it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

a/n: so hi! uhm this is is my first work on here, so feedback and constructive criticism is welcomed! english is not my first language, so sorry if there's some mistakes. wrote this with female reader in mind, but there's no actual description of reader except reader loving christmas. i wrote it yesterday, on actual 1st of december, since i started counting days to christmas. also i was craving some winter coziness and nate. mild inspiration from gossip girl 5.02 where we have a scene of Nate baking or trying to.

It was December 1st, one of your favorite days of the year. You loved how the cold month of December was actually so cozy due to the warmth of holiday spirit. You also loved first day of this month because it meant that you could finally take a breather after thanksgiving that most of the times was filled with drama. This year your family was meeting at your grandma's house in Connecticut and thankfully it was calm and you managed to avoid uncomfortable questions from your family, yet you still were a bit tired and thanked the universe that you were on your way to your boyfriend's place already.

You came into the suite, the doors were unlocked. You were greeted with the sight of living room arranged in holiday theme. Lights were dimmed, the windows were sprayed with snow form the can. The red couch was full of beige cushions, white fuzzy blankets sprawled out all over it, you couldn't even see the original red upholstery. The coffee table was moved closer to tv so there was more space on the carpet which, was covered with more pillows and blankets. Frank Sinatra's christmas songs were playing softly from speakers. Everything was perfect, except your boyfriend wasn't in sight.

"Nate!" you called taking of your coat. No answer so you decided to check the kitchen. There he was, wearing one of his flannels, leaning to kitchen counter, very focused on something. You didn't want to scare him and interrupt in whatever culinary task he was at, but he didn't even heard you coming in, so it was too good opportunity to pass up.

"Boo!!" you called, wrapping your arms around his waist. First you heard a small splash, then him.

"Y/N! Geez you scared me!" he exclaimed with a sigh, easying into your touch and turning in your hold so he could face you.

"Hi" you said after you stared in each others eyes for a while.

"Hi" he answered smiling, then he kissed you lovingly. He hasn't seen you for the past three days and you felt that in his kiss. You would gladly continue, but you're were also curious about the set up in the living room.

"What was that?" you asked after you pulled back.

"What?"

"What made this splash? And what is this situation in living room?" Nate stepped aside so you could see the kitchen counter.

"Natieeee, you're making us hot chocolate?"

"Yeah, and I was in the process of deciding whether to put couple of mini marshmallows on top or to put a giant one and cover it with cream when someone decided to scare me."

"Oh so you were measuring which one looked better, and I made you drop the big marshmallow in my mug?"

"Yeah that's exactly what happened" Nate gestured to your mug and milk that spilled over the side of glass.

"And the living room?"

"I wanted to welcome my baby home with a cozy Christmas date"

"Nate sweetie..."

"It's no big deal y/n, I know how much you love holiday cheer".

"You spoil me".

"I'm your boyfriend!" he chuckled "And I've been waiting to spoil you since you left for thanksgiving, how was it by the way?"

"Good actually, but I missed my boo" you said hugging him. He kissed your forehead.

"I missed you too" he said, smiling into your hair. "Sooo this hot chocolate serving is kind of a fail but I guess it'll do" he pulled back from you to put your glasses on small tray. "Shall we?" you nodded and followed your boyfriend out of the kitchen.

"Nate this is so beautiful, you did this by yourself?"

"Well, Blair brought me the blankets and cushions. But I set everything up". He smiled proud with himself.

"Okay I'm gonna test your cooking skills now" you said taking a sip of chocolate and let a small moan. "Oh my god"

"I passed I suppose" said Nate taking a sip from his mug.

"Damn right you did it's so good" you sighed. "The only thing missing is Christmas tree, but apart from that it's perfect, my big marshmallow" you leaned to Nate and kissed his cheeks and then nose.

"You're so cute, I can't even" Nate said, laughing when you kissed his nose again. "Actually Christmas tree is not here yet because I thought you'd want to decorate it together"

"You're outdoing yourself Nate, I would love to". Nate smiled and kissed you quickly.

"Oh and I got us a couple of Christmas movies, I didn't know what you'd be in a mood for, but we could also just sit together without a movie if you want" he said getting up from the floor.

"You have something form Disney?"

"Christmas Carol and this Beauty and the Beast christmas movie you like".

"Oh, Beauty and the Beast please"

"Whatever you want" Nate smiled and put the cd in. "Move to the couch?"

"Yes please".

You were few minutes into the movie, mugs with chocolate empty now, snuggled together in tons of blankets, but you'd be fine with just Nate since he was always warm. He had package of marshmallows in one hand and his right hand was playing with your hair. You loved it, it always made you feel safe. You could doze off when something disturbed your peace.

"Natie?" you put your head up from his chest. "Don't you feel something burning?"

Nate's brows scrunched and then he realized.

"Oh shit my fudge brownies!"

You didn't even bat an eye, when he untangled himself from blankets and run to the kitchen. You laughed at your boyfriend and then smiled to yourself, beyond grateful that you had Nate and you would make more memories with him while counting days to Christmas.
