1. Is your Tav Baldurian? If yes, did they grow up in Baldur’s Gate? If no, where are they from?

Nephele is from Baldur’s Gate, but she spent a majority of her time in the temple so she isn’t really the best tour guide of the city. It’s been 16 years since she’s stepped foot in those walls by the time she returns.

18. What did they want to be when they were younger?

All her life Nephele only saw herself serving Kelemvor, it was her entire world. No outside dreams, just filling her father’s shoes, being a part of the death clergy and giving people their last rights. That dream obviously didn’t come to fruition.

What's your Rooks favourite place to be? Like either in the lighthouse or adventuring. Do they throw everything to the side to go to Arlathan Forrest any chance they get? Do they prefer the music room to the library?

Ok when I tell you that I am generally so touched somebody asked me a question in response to my most recent post. I have been on this site for 10+ years and no one really ever interacts with me. And this is such a great question! Please answer it too and tag me so I can read it!

Answering below because this is going to be long

My canon Rook is Nephele Mercer, and my first thought in response to this was the the market in Traviso. Nephele had a pretty horrific childhood, and once she ran away from home she's been sort of building the bridge out in front of her to make ends meet. Even with the Shadow Dragons she never really felt safe or like she could relax. She is also fascinated by luxury because she's never had anything nice.

It's hard to explain but some combination of the purple lanterns and the warm night air makes her feel like she can finally slow down. It feels homey in a way she doesn't know how to describe. The first time she saw it when they were rushing past with Teia all she wanted to do was stay behind and look around. And the second she got to go back she visited every single stall and talked to everyone she could. Probably also bought more than she could afford.

And fast forward to her being the wife of the First Talon, she absolutely refuses any discounts anyone tries to give her. She pays people what they're worth, and then some.

Now I also have 6 other OCs that while they aren't the protagonist of the game, they are all also present a the Lighthouse and are associates of Varrics. They also all have bird code names because I think I'm cute.

Nasreen "Raven" Aldwir: I actually think that Nasreen's bedroom is the music room. She likes to be alone, and she likes small dark quiet places, so it's a great place for her to hide out in. She also is a musician (a huge inspiration for her character was the elven instrument that you can have in Rook's bedroom). At the beginning of the game she would borrow stacks of books from Emmrich and hide out in her room for hours, occasionally going back to ask questions. Eventually she got more comfortable staying in Emmrich's office and reading on the couch.

Aleksei "Magpie" Laidir: This boy must be near to water at all times. He grew up on an island and now he's a sailor. But literally any body of water will do. Lake in Arlathan, beaches of Rivain, canals of Treviso. He's like a duck.

Konstantin "Wren" Ingellvar: I don't know that Konstantin has ever felt comfortable anywhere, bless him. He probably feels most comfortable in the halls of the Necropolis because at least he understands the rules there, and he can spend a lot of time alone without questions. His life's goal is to not to be noticed, but he's a 7'2" Qunari built like a brick shit house. I think after a few weeks his favorite place to be is the library, because that's where the most people who are happy to see him are likely to be (I'm sobbing. I love him)

Paloma "Dove": Paloma is also a Shadow Dragon (There's 6 backgrounds but 7 romances, so someone's got to be the bonus Jonas). Paloma and Elspeth (below) are the two I've played the least so I don't have them as fleshed out. I think she likes to be around people, but struggles to talk to them. Paloma is an escaped Sarebaas, and she's still not used to talking or other people expecting her to say something. She likes people watching, either in the Shadow Dragon hide out, at bars, marketplaces, or at the docks. She feels very protective of Minrathous, the place that took her in when she needed a place to go, so part of her people watching is being ready to shut shit down if she sees trouble starting.

Elspeth "Crow" de Riva: My first instinct is to say "wherever Harding is", because she is Lace's self elected body guard, but that feels too easy. She's definitely a city kid, and growing up as a Crow means she's a night owl. I actually think she spends a lot of time at home. Or wherever Viago is so that she can annoy him. I wonder what it says about them that I can best describe them in their relationship to other people?

Brenna "Kestral" Thorne: For a long time Brenna would have considered anywhere with a high concentration of Wardens to be her favorite place. Being a Warden means she is constantly shuffled around, so she doesn't get attached to places easily. 6 months after the events of the game, she gets permission to go watch over the griffons in Arlathan, essentially on mental health leave. She ends every day watching the sunset with the griffons on the hillside where she and Davrin had their picnic.

