what lino do you use cus i tried some random grey lino from my art store and it curled so badly :( ive mostly been using speedball easy carve the pink one but its kind of expensive lol
i am gonna be SO real with u most of what i've been using has been. pretty terrible blick golden-cut lino-- it's what my professor has a ton of, it's pretty sturdy & wont squish in the press, fairly easy to cut & holds a nice clear line, cheap as dirt <33
BUT!! also i recently got a couple sheets of battleship grey from jackson's online + they're lovely.... more expensive (like $5 for a 20x30cm sheet) but heavier & i adore the way they carve... haven't printed anything with them yet but ill let u know how it does when I do!! :]

i fucked up the glaze real bad maybe because i couldn't stir the pot of gummy stuff and liquid adequately... it was supposed to be brown and glossy not streaked with matte blue but i think it adds character

I'm making miso today!
More accurately, I'm making an Amino Paste (same method as miso, nontraditional ingredients). It's going to be roasted red kuri pumpkin (both flesh and seeds), navy beans, and the jasmine rice koji I just pulled out of the incubator this morning that smells fruity and mushroomy and interesting.
I think I'll do a lower salt, age 1-3 months, sweet miso just so I can eat it sooner! I do have a gallon jar I intend to fill with a 1-year more traditional miso (barley koji, soybeans, higher salt) also, but for my first foray I'm going for a shorter fermentation just so I can enjoy it sooner.
Depending on how I feel and how much koji I have left today, I might attempt an even less traditional miso made from the orange rinds from the oranges that grow on the tree outside my front window and cocoa nibs grown by my childhood friends, because that sounds interesting.
That and/or an amazake.
Today is going to be a good day.

you spin yarn? :O whats that like ive been really wanting to try it!! also pomegranate molasses sounds delicious
yeah!!!!! i'm super new to it but it's SO fun!! it's a really neat like, hands-on hobby-- pretty much everything like knitting or sewing or embroidery or what have you has like, a big you-should-really-pay-attention-to-this component, right? you need to keep your eye on yr pattern or yr stitches or smth. spinning (at least, what i've been doing-- just plain single ply + using my ma's ashford double drive spinning wheel) is like... once you get the hang of it it's almost subconscious. there's barely any thinking component to it, other than like, adjusting the tension occasionally, making sure yr spinning evenly, etc. it almost kind of reminds me of driving on a highway? you have to keep focused or you'll fuck up, but after a while it's really just. mostly muscle memory. also it's SO fucking satisfying it's just so fun oh my god. really rewarding to see you have a whole spindle of yarn you made. also it's like, quicker & therefore more instant gratification than knitting or something!! theres also probably just an adhdautism aspect of "this is just a simple repetitive rhythmic motion you keep going" that's... very alluring sdkfdgkf.
#i haven't done any drop spindle spinning in a VERY long time idr much but its also similar once u get the hang of it!!!#spinning on a wheel is like. a very high entry barrier hobby it's really expensive 2 get all the shit u need & also complicated (i'm rlly#lucky in that it's smth my ma did so we have all the stuff + i also have someone teaching me what to do) but drop spindles#r like a fucking fraction of the price & sosososososo cool & fun & lovely i think :]#anyway HI miso i hope youve been doing well lately!!! hru!! good luck with spinning i rlly hope u get to try it n u enjoy it n such <3333#pomegranate molasses is so good also btw there's no molasses involved its just heavily reduced syrup... ough.#miso tag!

!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhh hi miso! & yeag... 70s-90s japanese avant-garde fashion is. something i'm SO autistic abt & love dearly.. the emphasis on pure shape & color + interaction btwn fabric & texture is like, wildly different than what european designers were doing at the time & it's. very cool i think !

I need a flavor intervention... there is too much spice and salt and seasoning in my life lately, my stomach is in revolt :(
#who would have thought that i – a white person(tm) – could get to this point#but i've been subsisting on curry and kimchi and ramen with about 50 things added to pimp it up#and potato chips with flavors like 'lime salt' and 'mexican tomato' and 'roasted lamb cumin'#i've been eating stuff like mustard and miso paste straight from the jar. by the spoonful.#i tried to make 'absolutely plain quinoa with zero flavoring' to give my poor stomach a break this morning#but when i wasn't looking i accidentally cooked it in vegetable broth and topped it with olive oil and lemon juice#i tried to have 'plain toast' the other day... but spread vegemite on it#what is my PROBLEM?#i am forcing myself to have muesli and raw carrot for dinner tonight#sorry body. i will try to be more reasonable and strike a balance#i just love flavor so much :( unfortunately my insides do not agree :(#cosmo gyres#personal#tag rant#food#this is the worst part about getting older :')

feeling kinda lightheaded but the world is okay I have only a few simple Night Chores ahead of me and, most importantly, I have so many leftovers in my fridge that it's almost stressful (👍)
#like I'll have to make Decisions about what to eat tomorrow#rather than be like these are the 3 meals i can have because these are the 3 foods i have prepared#i have. let's see#2 servings of roasted veggies left#probably 2 servings of cucumber salad#2 big mason jars of pasta (4 servings if i eat them with the veggies on the side...so many 3 total since i have 3 veggies?)#4 big mason jars of miso soup (4-5 servings)#OH and i made tempeh and onions so like 4 quesadillas' worth#...AND the matcha bread rolls i just baked. FUCK I HAVE SO MUCH FOOD#ah i made a numbers typo earlier in my pasta tag but im not redoing that all#suffice to say i am- WAIT FUCK i left half a block of cheese and some trail mix at work so i could have that for tomorrow#fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck how did i end up with so much food#obviously a very 😳 problem to have but also i hope none of it goes bad lol#the veggies/pasta are the oldest so i gotta make sure to finish those off first...#everything else is from the past couple days (minus the cheese/trail mix but that'll keep)#after that the cucumber salad will probably degrade the quickest#ok yeah i should be fine as long as i take care of those things quickly
