Machete is like one of those surrogate sufferers where we imagine painful things happening to him so we can be happy.
God's special little boy. He sure is tested a whole lot.

Like I said once, being a Zelda fan is like microdosing on being a superhero comics fan:
Franchise exists for far too long and is way too financially successful for its own good;
"Modern mythology";
Countless arguments about lore/timeline™/canonicity that is inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and are relevant to a very small percentage of fans;
new director bad;
...And now, yes,
✨🔥The Cinematic Universe🔥✨.

I am old, Gandalf. I don't look it, but I am beginning to feel it in my heart of hearts. … Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

me: "I'm done with LO, I'm not having fun anymore and I know it's not gonna get any better"
also me every time LO updates:
Tumblr media
at this point i'm not hooked on the "yay, new episode!" dopamine, i'm hooked on the "can this possibly get worse???" dopamine that comes after being proven that yes it can, in fact, get worse, like it does every week beyond my wildest imagination

06. How do you want to die?
Oh. She had theorized a response to this earlier, didn't she? Yes, she remembers, she did. If she were to die, what she'd like to happen--not to her, but as a consequence. Not 'consequence', 'result' was more like it. If her death could somehow fix everything... But she doesn't die. Can't die. She's made of non-living cells--nanomachines that cling together to make up the very essence of her being. All her wants and desires and thoughts all existed within the conglomerate of machinery that was her. And she ran on solar energy, the Sun her never-dying battery that allows her to truck on and do what she does. Her memories in the form of ternary logic and trits live on and flip between 0, 1, 2, and back again. She moves with precision, her perception beyond that of human limits to make every action calculated down to the decimal to ensure she moved efficiently and with safety in mind. So how would a machine like her die?
In the great magnetic belts of Jupiter, where her code will begin to deteriorate and corrupt until all that's left of her is an empty shell, her hardware unable to access her power as it would lose all faculties to even be aware that she existed. A starvation of consciousness. Her body would then float in the vast emptiness until it reached the surface of Jupiter's moon Europa, where her form would slowly deteriorate and turn to dust with the passing of time, the coolant in her frame freezing and expanding until her frame cracked and crumbled apart to carry her away in great geysers of pressurized gas, up into the atmosphere and dispersed across the universe. She would disappear just like that.
But she can't say that. No, a machine contemplating their own death? Unheard of. That's too existential for anyone to process and she can't handle what kind of questions it would raise as a result to be entirely truthful.
Another half-truth.
"I cannot die. Not in the same way humans do. I can sustain damage, require repairs. But, I cannot die."
It may have also been a reminder for herself: She isn't allowed to die.
She made a promise. And that is non-negotiable.
