A little Tech Hunter AU oneshot I wrote for DP Angstfest 2023! I based this off of @kinglazrus' AU fic for the @dpauzine in which Tucker is the Red Hunter. It's been stuck in my brain ever since, so I couldn't resist writing her AU for this event!

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

That's what people always said, anyway. It's what actors spouted in Hollywood blockbusters as their characters sipped their old fashioned in the dimly lit bar. It's what people typed in their chat logs online, thinking of themselves as high and mighty, very cool, not to be messed with, while they cracked open their fifth serving-sized bag of Doritos that day.

But this wasn't a Hollywood blockbuster. It wasn't Tucker talking up himself to random usernames online.

As he looked at Danny, who was animatedly chatting to Sam about some recently released video game that Tucker couldn’t pretend to care about anymore, he knew that this wasn't just a cool verse. It was real, at least to him. 

“The final boss was way too easy,” Sam was saying. “It's like the devs weren't even trying.”

“I beat it in like five seconds flat,” Danny agreed.

“Yeah, because you exploited the armor glitch,” Sam said. “If you played the game like it was supposed to be played, the final boss would have taken at least a little longer.”

Danny tsked his tongue. “It’s not my fault that I’m obviously just one step ahead of the devs. And you, actually.”

“Come on,” Sam laughed, catching onto the mood. “Stop messing with me.”

Danny grinned back at her, his fangs poking out over his lips. “Samantha Manson, when have I ever messed with you?”

Tucker ducked his head before his face could show. Though, each day that passed seemed to allow that quiet mask to slip over his face far more easily than the day before. And he wasn't even talking about the little yellow mask that lived under his skin.

He remembered the day he'd pieced it all together. The day all the lies, all the little breadcrumb clues, suddenly snapped into place.

He'd been home, as usual, watching videos of the rapidly increasing ghost attacks targeting the city. And of course, at the epicenter of it all was Phantom.

Danny fucking Phantom.

He remembered Danny calling him, his face popping up on Tucker’s home screen, and Tucker pausing the video and holding up his phone to see the two faces side by side. The same smile, the same freckles, the same jaw and haircut and they were the same. 

He couldn’t believe it. But…it made sense. And maybe that was the worst part because it meant that his friend, his best friend, was dead. And worse, he’d turned into a monster. 

But when? When had he died? Was it that “accident” that he sometimes referenced? The day he’d gotten hurt by some of his parents’ equipment?

It didn’t matter. Because now, he was Phantom. But how was he Phantom? The ghost that Tucker loathed. The ghost that Tucker had long since blamed for turning their safe city into a fucking warzone.

How did his best friend turn into…that? Was death really so horrible that it completely changed a person? 

Or was this always inside Danny, deep down in the recess of his subconscious? So deep, so hidden, that Tucker had never noticed till now.

Some people saw Phantom as a hero, and he seemed to revel in it. His cockiness was overflowing, and he took great pride in arriving at every scene precisely when the new ghost of the week would show up. He'd throw a few puns, assure the crowd that, “Don't worry, citizens! I've got this!”, and then he'd beat the ghost up, suck them in his thermos, and would disappear until the next attack.

Phantom had fooled many of the masses. But despite what Dash's stupid nicknames would suggest, Tucker was no sucker. Even if everyone else had their heads up their ass, he didn't.

Tucker didn’t do anything at first. Maybe he’d just been in too deep of a denial. After all, who wanted to pin the destruction of their city on their fucking best friend? 

But then, he started paying attention. To Danny, the “human,” more. All his little quirks, his habits. The way he seemed to jump when Sam casually put a hand on his shoulder (he’d never used to do that), the way his teeth started to sharpen (humans don’t have fangs), the way his eyes would spark green sometimes (it wasn’t a trick of the light), or how he’d always disappear right before a ghost attack (almost like he knew they were coming).

But Tucker stayed silent. Because if Danny was Phantom, then Danny was dangerous. Who knew what Phantom would do if Tucker revealed that he knew? No, it was better to stay docile, not rock the boat, not put his life at risk. Just play it cool.

That plan only worked for so long.

The breaking point wasn’t an explosion of flashy lights so much as it was a seed, planted, but not yet even watered. It was Tucker booting up his virtual computer and opening Tor after school like any other day. 

The usual usernames were chatting in his group. People working on their various projects, coming to the chat room for tips or just talking about whatever other topic was on their mind. This was typical—welcome, even—after the confusing mess that had been Tucker’s every other waking moment as of late.

And then the conversation took a turn. 

To Phantom.

Sporksmith: I haven't wrapped my head around whether Phantom is a good guy or not. ChaseK: It's sus that as soon as the ghosts started showing up, so did he. Sporksmith: That's what I'm thinking, but the guy takes so many beatings a week. I feel like it's more likely that he's crawling out of the same dimensional holes that they are because the dude has family here or something. Mole: That's probably it. He uses modern slang, so it's pretty obvious he died recently.

This wasn’t the first time they’d talked about Phantom. He was a fascinating subject and under much national scrutiny. But this time, Tucker finally stepped in.

GoldenFryer: You guys don't know what you're talking about. ChaseK: You know something then? GoldenFryer: Yeah, I have some inside info. Can't say much, but Phantom isn't who he seems. He's dangerous. Sporksmith: You sound like a guy who's got something up his sleeve.

