I will never understand DNI lists, unless they're for NSFW accounts trying to keep underage people from interacting with them and are actively monitoring who follows them as a result. The concept of trying to bar people from trying to enjoy the work you create as an artist just because some people with similar mindsets as them is shitty.

As far as things go what does it matter who interacts with you if they're not bullying, harrassing or otherwise treating you badly? I mean, as far as things go it takes less effort and energy to hit the block button on people who interact with you that make you uncomfortable than it is for people to make secondary websites or posts that they expect people to read that is just there to gatekeep who can or cannot interact with them.

Not everyone is going to read DNI lists and a lot of the people who do read it probably don't give two shits and are going to interact with you anyways because they obviously either enjoy your content or are intent on trying to harass you.

This whole "DNI if you're..." Thing is honestly just helping cultivate a more toxic environment in fandom spaces as the vocal minorities on both sides of stupid controversial a d trivial things in fandoms argue endlessly back and forth over something that really isn't complicated or need to be fought about.

One example that comes to mind can be solved by people understanding the following:

1. People have freedom of creative expression, so long as it's within the limits of their country's respective laws.

2. Art can be used as a way for people to express things and explore things from a creative lens.

3. Not everything people create is going to be savory, and people have every right to be uncomfortable or block that person.

4. People have different life experiences and traumas, sharing dark and potentially triggering stories or art online means you should be tagging your work appropriately and putting in the correct warnings.

5. Nobody deserves to be harassed, attacked or doxxed. If someone is genuinely breaking the law, report them and encourage other to do the same, especially if the safety of others is genuinely at risk.

6. Not every piece of art or work is going to be good for you, and you don't need to interact with it. You're under no obligation to continue reading, scrolling, etc. and that's okay.

7. Not everything needs to be made to your standards, art would be meaningless if it did.

8. Be a respectful person, don't attack people on the internet just because you don't like their art, writing, beliefs. Just block them and carry on, there's no need to potentially trigger someone else or cause others distress. (Two wrongs don't make a right)

9. The block button is free.

10. Don't interact with posts you don't want to see and you'll see less of them. The internet is massive, so it's up to you to tag your posts accordingly to help tailor your own browsing experience and make it easy for others to do the same.

These 10 simple things can apply to any social media or website you use, these can be applied to most things on the internet, not just fandom.

Healthy interaction is a two way street, it's not fair for you to expect people you don't want to interact with you not to, when you go out of your way to harass other people.

This is not directed at anyone in particular and is rather a culmination of the frustration that has built up as I've seen the same dramas time and time again happen online, especially in fandom spaces. The current mentality in fandom spaces is genuinely a toxic one that needs to be stopped before it starts to have genuine real life issues spring up because of online faces starting to attack people offline too.

a/n: oh wow i'm finally putting in effort on my posts instead of just texts? this is the most i can do i am not the most creative person on this app and i apologize for that. also, this was birthed from a random conversation with a friend regarding shin's usual demeanor around his loved ones. or this is really just an excuse to write about scary shinichiro (he is sexy to me either way!)

"who" you jump at the sudden intrusion of a familiar voice. you were so immersed in tending to your scraped knee that you failed to acknowledge your boyfriend's presence. turning to face him, you were slightly taken aback to observe a foreign look on his face, almost predatory, the usual spark in his midnight eyes absent at the sight of your wound.

"who did this to you" he repeated himself after you failed to respond. crouching down to eye level, he inspected the wound with the same sternness. if you were honest, you were a little afraid of this side of him. the shinichiro you have been dating for the past 3 years have always been gentle, the playful glint in his eyes and the warmth of his palms when he touches your skin; those charming characteristics defined your boyfriend. and yet, it is almost as if you fail to recognise the man next to you.

"good. i trust that you would know better than to utter a single word to her." shinichiro stood to his full height and wiped his hands on his leather jacket, seemingly satisfied with the conclusion before exiting the back alley, leaving his victim groaning in utter pain and disbelief.

There’s a new girl at Dupont, maybe in Bustier’s class, maybe not, and she looks incredibly similar to Ladybug. Same coloured black hair that looks blue in the right light held in twin tails, same coloured eyes, similar faces, even of Asian descent, her being Chinese or not is optional but she should be from some part of Asia.

Except, people quickly drop the idea that’s she could be Ladybug. She’s taller then her for starters, she’s more muscular, and she’s only been in France a week.

Only person who doesn’t put those points together and decides she IS Ladybug? Adrien. As much as he’s clearly smart, he’s also stupid when it comes to LB and as such, he really thinks she’s Ladybug.

So, he starts flirting with her. And she doesn’t reciprocate, whether she A romantic, gay or already has some is another choice, and calmly tells him she’s not interested.

This of course convinces him she is LB because that’s how she always responds to his “harmless” flirting, right? So he continues, but in private. He does occasionally try it around others, but they’re quick to say she already said no before to back her up, but he doesn’t stop and gets especially creepy with her when ever they’re in private.

This builds up until during lunch, everyone hears a loud bang followed by a slam and a grunt. The new girl has just picked Adrien up by the throat, slammed him up again a wall and is glaring into his soul.

She makes it abundantly clear, she is not interested in him, has no interest in him, and that he needs to stop or she’ll MAKE him stop.

After this, Adrien can either stop harrassing her all together, and confront the fact that how he’s been acting with Ladybug is wrong, or, the path I’m going, he keeps going anyways, because its just empty threats, right?

Very next time he tries it on her, she punches him right in the face, sending him straight to the ground, giving him a black eye and she looks like she’s going to kill him. She tells him once more, stop or it’ll get worse. He foolishly tries to flirt with her again right afterwards, and no one can hold her back as she goes to town on Adrien, beating him black and blue and constantly shrugging anyone who tries to stop her.

She screams at him how he’s an absolute piece of shit and that she could’ve done worse, she could’ve started breaking bones, but didn’t because she didn’t want the legal trouble. Mrs. Mendeleiev eventually gets over, and just about everyone says that while they feel she kind of went too far, they also say her punching Adrien was deserved considering his constantly harassing her.

From here, Adrien is punished by both the school and his father, who’s of course more upset about the damage to the brand then his son, and next time he leaves to go see LB, the second he starts flirting, she kicks him between the legs, takes the Ring, and drops him back at his home.

Later, the new girl explains that she used to get bullied, and found that teachers never really helped her, and her parents told her that, short of changing schools, the only way to get bullies to stop was to beat them up, give them something to be afraid of. She’s only given a week of detention for honestly taking it a bit far, but everyone is in agreement that attacking a sexual harasser was the best decision, and the school doesn’t want to get blasted in the media for telling a girl she’s not allowed to defend herself from sexual harassment, as many students made it abundantly clear that they got the fight on video, which clearly shows that Adrien was attempting to assault her before she fought back, and they’re more than willing to testify to his repeated harassment ever since she got there.

