Honestly, the videos coming out of the Minecraft screenings are grossing me out. Even without all the popcorn throwing and the live chicken, I just can't wrap my head around seeing the audience blatantly use their cellphones to record the movie. Were these people raised in a barn? And to top it off, the director is actually okay with these behaviors? Of course, from what I heard, the movie is terrible, so he's probably just glad that people are paying money to see it. And then, assholes on twt are just, like, "Let people have fun." I had fun wearing matching pink clothes with my bestie to watch Barbie. I had fun humming along to Defying Gravity. I don't know about you but throwing away food, making underpaid employees clean after your mess, or smuggling a real chicken don't sound like fun to me. I don't know.

Also, not to be that person, but I bet that at least a portion of this audience is those who went, "Let's give this movie 'the Acolyte' treatment" at the sight of a black woman in the first trailer.

Making Redesigns is NOT Toxic

A while ago AyyLmao made a video about the LavenderTowne controversy and disscussed "problems" with Hazbin Hotel redesigns as a whole. I used to think he made good points about redesgins in the video.

I've changed my mind. Cuz AyyLmao's whole point about how people making redesgins for Viv's characters being bad is laughable at best. His whole argument is that it's toxic because "people are using redesigns to tear down Viv's shows and saying that their version is basically better".

First, it's funny to me how he never once applies this to when people make redesigns of characters made by other creators. Like I remember watching a video redesigning one of Butch Hartman's characters', and I've seen no one call that toxic, yet suddenely when it comes to Viv and her characters, it IS toxic. Gee, I wonder why...

Second, fixing bad character desgins is NOT toxic. Because there ARE objective rules and standards for what makes a good and bad character desgin, and people are allowed to critique those desgins if they break those rules, just like how there are objective rules for what makes good or bad writting in media, and people are also allowed to critque stories that don't follow these rules.

And just like how people are allowed to rewrite poorly written stories, people are also allowed to make redesigns to fix problems with bad character desgins.

It's not toxic.

I just know in my heart of hearts that in "Star Trek" at one point, there was some moral panic somewhere on Vulcan (among the uppity sorts) because Human culture was "infecting" the local youth with their overly emotional, destructive, unproductive, frivolous, and uneducational ways.

I think the reason the Minecraft movie bugs me is that they’re leaning into the goofy side of things and being all “ha ha, this is like a video game” as it’s tone…

…when they SHOULD’VE leaned into the abstract existential horror of it all.

Big CGI battles with millions of mobs with explosions and fighting is not Minecraft.

i wasnt gonna say any more about this on tumblr dot com but ive been watching tubbos stream out of curiosity and ruminating on it, because seeing screenshots and transcripts of dreams response video out of context the bullshit is blatantly obvious when you lay it out, but actually watching the video, he's just as persuasive as he was in 2020 when he made that response video about the speedrunning drama. even though the math doesn't check out, he speaks very confidently and presents bullshit things as if theyre obvious and true, it's easy to see why someone might believe him. so of course im sure tommy enjoyers around the world are worried that people will actually genuinely believe him and what that will mean for tommy.

i personally find it humorous how none of that vitriol and frothing at the mouth is present in the video itself, it's all been channeled into the sloppy bullshitting and forgery and baseless accusations. you have to understand, this video's target audience is his casual youtube audience consisting of ipad babies who watch his regurgitated minecraft slop and whoever else is tuning in for dream vs. tommy drama (aka, very few), he's trying VERY HARD to convince casual viewers that he's been VERY NORMAL about all of this and he's just making a little 9 minute video in response being very very nice and all sunshine and rainbows about tommy. yes they might have their disagreements but in the end dream is vewy proud of you tommy PleadingEyes (girl.)

but with this, assuming normal casual person tuning in at worst their conclusion is going to be these people both seem cringe. in terms of what a youtuber can be accused of, none of his accusations of tommy are that egregious even if they're baseless and bullshit because the intent is not to DESTROY TOMMY FOREVER it's to undermine tommy's credibility and get himself off scot free. in terms of the grand scheme, what he's accusing tommy off is just being an unserious clout chaser who's made some questionable business decisions, which is quite nothing. and dream is a loser for caring about something so nothing. when ive been looking around this seems to be the conclusion for people who are not waist deep in dream smp sludge

of course, it's infuriating that he's doing this, this seems to be his go-to when he receives criticism. to just attack other people's credibility to not even Have to address any criticism himself. why does it matter what they said? they clearly can't be trusted. unlike me, dream, a very normal and sane person who definitely didn't froth at the mouth with vitriol on twitter and onstream for 3 hours and make several reddit posts and then a youtube video because god forbid some people think he's an unpleasant person behind the scenes. i wonder why they think that!

i've seen quite a few people talking about the minecraft movie trailer and i've not seen anyone else talk about my main criticisms so i'm gonna have to be the one to do it.

1) the villages. that's not what a village looks like in game, there's one thing making the textures hyper realistic but they also changed the natural structures and i just don't get that.

2) the piglins, what seems to be the movies main antagonist, doesn't actually work with in game mechanics. piglins can't exist in the overworld, they become zombified. immediately when i saw them that was the first thing i thought and no one else seems to be mentioning it. i even looked it up to double check for myself and i'm right, you can't have piglins in the overworld, so why have they made that one of the main parts of the movie?

hi mcsm fandom. can i say romeo's actions are absolutely unforgivable. short list to summarize:

- torturing people (radar, nurm iirc) to make petra/jack and jesse behave

- sends thousands of people to bedrock level so he can forget about them, lets them die when they cant eat enough, parallels real-world events

- left everyone in the underneath to die , leaving them w/o food (no sun = no food), essentially a genocide (fred's keep has glowing mushrooms, artificial light works in minecraft)

- has made people fight to the deaþ for his enjoyment

- tortured jack/petra w þat red gauntlet continuously until you meet him/her again

- þe only rumors he exists IS ABOUT HIM DOING NONE OF THAT. he doesnt let anyþing or anyone criticize him or else þeyre sent to a prison camp.

i understand how people can forgive him like in a post-s2 fic or something but i would not defend þat man even if i legally had to in court. you cant just ignore he was a cunty villain who has ended a world and will do it again.