He hadn't, at that point. But still, it needled his mind. He was closest to Phantom, wasn't he? Even if Danny himself didn't know. Of everyone, wasn't it Tucker’s responsibility to do something about this?

To set the soul of his dead best friend free?

GoldenFryer: Not yet, but maybe I should.

Of course, he couldn't do it by himself, but there was someone who could help. Someone with money, power, and a vocal hatred for ghostly invaders.

“Tucker Foley,” Vladimir Masters said, opening his door. His hair was pulled back in his signature ponytail, and he wore a gaudy green Packers bathrobe. “You’re awake early on a Saturday for a teenager. My, where's your other half?”

“No Danny today. Just me,” he said, keeping his tone casual despite the sudden anxiety spike in his gut.

Vlad grinned and stepped aside, sweeping his arm over the now open doorway. “Excellent, why don't you come in?”

Tucker followed the gesture and stepped through the door, trying to ignore the guilt that was clawing at him. Danny always talked about how much he hated Vlad, and how creepy the guy was. And while Tucker agreed that Vlad was more than a little slimy, Vlad was a businessman, and more importantly, a billionaire. Being slimy kinda came with the territory.

And besides, Vlad had only moved into the town a year ago, after Danny had already turned into Phantom. So, it wasn't Danny who hated Vlad, not really.

“Come, make yourself comfortable. You're a bit too young for me to offer you a drink, but maybe some water, perhaps?”

“I'm fine,” Tucker said. His voice echoed around the empty house.

“Then sit.” Vlad pulled out a seat at the bar. “I just brewed myself a pot of tea. Maybe you'd care for some of that?”

“No thanks,” Tucker said, his voice jilted as he forcefully remembered his manners. Even if it was Phantom who hated Vlad, Tucker wasn't too keen on being behind closed doors with the man any longer than necessary either. 

Vlad paid him no mind, of course, and poured his tea into a fancy china cup. He brought the cup up to his nose, sniffed, and then smiled, setting it down on a small plate on the counter and settling into a seat for himself. “So,” he started, clasping his hands together. “What do I owe the pleasure of seeing you on this fine day?”

Tucker blew a breath out, trying to expel the mounting anxiety in his system. “Okay, I realize what I'm about to say sounds absolutely insane. I get that, but I just need you to let me explain.”

That slimy smirk was back on Vlad's lips. “Oh? Do tell.”

“Okay.” Tucker wrung his hands in his lap. “Okay, just—just hear me out. Trust me, nobody wants to say this less than me.”

“But of course, my dear boy.”

Tucker exhaled one last time and then began. “So, I know who Phantom is. You know, the ghost? I—he's disguising himself as a teenager, and I know who it is.”

“Oh, really? My, that doesn't sound good.”

“It's not.” Tucker closed his eyes, covering his forehead with his hand. “It's the worst, really. Because the person that Phantom is pretending to be—and I know, I know, just let me explain—but it's Danny. Danny Fenton.”

Tucker peeked through his hand to see the smile on Vlad's lips widen. 

“Daniel Fenton, my godson, you mean?” Vlad said. “That's quite the accusation.”

“I know it is. Trust me,” Tucker said. “But—okay, so basically, I think what happened was that Danny was in some sort of lab accident, and it killed him. He talks about it sometimes, but he doesn't give any details. But I'm pretty sure that was it. Because only like a month after that happened, all the ghosts started appearing. And Phantom too. I—uh, here. Hang on, let me show you...” Tucker leaned over and pulled his tablet from his backpack. He opened it and went to his files, opening a pdf of his comparison photos. He handed the tablet to Vlad, saying, “This is them side by side in different positions. You can really see it there, when the photos are lined up like this. They look exactly the same. But that's not all! Obviously.”

“Obviously,” Vlad said, swiping through the pdf.

“Look, I don't really know how to explain it, but Danny's just...he's different now. He disappears before ghosts attack, he comes back all beat and sometimes bloody. He's cold, way colder than normal, and sometimes I see him—when someone's annoying him or if he's pissed—where it's almost like...like he can't even contain his human form anymore. His eyes get green, and sometimes ectoplasm sparks in his palms. It's not human.”

“And you see this as...a problem?” Vlad looked up from the tablet. “If Daniel was Phantom?”

“Why wouldn't it be? Don't you have this whole initiative to get rid of ghosts?” Tucker argued.

If anything, that seemed to amuse Vlad more. He set the tablet down and said, “But of course, I wasn't insinuating anything. I merely just acknowledge that Daniel is your best friend and that most of you youths enjoy Phantom's presence in this city.”

“Only the blind ones do. I know better. Phantom is bringing the ghosts into this town. Mr. Masters, you know how all ghosts have Obsessions?”

“Yes, I am aware.”

“Well, Phantom’s Obsession is being a hero, right? What's more heroic than setting up a bunch of ghost fights to 'save' people from?”

Vlad's smile was almost impossibly wide now. “Yes, I understand.”

Something was amusing to that billionaire creep, but Tucker hardly had time to figure out what before Vlad was up out of his seat, pacing around his kitchen.

“You see, I already know all this. You understand, I'm the one funding this city's anti-ghost initiative. And I also know that young Daniel is Phantom.”

Tucker's jaw dropped. “You do?”

