I am being so serious when I say that Anne Rice did a very compelling narrative thing when she was like "postwar (and, implicitly, bipolar-world/Cold War) America gives the consumer such an abundance of illusory choices that they begin to yearn for negative liberty. This leads to charismatic religion, an obsession-by-comparison with both ~authoritarian regimes~ and The Past as represented by lack of choice (arranged marriage, monodiet, only one suit, etc.), and BDSM. Instead of being an armchair theorist about it I'm going to explain why it makes vampires sexy to suburbanites from the 70s"

Losing Weight to Be Healthy

As part of healthy objectives, there are goals that individuals establish among them, and one of those goals is to lose those excess pounds. This is the period that the majority of people define as being timid or embarrassed of the appearance. The trip will, without a doubt, be challenging, but it will be full of life if it is done the correct way. The purpose of this article is to provide an introduction to the science of weight reduction, including procedures and potential problems associated with weight loss, as well as the need to maintain a moderate lifestyle.
Introduction to Weight Loss for Dummies At the end of the day, weight loss is the consequence of the body burning off surplus calories that are not being used by the body. This is what is known as a condition of caloric deficit, which occurs when the body burns up fat that it has accumulated while it is being squandered. There are a number of different elements that might influence weight reduction. Caloric intake is the number of calories that are consumed on a daily basis via the consumption of food and water.
The calorie that is burned as a result of basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is derived from both physical activity and metabolic energy.
Hormonal Factors: They include insulin, leptin, and cortisol, which also comprise hormones that involve control of appetite and body fat storage.

Effective Techniques for Fat Burning
1. Diet plan
Diet is also one of the primary contributors to the process of fat burning. Accentuation;
Calorie Intake: An application or journal that will advise a person to eat fewer calories than he is burning.
Healthy Foods: Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole grains, excellent fats, and the rest enjoy a predilection
Portion Control: One uses tiny plates or measures his portions, and everything is eaten from enormous bags.
Avoid processed food: sugar consumption minimal, processed carbohydrates in limitation, and junk with high calorie contents.
2. Exercise Daily
This is the form of workout that burns off the fats and maintains the body appropriately fit.
Cardio exercises: This is jogging, swimming, or cycling with a high rate-related heart; calories are burned up.
Building muscles: This is muscular growth that subsequently raises metabolism; this burns off the fats.
At least 150 minutes of moderate work done in a week.
Engage Movement: Gradually integrate your normal physical activities like walking, gardening, or climbing stairs.
3. Hydration
Drink enough water for weight reduction via
Reducing hunger and absorption of calories
Increasing the metabolic rate
Improving digestion and health
4. Sleep and Stress Management
Sleep: Sleep loss influences hunger hormones, so overeating happens. Use excellent hours of 7-9 per night.
Stress: A chronic condition that is related to elevated production of cortisol. So it encourages the production of fat deposits. That's no worry; partake in the process of de-stressing via meditation and/or yoga, and also deep breathing.
5. Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is a really excellent technique of dieting.
Snack around and enjoy it. With this, there will never be a recurrence of binge
Never graze in front of the television or smartphone. To this hour, your body would have been pushed to react to excellent signals.
Gut Care
Pay attention to your hunger and fullness.
Dieting Mistakes
Ready to transform your body naturally? Click here to try Fat Burn Active today and experience the proven power of 11 natural ingredients. Boost your metabolism, burn fat, and achieve your dream figure with this recommended solution.
1. Fad Diets
Fads like extreme low-calorie dieting, detoxing, or monodiets may perform amazing for some time with a short weight loss, but these techniques are doubtful at best and harmful.
2. Overemphasize Exercise
Activity is vital, but it is a complement to a healthy diet. When the calories utilized are translated into more than that which is being burnt off by physical activity, the body system slips out of equilibrium.
3. Unrealistic Expectations
The body cannot withstand the unreasonable expectations. Rather seek modest and consistent weight reduction of 1-2 pounds a week.
4. Skipping of Meals
The dietitians very much oppose the current tendency to miss one of your meals since, if done, this instantly decreases the level of your metabolism, raises the want to eat, and ultimately ends up eating even more.

