So anyway I'm gonna take a break by making those wrist straps for canes starting with your classic rainbow pride.

Should I make them available to preorder on my store?

If people can start sending in orders for pride wrist straps (or possibly a commission option for custom ones like the custom bracelet) I could put the money from the first few orders towards buying the rest of the supplies and even shipping

I know earlier someone said they had friends who'd be interested and that got me excited

For info:

The straps, like the bracelets listed in my store, are pride themed and made of light weight soft embroidery floss so you won't have to worry too much if having something on your wrist is a sensory issue for you. They're hand woven with multiple strands depending on the flag colours, same thread my mom and I use for small sewing projects really. I'm going to use a bead to tie them off so I might add an option for bead choice. And they'll be attached to the cane with a simple stretchy band and one of those circle key chain things, the last two I can get from Michael's or staples, the beads if I run out I can pick up from the dollar store where I get the threads.

The only thread I really worry about with sensory issues is the metallic threads (gold and silver) which tend to fray at the ends easier than the embroidery floss but since I'm tying it off with a bead the ends will be closed and shouldn't be an issue

Any input is really helpful, if people are interested in ordering early to help pay to get them made and shipped that would be awesome

At the moment I'm trying to save up what I do have for my meds and upcoming appointment. So I don't know if I'll have anything to spend on the supplies I need just yet.

Hey, y'all! Can someone please please tell me about the process for finding the right motorized wheelchair??

I've needed an electric wheelchair for years, and I've finally gotten the right prescription and the wheelchair-accessible housing I need.

But now I need to pick a wheelchair, and I STILL don't even know where to start.

The main issue is that I have no way of trying out different models of chair, and so I have no way of knowing what will and won't hurt my back - and so I ALSO have no way of knowing if I need a custom wheelchair or not.

I live in the United States in a major metropolitan area, and my insurance will ONLY pay for one chair, so as far as I know, it needs to be the right one on the first try. (Unless there's a trial-and-return policy? I have no idea. I have Medicare and Medicaid.)

I feel like there must be some kind of specialist who can help me find the right chair, but no healthcare provider I've seen has had that kind of expertise.

Where do I find these people? What do I do?? How can I find a place that allows me to try out different chairs?? Literally any advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance. <3

Personally I think that they would use a 'discreet' cane at first because they're scared of standing out.

However, once they get closer to Nightcord and start developing more confidence, I think they would go for a musical theme with their cane, maybe with some florals in a muted or monochrome color scheme.

Finally had a chance to post my customized mobility aids. First up, my cane!

Pictured: a foldable purple cane covered with stickers of cartoon ghosts, cats, spiders, and candy. End picture ID.

Next up, my found-for-free-on-social-media-that-I-painted-and-fixed-up walker! It includes my handmade glow in the dark dinosaur basket, custom made grippers, and a custom paint job. It is an electric blue base, accented with sky blue for the wheels and bottoms, with lime green accents around the rings in the middle. The basket and hand grippers are made from a Dollar Tree blanket with various dinosaurs that if left in the sun long enough DO glow in the dark. It is all made by me.

i really wanna decorate my cane

i wanna paint it but acrylic hardly sticks and im not even going to try watercolour or gouache

my friend did suggest using nail polish like a base to give the paint to stick on but im not sure how well that would work and i done exactly have a lot of nail polish i can spare like that.

i dont have stickers to cover it in either plus they dont last too long

anyone got any ideas?

the cane is a foldable metal cane, i can get some of the paint to stick for acrylic but it takes several layers and i only have so much

edit: thanks for input but im flat broke and sanding the surface is the only option i have ^^;

im gonna see about finding the sandpaper whenever i have the energy for it because i know my parents have some somewhere, then i can go back to painting my cane with acrylics

Yosano is a walker (specifically a rolator) user and Chuuya is a wheelchair user

"I lierally have a whole backstory for them which starts with the fact Yosano's rolator is customised with stickers and patches and custom fabrics because she hates using it. Chuuya has a medical episode/flare up and is forced to use a wheelchair of an extended period of time and feels awful about it. So to help him 'recalim' his mobility aid, Yosano helps him get patches and decorate the wheels. Also they're t4t and kiss."

ykw I’m all about being aware of other disabled ppls experiences and acknowledging ones privilege but it is absolutely deranged and nasty behaviour to tell a multiply disabled person that they’re lucky to be hireable enough to be worked to death for minimum wage i hate internet disability olympics so much
