The petals can be eaten fresh. In infusion, as eye drops, they have great ophthalmological properties, they help fight eye infections and inflammations. Furthermore, mixed with honey it fights gingivitis, and mixed with lemon juice, if we immerse the nails, it makes them strong and healthy. The decoction of the flowers helps against heavy menstruations.
The decoction of the root and its stems is astringent and, when gargled, combats throat infections and irritations.
In addition, other species of roses are highly appreciated in the world of cosmetics and perfumery. Skin tonics have healing, regenerating and bactericidal properties, they fight wrinkles and skin inflammations. In aromatherapy, roses help in states of depression, insomnia and anxiety. 🌱✨

Pineapple Skin – The Superfood Hiding in Plain Sight
Tumblr media
When you think of pineapples, it’s the juicy, sweet fruit that probably comes to mind. But what if we told you that the pineapple’s skin might be the real treasure here? Yes, that often-overlooked outer layer, usually tossed in the trash, is packed with nutrients and benefits that can elevate your health. Let’s dive into why pineapple skin deserves a place in your diet!
The Untapped Potential of Pineapple Skin
Most of us cut up a pineapple, enjoy the fruit, and discard the skin without a second thought. But this habit is not only a bit wasteful—it’s also a missed opportunity for a health boost! With food waste becoming a global concern, finding ways to use every part of our produce, including pineapple skin, is more relevant than ever. Pineapple skin is edible, and by tossing it away, we lose out on its many health benefits. So, what exactly makes this rough, prickly skin so special?
Pineapple Skin Nutrients and Their Benefits
Pineapple skin may not look particularly inviting, but it holds a wealth of nutrients that can support your health in multiple ways:
Bromelain: This enzyme is abundant in pineapple skin and is known for its ability to break down proteins, aiding digestion. Plus, it’s anti-inflammatory, making it an excellent choice for reducing swelling and easing pain in conditions like arthritis.
Fiber: High in fiber, pineapple skin can keep your gut healthy by promoting regular bowel movements. Fiber also helps you feel full longer, which is beneficial for weight management and overall digestive health.
Antioxidants: Pineapple skin is loaded with antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress in the body. By fighting free radicals, these compounds can support your immune system and boost overall health.
Health Benefits of Pineapple Skin
Thanks to bromelain’s anti-inflammatory properties, pineapple skin has potential therapeutic benefits. If you struggle with chronic inflammation or digestive issues, incorporating pineapple skin might provide some relief. The fiber content also aids digestion and can keep you feeling satisfied, perfect for anyone on a weight management journey. And with its antioxidant content, pineapple skin can help defend against cellular damage from environmental factors and the stresses of daily life.
How to Use Pineapple Skin
You might be wondering how to enjoy pineapple skin without having to actually chew on the tough peel. Here are a few simple ways to incorporate it into your diet:
Pineapple Skin Tea: Boil the cleaned skin in water for 20–30 minutes, strain, and enjoy as a hot or iced tea. Adding honey or cinnamon can enhance the flavor.
Smoothies or Juices: Blend the boiled skin with other fruits to make a nutrient-packed smoothie or juice. Just be sure to strain out any tough bits after blending.
Infused Water: Let pineapple skin steep in cold water with a few slices of ginger or lemon for a refreshing and hydrating drink.
The Bottom Line
Pineapple skin may be rough on the outside, but it’s packed with nutrients that make it a superfood worth considering. By rethinking how we use every part of our fruits, we can reduce food waste and gain health benefits at the same time. So, the next time you cut up a pineapple, think twice before tossing the skin—it just might be the healthiest part!