I thought this was less common that I believed, but it's apparently a thing so: If you have been raised or chosen to consume media only in English, and think your native language(s) aren't as good, it's never too late to change that attitude. Listen and sing to music in your language, do it proudly, from the heart. Read books from your country. Watch movies and series from where you are from. Write posts in your language, don't be afraid of showing off your dialect. And try to learn about media from other countries that aren't the US. You will find something enjoyable, promise.
English has many great things about it, and like it or not, it has taken the place of a global lingua franca -indeed I'm writing this post in English so I can reach a larger audience, in a way- but we should not let it replace global culture. So many languages are endangered, and so are their cultures. Don't lose a part of yourself just because English is "cooler". Don't subscribe to a monodiet of English-speaking media, don't let the world be a monoculture. Don't let artists from your place in life, who don't have the global reach of Hollywood or Silicon Valley, be unheard. Speak your language.

. . #curedetox #detox #curederaisin #monodiete #antioxydant #raisins #uva #ampelotherapie #therapie #beautenaturelle #bellepeau #nature_perfection (à France) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEgeiujCu3f/?igshid=r5kp112zxw31

good morning!! we slept in till 7:15 which was so nice—turns out it’s lovely to get up with the sun instead of in the middle of the night haha. my college best friend is on a long road trip so we chatted for an hour and a half early this morning. it was really good to catch up with her and I got a lot of little chores done around the house while we were on the phone (my fave way to do chores lol I can do literally any household task if I have a friend on the phone). it was drizzling off and on this morning but it’s become a lovely clear day so I’d like to get up and get out of the house.
but first I want to chat a little out loud in my public diary!! I’ve been really good about cooking this week and I was thinking that I want a major goal for the next year to be to get into really solid eating and cooking habits… and to really focus on developing a repertoire of simple, healthy meals that I can lean on during (fingers crossed) the first couple years of having a kid. I know that under stress I default to takeout + microwave meals but I’ve made sooooo much progress in reshaping my eating habits over the past five years and I don’t want to backslide too much. I will never be someone who cares deeply about food or is interested in preparing super complex meals, but I know that for me making food is a way of concretely demonstrating care for my body/self, and when I stop doing that it means I’m probably letting a lot of other things slide too.
I’ve also been journaling a lot about what I want the cornerstones of my parenting practice to be—like, those few core things that are so important to me I want to spend a lot of time consciously laying the groundwork for them now so that even if I’m under extreme stress I’m prepared to make decisions that are aligned with those core goals/tenets/whatever. I hope that in general as a parent I can be flexible and decently committed to not sweating the small stuff when it comes to most things, but I want those few foundational things to be really solid, yknow?? and one of those things is food. I had such an unhealthy and confused relationship with food for so long, partly because it’s just real fucking hard to grow up as a girl immersed in our country’s batshit crazy and deeply cruel diet culture! but also I just was so uninformed about nutrition and so limited in my palate (that American monodiet), all of which made me more susceptible to the pressures of extreme binge dieting. I think my parents did a lot of small things right (in terms of not letting us eat much fast food, never allowing soda or other high calorie drinks, placing limits on sweets etc) but I also know they were raised on that same Midwestern monodiet and didn’t have much (or any) exposure to alternative ways of eating.
