The way Nie Huaisang and He Xuan were both characters who weren't inclined towards martial arts or cultivation but were interested in art and knowledge. They were both interested in more sophisticated things, things that help in building a civilization and its culture instead of weapons that were used by many throughout history to destroy.
Thinking about how both of them meticulously planned their revenge for decades( or centuries, in the case of He Xuan) so that they could destroy their enemies.
Also, thinking about how their desire to take revenge was born out of their love for their families. How they were both people who were loved by their families..
Something like, "Do you know the gentleness it took to become this violent?" ...

omfg i just accidently deleted an ask abt percy being suicidal when i was trying to respond WTF bruh im so sorry but this is for you i hope you see this it was anon sorry pookie
the q was simply “is percy suicidal?” and asking for context
ok so basically no one has every come out and said “percy is suicidal” rick has never said this through what i know HOWEVER
it is smth that is deeply written into the text of the series not that he’s actively grabbing a knife or smth but that he is VERY prone to this line of thinking
many ppl point to the beginning of pjo when percy would pretty often talk abt dying and wanting to die or allowing himself to drown or just dark humor in that way; when i first started reading it was smth i never really noticed as anything other then a dramatic tween but once you get to hoo (along with looking at the amount of insecurity and low self esteem percy has in pjo) it kinda hits a limit
in hoo there’s an entire scene where after getting out of tartarus he’s fighting some bitch i forget who (polybotes) and gives up not trying to protect himself when he was literally in his element and later admits to jason that he thought he deserved to choke on poison
and DIE like it’s not like he’s saying “meh yeah i thought i’d give up and give them a chance 💯💯” like he is fully aware that stopping would kill him and he was going to allow that to happen
you could also pair this with percy almost drowning both himself and annabeth in tartarus with this; after they land in cocytus (river of depression literally) annabeth (though extremely distressed) has a pretty decent time swimming and staying alive in the water after the initial shock however percy almost fully gives up pulling them under and is much harder to break out of the “spell” (the voices)
a lot of this can be chalked up to traumatic events being tired or scared or all three but an easy gateway to suicidal ideations can stem from those things and percy’s been dealing with all of those the majority of his life
so yes and no if you want to say percy isn’t be my guest ? but this aspect of his life is such an interesting thing to pull apart because his reactions to the things he’s had to live through is one that’s extremely human and i feel like really breaths life into the sort of “reality” these characters live (if that makes sense lmao)
i feel like that last para sounded rude im not trying to be but idk how else to word that LMAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and here’s the quotes (i recommend rereading pjo for the early stuff bc i’m not picking that apart but if someone else wants to they can)
if there’s anything else lmk and i won’t delete it next time i swear :(

Peerless Confusion: the ending of svsss book 3
One second we're in a collapsing cave trying to remove Xin Mo's influence in the most painful way one could think of, causing everyone involved severe emotional AND physical damage. Then I turn the page and boom, it's sunshine and rainbows on Cang Qiong Mountain. Everyone is alive and well the world is restored and the suddenly happy couple rides off into the sunset. Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, what the fuck happened??

Not a forced ghost marriage ceremony for Chu Wanning and Mo Ran 😭🙏
Also can I talk about how significant this feels to me symbolically ??? Because Mo Ran was indeed very dead before he transmigrated into his 15 year old self and so was Chu Wanning. The marriage being between “ghosts” seems like the starting point of a do over of whatever the fuck that had been going on between these two in their previous life. Putting old ghosts to rest, starting afresh?
Mo Ran knows and somewhat regrets the atrocities he committed towards his Shizun and while he had kept him as his concubine, he had inevitably intwined their souls through a deep forged hatred and lust. All of this was done against Chu Wanning’s wishes and forcibly, with Mo Ran taking on the role of an abuser.
This forced marriage has them both on an equal footing for once. They are both unwilling but no one can go against it until and unless they want to die. Mo Ran is put in Chu Wanning’s shoes, although I’m pretty sure his idiot ass does not realise it. It’s what I would say, a shift in the dynamics?? Idk how to explain it, I’m still on the 14th chapter only and I do not know many key plot details but this is what I pieced together.