Adrien is eventually back after suspension for his harassment and time off to heal, expecting everything to just go back to how it was, with the status quo reset. Except no one wants to sit near him or even give him the time of day, even Nino. Only Chloe will sit and talk with him, and that’s not exactly great is it?

2. This is the issue with these shows. No one is saying that fucked up shit cannot be shown. There’s a film about a woman who is raped and she falls in love with her rapist (because he was masked but i think we find out later that she knows. Binoche is in it.) I have no desire for that film—i think it’s by a man and i extra dont care—but I hear it’s sort of powerful for many. I heard it was a good film. But the act itself is always eschewed and the conflict comes from how fucking ridiculous it is especially finding out that she knows. The power imbalance adn the possibility. They may not have handled it in a way I would have cared for but it was there.

There’s simply no imagination because these people do not care that much and aren’t great writers and filmmakers because they simply do not have to be. Sorry.

The industry doesn’t rely on the best they rely on efficiency (this is everywhere.) You can tell by the camera angles, the editing, the camera itself (idk if it is multicam but the flatness is typical soap flatness without the glowboxes to soften their faces.) Simple constant lighting. Now the surroundings are mostly beautiful. But even to some of the costumes. And those edits are abysmal, some of that camera work.

So with all that said even with the couple I extremely enjoy I see its (H4) faults. Add into that a lazily thrown together “shocking” love and if they are trying to get us to feel a type of way about its sexiness they fail. This is why movies like 50sog, 365 days, etc aren’t enjoyable to people because it’s fucking strange situations that they dont want to entangle or make enjoyable to viewers across the board. fandoms have a very warped sense of harrassment and discourse.

Most fandoms have harassers who are “protecting” the cast and crew who don’t need their protection (or maybe the crew does since they probably dont get paid well but why the fuck would anyone care about that lol) but very few have the people who have concerns or massive critique about the show are not going to be “bullying.”

Antiblackness

Antiblackness is a thing. It permeates everywhere. It permeates in this genre and it permeates in fandom. Get it the fuck together. Also do not conflate cultural relativism with being repsectful. They are not barbarians, they are smart human beings either making work or deciding to. We all have diff cultures but we have fucking sense in what is respectful and not. And if we don’t we fucking learn. You cannot excuse things and say “oh culture” when you have 0 idea of that culture or actual people who are radical etc and are fighting against it. Additionally the word westerner is an ignorant term when referring to people in the US or UK who are black. Because we are not. We extend sympathy to other groups and empathy since we know so there is no inherent power imbalance between a black viewer and their subject. Don’t suggest that because it’s wrong and ahistorical and contextless.

FIRST the fallacy of representation as freedom makes people fucking complacent, individualistic, and doesn’t let them think critically. Consumption and discourse around consumption is not helping material conditions of the marginalized communities in your home, the black ones who are ignored, those intersectionalized in these communities. Groups talk about art and what it means for them outside of just what we see and because we also don’t have access to a bunch of Thai reviews or what movements or going on we are less likely to know if we don’t FUCKING SEARCH for it. Because art is constant...which leads me to....

Representation is difficult. It matters and it doesn’t.

Tthese shows are not meant to overturn the LGBTQ+ community.

There are queer filmmakers and artists in these countries. Deep illustrious film careers or even TV that is moving and deliberate. We can even see it with the dude from “your name engraved” in their short series he was in beforehand. BL is no wa pejorative because it is simply not “qu**r” storytelling whatever that means. But know it has always existed everywhere and there are also out artists or radical artists in all these countries who do no respect mediums that are cash-grabs and poorly made.

These countries in SEA or even SA do not have as big budget for even mainstream dramas—though things are changing and that’s bc REVENUE like revenue from kpop is fucking huge for SK and again so much about that is bc of what happened in their history from japanese imperialism to WWII to the US—so for “queer” stuff it is sort of now important to make that an export and it sure is one. Not only globally or to the west but a lot of these places make their money within asia (duh!) outside of their countries. OBVIOUSLY. so BL is a way to output and gain money. But google [any country] independent cinema, radical cinema, queer radical cinema, or even retrospectives on the cinema and rethinking what is queer and radical in film. We’re getting those returns on poor executed product placement, lighting, editing, framing, fucking acting. And you surewon’t see mixed black asians in these shows. And before you start: asian countries are not homogenous the way we believe them to be. There are marginalized communities outside of even mixed people that are harmed. There’s damage that has been done from Parasite as he was supported by CJE&M and the bullshit obsession america had and eveyrone’s poor interpretation of it if they are rich. But now a fear for indie filmmakers is just not being able to raise that much or have that much attention. Even buying in is strategic. Additionally, that film is probs one of the most radical films to have that wide release and accolade (unlike “Sorry to Bother You” which i have a lot of thoughts about. However, filmmaking isn’t green, it can’t be socialist, and it’s a lot of work. They used tons and tons and TONS of water to do a huge beautiful feat but we still know there is a cost. additionally and this is something some users fail to understand: people in the media sphere generally have fucking money. I went to film school that was international with super fucking rich kids. The reason these industries are small and struggling is because of lack of people and lack of resources to independent shit because oh gee it takes money to make things.

That’s why in a way ITSAY is a huge feat; it takes from films etc and they clearly had money (the actors rae rich too which….lmaooooo j’aime pas) but it was a respected fucking script, acting was important, blocking, framing. There’s very little to critique as a visual medium for that because I understand what they are trying to do, their market is going to be mostly young girls, but they RESPECT THE FUCKING AUDIENCE. And guess what guys? You can make money from it!!!! WOAH! Since that may be the only goal which is disgusting and repulsive.

HOWEVER AND THIS IS WHAT IS SAD: itsay is an ex of a great show however knowing the actors backgrounds and the pseudo trouble it stirred when they weren’t supporting people protesting against the coup in the summer it really put a damper on my enjoyment. And this is how we can see that:

a) it’s honestly just a show and a good one but b) now what?

These kids (actors, who are like idk 19? 20?) are rich and not saying anything while countless actors, who were filming, did. Even tul who has $$$$ and the thing is the protesting against the coup legitimately attacks the rich. As it should. The protests going on were cries for help, against a dictatorship and fucking coup, asking people to get fucking help for covid, having kids be able to live. There’s a mini on VICE about this and it probably doesnt go too in depth but there’s a kid in there who talks about his friends getting into drugs and how he just wants to make music, have fun, skateboard. And it’s harrowing to see. This is a direct example of what these things do and don’t do. Yea we know a good show is here, we know growing up and slice of life, we know this is a bit of escapism and idealism but the idealism is reflected in the way these actors also choose to live their lives. So what progress? To who? For who? How is this helping me? What purpose does it serve? I say ITSAY serves its purpose as a piece and a glimpse into possibility of growing up but i do not say it antagonizes a broader issue that needs to be relevant in some sense but simply is not. It’s very singleminded and, well, it’s sort of like “besides my sexuality, what do i have to worry about?” But for real humans like....a lot. I do not respect their decision at all.

