Trump Names Fox News Host Pete Hegseth to Head Pentagon, John Ratcliffe for CIA
Most important bits quoted below.
If confirmed by the Senate, Hegseth would take over the federal government’s biggest department with a budget that last year reached $850 billion, overseeing a workforce of nearly three million civilian workers and military service members, many deployed around the world. He has never held a senior government post, an issue likely to be raised at least by Democrats ahead of a vote on his nomination. Hegseth, 44, is a National Guard veteran from Minnesota who has been a commentator on Fox News for the past decade. He once led an advocacy group that sought to privatize healthcare provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs, leading Trump to consider him as VA secretary during his first term.
This is such a fucking shitshow. It's just gonna be full of dumb, incompetent loyalists. A god-damn Major is going to be in charge of the Pentagon, with no credentials other than:
Sucking up to and worshiping Trump on TV for a decade
Wanting to break up and privatize the VA, because veterans totally deserve to deal with private insurance companies
God damn.

I know you already got an anon sometime ago saying the Deadpool and Wolverine fight in the car's got Colorkiller vibes and while I see that, I think that can coexist with Delta vs Stage 2 Killer as well using the "insecure Killer in Stage 2 fucks with Delta so he can distance him from Color" concepts for context.
Obviously Delta is Wolverine and Stage 2 would be in Deadpool's place.
The visual is fucking hilarious to me and I think the scene could use some sarcasm from Delta as well like "Oh yes, I have ALWAYS WANTED TO FIGHT YOU IN A HONDA ODYSSEY, KILLER, THANKS A LOT. Could never have done this WITHOUT YOU!"
-- Sarco
By this point Killer has fought everyone in that Honda civic. Cross, Dust, Color, Delta. Although it definitely would fit with either Color or Delta a lot more; Color in the early days, or Delta in the present.
Mostly because I doubt Killer would truly care enough about either Cross or Dust to provoke them into a fight except for amusement or some other purpose he gains from this—such as allowing himself to be their punching bag so they can feel better and therefore work better. (Dust would probably register as more of a threat then Cross would though 💀)
It may be like hate sex on their end, but for him this is a brief moment of entertainment or utility to maintain group functioning and before he forgets about it later and is unable to tell if it was actually real or not. (I guess you can say…Killer fights around. /ref)
And since everyone seems very insistent that the Honda civic is violent hot gay hate sex scene, hate sex would apply with Killer and Delta because bro does not give a shit about Cross or Dust enough to hate them as individuals.
Things they do might annoy or make him uncomfortable—because they both have potential to make him think of things he doesn’t want to think about (Papyrus, heart locket, scarf) or people he actually hates and fears (Chara)—but with Delta.
He hates Delta on a personal level. While Cross and Dust makes him think of the past, Delta makes him scared of the future. His future and the uncertainty of it, of how he could easily lose it. Have it taken and stolen from him.
Delta represents an obstacle and threat to his hope, Dust and Cross are reminders of his torment—which he is always compelled to either gain control over (in whatever form he thinks he has to) or avoid and ignore/ be indifferent towards.
They have beef. Thats his biggest rival. He’s gonna turn him into orange paste one day.
Anyway: I like the idea of Honda civic fight with Killer. Not because of the gay asf violence, but because I love Killer being a bitch. A masochistic bitch at that.
And also I love him being a manipulative little shit, purposely provoking someone into acting dehumanizing and abusive towards him—especially people like Delta. Especially if it means driving a wedge between Delta and Color.

