Today was one of the happiest days for me and my children.
Today, I withdrew what was left of the donations I received thanks to your support and kindness to finally buy some food for my children. A few supply trucks were allowed in, with high prices, but it was still a chance we couldn't miss.
I was able to buy some flour, vegetable oil, cheese, and sugar.

These may seem like ordinary things to you, but to us, they are dreams come true.
I woke up early to bake each of my children a piece of bread half to eat at the start of the day, and the other half at the end. I filled them with that delicious cheese we’ve missed for so long.
I made them sweet tea with sugar something we hadn’t tasted in a long time.

My little one, Youssef, who still doesn’t speak, pointed to the tea and said, “Me… me…”trying to say he wanted some too.
And Hussein looked at me and said, “Mama, I feel like I’m dreaming…”
They sat together and enjoyed the moment as if they had entered another world.
I don’t know how to express to you what I felt, or the joy I saw on their faces.
But I do know this: none of it would’ve been possible without your compassion.
You were the ones who raised our voices when the world turned away.
I can’t say that the famine is over but today, for just a moment, it stepped back.
Today, I seized what felt like our last chance to live a happy day.
I trust that you won’t leave us alone.
Please, keep supporting us. Help us bring a little joy into our children’s lives.
Your donations are not just support they are life itself.

ive always had the diva’s sensibility but as a child i lacked the language to understand when i was experiencing aesthetic distaste so for a while i developed what can only be described as a fear response to certain saturated shades of purple

Many of our compatriots in the Mainland believe that the huaqiao [note below] are all capitalists. Even the relatives in our hometown [Tangshan] look upon the fanke [the Hokkien term denoting lamnang, "our people," who had left China to make a living in a foreign land; literally, visitors or guests in a foreign land] as landlords and feel that going abroad is the path to prosperity. They do not understand the truth about the huaqiao. Of course there are huaqiao capitalists, but they are few in number. Eighty to ninety percent of the huaqiao are laborers, and a majority of them are small-time vendors, storekeeprs, workers, and peasants. They scrimp on food and other necessities in order to save money and return home and support their families.
[Lagalag sa Nanyang (Nanyang Piaoliuji) ni Bai Ren, salin ni Joaquin Sy. Galing sa yugtong Introduksiyon ni Caroline Hau.]
Lagalag sa Nanyang (Nanyang Piaoliuji) by Bai Ren, translated by Joaquin Sy. Excerpt from the Introduction by Carioline Hau.
Note: Huaqiao for the most part of its hundred-year history connoted enforced migration or exile, with additional meanings of official protection extended to Chinese abroad as well as self-conscious patriotism among the Chinese abroad, expressed as "cultureal" commitment to remaining "Chinese" or restoring one's "Chineseness". [...] It has also been applied to settlers who are foreign subjects.
I found this interesting. It corresponds with the stories our yaya told us of her father, who was born in 1900s Southern China (which province, she doesn't know) and migrated to the Philippines around the first quarter of the 20th century, leaving behind a family. He was very poor and sold siomai and other dimsum, I believe. He couldn't marry my yaya's mother because there were laws prohibiting the marriage of Chinese people and Filipinos.
According to Caroline Hau's introduction, author Bai Ren (real name Wang Jisheng, also a poet, novelist and dramatist) was born in Fujian in 1918. He migrated to the Philippines in 1933, traveling through Visayas then Manila in Luzon. He returned to China in 1937.

A short timeline of events
March 2025 - Blockade
Israel prevents entry of food and humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Then they unilaterally break ceasefire.
May 2025 - Opening of GHF death traps
On May 27, Private US contractors roll out aid "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" sites backed by Israel. GHF was led by Jake Wood, a US military veteran, and now is directed by John Acree, longtime US imperialist who previously worked with USAID, and Johnnie Moore, an evangelical christian zionist and capitalist. These sites are all located in Israeli military zones, where journalists have no access.
June 2025 - GHF sites are condemned by everyone (except the zionists). Daily massacres continue at GHF sites.
GHF is immediately identified as a tool of genocide and condemned by aid and human rights organizations, the United Nations, and literally everyone on the ground from doctors to civilians.
The Gaza Health Ministry states that GHF "does not adhere to any professional or ethical standards of humanitarian work" and confirms civilian reports that GHF sites are staffed by armed private security personnel, and that both GHF staff and Israeli military have fired directly upon people collecting aid.
Save the Children's regional director for the Middle East, North Africa and eastern Europe, Ahmad Alhendawi released a statement that children were killed or injured in more than half of the fatal attacks at GHF sites, stating: "No child should be killed searching for food. This is not a humanitarian operation – it's a death trap. Forcing civilians into fenced-in zones only for them to be gunned down is the opposite of humanitarian – it's inhumane."
As of June 25, 549 people had been killed and more than 4,000 injured at or near GHF sites.
July 2025 - People continue to starve and endure daily massacres
As of July 16, The death toll of Palestinians killed near GHF aid hubs reached 700.
As of July 21, the death toll of Palestinians killed trying to access food aid reached 1,054.
UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East)'s Ms. Touma stated: “The so-called GHF distribution scheme is a sadistic death-trap. Snipers open fire randomly on crowds as if they're given a license to kill… This cannot be our new norm. Humanitarian assistance is not the job of mercenaries.”
As of July 24, the Health Ministry reported that there were 28,000 cases of malnutrition in Gaza, with over 5,000 recorded in July alone.
On July 29, IPC releases an alert stating that the "worst case scenario of famine" is unfolding in Gaza.
August 2025 - Today
Today alone over 79 people have been killed trying to reach food aid.

Oh I see... you think this has nothing to do with you? And you select, I don't know, that boho chic cowboy core getup for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you're different and alternative. But what you don't know is that that style is not truly bohemian, its not Western, its Native American. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that it was Southwestern tribes who originated the "Western" silver & turquoise jewelry, and the rug patterns used for horse saddles. And I think it was the Plains and Woodlands tribes wasnt it? Who beaded their tanned hide jackets with florals and fringed edges & beaded the brims of their hats & added Eagle feathers. And Soon Navajo Saddle blankets started appearing in four major saddlery catalogues, then filtered down through the runway, to the department stores, then trickled on down to the tragic internet trend where you no doubt fished it out of some White owned store. However, that fashion represents millions of dollars and countless styles appropriated traditional Indigenous fashion, and its sort of comical how you think you've made a choice that exempts you from a legacy of colonialism when in fact, you're wearing a fashion that was selected for you by the Native people of Turtle Island.

tried to explain to a white liberal that i felt weird seeing white people make racist sounding jokes about AI ("tin crow laws", "wirebacks/silverbacks", "my daughter better not come home with no god damn clanker") because of how ingrained it is into the "white" identity to incite genocide by inventing an outgroup, and how that's the only "white heritage" that exists because "whiteness" was invented 200 years ago from ideology.
i was told i was "flexing my history knowledge" for bringing this up, and then accused of promoting bioessentialism for saying racism defines white blood-- something objectively true, as "whiteness" cannot exist without an outgroup.