To make up for not posting the latest chapter yet, take a vague blabbing for a new MDZS/MXTX au I've been gnawing at! AU where the gods were pushed out by the mortals that once worshipped them, fleeing to another plane of being and leaving little of their existence but a few spiritual weapons that had been abandoned in the hurry to escape the burning. Nobody could find these spiritual weapons unless they wished to be found by a certain person - a reminder of their respective god, similar to how they were back when they roamed the earth. When these spiritual weapons were found, those that wielded them could be seen as gods in their own right, stories and legends spreading out and replacing those of the very divine that had left behind these weapons. Nobody could wield a spiritual weapon unless it wanted to be wielded, no matter what form it took.
Of these legends, none ever stuck out more than the three swords that had apparently been left by three gods of darkness, close and unwavering in their bonds. These three swords, unlike the other forgotten spiritual weapons, came with a cost to be used - but everyone argued that the cost would always be insignificant compared to the power that the swords held within. The first sword unearthed, incidentally the newest of the three blades, was found by one who was desperate to find and protect their one beloved - they offered an eye in return for power, and the sword responded by offering (most significantly) more sight than ever before. This sight took form in haunting silver butterflies that could kill just as easily as they could fly, likely spotted hunting down whoever the wielder was searching for. This blade was named E'ming. The second sword, the eldest of the three blades, was found by one who craved power so they could stop feeling so weak in a world that scorned their very existence. In return for a space in their mind, the sword gave them the power to rip through the fabric of reality itself, the ability to bring anything they desired to heel. Magic pulsed through the air every time its blade was used in battle. The wielder soon rose to infamy with their blade, Xin Mo, firmly in their hands. However, the third sword (or, the second sword to be forged) was never held, never found within the three realms - seemingly disappearing from existence. Despite the wielders of the other two blades searching across the lands for the final person to complete their trio, neither the blade nor the final wielder was ever found. The stories dropped off into myth and soon everyone refuted the idea there could ever be any truth to these myths, forgetting about the world of magic and gods. Until the day, hundreds of years later, a young man cried out for help.

I think what Original Luo Binghe did to Shen Jiu parallels what happened between Wei Wuxian and Wen Chao. Let me yap.
Look this might sound stupid to you but I just rewatched MDZS and I JUST saw some similarities with PIDW. After coming out of the Burial Mounds, WWX literally tortured WC before his death. The Burial Mounds is a place of literal torture and WWX went through HELL in it without his golden core. Because of what? Because of WC, he's the one who threw him into there.
It's an eye for an eye. WWX must've gotten his organs rearranged, bones crushed by constant attacks from walking corpses, eaten corpse fingers to survive, and many other horrors MXTX didn't mention. So WC SHOULD feel all of that, as payment for his sins to WWX and all other people he inflicted.
With LBG and SJ, the Endless Abyss is almost no different than Burial Mounds except it's festered with demonic instead of resentful energy (I think they're not really the same type?) and various types of beasts iirc. So even with his golden core, it's still harder for LBH because he barely knew how to avoid or fight them, where their weak spots are, etc. And instead of 3 months, it's 5 YEARS so it's enough time for his hatred for SJ to fester like a fairytale witch's soup. In the very beginning, he must've also gone through hell. Maybe the beasts ripped his limbs apart, stabbed his eyes, pulled his tongue out and only because of his Heavenly Demon blood that he recovered himself back (probably). It's very different from running away from resentful corpses because you KNOW just how to fight them off, even though it's just impossible for their number.
So, seeing LBH making SJ into a human stick doesn't surprise me too much. It's the case of an eye for an eye. No, it's still wrong, I'm not justifying it. I'm just making my analysis. THAT'S why it reminds me so much of WC's death.
Even both of the MCs have a demonic object in their hands, the Stygian Tiger Seal and Xin Mo. Both are untamable and capable of driving their holders insane. What differs our MC however—is that WWX has things to lose, and that's why he's often shown to be holding himself back from a killing spree. Hell, he's even the actual most righteous character in the novel.
While LBH doesn't have anything left to lose. He doesn't have a family, friends, all these wives and servants probably don't mean much on him. Also, his demon blood affects his mindset, giving his brain more "predatory instincts" as I'm gonna call it. Added with the fact that he spent more time in the Endless Abyss and how his mind had been corrupted by Xin Mo, LBH would pull a "No More Mr. Nice Guy, Heh >:)". That makes him not so kind as to give SJ the mercy of death. He probably wanted to keep SJ alive for 5 years or maybe forever til his brain finally decides "yep, that's it, go die or whatever idc anymore". Yeah, until BingggeMei extra happened and we could probably assume SJ's death is never gonna happen, but that's for another story nevermind.
However, it does mean that the latter won't hold himself back. The point where he crosses the line is when he burns down the CQMS, kills the Peak Lords, and even went so far as to merge the demonic and mortal realms. That's what differs him from WWX, so much. It's literally canonically said that he's not the nice kind of protag.
SO in conclusionwhen I see people talking about how "SJ didn't deserve all that", I'm between agreeing and disagreeing. What LBG did to SJ is terribly inhumane, but that's to be expected from a demon emperor like him. Hey I'm a SJ stan, it doesn't mean my views are completely biased. Especially considering what LBG possibly went through in the Endless Abyss for five years as a mere disciple without a sword like Xuan Su.
I think this is why PIDW readers rooted for LBG, because the story was from his POV. Tragic MC, thrown into the pits of hell by his cruel master. Our perspective is widened through reading SV and we can see the tragic POV of SJ and so we start to root for him too. No, it doesn't mean that either of these 2 are completely right in their choices, the both of them are very flawed and they're trapped in this cycle of abuse, very harmful to the surroundings. We can't fully fault or justify them. Yes, they need therapists, perchance one hidden behind a very powerful barrier in case any of them decides to attack the poor therapist.
But this realization—the parallels between LBG&SJ and WWX&WC—just kind of amazes me. Okay, ted talk ends, thank you for surviving through, if you don't have any nice words to say please scroll away :(