“But of course, I do!” Vlad pulled his phone from his pocket and tapped on it for a minute before passing it off to Tucker. In an encrypted app that Tucker didn't recognize was a video. 

“Well, go on,” Vlad said.

Tucker pressed play on the video to see a dimly lit alley with Phantom standing at the end of it. He glanced around, and then white rings appeared, passing over his body. A white T-shirt and jeans replaced a black suit, and black hair replaced white hair.

The rings disappeared, and the person that remained was none other than Danny Fenton.

Tucker blinked, and his head snapped out of the memory. His eyes refocused, and Danny Fenton sat in front of him, still talking to Sam, his posture still far too easygoing for someone who wasn't even human.

His human form was impressively detailed. His unruly black hair, dash of freckles on his cheeks, blue eyes, and pointed nose—all signature traits of Danny. He had gotten it almost perfect.

Almost. 

It made Tucker's blood boil, and he struggled to push it down, keep it in check. Ghosts could feel intense emotions.

The calm mask slipped over him once more, and Tucker was empty. Just empty.

Just how, when he stared into Danny's eyes, he could see that same emptiness too. There was no humanity left. No, that'd died almost two years ago now. All that remained was a ghost. 

He wanted his friend back. But that was impossible. The only thing that he could do now was wipe all ghosts out so no one ever suffered the way Tucker was right now.

He was a hacker, so once he got the tech, programming it was a piece of cake. Okay, so maybe it was a little bit harder than that, but he was nothing if not determined.

And he was nothing if not a damn good programmer.

And now he had the power to fix this, end the ghostly invasion in Amity, end Phantom's terrorizing reign, and set his former friend free.

“What do you think, Tuck?” Danny turned to face Tucker.

“Huh?” Tucker grunted, his elbow nearly slipping from his desk. “Sorry, what are we talking about?”

Sam rolled her eyes. “Jeez, you really have been spacey today. Sleep well last night?”

No, he hadn't, actually. Because Phantom had set up another attack at 2 a.m. and so Tucker had to intervene.

Danny was wearing long sleeves today. Good. It meant that Tucker's shot really had nailed his bicep.

“No, sorry,” Tucker chuckled. “Was rushing to get Lancer's essay done. I can't work on it this weekend; my cousins are coming to town.”

“Again?” Sam asked.

No, they weren't. Tucker hadn't seen his cousins since Christmas. 

“Yeah, my aunt and my mom are in this whole midlife crisis thing right now. Want to make sure we all bond properly or something.” Tucker waved his hand haphazardly. “You know how moms are.”

That was the perfect trigger for Sam, who huffed expectantly. “Oh yeah, don't even get me started. My mom is still trying to make me bond with Kate. Kate's two years older than me and was the head of her cheer team. Like, hello? You can only imagine what her playlists are like.”

“You should blast some death metal next time,” Danny said.

“Trust me, I have. It's the only way to get her to shut up.”

“Must not be death enough.” Danny flashed his teeth in a mischievous smile. “I’m sure I can help put together a playlist if you want.”

That cocky motherfucker…

Did he enjoy gloating over everyone? Did he really laugh at them when he was alone, all the stupid, idiotic, airhead humans who he thought didn’t notice anything?

Squashing his emotions was suddenly too difficult, and just before the internal tea kettle was able to whistle, Tucker was saved by the bell.

Oh, thank god.

Tucker was out of his seat before anyone else, scooping his notebook from his desk, throwing his bag over his shoulder, and racing out the door before Sam or Danny could catch up.

Still, when against his better conscience he glanced over to his friends, he didn’t miss the subtle look Danny gave him or the green glint in the corner of his eye…

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

If only it was easy.

The Hope Diaries // 29th December 2023

I was really unwell today after I came back from running with my friend. In fact I was really unwell from the moment I woke up this morning. I had some weird dreams. In those dreams I could stop you from leaving. I woke up and realised you had already left a long time ago. There was nothing I could do. I completely crashed. I was meant to go out with my friend K and wanted to cancel. But I went anyways. I’m glad I did. She is going through some kind of heartbreak too and it was nice to speak to someone who gets it. Everyone around me seems to be doing so well. I still found myself unable to talk about my issues, but I enjoyed listening to her. It made me feel less alone. How we all experience heartbreak and loss differently but in the same way. And how we all experience it at some point. It’s normal. I’m not this crazy monster alone on her own island.

She talked, I listened. We drank and ate. She had a Jagerbomb and a Moscow Mule. Talked more. I had a Cherry Coke and drove her back home. We sat in my mom’s car, lights off just talking for about an hour. This has been the first time in ages I felt more like myself. It was great to just put the world on pause for an hour. We chatted, laughed, sang the duet from the Phantom of the Opera. We reminisced about high school. I sometimes hate doing that, or sometimes love it. This time it wasn’t either love or hate. It wasn’t extreme. It was just fine. I looked at it more neutrally, it didn’t overwhelm me. I don’t know what the next few days or even the next few weeks will bring. But those parked car conversations, between midnight and 1am were special to me.

I drove back home in the early hours, listening to 'A World Alone' by Lorde. I felt free for a moment.

