SOMEWHERE IN TIME
A timeless romance starring Jane Seymour & Christopher Reeve
youtube
A tribute to Somewhere In Time (1980) starring the beautiful Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) and the late great Christopher Reeve (Superman).
Synopsis: "In 1972, playwright Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) becomes fascinated by a photo of Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour), a turn-of-the-century stage actress, while staying at the Grand Hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan. As Richard's obsession grows, he learns from a friend that time travel may actually be possible through hypnosis. Richard travels in time to meet Elise, and the two appear destined to be together. However, Elise's jealous manager (Christopher Plummer) attempts to keep them apart." Fun Fact: Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve had a rather intense love affair behind the scenes of this film. To quote Jane, they fell "madly in love." The looks, touches, and chemistry they had on screen was believable for a reason. Their affair came to an abrupt end when Reeve's ex-girlfriend revealed to him that she'd been hiding a pregnancy and was about to give birth to his child. Christopher ended his romantic relationship with Jane as a result, making a point that he needed to do what he thought best...be a father and partner to the mother of his child. Jane recounted that, while she did her best to understand, the news crushed her and she fought back tears during one of their final scenes together on set. Despite how their romantic relationship ended, the two remained very close. If things had gone differently, if Reeve hadn't received the new of his ex's pregnancy, perhaps he and Jane would have went on to enjoy a lasting partnership together. We will never know and, perhaps, that's how it should be.
This film features a memorable score by John Barry, yet the song I chose is Where Does My Heart Beat Now by Celine Dion. It is a song I feel describes the relationship of Elise and Richard perfectly. Hopefully you enjoy it :)

Watching a long run tv show and it’s great. Because maybe some episodes are a bit slower, but you can see how the characters evolve because the actors get better at playing them. The character who is rude has a reason to be, and they work to get better. Other had a strange introduction episode, but later they change.
Characters who were only meant to last an episode, get dynamic with the main ones and so they stay. Or they have a change of mind to fit better
Like, yeah, maybe you aren’t excited all the time as in a short series, but there’s a certain joy in being like: this guy!!! He came back. I can’t believe that happened. No! They shouldn’t buy bread because (reason)

Anyways I'm rewatching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and I am thoroughly convinced there has never been a more beautiful and perfectly crafted slowburn romance than Dr. Mike and Sully.
It's truly devious, they spend all of season 1 dancing around their mutual attraction to each other and slowly becomes more and more integrated into each other's lives. It's to the point where Sully is as good as the kids' Dad. Seriously. There's evidence as early as season 1 that Brian at the very least sees him as such. And then they end the first season with Sully and Dr. Mike acknowledging something might be there but Sully isn't ready to face it yet so they put it on hold.
AND THEN THE SHOWRUNNERS HAD THE GALL TO PUT WHERE THE HEART IS PT 1+2 IN THE BEGINNING OF SEASON 2
GODS ABOVE
He travels hundreds of miles across the country to see her and she's caught up in this whirlwind romance and it's fucking painful. 20 episodes of some of the most palpable tension roars to a head as Sully struggles with the possibility that he could lose Dr. Mike and Dr. Mike struggles with receiving the attention and interest Sully has been unable to show her.
AND THAT ARGUMENT ON THE TRAIN?
The way he yells "I love you!" at her and the way she clearly wants to call him all sorts of untoward things for being such an ass and running away and saying such things when the train starts moving and they have no time so she has to turn tail and run.
And then she makes the decision to go back home to Colorado Springs because Sully loves her, and she loves Sully, and she loves that little frontier town and the life she made there. So her and the kids pack back up and head home and make that long journey out west again.
and getting off the stage she has only one thought on her mind. Where is Sully? Is he off moping? Has he pulled one of his disappearing acts? She ignores everyone on the street, friends and family alike. She only has eyes for him. And just as she's given up and turned to direct the drivers on the matter of the luggage, Colleen spots him and gets Dr. Mike's attention.
And she runs to him.
and she kisses him.
and she tells him "I love you too."
Now I'm only up to Giving Thanks which is the 8th episode of season 2 and its the first official episode of them courting (and the first episode to mark three consecutive episode of a story instead of self contained vignettes) so I can't be very detailed but holy fuck. We don't get the culmination of this clusterfuck until A SEASON AND A HALF LATER. They are still doing will-they-won't-they plots UP UNTIL THE EPISODE BEFORE THEIR WEDDING EPISODES. These two SUFFER for their romance. It never comes easy but its always there and choking you because it's so thick. truly one of the best romances ever written. the most exquisite torture. Jane Seymour and Joe Lando's chemistry should be criminal. And I need to go to sleep instead of crying about this.

So...I'm trying to empty my inbox (hence all the content lately) and I just finished writing a fluffy Hank Lawson fic. I have one more request I'm working on next, but I'm feeling very inspired to write for him and would love to have my inbox flooded with more inspiration for Hank and any Dr. Quinn characters in general. I know my fellow Hank lovers are far and few between, but if you happen to see this, lovelies, please send something my way!

I would like to point out, for absolutely no reason that Dr Michaela Quinn, MD at the new Frontier, and Lord and Lady Grantham would have been alive at the same time. -granted Dr Mike would have been in her 30s by the time they were born, but geeeee.
Of course, that is, if they would have been real life people 😂
I can rest now

Random Fact of the Day: In 1996, Fred Rogers appeared on the television drama Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. This was the only time in his television career when Fred Rogers portrayed a fictional human character--he played a pastor's mentor.
I remember this episode and my mind being blown (I was 9) seeing Fred Rogers on something other than Mr. Rogers's Neighborhood.
Also obligatory gif of Dr. Quinn:
