I may not be a fan of MLP but this post made me think of why I don't like a lot of modern cartoons today. From my observation and limited exposure to shows like these, they tend to be mean-spirited and the characters are not that likable. In other cases, they'd be borderline gross.
Sure, I also grew up with shows where the characters do bad stuff and can be insufferable at times like Batman (where the villains are basically troubled individuals who are driven to commit crimes). In Ed, Edd n' Eddy, one of the characters named Eddy is like the biggest selfish jerk in the Cul-de-Sac as he has a knack for scamming people and treating his friends like trash but at least they face consequences and aren't treated like a saint.
If the person is already defenseless, they would just be grounded (if they're a kid), thrown off to jail or driven out of town.
Heck, I remember watching Foster's Home when I was like in grade school and knew Bloo was kind of a jackass! At least he gets called out. If the show were to come out today, he'd be unreasonably sassy, manipulative and not get much flak because he's the protagonist.
I am not sure if it's because the original creator of MLP has no full control over the writing due to corporate interference. It's one of the main reasons why I love old cartoons from until the early 2010's. Many of these popular shows nowadays felt like a Tumblrina's power fantasy who thinks it's right to continue torturing your enemies despite them already being defeated and those who dare question your motives should be vanquished.
Again, this is just my outside perspective so kindly take it with a grain of salt.
I just realized why the Legion of Doom's fate is jarring and disturbing
Because after they are turned into stone,
The crowd(including the Mane Six) literally start cheering afterwards
Like, look at this....
Tumblr media
Not even a moment of "I think we went too far"
Because usually when a villain gets defeated, the heroes usually don't kill them or give them a faith worse than death
Like, there is reason why heroes like Batman or Spider-Man have a no kill rule, cause the hero rarely kills the villain outright after they are rendered defenseless
(Like, Aang didn't kill Ozai after he took away his bending)
And when they are literally suffering, the heroes don't revel and cheer at such suffering, even when it comes to a villain
(Like, Katara and Zuko weren't gleefully cheering when Azula is defeated and is literally crying out)
Like, i'm surprised more people don't take note of it
Like, there is even an episode of BTAS that is about a warden who goes too far with his punishments:
youtube
(here)
Why didn't they realize that when the heroes literally cheer that the villains got a faith worse than death, it makes them look like the bad guys
Yes, villains can be killed off(like with Sombra) or a faith worse than death, but you have to do it correctly or else it will have bad implications
(This is why anti heroes exist)
What are your guys thoughts?

What Bleedman (Fuckman) and CreathingShitmera have in common, if you ask me? It's just that both have distorted versions of fictional characters, their writing is shit, hypocritical, insensitive towards serious issues and wasted art style. CreathingShitmera surpassed Fuckman in tutorial on how to do humanshit, because both him and Fuckman are shota loli characters supporters and pedophiles, they also support disgusting and imoral things.
Sorry not sorry.

Another thing I hated from those last two seasons were the villains, especially cozy glow
Bgdsafhbb
I really should stop talking about mlp. It's embarrassing 😅 I'm kind of embarrassed. I apologize to all my followers. But...
But again, 100% right.
Funny thing is, I can see a world where Chancellor Neighsay's character is written better. The problem with his character is that the terrible writers wrote him as the most stereotypical, strawman-y racist villain that I've ever seen in any piece of children's media, ever.
If they wrote him more realistically, and actually gave the audience an explanation for why he feels that way about the other creatures...
For example, they could've showed that the reason he hated the other creatures is because of their past history with ponies:
The hippogriffs/seaponies refused to help when the Storm King attacked
The Yaks were very picky when they came to visit for the first time
The dragons were usually very hostile towards ponies, to the point where ponies were afraid to approach them
The Changelings attacked Equestria twice
The griffins had a better relationship with ponies, but the majority of them were still very rude
Of course, the explanation for all of their behavior is the result of their environment, leadership, and upbringing. But it would still be an understandable reason.
And if they had him realistically realize the error of his ways, combined with writing him in a realistic way and giving an explanation for his mentality, then BOOM! Character fixed, problem solved :)
Now, as for Cozy Glow...
Idk what the writers were thinking when they came up with her character, but in terms of writing/character motivations she is 10,000 times worse than Neighsay. At least with him I understand what the writers were going for, and he can be more easily fixed.
But Cozy Glow…
She is a child. The same age as the CMC. Who is... inexplicable an evil sociopath who hates the other creatures, wants to get rid of magic, and... rule the world...
Absolutely no explanation given for how this child turned evil, racist, a sociopath, a master manipulator, and a megalomaniac. No backstory, no explanation. At all.
At least with Neighsay, you can logical see how he got there. But I have no idea what they were going for with Cozy Glow.
The only thing I can figure out is this: Cozy Glow exists to prove one point that Neighsay made. He was afraid that the other creature students would use their friendship lessons and the school to secretly take over Equestria. He believed that they were sociopaths who were incapable of being changed, so instead of being improved by the school they would only learn how to better manipulate ponies. That's what sociopaths do in real life.
But instead of it being the other creatures who did it, it was a pony. The point of Cozy Glow's character is to prove that ponies are capable of being the megalomaniac sociopaths that Neighsay thought the other creatures were. So in a way, I can see where the base concept for her character came from.
The thing that makes it terrible is that there is absolutely no backstory or explanation given for why this child is evil, or how she got there. The writers just expected the audience to accept this incredibly bizarre, horribly written character.
Tumblr media
Lol, shrug