Purrcival Phantom is the 16-year-old Son of the Phantom Cats. He is a natural entertainer who is fun-loving, easy going and energetic. He is an extrovert who possesses great charisma and good social skills, making it fairly hard not to like him. Purrcy is charming and, while not boastful or in vain, enjoys the spotlight, being the center of attention and has a good sense of humor with a penchant for being overly dramatic. He loves to gossip, but often exaggerates his stories based on rumors for flair. While mischievous and a bit impertinent, Purrcy's antics are harmless and are simply playful in nature, often taking to being caught or scolded by others in good stride. Despite his wisecracking and impish demeanor, he has a very tender, sweet, and responsible side, especially towards monsters he cares about a lot. He has a protective drive and does everything to help friends calm down or lighten up again, usually with a perfectly timed, witty remark, that could come off as him not taking bad situations seriously, but that's also just his way of coping himself.

Y’know as much as I love the characters and lore of Monster High, I really think they missed the mark with Operetta. You can’t tell me the Phantom’s daughter wouldn’t be an obnoxious theatre kid.

So, BO2W Breakdown

Buckle up, this is gonna be a long one.

Here we’ve got Ganon’s...energy taking over Link’s arm. Ordinarily, I’d call it Malice, but based on what it turns into, I’m just going to be calling it corruption. We don’t get much information from this scene besides this expression:

Link’s grabbing the corruption with his other hand, and wincing. It looks painful. I personally think it’s for cinematic effect that it was included, but it COULD be a gateway into a Phantom Hourglass sort of mechanic--Link has to function on a time limit, or using the corruption’s power could drain his life.

Next we’ve got a closeup of Ganondorf. F in chat to the rehydration theorists.

And the closeups of his jewelry. The only significant thing I can see is his necklace, which looks like a cross between the Gerudo symbol and a Fleur de Lis:

But what I’M most interested in is this tie on his belt:

For one, it’s WAY bigger than it needs to be, and that’s deliberate. Ganondorf’s got a jewelry aesthetic he’s already hit above; everything else is gold, why not this bit?

Most importantly, you can barely make it out, but the designs either look Sheikah or Zonai--they’ve got that same kind of swirly busy pattern to them. The red tint and tan-ish lines in it makes me think it’s possessed Sheikah tech.

Next, we’re shown Zelda falling. This looks like it happens right after these two caps from the first trailer:

So we reach for her as the ground collapses, and evidently, we fail to pull her back up. So my next question for that scene is going to be what the in-game reason is for us not diving in right after her. Maybe we won’t get one, since the appeal of the original BOTW was that you could fight Ganon whenever you wanted.

Up next, we’ve got a skydiving shot:

The first thing to notice is that Link’s pose while skydiving is just about identical to his pose in Skyward Sword:

Second is that, yes, he’s falling towards a floating island, and that in itself is noteworthy, but he’s FALLING. There’s something either above him that he jumped off of, or a force that carried him high enough TO fall, and I doubt Nintendo’s encouraging magnesis flying.

So, there’s a few options: Loftwings making a return (which is unlikely, but a hope I have), something like Revali’s Gale boosting Link up for a cinematic shot, indicating that the corruption arm has that kind of power, or islands higher than the one shown here.

Now the island itself:

In Skyward Sword, Skyloft looks like this:

And (spoiler alert) we loose this island here over the course of the game:

Now, it’s not a PERFECT 1:1 match, as most things between games aren’t, but a quick rotate and overlay shows it’s got the same kinds of shapes between the two. The same “W” shape along the eastern side, the same tiny island off the northeast point, the same relative edges.

Now, I don’t know what happened to the plaza at South Skyloft, or the Knight’s Academy isle, but it could very easily be drift away from the central island.

The presence of other islands through the clouds seems to support that theory. Now let’s look at Link here:

The outfit is new. We haven’t, to my knowledge, seen one of this design in other games. My gut reaction to this image was “oh, we go back in time and we’re the first hero now!” because it’s vaguely reminiscent of Tapestry Hero.

But upon closer inspection, that theory’s null and void. Under Link’s tunic in the image above, you can see that he’s still wearing the shorts he woke up in in the first game. So either Sheikah boxers haven’t changed in 10,000 years, or it’s taking place in present day. Jokes aside, I’m curious to know if the outfit he’s wearing is modeled after Tapestry Hero.

Next thing to point out is the obvious:

Link’s arm here looks less prosthetic and more...withered, I almost want to say. The corruption here’s made his hand look frailer, and armored them up with Zonai patterns before it fades out at his shoulder. Based on how the tattoos look, I think they’re an artifact of the corruption taking hold.

Also, the belt here:

Aesthetic purposes, or specific function? The presence of the second, smaller one on the side reminds me of Skyward Sword’s adventure pouch, which could be how the new game handles inventory size:

Next we’ve got another flying shot:

It seems like he’s flying towards Ruined Skyloft, and you can see the bottoms of islands above it, possibly meaning that the sky serves as more than just a hub world like it did in Skyward.

Now let’s look at the paraglider he’s using. It’s new.

This is how the paraglider looks in the original BOTW. It looks like we still have the Rito symbol in the center, but other than that, there’s a LOT of changes here.

First off is the color. We’re now blue and gold. The shade of blue makes me think of the Kochi Dye Shop’s navy blue:

So, possibly a dyeable paraglider?

