingly enough it's usually for the ones written by women, but I digress), people leave bad reviews specifically with the same complaint, time and again. "Spock is too emotional in this. Spock is purely logical you can't write him with emotions like this." And every time i read that complaint i am fully fucking flummoxed, because of COURSE Spock is emotional, what the hell are these people talking about. Spock is shown over and over again in the show to be a deeply emotional person. This is something he vehemently denies, granted, but it is obviously intended to be clear to the viewer that he is LYING when he denies having emotions. Jim and Bones have very specific Looks reserved for when he tells this lie.
There is a very specific reason Spock tells that particular lie, of course. A pretty emotion-based one at that. Spock has a very complicated relationship with his parents and with his human versus his Vulcan culture. Growing up on Vulcan of course Spock wanted to be less human, and be more like his peers. But the fact is that even Vulcans are not naturally emotionless/logical, and they actually have very specific historical reasons for so deeply valuing logic over emotion. So it is absolutely baffling to me to see people just take what Spock tells us about himself entirely as truth. Spock is a bitch and a liar (affectionate) and he is so deeply human in so many ways. That's why people enjoy his character in the first place, imo.
#i mentioned this to my dad#and i love my dad i mean no shade to him but the man is not an analytical person by any definition#he watches tv and its in one ear and out the other. the man is the antithesis of fandom#but anyways even that guy was like 'yeah obviously spock is emotional'#like if your take is so superficially face value that my father recognizes it as dumb?#what show did u even watch#ANYWAYS#i will be over here reading the price of the phoenix and thinking about when spock allows himself to put his guard down#not yr#star trek#star trek tos#spock#prince queuehelm

Something that always really resonated with me in The Perks of Being A Wallflower was the line right near the end when Charlie says "there are people who forget what it's like to be 16 once you turn 17" and maybe it's just because I was 16 the first time I watched the movie and I felt like nobody ever listened to me because I was young, but I promised myself I would not forget what it was like to be 16, or any age that I had been, and that I would extend the respect and understanding that I so craved to others. And I forget to do that sometimes, but whenever I play the perks soundtrack on vinyl (cause I'm a 2014 hipster in my spare time) that speech plays into the last track and I hear it and remember that I need to do that. So anyways if you're 16 and you feel like nobody ever listens to you or remembers what being 16 felt like I'm sorry. I promise I do. Relish in the good parts while you have them and know the bad will be over soon 💚
#in the end i look back really fondly at that time in my life#and i KNOW a lot of bad was happening (it was 2016 lmfao) plus i was having a ton of personal issues#but when i think about what i was doing at age 16? i was going to play rehearsal and forming inside jokes that i still laugh at#and i was discovering new music and becoming close with some of my dearest friends#people i consider family now even if we arent close anymore#so i know its frustrating i really do. but dancing with your friends in the theatre will always be stronger#anyways this movie fucks me up everytime so thanks for that G (iykyk)#not yr#personal#the perks of being a wallflower#prince queuehelm

Y'all know I love to be delusional abt YR but like. Am I the only person who is just. Genuinely feeling like it's a sane and simple take to believe in wilmon endgame? Like i keep seeing ppl talk about it like thinking that is delusional but like? Idk it just seems obvious to me. I feel like I know when I'm delusional about something that's actually far fetched, yk?

In season 1 episode 4 when Wille is back at the palace after Erik’s death, Kristina says something really interesting. She sits down and says “just to think, ever since the day I was born I knew that I would inherit the crown from dad. But I had time to... prepare myself. And so did Erik.” She goes on to talk about how now Wille will inherit the crown and he has to be a role model etc., which Wille absolutely doesn’t want to hear. But I think the way Kristina opens that discussion is so interesting, because she doesn’t say it outright, and I doubt Wille really catches it, but there’s this implicit acknowledgement of the difficult position Wille is put in by suddenly being next in line. She has no idea how to express her sympathy for the situation, but she puts it out there in her own way that she knows it’s shit.

When Wille says Simon should come shoot and Simon replies "it's not my thing" Wille looks really hurt, but what he doesn't realize is that it was 100% a jab at Marcus for not wanting to come to the ball because it's not his thing.

Another thing about the very first choir scene in the show is the contrast between Wille and the rest of the students. Wille is abso-fucking-lutely enamoured, eyes locked on Simon, and the camera makes a point to show us that nobody else around him is, other students are chattering with one another and being shushed by the headmistress. It makes Willes reaction that much more noticeable

Okay a moment away from my regular crying over Edvins subtle face acting to appreciate Omar doing the same at the ball. The way his eyes unfocused the moment Wille says "you're not in love with me anymore" and hes so disconnected from everything, aimless, glancing around so much that Marcus asks if hes nervous. And then he follows him outside and suddenly it's all focus, absolute tunnel vision on Wille.
Then as the episode ends you see him look from Marcus to Wille and you can just tell.