Why can’t we do our jobs and make something decent and respect our audience? No time, gotta make that sweet sweet sweet cash baybee. Look how progressive we are! Don’t look at history and material conditions. Thanks in advance, management.

History 4 does not have that respect. Many of these shows do not. Sometimes we hit good, sometimes we don’t. But in the end we cannot settle. And I won’t. If I am critiquing something I will not be shy and if I am meant to enjoy something as escapism then these shows NEED to highlight that and it’s rare sometimes (the best twins is a good reminder like that show is bad but man do i Brain Empty when i turn it on and i like that and there’s not much in it that makes me want to kill myself from annoyance but there are transphobic jokes i dont love however the whole show is a comedy about this dude’s crazy homophobic sister and she is constantly positioned as wrong and they talk about the aforementioned trans women as the actor was in drag. Interesting that they can manage that, huh?)

Oh btw.....taiwan has a very complicated history but ignore all the bad stuff it’s good now you can kinda sorta get married and stuff. KMT? You know how i learned that? I care about human beings and read about it lmao. I am not Taiwanese and look at that. So now I have historical and DIALECTICAL~**~*~****~*~*~ context so i can judge it as an artist, a black woman from america, and from the knowledge i have to pick up on their history to see if this fits into a broader picture besides the micro-one of sexuality on an individualized level. The failure to critique now means continuing on as it has and it will still do so. History and time are not linear in the sense we think it is. Someitmes things are better, sometimes things feel more austere. We are not living under liberation though and these shows are not going to do so. So they are not US nor are they for a nebulous “us” of which the groups are all fractured and have diff opinions anyway (my opinion as a black american is going to vary from an asian woman’s say and that could really clash and i do not feel solidarity with all those in every community i am for several reasons.)

Anyway my dissertation is that I ilke Muren and LiCheng a lot a lot and i like how cute they are and how truly dumb li cheng is. This is an example of mostly good writing, decent actors, nice chemistry, and sort of a calmness to them. And I super enjoy how Muren is pretty forward with LC in the sense that being together is like very important to truly be together. When he was like “no i didnt forget!” Or when LC asked him something in the office I forget it was 6 am and again i almost threw up and muren nodded and then LC leaned on him. Very cute. I want more of them tho i may have to skip that othre couple (the cameo the ones from MODC) but omfg the younger one HIS HAIR GREW SO MUCH HE LOOKS SO MATURE AND CUTE OMFGIJ0HUG9SAOGIJPKOAGJSIOHUAGIJP hahhaha the one good thing i will say about THEM.idk how old the actor is i figure he was young idk it makes me happy to see him he’s very cute. The Beast in The Cave: uh a guy goes on a cave tour and finds a creature that was like a human that got lost and adapted to its surroundings. 0/10 just because im pretty sure there was another one with this exact premise and neither of them were memorable at all.

The Alchemist: dude achieves immortality and lives in the narrators basement and has pledged to murder his entire lineage or something. 4/10 the alchemy stuff was actually kind of interesting

The Tomb: im pretty sure this is the one where a guy starts hanging out in a tomb and like travels back in time/becomes one of his ancestors? 5/10 if its the one im thinking of i did enjoy reading it

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward: guy investigates his ancestor who looks disturbingly like him, ancestor comes back to life and kills him and takes his place and a bunch of other stuff happens. mostly a dramatized genealogical study. 3/10 not bad, very suspenseful

The Colour Out Of Space: meteor lands on a farm, scientists get weirded out by it, everything in the area gets weird then dead, alien thing gets enough power from draining nearby life-forms to escape earth. fun twist ending. 4/10 bonus for being one of the better ones, detraction for writing out a 'rural accent'

The Very Old Folk: nope again, 0/10

History of the Necronomicon: very dry. fake history of lovecraft's fake book thats super important to a lot of the stories. 0/10

The Dunwich Horror: isolated witchy family has a kid who no one likes that grows up real fast. graphic descriptions of renovation. a horror gets unleashed on the area and the local folklore scholars have to deal with it. 1/10 nothing good enough to counter the xenophobia

Through The Gates of the Silver Key: Randolph Carter transcends time and space, then de-transcends time and space and immediately gets stuck on another planet in the distant past, makes a long and difficult journey back to earth to find that his estate is being divided amongst his heirs. the comedy potential of a man stuck in an alien body dealing with a legal system that has declared him dead is not examined. 2/10

The Thing on the Doorstep: narrator's good friend marries a fish person witch who steals his body. thats basically it. 3/10. at this point im like wow these narrators really refuse to believe the heavily foreshadowed supernatural explanations that turn out to be correct huh.

The Evil Clergyman: dude is in a room. some ghosts (?) show up. dude has a UV light for some reason. Gets his face stolen i guess and just has to live with it. 5/10 for being absolutely buck wild and refusing to explain anything

just had to listen to my homophobic mom give me, a 23 year old, whose dated guys and girls a lecture on why it's not possible for me to like girls and identify as lesbian. some of her main points btw: "going through a phase" "most lesbians i knew were needy" "all the lesbians i've known liked a guy at one point so they can't really like girls" "i read a book that said it's not scientificly possible" "are you trying to do this too be cool?" she does realize people get harrassed, discriminated, and bullied over not being straight right? she does understand that thousands of teens have been disowned, kicked out of their homes, and committed suicide over the fear of coming out right? over people like her. i've been crying for like 10 minutes i'm so upset rn.

hey love! i’m so sorry your mom is being awful and making you feel unsafe. first of all, I want to tell you unequivocally that you don’t deserve that, especially from someone who’s supposed to love and support you no matter what.

secondly, I want to tell you something that you probably already know, but might help to hear from someone other than yourself: however you identify and whoever you date has no effect whatsoever on your inherent worth and dignity as a human person. I’m saying this as the bisexual daughter of two queer women, and I’m saying with my entire being and every ounce of truth in my body.

You are valid, your feelings are valid, your love is valid, and however you choose to identity is valid. That will always, always be true.

I don’t know the whole situation with your mom (and believe me, I know relationships with one’s mother can be extremely complicated), so I hope you’ll forgive me when I also say that your mom sounds like a bigot. It sounds like she’s got a whole ton of her own shit to work through (not an excuse btw) and that she’s taking it out on you. That’s not fair and you don’t deserve it.

I’m just gonna be straight up here and say this was a little bit dumpy, but I honestly don’t mind:) we all need to dump sometimes, and I’m perfectly comfortable responding to this kind of thing. I’m really glad to hear that you feel like this is a safe place to talk and vent— I want to be there for y’all as much as I am able.

New Opportunities Ch. 6

Chapter 6

Chapter Summary: Ichidai's first day back to school, and the following weeks after.

"And?"

"He's dead."