TGCF SPOILERS
This is a major spoiler do not open it unless you're done w TGCF.
Tumblr media
Jun Wu and Mei Niangqing's relationship somewhat mirrors Xie Lian and Hua Cheng's. A foil, maybe?
I saw a fanart recently of Hua Cheng painting Xie Lian but I had to readjust my eyes because at first glance I thought it was Mei Nianqing painting the Crown Prince of Wuyong.
🎀 Also yipee first long yap sesh post 🎀
pls take my yapping as a grain of salt; i also think other ppl posted abt this already and if that's true i didn't see it yet
Which he does at like, book 7 or 8, I don't remember, I was trying to study for government while reading the book. Mei Niangqing paints murals of Jun Wu and his four vassals around Mt Tonglu so Xie Lian and his gang can find out the truth.
Many readers did establish already that Xie Lian is Jun Wu's mirror/foil because like that was what leads Jun Wu to be obsessed with molding Xie Lian to be like him. They're too alike, it's almost eerie, but let's be honest, Jun Wu was rigging Xie Lian's fate so he will end up like him. Let's focus on HC and MNQ
That being said, here are some scenes I remember that kinda mirrors MNQ and HC:
Mei Nianqing makes art of Jun Wu, in reverence and remembrance of him. Hua Cheng does the same. However, their stances are different. MNQ is wistful about it, HC is more like manifesting his gege into reality and manifesting their marriage.
MNQ and HC both stayed with their princes. MNQ stayed even if the other three vassals left because they were friends and he didn't know JW murdered their other three buddies. However, he left JW the moment he found out abt that. HC stayed with XL and followed him everywhere, even willing to die for his prince, even if it meant dying multiple times.
They were both separated from their hubbies.
MNQ has known Jun Wu in all his eras, and HC has known XL in all his eras too, but maybe only from a distance.
Despite everything Jun Wu and Xie Lian did, MNQ and HC still wanted to stay by their side and remember their true selves. RIP Jun Wu and his mountain tho lmao. MNQ kinda confirmed it for me when he asks Jun Wu after his defeat (not a direct quote btw): Aren't you tired, Your Highness? I just miss how things were. HC tells XL that "what matters is you." The only difference was that MNQ made a choice and worked against Jun Wu while HC consistently made the effort to be there for XL.
I think my Ted Talk is done.
I will say tho, TGCF has this theme of breaking the cycle of abuse and recovering from trauma — Xie Lian choosing to go against Jun Wu, MNQ holding Jun Wu accountable for his crimes, Hua Cheng becoming someone strong so he will never feel unsafe just as he did in his childhood, Lang Qianqiu swearing that he will never be like Xie Lian and then having to revive Qi Rong so Guzi will never have to live the pain of losing one's dad, Mu Qing finding the courage to reunite with old friends, Qi Rong learning to be the person he wanted to be there for him— to name a few, I will probably have separate posts for this.
I guess in Heavenly Official's Blessing, they did shatter taboos.

Does anyone have cute teenage Wangxian or fluffy modern AU fic recs?
Preferably longer ones that actually develop their relationship and have some solid plotline but tbh that's only because I need stuff to download onto my phone to read offline sob
Honestly I'll take angst as long as they have a happy ending
Actually on second thought if anyone has fic recs where WWX is some Inhuman Creacher that's also yummy!!

im bored let’s dissect “alison”
firstly this is what i’m talking abt incase anyone doesn’t know:
Tumblr media
this is so far the ONLY news we have abt this character rick hasn’t said anything about it the official pjo show insta/twitter hasn’t said anything abt it this is it
and this is a fan account which is smth i feel like many ppl don’t know; here’s that account
Tumblr media
here are some other accounts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both the actual along with another pretty reparable fan account both have stayed silent abt this which seems a little sus to me
you might be wondering “but mo that original pic has screenshots of interviews/articles!! they have sources!!” this is true however the source has no source lmao
Tumblr media
from the article the original post pulls from they simply said “we’ve heard” girl heard what and from who
this article was written by nexus news point which idk abt y’all i’ve never heard of
so i took my ass to twitter
Tumblr media
this is the only post i found “but mo it’s verified!!” that’s what i thought i thought “well shit there’s the end of that” but when i was looking at the account i realised three things
Tumblr media
rick does not follow this account
who’s that linked in the bio? oh wait is that..is that nexus ???
anyone can pay to buy a verification
here’s the actual pjo account
Tumblr media
followed by rick
not verified bc why would they have to when rick literally follows them
has said nothing abt this
after all this i don’t think alison is real im gonna be honest however if she does show up in season 2 i will be apologizing with tears
unlike nexus however i will be tagging my sources and will also be adding that rick hasn’t updated his website since may which is the exact opposite of what he did when he was looking for the cast of season 1
Tumblr media
lmk y’all’s thoughts bc this is kinda wack if they just made this shit up LMAOO