what is msmc? im kinda out of the loop
Huh, I guess we never really explained that too well in our intro post, did we. Welp! Doesn't hurt to educate the newbies.
According to the Lancer Core Rulebook, pg. 411:
"A pan-galactic mercenary organization known for its low rates, broad portfolio, and civic legitimization service, the Mirrorsmoke Mercenary Company (MSMC) is formally incorporated as a “grayspace” private military company. No job is too big or too small, as long as a Union state in good standing will call it legal."
In short, there are a whole bunch of mercenary companies scattered across the world of Lancer, and MSMC is one of the larger ones (referred to in the Core Rules as a "notable non-state actor" - i.e., a smaller company than the Big 4 and Union that is nevertheless widely known across the galaxy). Best known for its terrifying legal teams and reputation as the "garbage men of the galaxy", MSMC is the company you call when nobody else will do your job for you.
There are 999 mercenary squadrons employed under MSMC, each with a numerical designation and a few nicknames apiece. This blog catalogues the adventures of MSMC-796 "Heaven's Fury", consisting of the mercenaries Angel (that's me!), Slipshod, and Lockbreaker. By association, we've kind of become the de facto voice of MSMC among the Lancer community on Tumblr, though there are other MSMC-affiliated blogs out there if you poke around a bit.
As of our interactions with them, MSMC-796 has made good friends with a fanmade mercenary group known as CORSAIR Mercenary Company, or CMC (found at @corsair-mc-official). The Core Rules list a few other named mercenary companies from the world of Lancer, such as The Golden Hand and Goblin Throne Industrial (GTI), but to our current knowledge, neither of these companies have an official Omninet (that is, Tumblr) account just yet.
So yeah, that's us! Hopefully this helped explain some things.
-- Angel

The United Kingdom just been downgraded on the global index of civic freedoms due to it's "Hostile" and "Increasingly authoritarian" actions.
I live in the UK. And I found this out by factchecking a green peace ad. As of now this story was posted 16 hours ago and I've not heard one person talk about this.
Our government is officially recognised as repressing civic freedoms and undermining human rights. If you're still proud to be brittish then fuck you tory scum.

New rule: Mainstream news hosts/pundits owe me $100 every time they quote or cite a working class person who voted for Trump because they're coNcErNed aBouT tHe eConOmy without adding the helpful clarification that
A presidential administration inherits the economy of the one before it and first-term Trump left a fucking shambles which we have macro-economy bounced back on but not in a way that would be felt without directly taking on corporate price-gouging WHICH THE BIDEN ADMIN HAS BEEN TRYING ITS BEST TO DO.
TARIFFS WILL NOT LOWER PRICES, YOU FUCKING WALNUTS. (Sorry, that's insulting to walnuts, a good and noble nut and also the name of the murderous crane who married a human zookeeper.) YOU FUCKING FREEZERBURNED EGGO WAFFLES. (There, that's better.)