"Well then, we'll proceed as planned. Operation 'Infiltrate U.A.' is officially a go"

All For One stood still as Kurogiri tightened the tie around his neck, fighting the urge to rip the abhorrent thing off and hurl it out the window of his new apartment.

While the petulant action might have matched his appearance, it still would have been a highly childish thing to do and he didn't want such things to become a habit. Tomura might have been prone to such fits, but he wasn't Tomura. He had more patience than that.

Most days anyway.

Today would be his first day at Aldera Junior High though, and he wasn't one to forgo first impressions. He wanted to get there on time, preferably earlier, and scope out the place he'd be haunting for the next two years. Yes, haunting, because he fully intended to make his teachers' and peers' lives as much of a living hell as he possibly could throughout the duration of his education there.

All For One nearly snorted out loud at that thought. Aldera was the bottom of the barrel in terms of schooling. Its reputation -if anyone could say it had any at all- was so deep in a trench it wouldn't ever be climbing out. There wasn't anything they could teach him that he didn't already know. The only thing they could provide him with was a proper alibi for his new role.

He might have never finished his schooling as a child the first time around, but All For One was fairly certain he was in for doing a whole lot of nothing for the next two years. Outside of building up some muscle to properly wield his quirk, which he could do just fine on his own, there wasn't a whole lot he needed to do. His body would be ready when it was ready and forcing it would only cause issues in the long run.

The best thing for him to do right now was lay low and attract as little attention to himself as possible.

He'd more or less managed that for well over a century. It'd be a piece of cake.

"You have your new phone?" Kurogiri asked, "Both my number as well as Tomura's are in there should you need us."

All For One nodded. "Yes, I double checked last night."

"Good. Let's head out. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not have to deal with the morning rush."

"Ditto."

As they passed Tomura on their way to the door, he waved without looking up from his game and said, "Have a good day in Hell, S- Ichidai."

All For One quirked an eyebrow at him as he pulled his shoes on. "Kurogiri homeschooled you. How do you know whether it'll be Hell or not?"

Tomura shrugged. "I don't, but everyone in my game servers says it is or was for them."

"Well, ...I suppose you're not wrong. I'll see you when I get back."

"See you then."

Unfortunately, because something had gone wrong in the administrative process while filing his papers, All For One didn't get to do any sort of roaming before classes. That alone annoyed him. What really got under his skin, though, was the fact he'd had to fill out important paperwork he'd already completed again.

Now, standing at the front of a room filled with snot-nosed brats, he was just barely resisting the urge to strangle someone.

"Morning, class. Today we have a new student. Introduce yourself, kid."

Internally scathing the teacher's lackadaisical attitude, All For One plastered a polite smile on his face despite the scorn writhing in his chest. "Hello! I'm Suzuran Ichidai!"

Short and simple. To the point. Done.

Apparently not.

"And?"

All For One, or rather Ichidai, directed a raised eyebrow to the sad excuse of a teacher. "'And,' what?"

"Your quirk. What is it and what does it do? Why don't you show off a bit, get it out of your system before we start class."

Ha! Yeah, no. That'd be a very bad idea.

"Ichidai" leveled the man with an unimpressed stare. "Do you want to be the one to explain to the principal and police why there's a ginormous hole in the side of the building? Because I just got here and I'd rather not get expelled on my first day."

The color in the teacher's face vanished like water down a drain. "Ah, ...In that case, feel free to take a seat. There should be an empty one at the back, next to the window."

"Thank you."

The words themselves were polite, but -had they been a tangible thing- the sheer amount of sarcasm laced within them could have killed the entire class.

Various students eyed him warily as he made his way down the isle leading to his seat and he rolled his own eyes. Clearly he'd made quite an impression. Good. Intimidated was better than curious. The fewer people he had around him, the better.

He didn't need anyone getting nosy and snooping around all up in his business.

As class finally started, he took his sweet time carefully assessing the quirks he could see around him. He knew what they were, of course; gaining access to Aldera's student records had been laughably easy. However, reading about something on a computer was very different from seeing said thing in person. More often than not, people tended to embellish or downplay things whenever they thought they could get away with it. Regardless of whether that was the case or the kids simply not knowing what their quirks were truly capable of, taking things at face value would have been incredibly foolish.

Out of twenty-nine quirks, twenty-two of them were heteromorphic and unusable to him anyway. Frog-throat, luminescent skin, and stretchy eyes? Unique, but certainly not useful.

Only seven quirks barely caught his interest. Pyrokinesis, wind manipulation, bodily evaporation, rapid muscle growth, explosions, telekinesis and molecular solidification; all of them had potential given the right conditions. Taking them now would only cause suspicion though.

Perhaps another time...

For now, he tuned out the miserable teacher's useless droning and gazed out the window. He was in for a boring year...

Or not.

The kid with the explosion quirk was loud, and not just because of his quirk either. His entire personality shouted, "Hey! Look at me!" in an arrogant, infuriating way. Sneering at people, taunting and degrading them, even going so far as to physically assault them; he was a class A example of a bully who thought he was God's gift to Man.

All of it -combined with the fact he never shut up about becoming the next Number 1 Hero- almost made All For One want to steal his quirk out of spite.

Though the kid certainly wasn't there yet, heroes just like Bakugo Katsuki were exactly the reason why he hated the current social climate. People glorified anyone with a conventionally strong quirk; they put them on a pedestal, dubbed them a "hero," and believed they could do no wrong when it couldn't be further than the truth. Sure, there may be a few genuinely good ones, but -at the core- Hero Society was as currupt as could be. Even now, after centuries, people still considered those with heteromorphic or so-called villainous quirks to be less than human.

Goodness forbid someone end up quirkless in this time period, because it might as well be death sentence.

Case and point being Midoriya Izuku's existence.

For the first few weeks, "Ichidai" bore witness to the systematic debasement and abuse his lone quirkless classmate went through. Day after day, people left ill-willed flowers on the timid boy's desk, destroyed his personal belongings, and shoved him around like an unwanted plaything. All while the teachers turned a blind eye to everything.

It stirred a fury in his gut he hadn't felt in a long time.

Wasn't this what he'd fought against, once upon a time? Perhaps not for the sole purpose of the vulnerable and less fortunate, but it'd been a rather large part of it... No one deserved to be harrassed over something they had no say in.

Everyone deserved to exist without feeling like they had no right to.

All For One's tolerance eventually ran out, and he snapped, "Good grief! Do you ever shut up?"

"Ha?"

Bakugou, as well as several startled others, turned to him upon realizing he was the one who'd spoken. Their reaction wasn't surprising, considering he'd barely said a lick of anything to anyone in the entire three weeks he'd shared classes with them so far.

"You wanna say that again, newbie?" Bakugo suggested threateningly, ditching Midoriya to sneer in Ichidai's face instead.

Ichidai wasn't impressed, sneering right back at the blond without issue. "No, I don't think I will. You heard me just fine, didn't you?"