I really want my kid(s) to have a healthier relationship with food than I did, to have an internalized understanding of the basic nutritional principles behind what they eat, to eat the same mostly plant-based whole food diet I eat, and to be involved in preparing yummy non-processed meals for themselves from a young age. but of course in order to do this I have to really solidify those habits in myself too and equip myself with the knowledge I need to pass that knowledge on! as I said I have made a LOT of progress on that front over the past few years, but I want to make those habit changes even more ingrained and automatic for myself. I was thinking about how to make this into a fun project for myself—like something where I can see tangible progress and create something in the process—and I think I’ve settled on making a little personal cookbook for myself where I try a new simple-to-make plant-based recipe each week, take a photo of the meal and print it out, and write out a recipe card that includes advice to myself (like, tips for simplifying prep or preparing ahead of time to save time or putting a little garnish on it to make it look prettier)… and I’ll also include a breakdown of the nutritional components of the meal (not calories but like: this is a veggie-heavy meal with some healthy fats, or this is a protein-heavy meal but here’s how you can add extra veggies or pair it with a lighter meal earlier in the day). and then I’ll put the “cards” into those clear plastic sheet covers and store them in a binder organized by type of meal. I also really want my child to be involved in preparing food from a young age (I literally did not learn how to do a single cooking thing beyond boiling water until after college) so maybe as I go I can also leave myself little sticky note ideas for simple parts of each meal that a small child could contribute to. that way when I’m tired and frazzled a few years down the road I don’t have to expend any cognitive energy on figuring that stuff out—I can just be like oh ok so here’s where a kid could chop something soft with a plastic knife or here’s where we could pause and measure something out together.
anyway I am having fun working on it already! I haven’t started making the cards yet (I want to test out some possible templates and maybe buy some cardstock paper & other supplies) but I’m having a great time experimenting with recipes this week. last night I had friends over for dinner and I made these delicious sweet potato pita pockets with this lightly pickled cucumber salad liz made for me a few weeks ago… all of which takes about 10 min to prep and 20 min to come together. and then for breakfast today I’ve been trying to find easy alternatives to the handful of processed foods I still eat regularly, so I looked up how to make oatmeal in a rice cooker and made myself delicious fresh apple cinnamon oatmeal without any added sugar or preservatives. I also made that sweet potato chickpea curry earlier this weekend which is a great “make it in bulk and eat it all week” meal that feels fancier and more complex than it really is. and I found this “prepare ahead” veggie power bowl recipe I’m excited to try where you can roast a wide variety of veggies and cook a grain in advance, then mix and match throughout the week based on what combos sound good any given night. I think that doing the nutritional breakdowns will also be a good learning experience for me—I have a health condition which puts me at higher risk of insulin resistance/diabetes and can also affect fertility, and this will be a good way for me to drill myself on the glycemic index & help me figure out which meals are best for managing blood sugar spikes.
anyway it should be fun!!! since moving I’ve found that one way to really motivate myself to explore this new area is to ask myself “what new place will I check out this week?” and then to make it a priority to try a new park. and then on the day to day level too I try to ask myself “what’s a new thing I can try today?”, so I’ll turn left instead of right on a walk and explore where that takes me. I am so intensely a creature of habit & routine that I think it’s really good for me to build a habit of trying new things—otherwise I’ll just do the same thing over and over by rote. I’m the same way with eating so I’m hoping the same principle applies here! if I can build a habit of “each week I try out a new thing!” I can broaden my horizons a bit… and maybe I can even do some “what’s a new thing I can try in this meal?” thinking too to encourage myself to like, idk, try different spices or ratios or make interesting substitutions just to see how it turns out. plus I’ll have a BOOK of things I made by the end!!! like even if I just try 1-2 new things per week for a year that’s 50-100 options I’ll have in my repertoire, and then I can curate that collection however I want.
#I’m psyched#for whatever reason I’m having trouble with creative projects right now#maybe writing fiction isn’t the part of my life I want/need to creatively explore right now#maybe there are other spheres I can use my creativity & joy-in-projects to pursue#parenting tag#but I think I can prevent myself from falling into a despair about it by just embracing a wider definition of creative projects#baby tag#food mention#food tag