The new pattern surrounding the Rito symbol makes me think that it’s combining the paraglider with Skyward Sword’s sailcloth:

Other than that, there isn’t much else to say about the paraglider besides the handles looking like they’re made of bone. Craftable paragliders? God, I hope not.

Back to Link:

Here we have him in different gear than the last shot. He���s wearing the snow boots, he has a shield with a stylized Eye of Truth looking upwards, and he looks like he’s carrying a traveler’s sword and an unknown bow. The presence of the bow makes me think that the shield here is a lower tier item, rather than this game’s Hylian Shield equivalent.

Now, let’s get a better look at the horizon:

The trees here look a lot like the smaller trees you can find in Akkala, but there’s a distinct lack of red among them.

Then it looks like we’ve got some ruins at the furthest isle.

Whatever the rock formations are over there, they don’t LOOK natural.

Another thing I noticed is the bottoms of the islands.

These look a little too geometric to be natural, too. Now, this one, I’m a little muddy on, because it COULD be a stylistic choice. But it also reminds me of the Shrines if you clip out of bounds:

And a little bit of the dormant Gate of Time from Skyward:

My money’s on the cube-like nature of the islands’ undersides being deliberate, rather than just a far-off render.

And then there’s this thing!

What is it? It doesn’t look broken at all; look how nicely the roof(?) is kept. The ribbing on the sides makes me think it might be a Zonai thing, but the shape makes it difficult to figure out. A giant temple? An airship? A sloped coliseum? This thing haunts and vexes me.

Our next shot is presumably from one of the islands, based on the color. Here we can see that there are definitely ruins all over the place. Link is in the same gear as before, so I won’t touch on him.

This, however, has my interest. The design here has more geometric patterns--Zonai ruins?

We’ve got another one off in the distance here. Sky checkpoints, like Sheikah towers?

Now this guy here. There’s a LOT to look at. First off is the eye design, it’s the same sort of upward looking one that Link has on his shield in the previous shots.

The energy that’s pulling this thing towards its base looks like the same green energy that surrounds the arm holding Gan in place in Trailer One:

This stuff. That, plus the fact that the robot has to be pulled into its base rather than just existing, implies that either A: Link activates it himself, like a trial thing, or B: that the green energy here functions in the same way Malice does in the original BOTW.

This pattern at its base is intriguing, too. I don’t recognize the gold symbol in the center, but the green around it reminds me of the portals from Twilight Princess.

Which, yes, everyone’s already said that the Twilight Princess patterns look like Zonai things. But another thing this weird dial thing reminds me of is from Lanayru Desert:

On top of that, the color palette of this guy looks like that of the Lanayru Robots from Skyward:

BO2W robot on the left, Lanayru robot on the right. Given that Skyward is a lot more vibrant than other non-Toon Zelda games, I think this is a fair enough comparison to draw similarities from.

And then we get a closer view of the sky ruins from the last shot. I don’t know if the geometric pattern in the corner is a deliberate carving, or wear from time, but since the pattern looks ALMOST mirrored around the corner, I’m going to go with the former.

A better shot a few frames later. The robot has HANDS, which I do not like in any way shape or form. However, we get a better look at the sky ruins.

We haven’t seen this style of stairs before, to my knowledge. The pedestal out front looks like a light source, and it has the same floral egg thing the robot above has on each shoulder; the eggs could easily be a power source for Zonai tech. And at the top of the stairs, we see a pedestal, backing up the theory that these ruins function as our new Sheikah towers.

This is our next shot. Which...

Unikoblins. Can we talk about that? UNIKOBLINS.

Anyways, Link is here again in his old clothes. This is a very early game shot, because his right arm isn’t corrupted yet; this means we get to explore Hyrule before we embark on the main quest. Which gives rise to a question: Where’s Zelda?

The hopeful side of me wants to say that she’s a tutorial companion, like Navi or Tatl, at least for the beginning here. The pessimistic side of me thinks that she’s waiting for us at a predetermined location, and this is just part of getting to her.

Now the unikoblin structure itself is built on a Talus, meaning that the dev team at least intends to have more inter-monster interactions. But if you kill the Talus, does that mean that the base falls apart, or does it just drop down as a separate entity?

Also, what are these background ruins? The one on the left looks like it’s a distinctly different style than the one on the right. It looks almost like a giant guardian arm.

Our next shot is Link’s arm getting corrupted. Which, first of all, the effects look beautiful.

Now, we can see a corner of Link’s hip here, and we know that this is his right arm. So Link’s lying down here. Unconscious? Knowing how Zelda games like to start with Link waking up, probably. Although it looks like at least part of his shorts got an update.

We can see what looks like circuits here. It looks a bit like the electricity puzzles you can find in the Divine Beasts and Shrines in the original.

Then we’ve got these strange symbols.

Whatever this circular stone he’s lying on is, it looks a lot like the Zonai puzzle from the “A Fragmented Monument” sidequest.

This one that everyone thought was the Mirror of Twilight for years.

Our next shot is Link using the corruption powers against enemies:

The spike ball itself looks solid; the question is, is this a duplication power, or a visualization of how the spike ball is set into motion?

We see it barreling over a poor Unikoblin or two, but I’d like to turn your attention to the Moblin and the background.

The moblins here have helmets, and the bases, while they carry the same design, look like they have more cause and effect in mind. The left base’s rock, for instance; that’s a lot bigger than the rocks we got to play with in the last game, and it looks like we can barrel anything in the screen over with it.