He gasped and held a hand up to his chest dramatically as he widened his eyes in false surprise. "That is... unless you're deaf."

After all, an immunity or tolerance to one's own quirk was never a guarentee. Given what Bakugou's quirk was, it very well may have been the case for why he was so loud. If it was, ...well, All For One had never had any issues taking potshots at people, especially people he didn't particularly care for.

Unfortunately for Bakugou, he fell into that category.

Grinning smugly, Ichidai watched the blond briefly freeze before he was roughly grabbed by the collar and jerked out of his seat.

"You wanna die?" Bakugo snarled, "'Cause that's what's gonna happen if you go around spouting shit like that!"

"What are you; a rabid dog?" Ichidai asked condescendingly, grin transforming into something more akin to a baring of teeth. "Oh, wait- I take that back. You're more of an attention hound, aren't you? You're so used to having others cater to you and what you want that anything less than complete submissal rubs you the wrong way."

The sound of Bakugo's teeth creaking as they ground together was music to Ichidai's ears as he smiled wider. "Anything to say? Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong."

"Yeah! You are! Big time!"

"Really? Because I don't think I am."

Popping and crackling sparks burst from Bakugou's clenched fist and Ichidai laughed, "Oh no! I'm so scared! What're you going to do? Use your quirk on me?"

Bakugou went to swing his fist at Ichidai's face, only to be caught by the teacher's extended hand.

"Alright kids, that's enough," the poor excuse of an educator chastised them, "Back to your seats. Class is starting."

Ignoring the teacher, Bakugou sneered and ripped his arm out of the teacher's grip. He shot Ichidai a glare and Ichidai smiled innocently right back, like their entire spat hadn't just happened.

The sheer incandescent rage that encompassed Bakugou's face was almost enough to make Ichidai giggle.

However, the realization that the teacher had once again stopped a fight between two kids seemingly on the same playing field yet had let Bakugou rip into Midoriya like a primary schooler would a Christmas present soured Ichidai's mood.

Come lunchtime, Ichidai didn't bother leaving his seat. So busy brainstorming little ways he could inconvenience the people who'd annoyed him, he didn't even hear the bell. It was the feeling of being stared at and the sound of someone clearing their throat that caught his attention.

Ichidai looked away from the window and found Midoriya standing at his own desk a few feet away.

Midoriya fidgeted and stuttered, "I -uh, thanks for stepping in earlier. I really appreciate it."

"No problem," Ichidai shrugged. "Happy to do it. His voice was getting annoying, and the teacher didn't seem in all that much of a hurry to put an end to it."

"Do you...uh, want to get lunch together?"

Ichidai thought about it. While he didn't intend to make friends with anyone, it would seem strange if there wasn't at least one person he talked to on a regular basis. He guessed Midoriya would be as fine as any -if not better- company than the rest of the loud-mouthed children in their class.

At least he knew how to be quiet.

"You know what? Sure. I brought my own lunch, but I can meet you wherever you want once you get yours."

Midoriya deflated, likely mishearing him before he jerked back up. "Wait, ...yes? You said yes?"

"I did, yes," Ichidai assured him firmly.

Midoriya smiled at him so genuinely it almost took his breath away. Truly, his grin was so bright Ichidai had no doubt he'd have been blinded again had the other boy been capable of producing light with it.

"Great!" Midoriya swung his backpack over his shoulder and raced to the door, looking back to wave at him before he left the room. "I'll meet you by the koi pond in the front courtyard!"

Ichidai waved back as the door closed, slightly bewildered by his sheer enthusiasm.

"Yeah... I'll see you there."

Y/n was well aware she had let the drugs and the punch get the best of her at the party, embarrassed. She felt like Billy deserved to be thanked. She went up to him in the parking lot after school, the alpha waiting for his little sister as he lit another cigarette. “Hey.” He smirked. She got close and kissed him on the cheek, taking a large step back after. “Thanks for helping me on Saturday. I couldn’t think straight like that. It was awful.” 

“Any time sweetheart.” He winked, a tint coming to her cheeks. He liked that. It meant he was making progress. Billy noticed as time went on that the two omegas were getting bolder...more couple-y. He observed them reaching for one another’s hands more frequently. Steve was getting more confident about it, even wrapping his arms around her occasionally. 

“Steve?” 

“Hm?” 

“Wanna see a movie on Saturday?”

“God yes.” She giggled, giving him her applesauce. His parents were surprisingly home that weekend, Steve getting real sick of dealing with his dad constant reprimanding, his mom wine drunk and telling him he needed to find an alpha soon so she could start spoiling grandbabies. Steve just nodded or rolled his eyes, practically flying out the door at the sight of Y/n’s car in his driveway. He threw his arms around her when she got out of the car. “Thank god. It’s almost worse when they’re home.” She frowned, rubbing his back. “Steven! Get off of her!” His mom called, standing in the front doorway. She kissed his cheek, Steve smiling at the weird grunt his mom. They giggled and got in the car, Y/n driving off. Steve and Y/n shared a popcorn, not really paying attention to whatever they were supposed to be watching (some kind of horror movie. maybe) in favor of making out. The theater was pretty much empty, the pair thankful it was just betas and then one bonded alpha/omega pair, meaning they probably wouldn’t get harrassed by someone thinking they were hot or an abomination. “Steve, not so hard.” She hissed, Steve having nipped her bottom lip pretty hard. “Sorry.”

“It’s okay.” They left the movie a little worse for wear, lips swollen, lip gloss smeared on both of them, Y/n laughing and trying to help Steve when they got to the light. “I think you might just need to fix it yourself.” They did a quick pit stop to look like they hadn’t just been making out for the last two hours. Y/n took the backroads home, spotting a familiar blue car about three miles out of town. She slowed to a stop, seeing the hood open, Billy looking into it. “You need help?” He looked up, seeing his favorite couple staring at him. “No.” She shrugged and took a little detour, finding a mechanic and telling them where Billy was. She followed just in case. He was still struggling when they got back. “Do you like him?” Steve asked, suddenly worried. He wasn’t an alpha. What if she left him, just like Nancy? Was he not enough? Was he not smart enough? Big enough? Man enough? “I’m just being nice.” Her voice pulled him out of the spiral of thoughts. “I...tolerate him. Maybe even like him like this much.” She held up her hand, her pointer finger and thumb practically touching. “It’s just ‘cause he was nice to me when I needed it, Steve.” She leaned over and kissed Steve’s nose, interlocking her fingers with his. He has to admit he loved when she was super physical with him, soothing him a little. “You sure you don’t need that ride, amigo?” He huffed and got in her back seat, Y/n and Steve driving a silent Billy to the mechanic’s shop. Steve was pouting in the front seat, Y/n trying to ignore him. They sat with Billy, playing black jack while they waited. “I wanna deal this time.” Steve begged, Billy rolling his eyes and pushing the stack of cards over to him. “You’re a priss, you know that Harrington?” Steve didn’t say anything to them, grumbling under his breath, Y/n laughing when she caught ‘at least I can get an omega to suck my dick.’ Billy won most of the rounds, Y/n’s cards almost perfect whenever she won, basically just watching Billy take on a good five cards before they showed their cards. “Hargrove?” Billy got up and took care of his car. “You wanna go get dinner?” Y/n asked Billy, holding Steve’s hand tightly. “Sure.”