So yeah this was really fun! Would love to answer some more if anyone is interested.

Appearance: Somewhat of a short girl with pale-ish skin, shoulder-length, dark brown hair, and pupil-less looking blue eyes. Has a soft-winter-esque aesthetic with light blues, grays, whites, creams, and other shades of blue. Always carries a medallion with a blue crystal (the Crystal of Life) and after book 2 onwards, she almost always has a charmed red rose in her hair.

Occupation: Student, hero

Describe their room: In book 1, she shares her room with her siblings, where she has a bunk bed without a top floor. Her side of the room has a soft pillow and covers with two plushies and a stuffed bunny, with a bookshelf all three of them stack their books and notebooks on and a table with their separate drawers for their clothes and personal belongings.

Way of speaking: Rosena has a quite timid and polite way of speaking, in a quiet and soft voice with occasional stutters and run-ons on her sentences. It is unless she's on an emotionally high note (like extremely happy or angry), then her voice becomes more loud and clear with a more decisive tone.

Physical characteristics (posture, gestures, attitude): She has a kind of bad posture, as she always leans down to see the physical details around her. Her gestures can be more dramatic along with her emotions, pften resulting in accidents.

Items in their pocket/purse: Music player, earphones, her smallest plushie, fruit seeds, some money, a bottle of water and after entering Yugenri; energy crystals, potions, medical herbs, her mini-staff (in her backpack)

Hobbies: Listening to music, spending time with her friends, books, daydreaming, gardening, travelling (sometimes), learning, the fantsstical world, magic (Trick), peace / quiet

Favorite sports: None (unless gardening or practicing spells counts)

Relationships (how they are with other people):

-Tom Nels (best friends): Rosena and Tom are the closest of friends despite their families having moved apart, supporting eachother throughout the series but especially in book 1 where their concern for eachother brings out the best of them. Even if Tom's blunt nature might not be the best attitude to approach Rosena's problems at times, Rosena knows he means well.

-Shan Lin (best friends) First meeting in book 2, Rosena and Shan quickly bond even before starting the Academy. Shan acts like Rosena's eyes / vision at first, describing her the places they're in, but they soon form a sibling-like relationship, becoming apart of the same core crew. Rosena is more open and calm around him compared to most others, as they both are seen and the "kindhearted weirdos" of the team.

-Mather & Miracate Freze (siblings): Rosena cares a lot about them, and tries to put them before herself a bit too much.

-Kent Hudson (friends): Rosena admires the dilligent and determined nature of Kent, and fully believes he'll be a better team leader than she could be. Though she doesn't like the way he can act prideful, or like he knows everything. Still, they can get along especially after Kent starts to become slightly more open.

-Faren Nitsa Leratis (friends): Rosena feels incredibly overwhelmed by Faren's outgoing nature, but appreciates her bravery, strong will, and free-spirit. They do get along well but Rosena tries to take some time to get used to a bold personality like Faren.

-Shuang Lin (friends): Rosena is a bit awkward around Shuang at first, you know not knowing much about her besides her brother but warms up soon enough. They share an enjoyment of learning and care for those they love (spoilers but she becomes the wingwoman for Shuang and Tom later on-).

-Payden Laerirn (friends, might or might not be romance later): They start on the opposite sides of the Multiverse and in different organizations. But they'll learn to understand eachother's perspectives (and with Payden's extra high empathy), forming a connection.

-Erebus (companion / friends): Erebus was a timid shadow spirit under the service of Lucinda Renshaw, who sent him to accompany Rosena and co. in their. missions. Rosena appreciates the loyalty and quiet nature of Erebus and tries to approach him with kindness despite her and Tom's shared trauma regarding the shadow spirits.

-Cecil Icerick (companion & mentor figure): Rosena felt quite worried about training with Cecil at first due to his history of being constantly in battles. But soon eased up thanks to his actually kind and gentle attitude. She's now eager for every training session as she also admires his wisdom and magical knowledge now.

-Nessara Luciell Freze (adopted child): Later on in the series, Rosena adopts Nessara. And seeing that she's an adorable little cinnamon roll who's been lost in this world, Rosena tries her absolute best to care for and nurture Nessara.

(I'll and this was just her inner-circle-)

Fears: Fire, being abandoned, being a burden, death / hurting of loved ones, not being able to fit in, being unwanted, being dependent, being betrayed, earthquakes & losing balance, Lorkness (early on til mid-late series), being treated like "special"

Faults: Rosena, especially in early books, is too timid for her own good. Having been judged for who she is and what she goes through, she tries to keep everything to herself rather than share. Even around people she knows she can trust (like her siblings or Tom), she'll try to hide her thoughts and worries not to concern them. She's also both overthinking and emotionally-driven, so she often has "what have I done..." moments where after an emotional high note, where she thinks she's made the mistake of her life and about how she could've done so much better, most likely while crying.

Good points: Rosena's strongest point is definitely her compassion and kindness. Even if she doesn't like someone or has a grudge against them, she will show compassion to them if the situation calls for it. She's slso very devoted to her friends / found-family, who acts as the co-leader, caster, and healer of. She's also quite intuitive and in-tune with her emptions

What they want more than anything else: She wants to feel free about and be accepted for who she is. She also wants for those for those she loves to be well and unharmed.

Being an emotionless alter is humorous to me. I cannot feel anything inside of myself but I have a knowledge that I should be helping the body and the other people in it, especially the parts who do not acknowledge person-hood.

Acknowledging the person-hood of each alter has helped us tremendously with our day to day life. We are less limited by the things we are scared of. Therapy has also helped even if it's only been for specific trauma and not for the disorder as a whole.

Each alter deserves respect and kindness.

The metallic stench filling up Qiran's lungs was far too familiar to be confused for else: blood.

Not theirs, but oh - how they wished It was.

How they wished they weren't on the cold, rough ground, deep into Nadaka's silent, dark forest, clinging to their loved one's now red-stained body, rocking him back and fourth, tears falling on Shou's face, just like drops of rain.

An huge wound that originated from the right side of his neck to his abdomen was threatening to paint the ground red. His breathing worsened as the seconds went on, whereas his heartbeat began to slow down.

The moonlight did not touch the pair, almost as though it wanted to keep them hidden.

Neither of them could talk: one barely holding It togheter, the other closer to Mors's touch. Not even Nephele herself could bestow him protection, after all, what protection could she give for him? A surviving offspring of both a demon and an human, an union unprecedented yet deplorable?

No matter whether they'd invoke her name, she wouldn't have replied to their prayers. Not now, not ever.

Qiran knew they had to act fast, as they couldn't allow panic to swallow them even more, making them shake and weep further. They knew they had to go somewhere - anywhere else, but they couldn't leave his lover in those conditions either.

When their eyes met his, realising how their loved one was falling both in and out of conciousness,as he battled quietly for his life, they knew what they had to do.

Qiran gently raised the man's head, as they came even closer to their lover. After a moment of hesitation, they leaned their other arm over to Shou's mouth.

"SHOU -!"

They panicked, as their breath increased and so did their heartbeat.

"- Listen to me! Demons need blood, right?!? You do as well, don't you!?"

Qiran soon followed with a pause.

"Then if so - just...please...?"

They begged, as they leaned their arm even closer.

They could see a glimpse of pure fear through Shou's widened eyes, however, when he tried to talk, to avoid the inevitable, he could not. A mouth open, without any sound.

The only thing coming from his mouth was a faint, quiet panting, soon accompaigned by the sound of drops hitting the ground.

He had just begun to cry. He couldn't do it.

Qiran quietly hushed them, as they slowly started to caress his face. Shou had tried to keep his eyes shut and pretend not listen to his partner's proposal, to no avail. His head was quickly brought back up, however their arm was far closer than It was before.

He opened his eyes, staring at theirs once more.

Shou knew that he would have never forgived himself if he were to die in their arms, and leave them alone to sob until they physically could. Qiran gave him an encouraging nod, their eyes trying not to pour as they waited for an answer.

After gathering up enough courage, he opened his mouth, a pair of long, sharp canines emerging as soon as Shou's mouth made contact with Qiran's arm. His heartbeat was now increasing with every moment passing.

Then, he bit It, his eyes closing altogheter.

He sunk his teeth into their sweaty flesh, trying not to cut too deep, as he needed blood to flow from the fresh bite. However, as soon as he gulped a few drops from the bite, he felt like he had just gained another life.

The adrenaline rush made him thrust in even more, as with every gulp a part of his wound healed. He was in a state of bliss, up until he opened his eyes, and soon noticed how Qiran's head faced the other way, as they trembled, writhing in pain.

Shou stopped, realising how much he gave in. The sharp, shooting pain was the only thing occupying their mind, as they felt their energies fading more and more as they felt their blood pouring. They swear It had reached their hand for how much they were losing.