The helmet, though, concerns me a little bit. It looks natural rather than forged; like it’s the moblin’s horn, just very much deformed. Does it mean a harder enemy, or is it just for flavor?

Our next shot is this strange flower thing. Note that Link’s right arm is perfectly fine in this shot, meaning that it’s still early game.

This is what Link’s flamethrower looks like. And this:

Is Zonai art.

So the question is, what IS the flamethrower? My first thought was that it’s either a new item in its own, or it’s a Sheikah Slate upgrade. The latter might sound a little far fetched, but Link in this game is right-handed, and in BOTW, he always held the slate in his LEFT hand when using it.

We have more of the weird faded designs that we saw on the Sky ruins:

And we’ve got some kind of pedestal or stage behind the ground flower thing:

It looks like it’s either an altar or a grave, from what I can tell. The stairs aren’t the same design as the ones in the sky, and there aren’t any patterns on it.

More importantly, though, is that this place is underground. This could be a part of the game you’re required to go through, in order to get to Raisin Gan.

A few seconds later, though, we get our answer to what the flamethrower is!

It’s a shield!

Off to the left side, we can see pillars with more weird scribblings towards the top. These match the Sky ruins’ pillar shape, with a narrow base and a wider top.

Our next scene is...weird.

We see a puddle splash in reverse. It’s hard to tell if it’s actually water or not, but the design on the ground implies that it’s either been there for a long time, or that that’s a dedicated splash spot. And the quality and zoom makes me think that this is part of a cutscene. Return of the timeshift stones?

We then see Link...surfacing out of the island? I don’t know how else to describe it. However, his arm is changed again, and glowing, meaning that this is a corruption power. And the “water” he rises out of here looks a lot like the puddle in the last clip.

We get a good look at the Zonai Lights:

A Sky ruin that looks like it contains a room:

And a glimpse of other isles’ ruins in the far distance.

And then as the camera zooms out...

We can place a location!

We’re right over Thundra Plateau!

We also get a mildly better look at the back wall of the sky ruin, which looks to be some kind of table:

The next scene is Hyrule Castle:

The ground shakes and it starts to rise up. However, notice that the columns surrounding the castle are now missing.

We’ve also got red sparks in the air, like we would have in a blood moon. However, due to the sky color, we can assume that this is a conscious decision by Gan himself, and that he isn’t drawing power from his surroundings.

We then see that power bleeding out of the ground. It’s MUCH more red than Malice is, which has always been a kind of burnt pink-ish color.

However, even though Ganon lifts the castle up, he doesn’t lift it very high.

The castle’s about triple the height it was. But since we’re talking Skyloft levels of floating islands, this is still pretty ground-level. What’s interesting to me, though, is that in this shot, despite the game now being about sky islands that we should be able to see from ground level...there aren’t any here. This, to me, means that there’s going to be a sudden appearance of the isles in the sky, rather than them simply being accessible now.

Streaming with Ranboo was always fun; Tubbo and Ranboo loved to stream together and just mess around, having fun.

Though, those two loved to play with each other. A lot. Whenever one of them had the chance to playfully mock or bully the other, they took it. Now, Tubbo was having technical difficulties. His OBS wasn’t properly connected to his Discord audio, so no one could hear Ranboo.

Ranboo being Ranboo, had to take this to his advantage and mess with his best friend a little bit. What kind of a friend would he be if he didn’t?!

“They can’t hear you- but I can hear you now. So just-”

“Oh? Is that so?”

“...Sit your ass down for a second, I’m trying to fix things.”

Tubbo explained to Ranboo, choosing to ignore his friend’s obvious teasy tone. Ranboo chuckled softly into his mic, causing butterflies to erupt in Tubbo’s stomach as he shook his head, trying to ignore the feeling, as he was on stream.

“Now now, don’t be mean, Tubbo. You don’t want me to make things worse, do you now? Now hurry up and fix the audio before I ‘accidentally’ make you curl up on camera.” Ranboo asked, a smirk evident in his voice. “Give me a break, okay? I-I’m working on it!” He urged, clicking away on his keyboard.

“I am so going to abuse this, you aren’t even ready.” His friend laughed, enjoying the situation he was in, leaning back in his chair. “What do you mean you’re gonna abuse this?!” Tubbo nervously questioned, trying to make it seem like whatever Ranboo was doing wasn’t going to happen.

“I think you know, Tubs. You know how bad I’m going to tease you, you’ll be blushing your lil’ head off and giggling your heart out. Hmmm? Trying to hide your reactions, I see?” Ranboo continued leaning in closer to the mic just so he can softly chortle in it, knowing that it makes Tubbo flustered. “Why would you say th-that?! Stop!” He smiled to himself, looking away from the screen to compose himself.

“Say what? What did I say now?”

“Dude… shut up!” Tubbo complained, a few giggles escaping and a big smile still pulling at his lips. “Why should I? You seem to be happy! Hmmm? What’s wrong?” Ranboo spoke softly, laughing at Tubbo’s stuttering. “Y- stop! Please!” He whined, desperately trying to fix the audio so he didn’t break on stream.