Seven Simple Remedies for Enhanced Well-Being Shaina Tranquilino June 15, 2024
Tumblr media
Our bodies often communicate their needs through subtle signals, inviting us to take proactive steps towards better health. By tuning into these cues and employing natural remedies, we can effectively boost our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Here are seven quick fixes that can make a significant difference:
Acupressure for Pain Relief: You can alleviate pain, tension, and fatigue by applying gentle pressure to the acupressure point between your thumb and forefinger. Hold the pressure for 20 seconds, release for 10 seconds, and repeat this cycle four times. This simple technique can ease headaches and promote relaxation.
Nasal Irrigation with a Neti Pot: Clear your nasal passages and relieve congestion caused by allergies or infections by using a neti pot with warm distilled or sterile salt water. This practice not only soothes but also supports sinus health over time.
Detoxifying Apple Cider Vinegar Bath: A warm bath infused with two cups of apple cider vinegar can be incredibly purifying. Soak for 20 minutes to draw out toxins and restore your body's natural energy flow.
Mood-Boosting Foods: The foods we consume profoundly impact our mood. Enjoying a small, nourishing meal rich in complex carbohydrates can uplift your spirits and dispel feelings of irritability or sadness.
Calming Breathwork: Combat anxiety and fear with conscious breathing exercises. Focus on deep belly breaths while visualizing yourself rooted deeply like a tree. This practice grounds you and restores inner calm swiftly.
Mindful Distraction: Sometimes, taking a short mental break through daydreaming or listening to calming music can provide clarity and perspective during moments of frustration.
Wellness Elixir for Immunity: When you feel under the weather, prepare a potent wellness elixir. Simmer three sliced lemons, grated ginger, minced garlic, and a dash of cayenne pepper in water. Strain into a mug, sweeten with honey to taste, and sip three times daily. This blend of antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal ingredients can help alleviate symptoms and prevent illness progression.
By incorporating these natural remedies into your routine, you can proactively support your body's innate ability to heal and thrive. Listen to your body's cues, nurture it with these simple fixes, and enjoy a renewed sense of well-being.

Hawthorn is abundant, harvested from Krakow's Krzemionki. There are also plenty of wild apples and walnuts there. Elderberry season is over 🙁
Currently, I'm freezing the berries after removing the stems; in defense against the temperature drop, the fruits are sugaring up, which enhances the flavor. This shrub has long been known for supporting heart health.

Passion Flower for Calming the Mind and Getting a Good Night’s Sleep
Difficulty falling and staying asleep is one of the most frequent complaints I receive from my clients, patients, and practitioner students looking for solutions for their clients. Stress, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and mood problems are common concerns due to the high level of stress in today's world. Fortunately, foods and herbs from nature can ease stress and aid in falling and staying asleep.
Tumblr media
The passion blossom, Passiflora incarnata, is a favorite flower of mine and those of my patients. The exotic and beautiful passion flower plant is highly prized for both its amazing visual appeal and its amazing health benefits. It is often included in sleep aids and supplements that control stress and mood.

Garden Report 24.05.19
Transplanting things: pole beans, sweet peas (ikr... still?!), and flowers for the front garden like lineria, godetia, red rocket snapdragons (sorry @meegan420 there is a snapdragon shortage aka nursery people that are buyers of only the new trendy but this coming Tuesday promises to maybe have 'standards'. I'm determined to plant one for you! my mission this Spring!), a few violas in The King Henry old fashions, and two little dinky style pumpkins. I don't know if the snails will find them but I decided on a whim to get them after discovering something again went and ate all my cucs and winter squash seeds just at germination. I don't want to give up veg patch for dinkies but run the risk of snails or near harvest time, bipeds taking them. But hopefully the bees will have a chance to at lest enjoy the flowers.
The mice are nibbling on the potatoes. I think I may just let them go. Its a lot of work to harvest right now. I might just fish around to find a few to eat and replant the nibbled on.
The bean and sweet pea experiment along the hazel nuts has taken an unexpected twist. The rains stopped abruptly so no soft soaking drizzle and the potato mounds are not releasing moisture into the separating cardboard. I may have to find a soaker hose or have someone rig up some of the recycled drip system because everything got too dry while I was not being out there during the winds.
For some unexplained reason, there was no edible pea seeds available. No one carried them this Spring. Like, this is a staple... what's the problem? Mary gave me several bits of her hoard. Frugal tip: you can go to your green grocer/ organic foodstop and buy 'sprouting' peas and grow those -- you just may not know the variety or how long they take but they are definitely cheaper than garden packets so if you have a longer growing season -- do it!
So much weeds and transplanting at such a slow rate of speed. You can't even call it speed ;) I do more sitting than working. For those of you that don't like to use an asthma steroid inhaler but finding a need on occasion, my GP has me use essential oils (I use Gyalabs breathe blend; she uses thyme for her asthma symptoms) because I can't use steroids. Talk to your GP or Naturalpath if this could help with your respiratory health. I don't get kickbacks, just sharing what works for me :)
So much is blooming and Spring is in all her glory! Hope you are enjoying the days. If you can't get out and garden, at least get out in Nature or take a walk enjoying the season.