He slowly raised his head, his canines abbandoning the flesh he had just damaged. His wound had pratically healed itself, disappearing altogheter. He gasped for air, almost as though he had been underwater for quite a bit of time.

Shou was now sitting, slowly getting used to his sorroundings. Yet, the same couldn't be said for Qiran. Their wound was pouring as much if not more than his, as they felt weaker and weaker.

Neither had something to treat it, or to wrap it in. However, that's when Shou noticed just how long his own robes were, followed by a quick -

- Slash.

He had just torn off part of his sleeve with his nails, as he was fast to wrap it around the biting point.

No exchange of words was needed. The silence around them almost seemed reassuring, peaceful, even.

"We cannot stay here."

That's how Shou broke the silence, as his voice sounded much more like a whisper, with an hint of worry and agitation.

"Before anyone else gets hurt - we have to go."

He paused, looking up to Qiran. They had closed their eyes, and had let their body fall upon Shou's. He immidately reacted, making sure they wouldn't fall on the ground, holding them by the sides of their torso.

Soon though, that transformed into an embrace. The two silently held onto eachother.

"Oh, darling...

How shall I ever repay you?"

He did not expect an answer, but he was given one.

"You did - you already did.

I would not trade this moment,

this memory,

for as long as I'm alive."

Keranes' house lies empty. All that's left behind is a lone journal sat on a desk. You feel as though it shouldn't be here, as though you shouldn't be here, as though you are but looking over someone's shoulder and feeling her knees go weak as she reads. . .

Our souls are blighted, our spirits broken. We are but twenty now. And others yet may lose themselves to the abyss if we fail to act quickly, I am sure. We must go on, but not like this. Our pain is too great, we lack the strength and willpower needed to survive the winter here. Celephais had this idea… A shared dream sounds ludicrous on paper, but I believe her idea is sound. By sealing ourselves in Ruthalia’s mountains with magic and remembering the times before this happened, we can preserve the strength we do have while lifting everyone’s spirits. When spring comes and we’re forced back to reality, it will be bitter, but by then we will remember why we came all this way… As the oldest, our magic stores will be fueling the spells keeping our bodies safe and our dreams active. I dare not even think of what would happen to our minds should the magic falter. Cele and I will likely wake up in a terrible state, but it will all be worth it. I want my future self to know that whatever happiness she feels when she wakes up is my reason for doing this.

WHAT YOU KNOW

Tensions are high. Too many mouths and not enough food means tough decisions must be made. The future looks bleak and famine has taken from you already. Brizo and Chiron didn't make it with their meager rations. Euphorie did not wish to live in a world where both of her children are dead.

Keranes and Celephais have seen to which lengths despair has driven their family. They have a plan,

and you are all invited to take part in it.

(A part of "you" balks, revolts at the idea. A part of "you" wonders if maybe...)

WHAT TO DO

Food

The majority vote for ration distribution was as follows,

Allotted half ration: Leonardo, Soren, Micaiah, Sigurd, Brizo, Aphaea, Celephais (given to Melita), Kris, Python, Chiron, Keranes, and Delthea Not allotted: Lianna, Euphorie, Melita (given Celephais'), Electra, Azama, Sylvain, Sain, Forde, Griss, Mark, and Phorcys

Mechanically, this will immediately apply OOC going forward into week three threads. Narratively, you are free to play out the consequences of this group decision and any disagreements that may have resulted from it.

You are also free to hunt or forage for food all the while. To do so, roll 1d8. A 7 will yield a single ration. Plants and animals have become scarce. The river has receded. If the mission didn't have a deadline before, it does now.

Consider their offer

You don't have to decide right away, Celephais notes. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves. You could go to sleep, be happy for a time, and be wakened come the spring. This would resolve the need for food at the same time.

But maybe you don't yet feel driven near enough to the edge of despair?

Re: The Outskirts

A strange, shadowy creature has been sighted on the outskirts of town now and again. It feels familiar to "you." "You" wish it were nearer, even if the sight of it fills you with dread, with the knowledge that this creature should already be dead.

Any post made outside of town borders, whether in search of food or otherwise: roll a 1d3. These rolls should be tracked individually for each muse, rather than as a group. If a player rolls a 3, the creature has them in its sights. . . they are being watched.

On that player's next turns in the thread, from then on, roll a 1d3. If they accumulate both a 1 and a 2, the shadowy, cloaked creature takes them away, away, away. . .