Grogar would've been a really cool villain, if he wasn't actually SPOILERS Discord in disguise the whole time.
The real Grogar does exist in their world. He could be dead, he could be alive. We don't know. But the writers lied to people, telling them that Grogar would be the final villain, hyping him up... only for it to be taken away with a terrible plot twist. That they (apparently) planned from the beginning:
Tumblr media
But when Discord was impersonating Grogar, he was still a better villain than Cozy Glow and Neighsay. The plot twist was the real problem, not Grogar himself.
I actually feel kinda bad for Grogar's character. They did him dirty. They did my sheep dirty :(
Anyway, my final thoughts on the season 8/9 villains:
Chancellor Neighsay: Terribly written, but can be easily fixed.
Cozy Glow: They were high on BATH SALTS or something and were watching Cats Don't Dance (or the episode of Batman the animated series with Babydoll) when they came up with her character, and didn't give a shit about anything else.
Grogar: I feel bad for my poor sheep :( You deserve better, you could've been great 🐏

Shadow loves taking care of kids, because it reminds him of maria. When he helped her with anything, when she taught him about humanity and earth.
However, due to his reputation, a lot of kids/adult are scared of him.
Not Vanilla and Cream though. Vanilla saw right through his rough exterior. Cream loves having him around, playing tea party, waking in flower fields, reading books, and watching cartoons.

DIDN'T WANNA FEEL OLD IN 2025? SUCKS TO BE YOU!
HEY THERE PEOPLE OF TODAY AND ROBOTS OF TOMORROW! IT'S ME, CLARK!
Y'know what's funny? All last year peeps kept liking my 'Didn't Wanna Feel Old' journal from 2023. One commenter said I should make a new one for 2024. Jee, ya' don't say? Guess you missed how that was already a thing. Was nobody interested in seeing what all reached a major milestone back in 2024? Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, they all celebrated their 40th Anniversary, Lion King had its 30th, a lot of cool stuff got that much older. Shame nobody seemed to notice. Ah well, maybe 2025 will be better. Especially when a certain someone is celebrating his own major milestone this year. When, exactly? Read to find out!

so, imma be honest here...
youtube
i don't really agree with some of their points..
i agree with some but..
i feel like he is biased with Starlight Glimmer cause he seems to argue that "she chose to reform", but i still feel like she got off scot free for trying to ruin the timeline over her friend getting a cutie mark
...and Discord literally gets off scot free for helping the Legion of Doom
(How about Stygian??)
...and i honestly hate when people try to use real life examples and headcanons to justify Cozy Glow's writing(it hasn't been proven yet)
Yes, villains can get a faith worse than death sometimes but..
...there is a fine line with that(you don't give them an extra cruel punishment)
like, what are you opinions on this?
I am just airing out mine because i am tired of the MLP fandom trying to defend Ending of the End's writing and trying to defend characters who did crimes just as bad as theirs
(The Legion of Doom needed better writing, ESPECIALLY with Cozy Glow)
(i like villains, don't take this the wrong way)

Okay, this one is dumb, like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic was good when Lauren Faust was in control of the cartoon, until that son of a bitch Hasbro took it away, to the point where the cartoon turned into a crap, while Hazbin Brothel/Helluva Shit failed miserably in introducting a history. Making Fiends writes good characters better than MLP FIM and HB/HS.

Terri Belle: Swift Foot has escaped the castle! Spread out and find her! … Except for you. You come here~
Thracian Soldier #5: Yes, General.
Terri Belle: It’s been a long day, hasn’t it, Thracian Soldier #5?
Thracian Soldier #5: Yes, General.
Terri Belle: And you would do anything for me, wouldn’t you~?
Thracian Soldier #5: Yes, General. Unless your sister and her high-school friends were to depose your father. In which case, I would immediately swear blind allegiance to her.
Terri Belle: …. Okay? What do you say we… ride the Trojan horse for a while?
Thracian Soldier #5: What do you mean?
Terri Belle: Touch my ‘Achilles’ Heel’.
Thracian Soldier #5: Don’t follow.
Terri Belle: Pop open my ‘Pandora’s Box’.
Thracian Soldier #5: …. Totally lost.
Terri Belle: Hades’ sake! Do I have to spell it out?! I want to have sex with you!
Thracian Soldier #5: Ohhhh… Still don’t get it.
Terri Belle: … I don’t have any other words to say. Not one word in that sentence could be interpreted any other way.
Thracian Soldier #5: Oh, I think I see what you’re saying!
Terri Belle: Good, finally!
Thracian Soldier #5: You want me and Thracian Soldier #12 to hook up! Don’t worry, General. I’m laying the groundwork.
Thracian Soldier #5: Hey, Thracian Soldier #12. How you doin’?
Thracian Soldier #12: Still not into you, creep.
Thracian Soldier #5: She’s so into me.
Terri Belle: You’re fired. I’m gonna go hit on a windigo.
Thracian Soldier #5: …. I need a better union.

CW// Blood in the thumbmail
Tumblr media
This story really frustrates me because of the idea that Apple Bloom somehow knows how to do a blood transfusion on Pinkie Pie, the fact that coincidentally Sliver Spoon shares the same blood type as Pinkie and lastly, the fact that Rei had said "Apple Bloom is doing this by her own will" when she is actually not, it is very clear that AB was being groomed and manipulated by Pinkie Pie (and it's very clearly shown in this story). I really honestly hope that Issac Blooms explore Apple Bloom more, I'm pretty sure he hinted that he's gonna do something about AB as seen in his "Who is Apple Bloom" video and in his livestream he did where he hinted the next Muffins chapter he's working on (that being Derpy's birthday wish).
It sad that this is never explored in any of Reitanna's muffins fics and I doubt it'll ever be explored again since it's been years since she written another muffins or even narrated another muffins, and let me just say, I doubt she'll ever return to it and even if she does, it'll be locked under her paywall all over the fact that people were RIGHTFULLY criticizing her and calling out her behavior but oh well.
