Harry bakes a birthday cake for Tom. It has been said, after all, that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. But nothing in Harry's world ever goes quite the way he expects.

Their small talk is poor, and they snipe at one another more than they get along. They disagree on nearly everything important, yet their shallow interests often align. Harry would have thought that would have deterred Riddle, seeing as how he likes his yes-men, but he remarks that he finds Harry's honesty refreshing any time they argue. Days pass like this—weeks, months—before it occurs to Harry that maybe, just maybe… as mad as the idea is… they're dating.
