In silent woods, the birch trees stand, Snow whispers soft beneath their hand, Misty dawn breathes across the land.

Morning bird,
Fragments of the velvet night,
Gentleness of the seasons,
A voyage into the ocean,
Submerged in all that is sublime;
The salt stings.
Morning bird,
Sing for us,
Call to the tenderness of the world,
Read us your tender sonnet.
So the skylarks will sing,
And the doves will fly.
Feathers of sunlight,
Framed by the wind,
Grant me pilgrimage
And Godspeed,
Into the vastness of your mind
Let the travellers discover
The poet's home in your heart,
Volumes worthy to be read.
Morning bird,
Fly.
At all hours,
Split the heaviness that consumes,
Startle the sad salt air with the whir of your wings,
Allow the warmth inside you to spread.
Morning bird,
Sit upon a ledge.
Dig your claws into the soul of an aged branch,
Look out to the world.
Feel the sunlight pool in your heart.

Soul of the Earth
By Jazmyn Edmonds
Tumblr media
She sits in the center of an open field, Her tears rooted in the soil, Surrendering to the chaos is all she's ever known, yet her spirit remains still. The earth knows her tears, and she carefully listens, seeking meaning on the hill.
Her heart, so pure, yet her perception of her divinity so small. She searches for home in shattered glass, making sense of it all.
She loves, She laughs, She dreams.
Searching for meaning beyond her sorrows, Under scattered stars and weeping trees, She waits for whispers of what her heart burns to see.
Through rain, sun, and freshly fallen snow, At the witching hour, enchanted by a moonlit glow, She swims beneath ocean depths where her soul is free to cry, Crafted from the soul of the earth, She is love personified.

Home, Either Way
Emerald fields make my heart yield. The sunkissed plains, flutter with the wind's gentle stir.
High above, among the clouds, or below, with the restless seas, my heart flutters at ease.
Home, either way, I'm at peace.
Humid air or sunburnt skies, sweat-soaked days or frozen nights, 261 feet or 5280, Home, either way, I'm at peace.

Oh Nature, thy art is majestic !
But I looked at it when I have reached the verge of my thoughts.

Ambition
Running shoes, thin layers of clothes, mittens, headscarf, socks, seagulls, the moon setting on the shore.
Virtual, abstract, clear, firm warm wood floors, sun-dried linen, a full fridge, chamomile and oatmeal.
They close my tabs, get me through the motions: folding clothes, client service smile, sunrise journal, and class.
Open books, then close them up, sitting in front of a blank page. I stare; I cannot lie or get around. Another yearning aches, another yearning makes, leaking from my eyes, my mouth, my ears, from my bleeding fingertips.
Every word I hear, a song, a whisper, a scream of what it could be. What once hurt now types for me.
What once paradox, orthopraxy toast, ink wasted none, make every word count. Ink running out, clock ticking nonstop.
Just one more word, and someone finally hears, finally sees, what I so dearly hold, what I have long known.

EYES (Poems with Friends!)
Blue eyes reflect the sun on sea
A summer colour for you and me
Hazel eyes the emerald, of dappled shade
The cooler light of autumn betrayed
Brown eyes the darkness of winter wood
But also the honeyed tones of warmth and good
Then come the sweet green eyes of spring
Of dancing grasses and fairy rings

Take a glance at
Day night up downs are required in life, but can you also lift your head up sometimes? Take time out of your work you workaholic, and give it to mother nature time to time.
Just get up early one day and watch the sunrise, the birds will sing a good morning song for you. Stand in your terrace instead of staying in bed, you'll know what cuddles by the nature feels like.
A flock riding the blue and white sky, in different patterns that always amaze children. If you see a healthy plant with blooming flowers, the plant is greeting you a good day ahead.
Have you ever seen a swaying tree and rumbling leaves in a windy evening? As if floating in air, dancing every beat off, in contrast with the enchanting sound of wind.
See it with the view of a nature photographer, and feel the surroundings like a writer. Nature is the therapist you're looking for, it always have a cure to your stressful routine.

Flower!
Tumblr media
A flower blooms with grace and might, Its beauty a wondrous sight. Soft petals in shades of hue, So delicate, yet strong and true.
The gentle breeze whispers through, Dancing with the petals anew. A fragrant scent, so sweet and pure, A gift of nature, for all to adore.
Through summer's heat and winter's cold, Its beauty never does grow old. A symbol of hope and love, A reminder of blessings from above.

For this new moon in Pisces, a reminder that my NEW TRANSLATION of the Orphic Hymn to the Moon (with audio files and part 1 of my commentary) is available to paid subscribers to my substack. Perfect for new moon rituals or just to indulge in poetry that captures the beauty and wonder of our living cosmos. The commentary details the esoteric material found in the Ancient Greek that’s inaccessible in other translations. There’s profound and surprising truths hidden in this hymn that is gorgeous poetry in its own right! What I wish I knew
By Jazmyn Edmonds
Tumblr media
Meet me at the river's bed, when the sun begins to set, and I will wait for you.
The crickets chirp, the narrow gate creaks and the wind comforts me with a gentle chill, while I make space for you.
I couldn't hear you when you cried out to me. The same song in the same wretched tune.
But here and now all alone, when the world finally rests
Under the stars and in the presence of the moon, where my essence won't let me hide
Now, my soul, screams out for you.
Your healing love, gone.
Like winter's sting and I, now six feet under.
With a pulse that only knows bliss when I'm with you...
In our meeting place,
At the river's bed,
While the crickets chirped,
the narrow gate creaked,
and the wind blew,
I saw you, for the first time.
Now, six feet under.