“Thanks for the suggestion, but no. I think I wanna see you break.” He chuckled, softly cooing into his microphone at the slow blush growing on Tubbo’s cheeks. “Ssss-cease! A-Actually shuhut up!” The boy giggled out, trying to sound as angry as possible, but they both knew Tubbo was having fun.

“But why, Tubbo? I know how much you love this- how much you love to be teased and put into a little ticklish, giggly, and flustered pile. Don’tcha? Don’t lie to me, now!” Ranboo continued his relentless teasing, his friend shaking his head and beginning to chant out a bunch of ‘stop’s.

“You never said no, tickle bug.”

“I will write a twit longer!” Tubbo playfully threatened, an exaggerated gasp emitting from Ranboo. “That’s not very nice, maybe I should tell you what will happen to big bullies.” He threatened, cackling at Tubbo stuttering over his words.

“Okay, I’m about to add you to OBS so you better stop this!” Tubbo announced, Ranboo sighing. “I guess I’ll just have to continue my fun after the stream, yeah?”

Tubbo grumbled, adding him to the audio and taking a drink of water. “Did you like what I said while they couldn’t hear me?” Ranboo started, “‘cause I liked saying it, it was fun.”

This was going to be a long stream.

It was a few hours later until the stream finally ended, Ranboo forgetting what happened earlier but butterflies continuing to grow in Tubbo’s stomach the more he thought about it. “So, what was that?!” Tubbo exclaimed in mock-anger, Ranboo furrowing his eyebrow.

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“The… the OBS thing…”

“Ohhhh, yeah! That was so fun.” Ranboo chuckled to himself, Tubbo whining something. “Didn’t you say y-you were gonna… y’know… c-continue?” He muttered, the other audibly cooing at him.

“I’d love to, I can’t get enough of your giggles and lil’ noises anyways,” Ranboo explained, noticing Tubbo’s camera was still on as he saw him curl up on himself in his chair. “Awww, don’t curl up on me now, I wanna see your smile!” He jokingly whined, smiling to himself at Tubbo shaking his head.

A muffled ‘no!’ emitted from the curled up boy, Ranboo just ‘awww’ing at him. “Why not? Are you flustered? Are you flustered because you can feel my fingers dragging up your sides, hmmm? Do you feel the phantom tickles?” He continued to tease, his ‘victim’ crossing his arms over his face, but the blush was visible on his ears.

“Shuhut u-uhup, you ahass!” Tubbo grumbled, peeking up at his screen to see Ranboo wiggling his fingers, quickly curling back in again like a hedgehog. “What? What’s wrong, Tubbo? I was just stretching my fingers!” He lied, giggling as his friend grumbled something and tried to insult him.

“Don’t be a bully Tubbo, you’ll make me cry! You don’t want to make the tickle monster upset now, do you?” Ranboo threatened playfully, the other shaking his head. “Yohou are nohot… thahat! Yohou lee!” He decided it was somehow a good idea to provoke even more, smiling to himself as he heard the evil chuckle emit from his friend.

“I’m the lee? Says the one curled up on his chair, a perfect meal for the tickle monster? Oh, how bad I want to scoop you up and nibble all over your ribs, Tubbo!” He exclaimed, giggling softly. “Or what if I were to go for your thighs, I know how much of a sweet spot that is for you. Hey, don’t whine at me- I know you’d love it if I just raked my nails up and down the backsides of them!” He continued, high pitched giggles filled with hiccups escaping from Tubbo.

“SHUHUT UP! Yohou suhuhuck!” He complained, rubbing his belly to try to get rid of all the ticklish butterflies and phantom tingles. “Awww, are you getting butterflies? I’m glad!” Ranboo snickered, a huge grin painting his face which Tubbo just grumbled at.

“I’ll kihihill yohou…”

“Oh?”

Long story short, this was going to be a long night.

Power Rangers Turbo

So I had an idea about how to improve upon the issues of Power Rangers Turbo which would begin with the movie itself... first off, the Zeo powers would be taken by sneaky means by Divatox who would steal the morphers by a machine or monster.... she wouldn't be after Lerigo or the volcano monster in this version but would want to take away the Zeo powers because she wanted to get back into the United Alliance of Evil by doing what Rita, Zedd and the Machine Empire couldn't do. Also in this version it would be in the movie that Zordon and Alpha were leaving, due to whispers Alpha was receiving about a being called Dark Spector who was truly rallying the forces of evil and they had to return to Eltar to prepare for war and also the rangers themselves (Tommy, Rocky, Adam, Tanya and Kat) are graduating high school. The Rangers would discover that the turbo powers and cars existed due to Billy having created back up powers back when he was part of the Zeo series but had them only activate when the rangers needed them. However the rangers themselves think carefully about their own lives and what they want to do, wanting to go away to university or some such so they decide to find new rangers where they would meet and chat to TJ, Carlos, Ashley and Cassie, each one of them talking about how they want to help people and become better than they were and they prove this through action like them helping out civilians when Divatox's second in command Elgar (yes in this version he ISN'T her nephew) tries to attack or rob a bank. Rocky however has a chat to his younger brother Justin who is just as willing to help out despite him being younger and a freshman in high school. They then gain the turbo powers and defeat Elgar and even form the turbo megazord in order to beat back a giant robot that Divatox built.