They all met up at what used to be Benny’s diner. “So why were you out that far from town?”

“Had a date.” She nodded, turning her attention to Steve. Billy felt like an intruder to the soft spoken and probably tender hearted conversation they were having. She kissed his cheek, Steve wrapping an arm around her and pulling her closer. She dropped her head on his shoulder. “So I assume you two are a couple.” Steve nodded. He whispered something to Y/n, whose face tinted slightly before nodding. “My house is empty for the night. Wanna get this stuff to go?” The boys agreed, Y/n leading the way, Billy following a little too close for comfort. It was late at this point, most of the neighborhoods lights off. Steve sipped on his milkshake while she unlocked the door, not liking how close behind her the alpha was. They sat around the kitchen table, Y/n snorting when Steve relayed what he and Dustin had talked about at three in the morning that day. “That’s terrible advice Steve.” He looked confused. “How are girls supposed to know you’re interested when you act like you don’t care about them? I bet it works with most alphas, but in general, doesn’t make sense.” She critiqued. “Well it worked on you didn’t it?” 

“I don’t think that counts.” Billy had been quiet the entire time, taking their dynamic. She was more submissive than he’d ever seen her, Billy taking pride in the realization that he got under her skin all the time. She seemed to take the lead with Steve, especially in Billy’s presence, but was clearly unsure of herself, hesitant with certain touches. Billy wondered as she fed Steve a fry if she’d be submissive to him. He got up, picking up his plate, her jumping up to take it immediately. “Do you need something to drink?” She asked Steve, who shook his head. She took plates to the kitchen, the boys moving a little closer as she got up. 

“So how did you get another omega to date you, pretty boy?” He pinked at the nickname like always. He shrugged. “We just kept hanging out and then one day we were making out on my couch.” The blond nodded, twisting one of his rings. “What was up with you at practice today, man? You seemed...unfocused.” Steve bristled a little and Billy knew the reason practice had gone the way it did was because he was making as much contact with Steve as often as he could. The omega had tripped over his own feet when Billy’s hand ‘accidentally’ grazed his thigh. “You weren’t any help.” Steve was right. Billy had also been shit at practiced, more focused on getting to the omega than he was actually getting practice in. Y/n came back to their faces a few inches from each other, a certain look on Steve’s face. She came to stand behind him, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Do it.” She told him in a whisper. “Really?” He whipped his head up to look at her, her nodding. “I’m right here if you need something.” She promised. “Just make sure you take my comforter off my bed I don’t know how to get slick off of that.” She kissed his cheek and went to the couch, turning on the tv. She heard thudding footsteps as the boys tripped over themselves to get up stairs, Y/n later finding a boot on one of the steps when she went to get water. She sat on the couch, finding cheers, the added noise of her headboard tapping the wall upstairs making her smile. About an hour and a half later, pink faced Steve came down the stairs, his shirt backwards, only wearing one sock, shoes in hand. “Hey Billy’s gonna take me home.” 

“Okay. Honey your shirts on backwards.” She chuckled, Billy coming down the stairs as she helped him fix it. “Good night.” She kissed Steve, him kissing her nose. Billy found his other boot and walked into the kitchen where she was washing out a mug. He found her waist, setting her down on the counter a foot away from the sink. “I didn’t get any time with you, sweetheart.” He purred, one hand gripping her thigh, the other holding her close to him. He smirked at the heat that rose to her skin, lips going under her chin to her throat, sucking gently. She gripped his shoulders, her legs wrapping around him before she could stop herself. He nipped, her moaning softly. “S-stop.” She protested softly, hands going to his hair. She tugged, Billy groaning into her neck. “Please get off.” She whined,  pushing his shoulders gently. He stopped, looking at her curiously. “Another time.” She said meekly, not knowing if Steve was okay with this. He kissed her, her kissing back for a moment before pushing him all the way off. “Bye.” She said softly after he helped her off the counter. Billy watched her straighten her clothes, following out of the kitchen. “Don’t have too much fun.” She teased Steve, knowing one of the boys wasn’t actually going home tonight. He nodded. Y/n watched Billy guide  Steve out the door, hand firmly planted on his ass. Steve was going to have a lot to tell her about in the morning.

Dear Destiny community,

“freak”, “slut”, “pedo”, “all cops should die”, “disgrace for Cayde”, “attention whore”, “liar”, “kill yourself”, is just a handful of things I had to read about me in the last days (once again). Why? Well, I don’t know exactly either. It could be because I love Cayde-6 (a little bit too much), that some people in the fandom are comfortable with calling me “mom”, or that I’ve did a overly sexy Mara Sov cosplay months ago. I honestly don’t know. Maybe it’s neither of these reasons and just pure hate. Either way, no one deserves to hear such things about themselves. No one. I’ve joined the Destiny fandom half a year ago after bad experiences in my old community, but that’s another long story. I felt good about the Destiny fandom. I felt so lonely with my love for Cayde and it was like a new start. My posts of him blew up quickly and I would say I became one of the popular blogs fast? Nothing wrong in that, but I feel like many of the other blogs took it wrong somehow, because I was “everywhere”. So it ended up that some folks started a riot against me, talking others into unfollowing me, no matter if they knew me or not. That was that. It happened and sure it made me kinda upset that people judged me by things others said about me, but I got over it. Then the next thing happened. Cosplay. The Mara Sov cosplay, or “cosplay” how some people wrote. Yes, it was a overly sexy version of it, obviously. I only did it because nsfw Destiny blogs I really liked talked me into it back then. I’ve thought it could be fun and so I did it. If I knew what drama it would cause I’d have never done it. It was tagged “nsfw” for a reason, but still I got blamed that kids could see it in the tags and that I’m... well a freak and should kill myself. First of all Tumblr isn’t for kids, we all know that. At least back then it wasn’t. So, I just announced that I might take a hiatus for health reasons soon and like on purpose many messages reached me that another Destiny blog, one that started the hate because of the Mara cosplay btw, throw a fit again because of said cosplay I’ve posted months ago, saying that I lied about all the death threats that reached me and that I’m a “pedo” because people in the fandom are being comfortable with calling me mom. I just thought it’s kinda cute so that I put it in my description. And that’s the whole story. I don’t have a cult or anything. I simply just thought that pervy space mom is cute and fits me well. That’s all. I might be pervy. What’s wrong with being pervy? I’m okay with my sexuality and no one should be ashamed for that, especially not on such a open-minded page like Tumblr, right? Ironically the bully played the victim in the end. I stand for reporting that blog to the support and nothing you can say will change my mind. Bullies shouldn’t feel comfortable harrassing others and especially no one should believe that this kind of behaviour is alright, normal and tolerated. If you shame me for speaking up and reporting a bully you’re sadly part of the problem. I’ve dealt with bullying and calumny enough, no matter if reallife or “just” online. Just because I’m behind a screen doesn’t mean that these things I have to read about me hurt less, you know? I’m still a human with feelings. Maybe you can’t identify because you never been through that yourself, but I’m sure every victim agrees with me here. Let’s come to our sweet Cayde. It’s no secret that I love him, right? Like, really love him. Just like many other wonderful people on this site too. I know my Cayde thirst gave me a reputation, good and bad. Some people love me for it, others as you can see hate me for it. But I never defined my love for him just being sexual, so don’t judge a book by its cover. Ironically other nsfw Cayde blogs never dealt with being called out like that, so it continues to be a mystery why people decided to target only me. It’s unfortunate that it made some fans uncomfortable and gave them a bad impression for me, but I never had any bad intentions. Believe me when I say that Cayde means so much to me. Doesn’t matter if I’m 26 and a cop, or whatever. I’ve been through a lot of shit in the past half year, especially healthwise, and he was truly my light (wow cheesy). Hearing or most likely reading that he doesn’t deserve me and that I’m a disgrace just hurts. Please stop making me or other fans in general feel bad for loving a fictional character. To some of us they mean a lot, sometimes even everything. Don’t take that away from anyone. Let’s come to an end. Please believe me when I say that I’m tired of it. Tired of all the drama, getting blamed for things I never did, getting blamed for loving Cayde, being thirsty for him, doing a cosplay for fun, or simply existing here. MCU Rewatch: Spider-Man: Homecoming

