I forgot to buy desk calendar for 2024, so in a perfect creative decision to make my life harder than it already is, I think why not make my own monthly calendar because ready made one never have the illustration I like anyway.
So, here it is. A little bit late for january, but I'm so happy with this one.

would anyone be interested in like a 'creative workshop' where I would like host a space or community or something where I can drop ideas/tips and junk on how to format stuff, get ideas for drafts, how to aesthetics, and/or do monthly planning for content?

so confession I actually was paying for tumblr ad free this whole time (bought it when it came out during the tumblr-might-shut-down scare of the week and never cared enough to cancel it) and now that they decided to charge twice as much I did cancel it but like. now I get a free blazed post every month until march. maybe I should blaze some of my art?? I stopped caring much about notes years ago and I'm not looking for commissions or anything, but if it's free, why not?

Dwarfcember day 22
If I made a calendar of hot Dark Irons with Molten pets would anyone want that, even? 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe I should make it a Patreon tier.

I don't know how to explain to anyone that my search for an all in one planner that gives me everything i need in a planner is killing me slowly and i'm about ready to say fuck it and make my own design because finding something that works shouldn't be this hard or cost me over $70 at best

Hi!! What do u use to plan ur weeks/days? A planner, bullet journal, notion...?
I use something between a bullet journal and a planner! What has worked best for me is a blank notebook that I turn into a planner - a task that can be low effort or high effort, depending on how much time I have on my hands. I fully set up the one I'm currently using in the summer, so it looks pretty. I have also just written 4 dates per spread in a lined journal and kept it simple as that.
Short plug for a planner I have liked: field notes - the basic write the dates in type; I got a small one and it was great, but they're more expensive.
I also loved the NYPL school year planner, but it's been discontinued for years now as far as I can tell.
I have used notion in the past and still have a set up for it, but I find it a lot easier to remember to write things down in a physical book. Still, since you mentioned it, I can show you what I have used in the past.
Here's what is on my home page for notion:
Tumblr media
And a weekly calendar that I have on my academics page - it's from last summer when I was house-sitting and is extremely unrealistic for how I work best, but I was trying things out:
Tumblr media
As for what I actually do, here's a filled out page from May and a blank one for October. Trying to format them properly in the post is annoying, so they'll come at the end.
I love a checklist. big fan. that's mostly what I do, and then I'll write various other things to remember or do that day on the side as needed. The arrow (-> on May 1) doesn't mean what I think it means in the traditional bullet journal set up, it just means something to do but doesn't need to be done that day, not that I'm moving it.
As you can also see from the May page, I'll put tickets in for things I've been to. Having this is not just a memory aid in the moment, but because I have a really bad memory, it helps me remember what I did over the course of the year in general.
I also use sticky notes a lot to write things down, and I'll stick those in on the relevant day/week.
And note that this is separate from the notebook I keep dissertation notes in (peeking out in the background of the May picture haha). I tend to keep those deadlines in that deadline, though I'll put 'send pages' in the planner.

Hey Jane
How weird would it be if I tell you, I randomly stalk your acc to catch up what's up in the Asian gay tv show world?
Hi Krish 💜
That's not weird at all and I'm super flattered actually, thank you and please stalk away! 🥰
It's unironically why I post so much about smaller Thai BL productions because they often get overshadowed by bigger companies like gmmtv.

My Monthly Favorites - December 2024
Baldur's Gate 3 from Steam
Recently, I finally finished Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Which means I needed a new Hyperfixation game. I was finally pushed to get my PC set up last month when my Laptop decided it no longer wanted to charge. Which means I could finally play Baldur's Gate 3. Which my husband got for me while it was on sale. My current character is a blue Dragonborn named Sapphire.

I bought a planner from a discount store near me for $4. I’m pretty happy about it because there’s so much going on and it’s so chaotic-but the sections it has to organize stuff in is everything I need and so I’m happyyyyyyyyy. I also cut out every month up until September because it was pretty big and I don’t need those months. It’s only a three month calendar now but that’s okay because I need to change my organization styles often so it’s the right length. :P I’m adding pictures because I’m just so happy.
Tumblr media
Look at the LINES on the month overview. :D
Tumblr media
And the options on the daily view!!! I’m so happy. And it would’ve been a $30 calendar so I feel very content.

✧ preparing for next semester series (2/12): gentle planning guide ✧
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hello sweethearts! mindyyy here! continuing our semester prep series with something super important - planning your schedule with intention and care.
here's a little break down into breaking this down into manageable pieces that won't overwhelm your precious mind:
essential planning elements:
class schedule
study blocks
self-care time
social activities
rest periods
creating your weekly template:
start with fixed classes
add study blocks (2-3 hours per class)
schedule meal times
plan exercise/movement
include social time
mark dedicated rest periods
time blocking tips:
use color coding (pick pretty colors!)
leave buffer time between activities
schedule harder tasks during your peak hours
include preparation time
add flexible blocks for unexpected things
digital vs. paper planning: digital sweetness:
google calendar for main schedule
notion for detailed planning
reminder apps for tasks
digital sticky notes
paper paradise:
pretty physical planner
weekly schedule template
monthly overview
habit tracker
to-do lists
remember:
don't overschedule
include white space
be realistic with time
plan for self-care
allow flexibility
my favorite planning hack: schedule your planning time! set aside 30 minutes each sunday evening to review and adjust your week ahead.
gentle hugs, mindy x
p.s. what's your favorite way to plan? digital or paper? 🎀