Headcanons about Eric and Freyda:
Eric never went back to his own room that first day, too tired to care and secretly craving company. When he woke up the next evening, Freyda's fingers were threaded in his hair, cradling his head as she slept.
He thought he would loathe living in a landlocked state, but Freyda's property had a massive, man-made lake that they both liked to wade into during the frigid winter months, reminding them of the North Sea.
As soon as Eric proposed doubling the length of the marriage contract in exchange for Sookie's safety and the assurance that Pam would become sheriff, Freyda knew she would offer to release him from it much earlier. He deserved as much.
When Sookie choose not to intervene in his predicament, Freyda was stunned into a quiet rage. She couldn't believe the woman he loved so much was unwilling to fight for him.
Eric had been to Freyda's hometown once a long time ago, when he had been part of a Viking raid that conquered the settlement. When he told her as much, Freyda laughed and said she had conquered a far greater prize—him.
Freyda offered to send someone to murder the "tricky little shifter" when Sam weaseled out of Eric's bargain, but Eric did not want Sookie to hate him any more than she already did. His new wife wanted to ask why he cared about her opinion at all, but she wisely dropped the subject.
Eric found he was well-suited to his auxiliary role where he was given authority and respect, but did not have to deal with the complications that came with being a monarch.
Once Pam was established as the new sheriff of Area 5, Freyda invited her to come for a surprise visit. When Eric saw her, it looked like light had reentered his life, and Freyda insisted her door was always open to his progeny.
Freyda spoke Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish. She was the only one who understood what Eric was saying when he cursed under his breath in Old Norse during tense meetings, and she had to resist the urge to laugh when he secretly called one of her advisors a stupid goat-fucker.
When they wanted a private word together, they spoke Swedish, sometimes remarking on the absurd customs of the American vampires with a sense of European superiority.
Freyda's mansion was spacious and modern, but filled with a sense of Danish hygge. On nights when they could be alone, Freyda liked to lay on the plush fur rug in front of the fire and listen to Eric tell her about his friendship with Leonardo da Vinci, or the time he was almost ritually sacrificed by a group of furious Gaelic witches on a full moon. He would lay his head in her lap while he talked, and she would stroke his hair.
Eric was determined never to ask Freyda for any favors, but she seemed to read him intuitively and granted his desires without prompting. She wanted him to find happiness as her consort, and eventually, he did.
Even though they shared a bed, Freyda refused all of Eric's sexual advances for a while. She was determined not to let him pursue her out of a sense of obligation, and would put her finger to his lips whenever he tried to kiss her. Usually this worked, but one night he pinned her beneath him with a possessive growl and captured her mouth in a bruising kiss. "Let me taste you," he rasped, dragging his lips down her torso and burying his nose into the fine hair between her legs. "That's no way to address your queen—" she began, but she fell silent under his sweet ministrations, his hands firmly circling her wrists.
Freyda was not a fan of True Blood, so she had a variety of donors instead who would sometimes eat a monodiet of a particular fruit to lend their blood a particular bouquet. When she asked Eric what he preferred, he said, "Oranges."
Eric stewed in bitter solitude for a week after he received a photo of Sookie on her wedding day. Freyda did not summon him for state business and let him keep to himself, privately musing that the capricious woman was not worthy of his devotion. When he did not come to bed one morning, Freyda found him seated in front of the fireplace in his office with a small thank you card laying on his desk. She picked up the card and read over the impersonal note of thanks for a set of fine silverware, written as though he was nothing more than a kind acquaintance. "She did not hold you in high esteem, this girl," Freyda said very quietly. Eric's shoulders were stiff and his chin rested on his fist as he stared into the grate, the flames reflected in his blue eyes. "No," he murmured. "She did not."
There was a large stable on the property, and sometimes the queen and her consort slipped away from their duties to go out riding under the light of the moon. When it was time to go back, Freyda would challenge Eric to a race, which she usually let him win.
Eric was ruthless toward anyone who disrespected his queen, and once tore off the head of a would-be assassin in the middle of a grand party, spraying the foreign dignitaries they were entertaining with a shower of blood. When they returned to her bedroom later, Freyda pulled him into the shower and worshipped every inch of him with her tongue.
Whenever Pam was in town, Freyda always scheduled a girls-only spa day so they could catch up and talk about their primary mutual interest: Eric. "When you stole him from me, I wished you nothing but the true death," Pam drawled on one such visit while they both lay facedown on massage tables. "But perhaps it was the only way to free him of Sookie." Freyda considered her words in silence for a long moment. "Do you think he's happy?" she asked. "As happy as a caged bird can ever be," Pam observed.
On their following anniversary, Freyda offered Eric his freedom. He pulled her into his lap in front of their guests and nibbled on her ear affectionately. "Have you grown tired of me, your Majesty?" he asked in Swedish. "Not in the slightest, my love." She pressed her cheek against his as his large hands squeezed her hips. "Then I reject your offer," he murmured. He kissed her lips reverently. "I am yours."