(Doctor Strange isn’t making my life easy and I can’t wait for him right now lol so Spider-Man it is! I WILL include DS in this rewatch, though. At some point)

It’s really cool that the drawing tips us off that the Vulture has a daughter right on the first scene.

I feel like the second scene, though... is unnecessary. Like, seeing the Vulture with his suit kind of kills the impact of seeing him during the movie. We already know he’s up to no good - we didn’t need the extra scene.

Peter’s vlog is really cute.

“I don’t know how jobs work” is such a great dialogue. lol

Ok, I have a lot of... mildly negative feelings about several choices in this movie, but it’s hard to complain about the casting because of all the racist backlash it got for being diverse, and I don’t want to add to this chorus by any means. Still... the fact that Flash just doesn’t look like a popular douchebag really kills the effect of his scenes, to me. Like... couldn’t they find an actor that was, I don’t know, a little bit taller than Tom Holland? He looks like someone who would totally sit at Peter and Ned’s table at lunch, not like a bully that’s been harrassing Peter for years. There certainly were ways of keeping these aspects of the character and still having a non-white actor, I think.

Just... stop making people point out Aunt May is young and pretty. I get it, it’s a meta joke because we’re used to having her be an old lady, but boy is it annoying.

I do love the detail of Peter saving the cat.

This is the movie where my Happy annoyance goes off the chart. Shut up, Happy. He’s doing the best he can and all you do is dismiss him at every turn.

May totally thinks Peter and Ned are fucking, doesn’t she? lol

Laura Harrier, otoh, is perfect casting. She’s so pretty and she just really has the air of Liz’s general high school archetype. 

See, this Vulture arrival could have been so cool if we hadn’t been shown the suit in the first few minutes of the movie.

I feel like the fact that Tony handles Peter in the worst possible way in this movie (”because I said so” is soooo not an argument you should throw in a discussion with anyone, but especially not a teenager) is both something I like because I feel makes sense for his character and that frustrates me because it’s another thing his fandom just ignores.

“I thought it was the anti-gravity gun” really dude? Isn’t this scene supposed to show us how ruthless you are? This... is such a weird line that kind of totally undemines that.

“I just wanna thank you for letting me be a part of your journey” Ned is my favorite part of this movie. lol

Thinking about Flash... I feel like maybe the thing is that Flash here isn’t supposed to be cool at all, and it’s just that this version of Peter Parker is not an unpopular bullied kid, but a regular kid who’s actually well-liked by most of his classmates except this one asshole dude who no one else really likes? Which, sure, I mean, it’s a valid story to tell, but it’s just... not that appealing to me. I feel like Peter is not enough of the underdog in this movie, most of the time.

The scene where he stalls with Karen is really fun, though. lol

The scene at the Washington Monument is also really great. Lots of tension and really fun.

I fucking love how awkward Steve looks in those PSAs. I also love that he straddles the chair, because it’s such a non-Steve thing to do, so it really seems like he’s just trying to be cool, like “this is how kids sit these days, right?”.

Also, the director is Morita’s descendant, right? I hope the government was like “stop playing these PSAs” and he was just like “fuck that noise” and kept playing anyway in Morita’s memory.

“I got a nephew who lives here” I’m waiting, MCU.............. give us the pay off we deserve.

I have so many mixed feelings about the scene with Tony. On one hand, I get that this is supposed to be low point of the movie, so Peter screwing up makes sense, but... Tony, couldn’t you have TOLD him you had called the FBI? Why did you just say “yeah yeah, whatever, someone else will handle it” and then not update him about serious shit that HE had discovered? It’s weird, because I feel like Tony is framed as correct here by the narrative, and I really don’t think he is.

I do like the “and I wanted you to be better” line.

Peter and Liz are super cute. And the montage of May preparing Peter to prom is also adorable.

The Vulture reveal still works. It’s a GREAT moment.

“prototype for Cap’s new shield” is a line the Stony fandom has absolutely not taken enough advantage off. Tony just sitting around making Steve new shields? Even though they’re not talking? I live.

I... really dislike how Peter’s Big Hero moment is made to be about the whole “being nothing without the suit” thing. This... just isn’t his narrative? It just feels like the movie is taking Tony’s narrative and imposing it over Peter, and it feels like something we’ve already seen.

And the last scene... Part of me likes that Tony is like “that was totally a tough love moment that you needed, right? right????” because it shows a little how he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but I wish he had apologized. And the fact that he’s got the reporters room ready to go, when, by the Accords, he’d NEED to make Peter remove his mask... I don’t know, I really don’t like a lot of the narrative choices made with Tony in this movie. I think on this aspect, it’s worse than Ultron.

LOL AND THERE IS THE PROPOSAL. The world’s most awkward, anticlimatic proposal. Honestly, as a Stony shipper, I kind of love it, because it’s so bad it becomes incredibly easy to write around.

 Aaaand it’s over. Ngl, this is among my least favorite MCU movies. It just... doesn’t... touch me in any particular way? Like, I like a few things about it, but the overall narrative just doesn’t grab me. It’s not a BAD movie, but it’s a little... Meh.

