so the thing about the worst wolverine is that i don't think he is. paradox calls him that and paradox can go para-fuck himself. is he any worse or any better than the version of logan we had already known?

it wasn't logan's fault that the x-men in his timeline were killed. he blames himself obviously and spends years in a pit of guilt and self-flagellation but it wasn't his fault.

now when cassandra nova is rooting around in his brain he says he didn't stop killing at just the people who were actually guilty of the crime and turned people against the x-men. did he? did he really turn people against the x-men?

if there was already significant enough anti-mutant sentiment in his timeline to go mutant hunting and kill the x-men at their mansion than people already turned on them.

in the commentary shawn levy refers to logan wearing the uniform as his hair shirt. logan is self-castigating and taking on unearned guilt. his perspective is biased against himself. so when the shirt explodes off him during an act of self-sacrifice he is no longer bound to that guilt.

laura is right. logan was always the wrong guy until he wasn't.

wade is also right when he says he is the best wolverine.

fundamentally logan is the same no matter the timeline. when the chips are down he will always come through. he is always a hero.

Was there ever a news event in our lifetimes that the media fumbled more aggressively than Columbine. They genuinely got every single detail wrong

From reporting that they killed someone for saying she believed in God (a different girl who said she did survived) to not reporting that they sought out students of color while yelling racial slurs - on Hitler's birthday & a day after the anniversary of OKC and Waco - while promoting the idea that you have to watch out for loner bullied nerds. Even though later research shows that the shooters were, in fact, bullies themselves, who had a wide social circle, and they were, you know, Nazis motivated by racism and not the video game Doom (1993).

It's a generational fuck-up, the GOAT of bad reporting bc it's still with us. The narrative of persecution after "she said yes" is a huge reason the evangelical right is like how it is today (they made a biopic that uncritically repeated it just a couple years ago!) & they still push the idea that it's primarily victims who do that sort of thing and not aggressors & people still shared that stupid video of Marilyn Manson saying he'd "listen" until a couple years ago (though the shooters being abusive Nazi creeps would uh, not diminish Marilyn Manson's desire to befriend them, I feel)
