What if the thing that makes Lockwood immediately attach to Lucy is that she can still feel? What if, in a society where the children have been turned into soldiers and any form of vulnerability is seen as weakness, Lockwood sees Lucy Carlyle and is struck with how good she is. Because he's turned off his emotions, done everything he can to go numb, but she can't do that. She stands in front of him, a bleeding heart, day in and day out. And she's just as strong as him. She picks up her rapier and fights beside him. And she is still moved by the suffering of others, by beauty, by everything.

Maybe when Lockwood says "We need you, Lucy. And it's not because you're an asset...because you're Lucy Carlyle" what that really translates to is "we need you because you see the world in a way we can't anymore. We need you because there is a part of your heart that has somehow escaped unscathed—the part that feels. And in this calloused, cruel world, we need you. We need you to remind us beauty exists and life is worth living."

Anthony Lockwood had never really believed in mermaids. Until he saw her.

Freedivers Lockwood and George stay in the same place on the coast each summer, but this time they’re not there to relax. Fishing nets have been banned for years because of their impacts on the environment and local marine life — no local fishermen use them anymore for the same reason. When a turtle washes up on the beach after being caught in a net, the boys take it upon themselves to find out who’s responsible. It turns out they’re not the only ones interested in getting justice for the sea creatures affected.

Enter Lucy Carlyle, anonymous environmental activist and local mermaid.

This summer might turn out to be more eventful than they thought.

Louis/Lestat/Armand/Daniel: [MAJOR SHOW SPOILERS AHEAD]

The way these men mix and match with each other over the course of the show is immaculate. They aren't canonically a polycule, but me and my friends literally refer to the four of them together as "The Evil Polycule".

Louis has canonically been with Lestat and with Armand and Armand and Lestat have also canonically been together.

As far as Daniel being involved, Daniel was just turned in the end of season 2 by Armand so it's definitely looking like we're going to get Devil's Minion (Armand/Daniel), which is canon in the books that the show is based on. Also, Daniel was brainwashed for a long time into thinking he hooked up with Louis back in the 1970s, which he didn't seem to have a problem believing until he found out it wasn't true (which, y'know, fair), so that coupled with Louis also having several memories of that same time period brainwashed away by the same person makes DanLou a popular ship (who traumabonding!!!) but it isn't necessarily a canon one. And then with the rockstar Lestat arc also coming up in season 3 we know Daniel is going to be interacting with Lestat and I don't know know if it's ship material but I feel like there's opportunity for shenanigans.

Cot3 School Fencing Competitions AU

Lucy’s new to this whole ‘Public Schools Fencing Championships’ thing. She’s used to small school competitions against other places in her area, not going up against every other school in the country. She also isn’t used to dealing with cocky guys in the year above thinking they know everything there is to know about fencing… that’s where Lockwood comes in. They never have to fence each other for the competition itself, but George finds himself refereeing the two of them anyway.