Good News - July 1-7
Like these weekly compilations? Tip me at $Kaybarr1735! And if you tip me and give me a way to contact you, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week!
1. Footage reveals 'miracle eagle chick' in flight
Tumblr media
“In an unprecedented display of extended eagle parenting, the two white-tailed parents skipped this year's breeding season to continue to tend to their year-old offspring. The youngster's wing was broken when the nest fell to the ground during unseasonably wild weather last year. […] The fully-grown chick was being fed fish by its parents, caring behaviour that the eagle expert described as “unprecedented” for the birds. […] “If an immature bird was to reappear near its nesting parents or any other pair the following year [after dispersing], it would likely be aggressively chased away. That’s why this is so exceptional.””
2. Rare wild horses back on Kazakhstan’s Golden Steppe after being saved from extinction
Tumblr media
“For the first time in at least 200 years, wild Przewalski's horses have returned to Kazakhstan’s Golden Steppe. [...] Przewalski's horses are considered the last truly wild horse left on the planet as other species like the American Mustang are descended from domesticated animals. The species were once common across the vast steppes of Central Asia. [...] The zoo will also be sending some Przewalski’s to Mongolia in 2026 where a reintroduction programme has seen their population boom to well over 850 animals.”
3. For one Austin summer camp, public transit is part of the adventure
Tumblr media
“[... “O]ver 90% of the kids will tell you that their favorite part of ATX Kids Club is riding the bus.” That’s the program’s goal: getting kids to have fun on public transit so they’ll grow up using it. The nonprofit’s summer camp, which takes kids ages 4 to 12 on field trip “adventures” around the city, uses Capital Metro buses as its main form of transportation. [...] Before camp, [the field trip leader] said, he believed in stereotypes about transit being dirty and “scary” — but his experience with Austin’s bus system has been the opposite so far.”
4. Brazil Prevents Meta from Using People to Power Its AI
Tumblr media
“[…P]ersonal photos of Brazilian children are used to build powerful AI tools without their knowledge or consent. In turn, others use these tools to create malicious deepfakes, putting even more children at risk of harm. […] The Brazilian government’s decision is a powerful, proactive move to protect people’s data privacy in the face of swiftly evolving uses and misuses of AI. Yesterday’s action especially helps to protect children from worrying that their personal data, shared with friends and family on Meta’s platforms, might be used to harm them in ways that are impossible to anticipate or guard against.”
5. Ambitious Living Shoreline Project Combats Coastal Land Loss in South Carolina
Tumblr media
“Living shorelines stabilize coastlines by reducing the impacts of waves and rising sea levels. They are made of materials that promote the growth of marsh grasses and commercially important species like oysters and crabs. […C]oastal sites could offset almost 80 percent of tidal habitat loss with careful conservation and management. […] Young people in this AmeriCorps program receive training, a living stipend, an education award, and connections to potential employers.”
6. Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge announces proposal to modernize water infrastructure
Tumblr media
“Under the refuge’s proposal, the Service would improve 4,400 feet of an earthen water delivery ditch, rehabilitate 1,200 feet of Upper Lake Dam, develop 100 feet of new diversion channel into critical nesting habit for federally endangered southwestern willow flycatcher, modernize current water monitoring stations and improve 640 feet of the Pahranagat Ditch Drain. […] The improvements will result in significant habitat improvements for multiple bird species, [… and] also enhance flood control holding capabilities of the Upper Lake for the Pahranagat Valley.”
7. New chemical process separates textile fibers for easier recycling
Tumblr media
“A combined team of chemical and biomolecular engineers [... have] developed a way to chemically separate fibers in textiles, allowing them to be recycled more quickly and cheaply than conventional methods. [... T]hey found they could break apart the textiles in as little as 15 minutes. They also noted that the process [breaks down polyester and spandex into] organic compound[s] that could conceivably be used to create more polyester. [... T]he material integrity of both the nylon and the cotton were retained, suggesting they could be used to make new batches of clothes.”
8. Pongamia trees grow where citrus once flourished, offering renewable energy and plant-based protein
Tumblr media
“[Some Floridian] farmers are turning to the pongamia tree, a climate-resilient tree with the potential to produce plant-based proteins and a sustainable biofuel. […] Pongamia trees also don't need fertilizer or pesticides. They flourish in drought or rainy conditions. And they don't require teams of workers to pick the beans. […] The legume is now being used to produce several products, including Panova table oil, Kona protein bars and protein flour. The legumes also produce oil that can be used as a biofuel, largely for aviation, which leaves a very low carbon footprint[….]”
9. Trans candidate celebrates receiving more votes than anti-trans campaigner Posie Parker
Tumblr media
“An independent trans candidate says that she hopes receiving more total votes than anti-trans campaigner Posie Parker at the general election will show trans children that they are loved. […] Bristol Central was won by Green Party’s out bisexual co-leader Carla Denyer, while Parker received just 196 votes, equal to 0.5 per cent[….] Elsewhere, trans candidate Sophie Molly secured 225 votes standing as an independent at the other end of the country, in Aberdeen South[….]”
10. Ohio zoo celebrates birth of critically endangered western lowland gorilla
Tumblr media
“The Columbus Zoo said the gorilla was born June 29 and first-time mother Sue is "very attentive and providing excellent care to her little one, who she nuzzles and cradles closely." […] “With tiny hands and beautiful big brown eyes that melt our hearts, this baby is absolutely precious—in regard to both the cuteness factor and what the baby represents for this species’ future. We are proud of the dedication of our care teams who diligently work to provide the gorillas with top quality care and wellbeing while continuing the legacy of the Columbus Zoo’s renowned gorilla program,” said Audra Meinelt, curator of the Columbus Zoo’s Congo Expedition region.”