The series itself would follow the new rangers (back in high school) as they traverse life as rangers and Justin learns about his responsibilities. The old rangers would leave at the start of the series or the end of the movie. We would still have the emergence of the Phantom Ranger, Blue Centurion and the temporary existence of Dimitria too along with the idea that Divatox is her sister. The Blue centurion would arrive with the Millennium message but the rangers wouldn't have a clue what it would mean so he would leave to go find Zordon and Alpha. Phantom Ranger would fight against evil but also doesn't like the rangers due to his training and their lack of, despite this there would still be a flirty relationship with Cassie. The ending would still involve the blowing up of the command centre and everything else with the rangers losing their powers however they end up in space due to Justin and Rocky telling their Dad the power rangers need the shuttle.

Stressed blob!Au where whenever some kind of God/man made God gets stressed enough they turn into little... cute living thing.

Phil turns into a bigger then average fluffy crow and hides in the rafters of his little house in the tundra. Hiding away in a little straw nest with his hat over him and his beak peaking out so he can still breath. Either that or he’s flying around the SMP and being a little nuisance by following Tommy to Ghostbur/Alivebur around. he does this normally when his boys get to much and he physically can’t take the stress.

Techno turns into a pig that kinda looks more like a small dog then anything with tusks. He hibernates under his bed or in a pile of blankets and just generally does not like to be around people. Only coming out for food he easily keeps on low level ground in case something like this happens and Steve is placed on guard to not let anyone through, not even Phil.

Dream obviously turns into a little white blob with the smile face on. Though he rarely does it out of stress because he basically lives off that kind of adrenaline but he shifts more so when he’s hysterically sad. It’s his body’s way of saying Be Around People And Enjoy Them, You Fuck. This being said, in this form Dream needs to be constantly around people. Preferably tucked up close and warm to their bodies. If not he’s a giant ass cry baby, making high pitch sounds with fat tears rolling down his face.

There’s more ways the body would turn them into ‘blobs’ then just stress or when their feeling massive amounts of ‘bad’ emotions. More so when their possessed or hurt to heal faster.

In this case Dream, who Doesn’t Like It when he turns, actively fights against the Demon in his body and his own magic. Wanting to fight it out and not shift because if he shifts the demon would be ejected out of his body and be able to find another meat suite to control. It’s his own turnabout suicidal way of protecting his friends even though Dream is still hurting them.

This all comes to ahead when he loses against his magic and shifts after the third day of being tortured by Quackity. He’s surprised himself actually from lasting this long because Dream originally thought that he would absolutely lose his shit when Tommy was killed in his cell. The thought of the blonde not being able to come back alive because of Blob!Dream not able to speak the ritual of revival pushed him through though.

Quackity, or Sam, enters the prison to see Blob!Dream absolutely losing it. Sobbing and screaming as the physical phantom of the Demon flys around the ceiling. Luckily It doesn’t see the human that entered but more so the opening where the lava was. Flying out into the night to find a better human.

Quackity informs Sam, who also saw that Thing flying out of the cell, that something is really wrong. Even sending a picture of the chat of crying Blob!Dream who looks petrified at the sight of Quackity. Unluckily he doesn’t whisper it to Sam so the entire SMP sees Quackity message and the picture. Spiking fear into everyone.

Obviously Phil and Techno, the only two who also can shift, see it and even though both don’t necessarily like Dream their still protective. They know what it’s like to shift in hostile environments and what it could do to a God, especially to one so young as Dream is.

Everyone meets up at the still destroyed community house and are all awkwardly staring at each other as the video that the video cameras caught inside the cell and out of it play. Easily showing Dreams fight against his own overflowing magic and the Demon in his body.

Dream, who is finally free and now feeling his emotions on an all new high, comes over to Tommy. Still sobbing and squeaking out apologies left and right though no one can even understand him.

Techno and Phil, who basically gets the gist of it all, informs them what the Admin is doing and what he’s feeling right now. Though it’s Bad to inform every that it was a Dreamon that took over Dream. A monster so vile that even the Demons that plague the lands of Minecraft, both good like Bad and the evil ones, hate with a passion. He’s had a few run ins with some and their powerful.

This leads to everyone slowly piecing together Dreams motive to fight against it all. How such a sudden turn from sweet playful Admin to a powerful and hungry one and that no one even questioned it.

Sapnap was surprisingly the first one to cave. Reaching out and dragging the blob into a tight hug. His own tears running down his face as he tried to sob out his own apologies to Dream. Son George falls to his knees next to Sapnap and reaches out a hand to cup the blobs face.

It’s a while before Dream wiggles out of their grip and hips over to Tommy and Tubbo. Knocking his head against their legs while squeaking. Tubbo picks him up and cradles his half brother close to his cheek. Repeating “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so fucking sorry-“ while Tommy looks down at the both of them. Guilt and anger in his eyes as he’s still buffering from the knowledge that it wasn’t truly Dream whose done all those horrible things.

The adults of the server are standing off to talk about what’s going to happen. Phil and Bad driving the conversation and plan because both have experience of fighting Dreamons and what they’ll go for in a host. Which makes them also realize that Dream was the perfect one because of all his attributes.

He’s the Admin of a server, a young God who’s learning his powers and lines of immortality still, powerful, and very athletic and smart. He’s the literal text book definition of the perfect hosts for a Dreamon and it makes them furious that no one noticed the drastic change.