First of all, you don't have to tell everyone you are conservative. I am not telling you not to, but as you are alone against everyone and it sounds like it's already getting to your mental health, please PLEASE take care of yourself. You are in a tough situation. 1. I will give you the same advice I gave to my other anon with their racist teacher: take notes of the insults. All of them. With name, date and hour. Especially the kind of insult about how you and your family.

So that when you report the harrassment you're a victim of, you have something solid, and they won't have anything, except "waaaahhh they're white and I heard they were conservative :((((" which is nothing. Nothing at all.

Because believe me, after a while of taking careful notes of the awful insults you get in the face, with date and hour and name, and it's printed on a paper you give to someone in charge, it makes it so much realer. It's solid.

2. Be discreet, anon. I am sorry to tell you this, but I say this because it sounds like you're in a tough situation, and I'd say don't be the one who starts an argument in your class. That said, do defend yourself.

3. Find allies. Allies can be anyone who likes you enough and either agrees with you on a few things, or couldn't care less about your political views. Find allies who won't give you shit for your opinions, and who you can safely talk about all of that. And potential allies will help when the harrassment is exposed.

4. When you do report the harrassment, don't be the one who mentions race or politics. Because, in an art school, I am sure that if you make it a matter of race or politics, you're screwed. Make it a matter of interpersonal relationships. Because they are going to defend themselves making it about race and politics. And you will have to remind everyone that no matter these off-topic disagreements, nobody should call you and your family dumb.

5. Take care of your mental health and remember that you're right. In a school like yours, no matter the race, nobody holds privilege over the others and everyone can do something of themselves. They hate you because they see you as a threat. So please anon, remember you're amazing, and you have a future, and those things are not going to matter anymore when you get your degree and a job. Keep shining, find allies and friends if you can, have a breather, take care of yourself.

In this time of Tumblr being, well, Tumblr, I think it’s good time to sit down and change the meaning of term “forced diversity.” Because Tumblr has a reputation of being over-zealous about whatever its people are standing for to the point of harrasing people for reason they do not deserve and ruining their reputation and lifes, in the name of being accepting and ““““tolerant”“”” about minor groups like LBGTA+ and non-caucasian/non-white

Let me clarifyi:

Old meaning:

Term used by usually -phopic or racist people who do not accept whenever a media creators, such as movie makers, comic artists and writers add characters, who’re other than straight and white (and usually men), in their content. Especially if the media hasn’t had these groups before for whatever reasons

New meaning:

When someone who’s not part of creating the canon content (a member of a fandom, for example) changes the canon traits of a character into something else they clearly are not, like their ethnicity or other feature that’s canonically been confirmed. Does not include headcanons about something that’s not been specified by canon, like if character’s sexuality hasn’t been named or clarified.

This is pretty much the same thing as “tumblrfying” something. I want to bring this up because I’ve seen fandoms where people take the canon character and change them into something else they clearly are not, like turning clearly white person into black even when absolutely nothing says they are other than caucasian. And I don’t mean to say this in racist way, because diversity is good and I love if there’s other characters than just cookie-cut white straight neurotypical men.

But when you’re changing a character into something they’re clearly not, you’re just making yourself look like a fool. They can be trans if not otherwise stated, they can be gay or autistic if not otherwise said!

Have your headcanons! You’re allowed!

But something like race cannot be headcanoned. But there’s people in Tumblr who’re obsessed switching them from white to other, and don’t even flinch an eye at it when they’re editing the character’s skin color to dark, but don’t change any other features. And in result the character ends up looking really, really bad design. (If you want to have fun with this, remember to change other ethnic features too if you please. The design makes more sense then)

I’ll make an example of Team Fortress 2 because I’ve seen this a lot in the fandom lately and how people present it makes me hate the fandom for it

First of all, that’s absolutely horrible edit. You can’t just slap the different color of skin on the person and call it a day. It doesn’t work that way and you’ll have horrible thing in your hands in the end. It’s ugly and looks very unatural. Not to mention, you made a character who already is black even darker. His ethnicity won’t change to any more diverse by making him darker when he already is black. Like seriously.

Now the problem is not that very should not have diverse, non-white-straight-male characters. This is what I mean by changing the meaning forced diversity. You are on purpose changing the features and traits of a character into something else in the name of diversity.

And like I said, yes the character can be non-cis-het because you can’t see those things from the outside. But then there’s this: People who start a riot, if a lesbian character is given a male partern in shipping manner, suddenly change a male character into gay - and very often explicitly gay and gay only- even when in canon they have had a woman partner or love interest. Now that doesn’t mean they’re entirely straight, bi/pan/poly people exist. But people will terminate you if you don’t agree with their headcanon of the character being explicitly gay. If you want to agree with canon, but want to make them be non-straight, make the character bi/pan/poly!

And the worst part about this whole thing is? The fandom, who wants the community being open and welcoming and friendly for everyone, they surely do bully and harras and mock people who don’t agree with something they made up themselves. You can’t just decide “hey it doesn’t say like this in original source, but I believe this character is [insert minority] and if you don’t agree you’re -phobic and horrible person!!!!” and feel like you’ve done the good work. I see a lot of actually good and sweet and very accepting people getting harrassed and bullied by people who claim to be fighting for good and more accepting environment, ruining the lifes and well-being of content creators who don’t deserve it. Just because you came up with an idea and others who didn’t know about it are now toxic ones. When in reality it’s you.

I’m pretty sure most of these people who make such edits and then make blacklists about Tumblr users are just trolls and they should be ignored. But they can be just as harmful as people who take the Social Justice Warrior title too far, to the point of rather harming than fixing anything. They speard filthy rumors of good artists and people don’t even do fact checking, sending more hate and shit on them and ruining their possible good future as artist, or even their mental health. For rumors that aren’t accurate at all.

It’s disgusting to see people even make BLOGS and DISCORD SERVERS specifically to hate and mock people. Seriously. People create platforms to hate something they could just avoid by blacklisting, blocking or simply ignoring and looking away. And then they blame the artist for making them uncomfortable by whatever reason. Like it’s the basic rule and etiquette of Internet: If it has a warning of something you don’t want to see, don’t look. Blacklists exist to keep your dash clean from content you don’t like. Block users you don’t want to see. Unfollow someone making the content appear on your dash. Blacklist the tags or possible trigger words. If you don’t like it, don’t look. Don’t throw the shit on someone who created something else you don’t agree with. You have all the power of using the Internet and you choose to complain about seeing something you could avoid of seeing? Shame on you, not on them.

No, I’m not saying there shouldn’t be more diverse characters. No, I don’t say you should stop making other than white cis-hets. No I got absolutely nothing against other groups of people.

I have a problem with those people, who harras others for sake of their own headcanons and in need to be more superior than others in the community. You can have headcanons. But remember that they’re still headcanons. And people don’t have to agree or think in the same way as you do.

And that’s why I’d like to start using term “forced diversity” in it’s new meaning.
